Traditional Fall Wedding From Morgan Gallo And Donna Von Brueing

We weren’t quite ready to leave Savannah, yet! We have one more wedding from Morgan Gallo and Donna Von Brueing ~ this time a gorgeous classic fall wedding!

You can see Susan and Eric’s entire gallery here!

from Morgan Gallo ~ their wedding planner and designer …
Susan and Eric wanted a fall wedding in Savannah. They loved burnt oranges, reds, yellows and chocolate and the only requirement was to honor Eric’s father’s favorite flower in the wedding (a gardenia) Which is what Eric wore as his bout. The rest was left up to our team of creative professionals to create the wedding of their dreams. The ceremony took place at an old chapel about 10 minutes from downtown. Guests took a trolley to the chapel and back. Candles and candlelight was the main focus and we brought in a bit of a rustic/fall feel with the candle holders and the pew cones. The reception was an intimate affair seating only about 30 so we wanted to fill the space. Creating the U shaped table allowed that. We then brought in and hung lanterns at varying heights from the ceiling over the dance floor and had gobo shapes of leaves pushed to the floor. Honey from a local company in Savannah served as the guests favors. The cake was a show stopper mimicking some fall branches with its leaves falling.

Don’t you just LOVE the fall and all those glorious colors???

You can see Eric and Susan’s complete and delightful wedding on Donna Von Brueing’s blog {here} and Morgan Gallo’s blog:  Part 1 Part 2

Congratulations Susan & Eric!

The Harper Fowlkes House: A Savannah Garden Wedding

The Harper Fowlkes House in Savannah, Georgia was the site of Tali and Joe’s beautiful garden wedding this past July. If you’re just joining us, be sure and look back at part one of this feature from Allison Reisz Photography {here}!

photography by Allison Reisz

from Tali … The second I saw my Sue Wong feather dress I knew it was my wedding dress. It was designed for her “Alice in Wonderland” collection and it was certainly very me! I decided on a second wedding dress, a shorter Carmen Marc Valvo dress that would be terrific for our waltz to Josh Groban’s “So She Dances,” a dress that turned out to be perfect for our carefully choreographed dips and all. Joe found his garden suit at J.Crew.

We had the best time walking around downtown Savannah with Allison Reisz and her husband Rich, our amazing photographers.

At our reception, we wanted to keep everything light and simple and we loved the idea of peach roses, white hydrangeas and white baby orchids on white textured tablecloths. Morgan added clear votives of varying heights and parasols that were in true southern style. We decided on candied apples as favors (a Savannah favorite) and had the most delicious red velvet, lemon, strawberry, and vanilla cupcakes as our wedding cake. Our place settings and table names were designed by Jennifer Borkowski based on David Yurman collections.

For dinner we had stations placed in little nooks throughout the garden with carved prime rib, lemon tarragon salmon, wild mushroom risotto, green bean casserole, garlic steamed vegetables, and cranberry salad.

The rest of the evening was spent dancing to our amazing jazz band as the sun set on our wonderful Savannah garden wedding!

Wow! Simply beautiful! See the rest of this gorgeous garden wedding in the gallery!

Our thanks to Allison Reisz and Morgan Gallo for sharing!

Congratulations Tali and Joe!

Savannah Garden Wedding From Allison Reisz Photography

We have two of the most gorgeous weddings for you today! Both are sensational Savannah weddings, both were choreographed by Morgan Gallo Events and both are going to seriously make you crave a Savannah destination wedding!

photography by the fabulous Allison Reisz!

from Tali, today’s  B E A U T I F U L bride …
I was never the little girl that had my dream wedding all planned out…that is until I saw the garden where our wedding would take place at the Harper Fowlkes House in historic Savannah, Georgia, 3 months before our July 3rd wedding date!

The second my fabulous wedding planner Morgan {Morgan Gallo Events} brought me to the house I felt as if I had stepped into the pages of one of my favorite childhood books, “The Secret Garden.” The house (an old daughters of the revolution home), the tall walls, and the sparkling crape myrtle trees with filigree lights draped across the garden, were simply enchanting and I knew this was it, my dream place to get married!

