From Amy Arrington PhotographyBrannon and Emily’s wedding in the mountains was so sweet! Most of the decoration details used at their wedding were of sentimental value. The hair flower that Emily wore was made with lace from her mother’s wedding gown. A few bible verses were also sewn into the inside of her wedding gown. Emily gifted all of her bridesmaids an oh so cute Plum Pretty Sugar robe to wear while they got ready.

The couple opted to do a “first look,” which we love! During their first look, Emily gave Brannon a special journal that she began when she first started dating him, which she kept it until the day that they got married. I love that! Their ceremony was held in a pasture in the mountains at White Oaks Barn in Dahlonega. White Oaks is such a beautiful place. The mountain landscape and vast grassy land is just breathtaking. To the right of the ceremony, we could see a distant rainstorm hovering over the mountain, which was pretty cool. My favorite part of the ceremony was when Emily’s dad walked her down the aisle. Emily’s father has Lou Gehrig’s disease, and it was an honor to get to see him walk her down the aisle.

Inside White Oaks Barn, their reception was decorated with tables dressed in burlap and lace. The centerpieces consisted of hydrangea and baby’s breath arranged in mason jars. Outside, guests enjoyed playing corn hole. There were two sets of corn hole — one for Georgia fans and one for Auburn fans. There were also two cakes. The bride’s cake held a wedding topper that was used at her parent’s wedding. And the groom’s cake consisted of Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Brannon chose doughnuts for his cake because he and Emily had their first date at Krispy Kreme. My favorite detail at their reception was the photos that were strung on a line with clothespins on a set of two antique window panes.

From Enamored WithEven with more than 700 miles standing between this beautiful couple, their love is undeniably true. What started out as a sweet high school friendship has turned into an incredible relationship between two like-minded and value-driven people. With the backdrop of the Southeastern Railway Museum, Edwin and I were able to highlight the essence of their long-distance relationship for the first half of the engagement session. From there, we hopped on over to a hidden gem, McDaniel Farm Park, where Edwin beautifully captured the couple’s love for each other. Even if you spend one minute with these two, you’ll experience true love when you hear the way Andrew cracks a silly joke and Mimi immediately breaks out into contagious laughter. I’m excited for their wedding next March, and I am even more excited to see how the rest of their story will unfold.

Savannah Wedding from Amy Arrington Photography

Of all places to get married, I believe Savannah might be the most romantic and charming. Sure, I could have a slight bias since I went to college in the lovely historic town, but this wedding from Amy Arrington Photography could very well prove my case. And when you take one look at this darling bride’s radiant smile, you’ll be smitten for good. See every moment in the gallery right here.

From the Bride… We wanted our wedding day to be simple, classy and romantic. I was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, which is also where Chris and I met and started dating. So naturally we couldn’t think of a better place to get married since Savannah has such a special place in our hearts. We were married at Richmond Hill United Methodist Church, and our reception was at the DeSoto Hilton hotel in downtown Savannah among the historic squares and beautiful oak trees.

The bridesmaids wore flirty, ruffled, eggplant-colored, halter dresses by Alfred Sung, and the groomsmen dressed in traditional black and ivory tuxes by Calvin Klein. My cousin performed a solo of Christina Perri’s “Thousand Years” just before my father walked me down the aisle to Canon in D. I carried a bouquet of cream polo roses, white mini calla lilies, white freesia and green cymbidium orchids. We left the ceremony in a ’56 Chevy provided by a friend of the family and headed downtown to Madison Square to take pictures with the wonderful Amy Arrington Photography while guests enjoyed a cocktail hour in the Hilton’s Pulaski Room with our signature drink, a “Georgia Peach.”

Following the cocktail hour, guests moved into the Madison Ballroom to enjoy a three-course dinner. Our escort cards led guests to the “Savannah Square” they were assigned to, rather than the usual table numbers. For our cake, we went with a delicious, square, four-tier buttercream and vanilla cake embellished with green cymbidium orchids mimicking my bouquet  Before guests headed home, they could grab a jar of homemade strawberry jam from Justus Orchard, which my in-laws own and run in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Chris and I couldn’t think of a better way to exit the night than with a horse-drawn carriage ride around downtown while our guests showered us in bubbles. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect, special day!

