From Brenda Upton PhotographyThis unbelievably adorable couple tied the knot at the Walter’s Barn in Lula, Georgia. It was an outdoor farm wedding, complete with mason jars, church pews, DIY fan programs, bright, colorful flower arrangements and flower girls so adorable you’ll die. Inclement weather added a bit of stress, but in the end everything turned out flawless. It was one of my favorite weddings I’ve ever photographed.

Georgia Garden Wedding from Odalys Mendez Photography

Simple yet breathtaking, understated yet infused with elegance – this wedding from Odalys Mendez Photography is just everything. Or at least my everything. It’s garden party glam with a big ol’ side of southern charm, and I honestly can’t think of a better combo. With bridesmaids in blush and boots, a tablescape worthy of some serious swooning and a couple so happy you just want to reach through the screen and squeeze them – this gallery just might be your everything today too.

From Odalys Mendez Photography… Jennifer and Ryan wanted to create a feeling of tradition and comfort for their guests. The wedding took place at an old estate nestled among lush gardens South of Atlanta, Georgia. The Bride and her mother brought several antiques to this dreamy site that have been in their family for many generations, including the Bride’s late grandmother’s rocking chairs and quilts. When entering the ceremony site, guests were greeted by benches adorned with vintage pieces and candlelight scattered throughout the venue. The bride and groom’s sweetheart table was decorated with family antiques as well, set with heirloom china and embellished with whimsical florals and hand-crocheted garlands.

The brides gown, by Pronovias, was a romantic column of lace that tied into the feel of the day. She kept her hair and jewelry simple and carried a brooch bouquet she made herself, and featured her grandmother’s brooches. All the flowers arrangements we unique, and resembled hand-picked blooms set in a collection of antique vases and serving pieces. The menu was a selection of the Bride and Groom’s favorite comfort foods, such as pork tenderloin and macaroni and cheese. Guests danced the night away under the stars.

Thomasville Wedding at Pebble Hill Plantation from Anna K. Photography

I’m a Southern girl, and if I’ve learned anything from my roots it’s that pearls, big smiles, and a whole lotta love are just about all you need in life. And you know you’ve got a good Southern wedding if it’s got all three of those essentials plus some show-stopping extra details – like a dinner complete with all the fixin’s – that have a charm all their own. Pebble Hill Plantation was the most perfect of locations for such a classic fête and you can experience it all from Anna K. Photography in the gallery right here.

From the Bride… Sam and I met three years ago in graduate school in Savannah, Georgia, during my first semester and Sam’s last. Soon after he graduated, we started dating, and it wasn’t long until we knew this was it. Our proposal was nothing less than perfect. I was back home visiting my parents for the weekend to help my sister go wedding dress shopping. I was so bummed because Sam was supposed to work Saturday. Friday night, during dinner, Sam showed up and surprised me! Down on one knee he went in front of my family, and the rest is history! My sister was married in March of this year, so by helping her plan I began to envision what I wanted my wedding day to be like — southern, romantic and fun, just like us. Went spent a full day touring different plantations in southern Georgia near my hometown. When we arrived at Pebble Hill Plantation in Thomasville, our search was over. From the moss-draped oak trees to the dirt roads leading to the big white plantation house and the ivy-covered courtyard, we both knew that this would be where we would say “I do.” We began discussing what everything would look like, but we never imagined it would turn out to be so perfect.

After we picked our location, it was time to plan. Details, details, details. Who knew there were so many details in a wedding?! This was my favorite part of planning. Our wedding colors were a classic navy, khaki and white, which gave the whole day a very classy feel.   Our menu was as southern as it gets: catfish cakes, chicken salad, pork tenderloin, shrimp and grits, mac-n-cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls and our favorite: creamed corn. The entertainment for the night was provided by the classic Motown band The Tams.  They had everyone on the dance floor all night long! All of our hard work and planning paid off, as every detail fell into place. Our photographer, Anna K. Photography, captured every detail and special moment so beautifully. We are so thankful to our families, wedding party and friends for helping make our day the best day of our lives.