I grew up in Savannah, Georgia, and wanted our 60 guests to have the utmost southern experience! The seventy degree weather on our July wedding day was unheard of and was the perfect start to our festive occasion. We wanted the wedding to be intimate, relaxing, fun, filled with laughter and love. We knew we wanted a non-traditional wedding and above all else, a celebration of our 6 year journey.

I think the most special and unique part of our wedding was our non-traditional ceremony. Being interracial and interfaith we knew we wanted to just stay true to our love and who we are as a couple. We started the evening off with a cocktail hour where we mingled with all of our guests over tomato sandwiches, cream cheese puffs with cucumber, summer spring rolls, watermelon gazpacho soup shooters, and dijon chicken puffs. When it was time for our ceremony, our wedding officiant and our long time friend (who wore a Beatles tie to marry us in!) asked everyone to gather around us in a circle as we listened to the words he had written for us and said “I do” in unison. In the emotion of it all, I even managed to put Joe’s ring on the wrong hand, laughing incessantly through out the entire ceremony.

Are you hooked? We have much, much more to share with you from Tali and Joe’s Savannah garden wedding in just a bit. You’ll LOVE her second wedding dress! In the meantime, you can see more for yourself over on their fantastic photographer’s website! Allison Reisz Photography: Tali and Joe

Georgia Wedding with Gorgeous DIY Charm, II

I KNEW you guys would go nuts over this wedding. It’s so incredibly perfect it actually looks like a photoshoot! From the insanely awesome Rifle invitations to the sweet, but whimsical table settings…every little bit of this wedding is like the best thing EVER. And to make things even sweeter? The adorable bride actually DIY-ed almost all of it. We’re talking the adorable fans, the wooden spoons used for the gelato, the escort cards and about a million other perfect little details. If you can’t already tell, I am totally, completely, hopelessly in love with this wedding. Click here to see the full gallery.

Oh and don’t forget to pick up the next issue of Weddings Unveiled Magazine to see even more…it hits stands tomorrow! A HUGE and hearty thanks to the fabulous Josh Meredith at Bella Grace Studios for snapping the pictures that will forever be an inspiration to so many brides out there. To Ashley Baber Weddings for making sure the day went on without a hitch and to Gloriosa Design for making us smile from ear to ear with all of the whimsy and style.

From the bride, Qunnie…The wedding was made more memorable with the team effort and support from family members. I hand calligraphy the escort and sitting cards, screen printed the save the dates on vintage hankies, fans, menus, canvas goody bags, wooden spoons for the gelato; whilst my sis made the ring pillow with a vintage handkerchief and filled with dried lavender from her own garden, bunting for the photo booth and just married one for the golf cart and more importantly Eric has also found his new talent in making the moustache and lip props! It was truly an amazing experience in searching for vintage items from various internet sites for the cake stands we used as part of the centerpiece décor, lace table cloth as the photo booth back drop, love stamps from circa 1950s for the invites and all the chargers.

From Ashley Baber…Qunnie and Eric were married at The Inn at Serenbe in Palmetto, Georgia on 27 May. Qunnie came up with the most adorable theme, “Peachy Sweet Love” that was reflected in many details from the vintage stamps on their Rifle invitations to the color palette and even sweet Georgia peaches as part of the décor on the tables. After a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, the wedding ceremony took place under a beautiful old maple tree where they shared personal vows and exchanged Cartier rings.

Guests then enjoyed cocktails, canapés as well as sweet peach tea by the Cabana pool area. It was a gorgeous day with blue skies above, but it started to drizzle during the first course so guests made use of the parasols from the ceremony and continued to enjoy their dinner and conversations. The rain didn’t dampen the atmosphere but instead it brought some good luck. According to Qunnie, the Chinese culture welcomes rain as it symbolizes wealth and fortune.