Atlanta Wedding from Ali Harper Photography

A wedding enriched in tradition, style and a whole lot of pretty is a sure fire way to make my oohs and ahhs go into over drive. Throw in some gorgeous florals by Bold American Events, delicious details curated by Estoria Social and stunning stop-in-your-tracks images by Ali Harper Photography, and you have the recipe for a certified swoon-fest. Even better? The gallery is overflowing with even swoon-worthy shots, and you can see it all right here!

From Jaimie Cohen of Estoria SocialGus’s family has a rich Greek heritage, and the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Annunciation in Atlanta provided a perfect backdrop for their traditional Greek Orthodox ceremony. Clusters of white hydrangeas and white roses, secured with white satin ribbons, lined the mahogany church pews. Natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows spilled onto the ceremony space and lit up the pastoral depictions on the stained glass windows. Guests were amazed by the beautiful hand-tiled mural on the domed ceiling ceiling as they listened to the couple exchange their touching vows. Katherine wore a dress she had worn for a debutante ball in high school and updated the gown with touches of antique lace on the bodice. She carried an unstructured bridal bouquet made up of creamy peach roses, luscious salmon peonies, apricot calla lilies and delicate maidens fern, hand-tied with an ivory ribbon. Her bridesmaids sported ruffled collar dresses, a perfect complement to their bouquets. The handsome groom and groomsmen wore classic suits and green bow ties to add to the southern charm. Their lapels were covered in simple hypericum berry boutonnieres, and the groom stood out with his full peach peony to match his bride.

On the heels of the ceremony, Gus and Katherine wanted to highlight their Southern lifestyle throughout their wedding decor, food and music. The couple’s reception took place at the King Plow Event Gallery on the vibrant west side of Atlanta. The space, once a functioning plow factory, boasts high ceilings, exposed brick and the original concrete sealed flooring dating back to 1902. The couple hosted their cocktail hour in the middle gallery space surrounded by an ombre peach lantern chandelier over their magnificent bar. Cocktail tables were dressed in apple green linens and topped off with peach campanella garden roses. Katherine and Gus both have a passion for local music and selected bluegrass band Parker Smith and the Bandwidth to perform at their wedding after attending their concert earlier in the year. The band played an unplugged set as guests sipped their bourbon cocktails.

As the staff pulled back the heavy curtains to reveal the reception gallery, the guests were seated at tables draped in classic ivory linens with natural burlap overlays. Lush floral arrangements topped the tables with their organic design with white hydrangeas and  spray roses, peach lisianthus, “happy romance” hypericum berries, garden roses and yellow billy balls with accents of garden ferns. The 18-person estate table sat at the center of the room, covered in pistachio linens with a modern geometric pattern. Glass bubbles, strung on peach ribbon, hung from the ceiling with delicate floral arrangements in their glass enclosures. Katherine’s sister, an artist and jewelry designer, created “Bride” and “Groom” signs that hung from their chairs with super-sized Scrabble letters — the couple’s favorite game. Guests dined on traditional southern fare including shrimp and grits, beef tenderloin and fried green tomatoes. The couple and their guests danced the night away and enjoyed a traditional Greek snack called koufetas, hand-prepared by the bride and her family.

From Chancey Charm WeddingsMegan and Jeremiah had the sweetest wedding, set in one of the most charming venues we have ever seen! The love this couple shares is so special, and we loved the way they celebrated. Megan and Jeremiah first considered holding their wedding at a classy antebellum home, but they quickly realized a romantic barn wedding was more true to their style. This sweet couple loves people so well, and it showed on their wedding day. They were surrounded by a community of 200 people who showered them with love and support, and they had even developed amazing friendships with their vendors.

Their venue, The Muscadine Vine, is home to an Atlanta landscape architect and his wife, and they have adorned the property with the prettiest muscadines you have ever seen! The couple held their ceremony beneath a huge oak tree on a perfectly green lawn as the family’s pond glistened in the background. The reception was held amongst the property’s three barns, lavishly decorated with twinkling lights and the prettiest vintage furniture. The simple color palette complimented the natural landscape, and the chandeliers dotting the property created endless romance — it was a dream!

The reception featured a fried chicken buffet with the best macaroni and cheese you can imagine, and the festivities concluded with a barn dance. Megan and Jeremiah planned the perfect day, and anyone could tell how much fun this sweet couple had together and with their guests. Their wedding stayed true to the southern spirit and set the perfect backdrop for the most charming wedding.

Atlanta Wedding Cinematic Trailer from 3Ring Media

One of my all time, hands down, favorite things is a couple that can make me smile + fall in love with them, without ever meeting them. Which is why I am maybe the worlds biggest fan of wedding cinematography, and especially 3Ring Media. They are able to capture the essence of the couple on the biggest day of their lives, which is pretty much a guarantee of that warm, fuzzy feeling. You will love this Atlanta couple. LOVE them.

I’ll have to preface this story by sharing a few details of my first visit to Aaron’s house. He spoke of his hometown in NewYork. He showed me a book which featured the 1,000 Islands and The Boldt Castle. Throughout his house, there was various pictures of the castle. He explained its history and I decided that I had to visit one day.

Four months later, I got my chance! July 2010, we flew to Watertown, NY where Aaron introduced me to his entire family. Immediately, I just loved them and their family’s lovely river cottage! Everyday was filled with excursions on the St. Lawrence River and family fun. And of course, one of those family excursions was to The Boldt Castle. I knew back then there was something magical about the castle on Heart Island…

One year later, I was lucky enough to be invited back. On Sunday, July 24, 2011, Aaron and I went for a run. Upon returning, everyone was hungry and it was decided we would go eat. We all jumped in the boat that Aaron’s stepfather had spent the entire day cleaning (you’ll know why later). There were 9 of us in the boat and all but one had seen it. She had suggested we stop by the castle as they were all in cahoots. I heard a few moans and groans from these reluctant actors. Luckily, I expressed my fondness of the castle. And it was decided that we would go for a bit.

We walked through the entrance and up to the castle while taking pictures along the way. The family walked into the castle as Aaron asked me to join him for a walk along the river’s edge. We walked by a beautiful heart shaped garden. Aaron asked if I’d like to sit on the bench facing the St. Lawrence River. This is where he got down on one knee. The family witnessed his proposal from the castle. Afterward, we reunited with them. As I ran to Aaron’s mother, there were tears of joy and laughter. I love sharing this moment with all of them! Now the pictures in our house have a wonderfully new meaning.

The Wimbish House is one of Atlanta’s beloved landmarks. Built in 1906, it is one of the few remaining homes along what was once known as Atlanta’s fashionable “Mansion Row”. Here’s a little story for you on why The Wimbish House is so special to me. First, what can I say but I love the Midtown area. I had lived in Midtown for 8 years. During that time, I walked by The Wimbish House almost every Saturday night on my way to work. I remember making note of how lovely the house and celebration seemed as so many were married there over the years. But what I didn’t know is that one day it would be my turn.

When planning our wedding, I was heavily inspired by romance, traditions, and family. With every decision, I was influenced by one or all of the above. I wanted to show my love through the details. Our vision was a romantic vintage theme with The Wimbish House as the showcase. Pink and white peonies, red and pink ranunculus, and white freesia all accented the bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, and arrangements. Throughout the Wimbish House, we decorated with our parents’ wedding pictures and our engagement pictures. Special touches of bird votive holders, bird vases, and birdcages were sprinkled throughout. Also, poems such as “I Carry Your Heart” & “If You Live To Be A Hundred” were displayed on large wooden signs. Family tradition is important to us. We were thrilled to use my family’s wedding cake knife. In addition, I honored the tradition of carrying “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a sixpence in her shoe”. Also, I found it special that Aaron and I were married by my uncle just as my parents were married by my mother’s uncle.

From the Bride… Scott and I were engaged in February and couldn’t wait to get married, so we picked a date six months later in August before the school year started (Scott is in medical school, and I’m a high school teacher). It was a whirlwind experience, but we had the time of our lives. I began planning the wedding while living in Richmond, Virginia, and picked a venue in Roswell, Georgia, near where we both grew up. My mom was a huge help in scouting out the venues in the area. Once we found Kimball Hall, we knew it was perfect for us. Over the summer I was able to move home for a couple months to plan the wedding while Scott was away at Naval officer training. With Scott and I being apart for the two months leading up to the wedding, it made planning more challenging, but it made the whole experience that much more exciting when were finally reunited for the wedding.