After the couple cut their 2 tier buttermilk pound cake, the intimate and fabulous dinner party carried on with live Jazz music in the background. Guests had fun taking pictures with various cute props at the makeshift photobooth with a Fuji instax mini camera. Qunnie and Eric enjoyed some catching up with their friends and families, some of them whom they hadn’t seen for years before calling it a night.

They will be having two other more traditional Chinese receptions in Shanghai and Malaysia and a honeymoon in Japan later this year.

We have SOOO much more coming up in just a flash!

Garden Wedding in Georgia

Some of my most favorite weddings on Style Me Pretty are the family made affairs…you know, the weddings that were literally built by mothers and fathers, cousins, sisters, friends and of course, the bride and groom. Well this little gem is just that, filled with handmade details that will certainly make you smile. Photographed by The Studio B Photography, this wedding is SUCH a keeper. The wedding took place at Smith Gilbert Gardens, an undiscovered gem in Kennesaw, GA.  Martha’s parents are both accomplished gardeners and volunteer at the gardens, which is how Martha found out about the venue.

The entire day was filled with unique and meaningful touches from the bonsai centerpieces grown by the brides father to the wedding pictures from three generations on the sign in table. Martha walked down a pinwheel lined aisle and married her groom under the shade of a giant tree.  During the ceremony the guests joined the couple in singing Amazing Grace, which was simply beautiful.

Cocktail hour took place adjacent to the rose garden where the lovely scent of the flowers perfumed the air.  Guests enjoyed ice cold cucumber water as well as their adult beverages of choice. The reception took place under a festively decorated tent which featured bright yellow lanterns that had been hung by the groom the night before. The couple served heavy hors d’oeuvres and then treated their guests to a dessert buffet consisting of nine delicious cakes for them to sample.

The NotWedding Bridal Event 2010

Hold on to your hats brides to be (and grooms to be for that matter). The third annual NotWedding Bridal Event rolled into Atlanta in February and oh do we have some yummy inspiration for you. If you haven’t heard about this gem of a bridal show, you are in luck. This is not your average shindig. The NotWedding is the end-all-be-all of wedding events where some of Atlanta’s most talented vendors come together to stage a wedding extravaganza. Hosted by Atlanta Occasions Magazine at the Foundry at Puritan Mill, this year was filled to the brim with four different wedding themes: Enchanted Forest, Southern Glam, Vintage Chic and Global Fusion. From classic to sassy, we are talking major creative options. Don’t forget to click on the gallery for even more brilliant ideas from The NotWedding Event.

Southern Glam:

The ladies from Aesthetic Floral and Event Artistry put together that sweet Southern Wedding we were all waiting for: Southern Glam! Southern Glam was full of elegance and class with a touch of sweet southern hospitality. Think Steel Magnolia meets high powered style. The Gatsby-like atmosphere, inspired by historic plantations, garden parties, the Kentucky Derby, Emily Post, peony blooms and pearls, proved to effortlessly chic. They gave their brides unique ideas to sass up their southern wedding by having their bouquet made of vintage broaches, which the brides raved about! Aesthetic Floral and Event Artistry inspired brides to use their grandmother’s lace and mama’s pearls with a twist. Truly Stunning!

Vintage Chic:

The team at Bloom Floral Design found their inspiration for Vintage Chic from all things organic. Antique stores were a must and flea markets a necessity. This theme was for the brides that admire history, lace, ice tea, home-made additions and those charming vintage customs! At the NotWedding, Bloom Floral Design slipped in those soft colors from the post war era, that vintage lace your grandmother made, doilies, weathered woods and wild flowers mixed with roses for that classic wedding day feel. With different sized bird cages, giant round white balloons and antique styled soda pop bottles, they pulled off the perfect shabby chic wedding!