Our overall concept was a casual, Southern style event with some traditional components. Our color scheme of yellow and gray also played an important role. This concept and color scheme was the inspiration for many of the details. Kimball Hall is a beautiful, rustic, Southern home with inviting character and was our ideal setting. The floral arrangements of white, yellow, and peach flowers were accented with a yellow “pop” from lemon centerpieces. My mother’s hand-made gray table runners added a cozy, creative feel and rounded out the traditional silver table decorations. We made several of the decorations for the event by hand, including the table numbers in antique frames, the seating charts in old window-panes and unique programs for the ceremony. The groomsmen wore a more casual, cobalt gray suit with striped, yellow ties. The bridesmaids wore a lighter, ash gray dress of their choosing with fun yellow shoes. Our bouquets had splashes of yellow and white. As a special detail, Scott and I each had a feather — one in my bouquet and his boutonnière. Birds of a feather fly together!

Our guests were greeted at the reception with a hand-written chalkboard note from us and a signature cocktail. We served adult Arnold Palmers with sweet tea vodka and lemonade in mason jars. Our menu was deliciously prepared by Avalon Catering and offered classy, Southern fare. Our cake was a simple tiered cake with ruffled, white butter cream frosting, to complement the ruffles in my dress. Our cake topper was two small, handmade, wire birds (I love birds!). For dessert, we did not offer a groom’s cake. Instead, we had an ice-cream sundae bar that was a huge hit. To tie in the theme, there were plenty of bright yellow candies and sprinkles for the guests to top their sundaes with. It was such an amazing day. Our friend and minister, Dave Lewis, delivered a beautiful, heartfelt ceremony. The reception was memorable and fun. We received so many compliments from friends and family; everyone had a great time. Our photographer, Jacquie Rives, did an amazing job and has captured some breathtaking memories for us. In the end, though, what matters most, is that this wonderful day marks the beginning of our lives together… our lifelong adventure. We could not be happier.

From Scobey PhotographyRain pelted the windows hard and relentlessly. Thunder roared from the gray Georgia sky, and the entire room took a collective sigh. Everyone except for her. She was staring into the distance, and she was smiling. The weather was the furthest thing from her mind. She was thinking of him. Her best friend, her confidant, her accomplice in world-traveling adventures and her dance partner. There was no sighing from the place where she sat, calmly having the finishing touches of her makeup applied; only the breathing in of love, and the exhale of joy.

From the Bride… Ever since I was a little girl, my mom and I have been going to craft shows in the Southeast. The fall was always a time full of weekend-long festivals. We loved to browse and look at all the creative ideas, but in the end, we would never buy a thing because we would always say, “We can make that.” Our bravado was put to the test this past summer, after my fiancé and I decided our school schedules were going to be too hectic in the fall, so we needed to move our wedding date up from October to July. This meant planning an entire wedding from April to July 19th. Daniel and I both love the beach, so we decided to get married back at Tybee Island, Georgia, where we first got engaged one year before. I also love the South, so my mother and I set our sights on finding that perfect blend of Southern and Sun. To start our southern style-wedding project, we went on the hunt for blue vintage mason jars to serve as our candle holders/centerpieces. Finding these proved to be the deciding factor in choosing our wedding colors, and blue and ivory became our official palette.

Since Daniel is such a huge Georgia Bulldog fan, we decided to use this as the theme of the groom’s cake. I made small flags out of Georgia-printed material for the backdrop and a small “G” emblem from a sports shop for the top. For the last cake, mom wanted to add initials, so she painted the wooden initials, added rhinestones and glued Popsicle sticks to the back to stick them in the cake. On this same table, we decided to do a candy buffet in blue and ivory colors and bought tags to identify the types of candy. From the same vendor, I received a candy buffet sign and a sign for my wishing tree. I thought it was a good idea to get wishes and advice from our guests at the wedding so we made a wishing tree. We took a vase and added LED lighted branches from Hobby Lobby and used tea-stained tags from Etsy for people to write down their words of wisdom. We added blue ribbons to hang the tags to the tree. The centerpieces for the tables were a collection of things that I liked.  We found beautiful, large iron lanterns that held three tea-light candles, and we used mirrors in the bottom to reflect the light. We sat the lanterns on top of Spanish moss, which reminded me of the trees in Savannah. We added starfish on top of the moss to bring in the beach feel and added two mason jars on to each side that had a tiny bouquet of baby’s breath. I gave Daniel the job of hanging café bulbs that I found at Target to give the reception a warm feel. The last touch to the tables was a thank you written on cardstock from a vendor on Etsy that expressed gratitude to our guests for making the journey to our wedding. We are proud to say, “we did it ourselves.”