Enchanted Forest:

The incredible team from The Savage Garden was behind the Enchanted Forest theme. The Enchanted Forest was a fantasy landscape complete with native trees, shrubs, ferns and lush moss covered branches in a serene woodland setting lit by darling chandeliers. The Savage Garden created an oasis of exotic vines, beautiful flowers, sparkling fairy lights, richly beaded and sequenced table linens, mercury glass and Egyptian glass potion bottles for that one-of-a-kind touch. Each setting had a candied apple, sugared fruits, and stunning jeweled insects giving that feeling that you just stumbled upon a forest fairy’s feast! This striking theme made for an incredibly captivating wedding design!

Vintage E-Session by Jeremy Harwell, Part II

My girlfriend, Lisa, wrote me an email the other day that said…”is it bad that when I’m tense/cranky/panicking/whatever during the day, I look at your blog?”

I love to hear stuff like that. I love to know that people out there can come to SMP for some visual eye candy, for a little refuge of prettiness during their workday. And this next set of images fits the bill entirely. Jeremy Harwell is the fantastic photographer behind this ridiculously gorgeous fashion shoot and this unbelievably lovely 40’s inspired wedding. So of course, when he sent us his latest masterpiece, I swooned. Plus, anything with pink balloons as the centerpiece is A-OK in my book!

Vintage E-Session by Jeremy Harwell

We’ve been chatting about men’s fashions all day and I thought that the perfect follow-up would be this incredible fashion centric e-session that one of our favorite photographers, Jeremy Harwell, shot for Wedding Soiree’s new wedding book. It’s purely gorgeous and should definitely be used as inspiration for your own perfect engagement shoot!

The photoshoot was done in Senoia, Georgia at a 130 year old fishing village. It was the place where Driving Miss Daisy and Fried Green Tomatoes were both shot so you know it was heavy on the gorgeousness. The cute, cute bride is wearing a vintage dress from Stephans and Clothing Warehouse and shoes from J. Crew. The adorable groom is wearing attire from Sid Mashburn & Stephans with shoes by Ralph Lauren. The great pearls are from Mucklows Fine Jewelry and the flowers are by Virtu.

Jekyl Island Wedding From Agnes Lopez Photography

We always like to ask our brides to give us some insight into how they approached planning their wedding ~ their inspiration, their vision. Here’s what Ashaki had to say ~

The main inspiration for our wedding came from my two favorite movies, Gone With The Wind and Marie Antoinette. I made Embry watch these movies countless times while we were dating, and when he barely objected, I knew he was the man for me!!! I really wanted to have a traditional wedding, but I also wanted to make sure that our day was young, fun, and bright. So we combined traditional accents (inspired by the two movies) ~ the antique gold candelabras, candlesticks, and bowls from the outdoor dining scene in Marie Antoinette … and a very traditional ceremony wedding gown with all the fixings – corset, lace, tiered layers  (like in Gone with the Wind!).

Our wedding coordinator, Terrica, was amazing at helping us combine everything!

I wanted the bridesmaids to wear lemon-yellow because I thought it would look absolutely gorgeous on them and also because yellow looks amazing under the sun. The hostesses wore beautiful cocktail dresses in plumeria. Both the bridesmaids and hostess dresses were designed by Watters & Watters and were made in dupioni silk. The girls looked absolutely stunning.

Ashaki and Embry were married in a gorgeous outdoor ceremony on the lawn of Crane Cottage at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel.  LBB photographer, Agnes Lopez, was there to capture their special day!

More from Ashaki ~

As for me, I knew I wanted a big white dress. When I went wedding dress shopping with my mother, I did not expect to find two dresses that I absolutely loved. For the ceremony, I chose a gown with tiered layers, a corset, and lace everywhere. For the reception, I changed into a strapless gown with a completely beaded bodice and beaded accents on the tulle skirt. And for a pop of color, I wore fuchsia Kate Spade peep toe pumps with both dresses. My earrings were designed by the fabulous wedding jewelry designer, Tejani.

What a beautiful wedding! Our thanks and congratulations to Ashaki and Embry for sharing their day with us!