Atlanta Wedding at The Vinings Club from Brita Photography

Atlanta is one of my all-time favorite cities. Not only did it provide fond memories while I visited my (now) husband in his college years, but Atlanta also offers the perfect blend of urban city glam with woodsy wonderfulness. Case in point, this sweet wedding from Brita Photography. The giant, beautiful windows of The Vinings Club looked out across the trees to the Atlanta skyline and made a ceremony backdrop that wedding lovers only dream about. See every moment in our gallery right here.

From Brita PhotographyLydia and Anthony were married at at The Vinings Club. The beautiful ceremony was held on the main level, which features floor-to-ceiling marble and huge 20-foot windows that overlook the perfect city view of downtown Atlanta. After the ceremony, we wandered all around the property, stopping to take pictures around the gardens, which were covered in blooming flowers and bushes. Lydia and Anthony made their grand entrance into the romantic ballroom. As they celebrated the night away, the view of the city became even more breathtaking. The sun went down, and the building lit up the night sky. It was a dream for any bride!

From Happy Kiss PhotographyWith such a serene and peaceful atmosphere, the LL Farm makes an ideal location for a wedding celebration. Our goal was to have vintage, rustic details to complement all the decor. The bride is wearing a delicate Annasul Y gown and a vintage lace veil. The groom was looking sharp in a gray “Legend” tuxedo by Calvin Klein. The outdoor ceremony decoration was nicely done with beautiful luminaries surround by mason jars filled with flowers and wrapped in lace. The little gazebo made a special and unique place for a ceremony, with its vintage chairs and charming benches made on the farm. Hand-made body scrub favors in beautiful decorated jars with burlap made the perfect gift for the guests. The reception table was amazing and was decorated with laced mason jars, flowers, luminaries and wooden elements. The vintage couch complemented the table really well. Adding a unique twist on our photo shoot, Diesel the farm horse came into our photo shoot, making the photographs even more romantic.

From Artworks Wedding CinemaAfter living in Georgia for over 10 years, we finally had an opportunity to visit a real-life, working peach orchard! We both filmed and photographed Becky and Tommy’s engagement film at one of Georgia’s largest peach orchards, Lane Southern Orchards. They let us have a part of the orchard all to ourselves, and it was fantastic! Normally, we focus entirely on film and cinema, but shooting with DSLR cameras, it was ridiculously easy to snap a few stills while we were filming, and we think they turned out as beautiful as the film. Not only that, but the bride and groom have both a film and photos to take away from this session. Tommy and Becky will be getting married in October, and we can’t wait to film their wedding!

From Kristy Dickerson PhotographyJeremy and Lindsey tied the knot under a oak tree in the North Georgia mountains, surrounded by their closest friends and family. No detail was overlooked — hay bales with family vintage blankets lined the aisles, the bride’s bouquet was made using her mother’s brooches, and the couple “spread the love” with homemade jam favors. It was one of my favorite weddings to date. We had a gorgeous sunset and they got to enjoy their first sunset as husband and wife on a nearby lake.

Cotton Warehouse Wedding from Kaitie Bryant Photography

Maybe it’s because my own wedding happened in a converted industrial space, but this pretty little number held at The Cotton Warehouse from Kaitie Bryant Photography is hitting all the high-notes in my book! Styled impeccably by a bridesmaid + the mother-of-the-bride, the couple’s love for music and reading was highlighted through DIY-touches and charming details like the sheet-music guest book. See the rest of this sweet event in the full gallery.

From Kaitie Bryant PhotographyBrent and Rachael’s day was lovely in every way. Rachael’s friend and bridesmaid, Britney Ray, offered to style the wedding and do the flower bouquets (with Britney’s super-talented mom) and they did an AMAZING job. Britney made everything for her wedding and it was incredible, so I knew Rachael’s wedding would be quality style too. Brent and Rachael are avid readers, and they read together as a couple, so books played a unique role in the decor. Books they had read or were currently reading were spread throughout the venue with the story behind the book. Also, there were favorite books of Brent and Rachael’s parents arranged next to pictures of family members on their wedding days. Along with their love for reading, both Brent and Rachael love music, so guests were given sheet music to write notes on for the couple. One of my favorite unique elements of the wedding was the table numbers — each table in the reception was given a number that had special significance to Brent and Rachael. One table had the number of days they would spend in Jamaica for their honeymoon, another was 88 for the number of keys on a piano (one of the favorite instruments) and other significant numbers like their birthdays and their first date. Each table also had a list of conversation questions for guests to ask each other during dinner. I LOVE these types of questions and thought that it was such a good idea to do! I know I’ve been at weddings where guests awkwardly sit at tables and don’t know what to talk about, so I thought this was such a creative and fun little help for guests to enjoy each other more. The wedding was at the Cotton Warehouse in Monroe, and this venue has so much charm. It is located in a long series of warehouses that are now mostly vintage stores selling all sort of treasures, so we made sure to get some quick pictures in one of the stores with some of their old cameras and lovely decor.

St. Simons Island Wedding from Kelli Boyd Photography

These college sweethearts kept their St. Simon’s wedding understated and simple to showcase the beautiful details of their church and reception venue, the Frederica Boat House, both of which were designed by the bride’s architect cousin! Beautiful white and green hydrangeas from Vine Garden Market accented the natural elements and it was all captured by Kelli Boyd Photography. See the rest of this beauty right here!

From Kelli Boyd PhotographyLeigh Ann and Tommy met in college through mutual friends attending Auburn University. They attended a formal together, and they have not been apart since. With both of them having strong roots in St Simons Island, Georgia, they could not think of a better place to get married. They chose Wesley Methodist Church for the ceremony and the Frederica Boat House for their reception because the bride’s cousin, Keith Summerour, an architect, designed both buildings and that the groom’s grandfather helped get Wesley started years ago. They wanted the decor to be simple to show off the beauty of the buildings.

From the Bride… I married my best friend, Chris Fenner, a month ago in Dahlonega, Georgia, at White Oaks Barn. Our photographers were Ben and Colleen of Pure Gold Photography. I got each of the bridesmaids a kimono as their gift to wear while we were getting ready day-of! My dress was a champagne ballgown, and my birdcage veil was homemade. Each bridesmaid got to pick out their own dress in a color palette ranging from mint to teal. During our first look, Chris gave me a very special necklace made from the diamonds from my mother’s engagement ring The sweet little junior bridesmaid is Chris’s youngest sister. My dad married us, and my mom was my matron of honor! Chris’s dad was his best man as well. I painted a re-creation of the mountain and house from the movie UP! (one of our faves!), and the guests put their thumbprints on it like balloons. The reception was in the barn and the ceremony was outside on the hills. I made each centerpiece by hand by vintage postcards with cute sayings (example: “We’re having and H— of a time!” There really were dashes after the “H!”) and hand-dipping each bottle. I got the milk glass vases at thrift stores, along with the succulent pots. Friends volunteered to make cupcakes instead of us having a cake. My grandmother, Julia, my namesake, made our little cake to cut: red velvet from scratch. I made the cake plates from vintage plates from Goodwill and candlesticks! I made hearts on the cupcakes and the big “F” too! In the reception shots, you’ll see the ribbon chair backs I made for Chris’s and my chairs. I painted small mirrors black and wrote “bride” and “groom” on them with chalk! I got “FOREVER” engraved into his ring because that’s what he texted me the night we got engaged. :)

Atlanta Wedding at Le Fais do-do from Jamie Howell Photography

Throw in a stunning tiered Rivini gown, some adorable DIY elements and we’ve got a recipe for wedding success. Be sure to check out the gallery full of pretty from Jamie Howell Photography!

From the Bride… A co-worker nicknamed the style of our wedding as “Modern Farmdustrial.” Indeed, our overall style was a mashup of our personalities. I’m the introverted one with a very modern, clean, minimalistic style. Matt is the southern Army dude whose eclectic style would find a place in your grandmother’s home.

Both the ceremony and reception took place in two different industrial warehouses in midtown Atlanta. Our church is a clean slate, which we lit up with hundreds of pillar candles. Clean and simple, nothing else. No attendants, just us making a commitment to each other in front of God. It was a joy to serve communion to our guests as our first act as a married couple. We also didn’t introduce any color into our palette, just black and white with some gray, ivory and cream. To compromise with Matt and bring in some of his southern style, I did use wood as an organic element throughout. Wood planks down the tables. Some burlap. Wood signs painted with chalkboard paint. The only “flowers” were dried cotton or stems. We even kept our cake clean and simple with no frosting or other embellishments. My favorite part of the wedding were the countless DIY projects I tackled. I made our own wedding logo into a stamp and we DIYed all our print materials. We created an “I Spy” Instagram game for our guests, which turned out to be a huge hit! Matt and I really enjoyed thumbing through all the tagged photos the day after our wedding. Matt even brewed all the beer for the wedding! And so much more.

Matt and I are avid motorcycle riders, so we made our bikes part of the reception space, and we surprised guests with a motorcycle send off! And since Matt is active duty Army, we enjoyed the traditional military honors after our ceremony. Finally, my dad and I surprised our guests with a hilarious father-daughter dance. My dad came up with the idea, mixed the music and even did the choreography! One of my favorite splurges of the wedding was my custom Rivini gown. I also purchased a beautiful black Rivini statement necklace. One of Matt’s favorite parts of the wedding was walking around with a sword all day and even cutting our cake with it!

From the Bride… It was fate the day Matthew moved next door to the my childhood home. Just a short year later, we would be engaged and planning a dreamy brunch affair. Having a deep love of history, fine foods and British style, we we wanted something different then the average wedding. I spent much of her childhood traveling through Europe and developing an appreciation for grandeur and elegant taste and wanted to tie it in with the strong southern roots I share with Matthew. Not soon after our engagement was announced, we stumbled upon The Olde Pink House. It was the perfect place.

I was given away by my brother dressed in his dress blues as a trumpet voluntary began to play. Following the ceremony, guests were greeted by the passed mini-pancakes with maple syrup served with their choice of three signature drinks: kir royal, a mimosa or a bellini. Cocktail tables were dressed with vintage teacups and lace. Escort cards, stamped with a wax seal and the wedding monogram, laid on vintage, beveled mirrors filled with peonies and a towering arrangement of peonies and ostrich feathers. Following the cocktail hour, guests re-entered the transformed ballroom filled with tapered candles, crystal candle holders and arrangements of peonies, hydrangea, dahlias, roses and gardenias filled the room. Each guest received a personalized menu with the wedding monogram offering a choice of crème brulee French toast, quail eggs benedict with crab cakes, a Savannah southern fried omelet, southern quiche or shrimp and grits.

All of our paper products were inspired by vintage, European papers and featured a wax seal and a traditional English marriage wreath. Each branch of the wreath represents a family joining together. As owner and designer of Nina Barrow Designs, it was important to showcase my work. Guests were asked to leave a message for us using a traditional quail pen on framed notecards. The labels on the dessert bar were hand-rolled.

Following the three-course brunch, guests were offered a mini-praline almond basket in honor of Savannah’s most famous dessert and a selection of sweet treats from the Laduree-themed pastry bar. The spread featured a French raspberry torte, macarons, cupcakes, truffles, éclairs, gilded brownies, napoleons and louver domes. After the guests were filled with sweets and yummy treats, they made their way outside to wish the newlyweds off as they escaped to their London honeymoon in a vintage 1937 Rolls Royce.

From the Bride… I loved planning every detail of our wedding day. I wanted the day that Joey and I had looked forward to for so long to be meaningful and timeless with a vintage, romantic style. We live in Kentucky but chose to have the ceremony and reception at Villa de Suenos in St. Simons Island, Georgia. It is a gorgeous, Mediterranean-style beach house with great ocean views and beautiful architecture. We invited only our closest family and friends.

The décor was a huge DIY project by my mom’s best friend. The colors I chose were pink and gold, and we added a lot of lace, crystal and brass accents. The flowers were mainly roses, but she also used hydrangeas, peonies and ranunculus. She created a beautiful floral backdrop for the wedding ceremony, flower balls that hung from the ceiling of the pavilion and several other beautiful floral accents. The centerpieces were tall floral arrangements in antique brass candelabras and beautifully-decorated boxes that my mother made. Several of our family members contributed making our wedding day meaningful.  One of my aunts married us. My great-grandfather, who could not be at the ceremony, recorded a very special prayer that was played during the ceremony. My mother-in-law made her homemade peach preserves for all of the guests. Another one of my aunts made the ring bearer’s pillow using a lace handkerchief that my mom bought in Venice, Italy. And yet another of my aunts did my hair and makeup.

It rained on our wedding day, so we had to have the ceremony under the pavilion instead of in the yard as originally planned. I had worried for months that it would rain and ruin the whole day, but it actually turned out perfect! The ceremony was so intimate under the pavilion. Joey and I felt like we were the only people in the room. It was a wonderful feeling! The day turned out to be more wonderful than I had ever imagined. Now Joey and I can look back at the breathtaking photos by our photographer Meaghan Stewart and remember this day forever.