My Fair Lady Inspired Photo Shoot from Jeremy Harwell + Nicholas Kniel

The moment I laid eyes on this My Fair Lady inspired gorgeousness from Jeremy Harwell, I knew the rest of my day would probably be spent day-dreaming in this gallery. Because not only are the images stunning (and they are stunning), but the styling from Nicholas Kniel is seriously be-yond. It’s bow-trimmed hats and lace booties, it’s dapper gentleman and masquerade masks. It’s all so beautiful I can barely contain my fashion-loving self, and you can see it all here.

From Jeremy HarwellNicholas and I thought it would be brilliant to do a modern take on “My Fair Lady.” We thought it would be an amazing story. The story began with the common woman who works in the flower shop, then transforms into a beauty at the Derby and then onto marriage and becoming a princess. We were inspired by Kate Middleton and Audrey Hepburn’s “My Fair Lady” look.

From Artworks Wedding CinemaCari and Chris had a gorgeous destination wedding at Jekyll Island, Georgia. We started out exploring the island with the two of them for their engagement film just two days before the wedding. They had fun riding bikes and visiting Jekyll Island’s famous Driftwood Beach, and they finished off the shoot at the pier at sunset. We couldn’t wait to film their wedding, and it definitely did not disappoint! The best way to describe their wedding was bright, sunny and full of joy. It was a gorgeous day and all the beautiful, soft pink blooms paired with the abundant sunshine and sunsets just makes your heart sing!

From the Bride… Chris and I are high school sweethearts, and I counted down the days until our wedding since I was 14! We set the date, Sunday, June 3, almost four years ago because I wanted to be married on my grandfather’s birthday. He and my grandmother had the sweetest love I’ve ever known, and I wanted to hold them close on the most important day of my life. I pinned the cameo my grandmother wore in her 1952 graduation photo to my bouquet as my “something old.” Those were the first two decisions we made, and after that the theme of our day came together very easily. Having a Sunday wedding seemed very natural and helped create the comfort we wanted our guests to feel.

We knew from the beginning that we wanted a small, intimate, and romantic wedding. After visiting every venue in North Georgia, I had almost given up hope of finding the perfect place. There were plenty of good options, but nothing felt right. After an afternoon with my mom and sister at a bridal show, I was thumbing through a bridal magazine and saw an ad for the Jekyll Island Club Hotel. It was love at first sight all over again! I told my mom, “I found it! This is where we’re getting married!” We called the next day, drove down that weekend and booked our day with out looking back. As a social studies teacher, the Jekyll Island Club Hotel provided just the vintage, historic elegance I was looking for. It was so wonderful to celebrate our day with those closest to us and have our loved ones nearby all weekend. Those days are memories we will cherish forever!

Inspired by a spectacular sunset over the water in Jekyll Island, we chose a color palette of soft pink, cream and gold for a dreamy, romantic look. I wanted to create a vintage vibe but still keep the look cohesive. The venue was stunning in itself so I wanted to enhance its natural beauty without overshadowing it. My favorite feature of our wedding was the crystal and milk glass centerpieces. The pink flowers complemented the white containers beautifully. Our fantastic florist surprised me with peonies for my bouquet after telling me he couldn’t get them, and it was the sweetest surprise! Our vendors were phenomenal and helped create a day more beautiful than I ever could have dreamed!

Cartersville Wedding from Stella Harper Events

This next wedding from Stella Harper Events is filled to the brim with cotton, lace and the sweetest dose of Southern charm.  Family played a huge role in the simple (yet stunning) event as the mother and grandmother of the bride made the jam favors and quilt guestbook while the groom’s father built an amazing bar out of wood from a 70+ year-old barn! There’s a gallery full of even more beauty + love seen through the lens of Caroline Peters Photography.

From the Bride… You always expect to hear these crazy stories of how people meet their husbands. Mine was actually quite simple: I met Derek by walking up to his front door. Once he opened it, I knew my wait was over. Within a year and a half, I found myself rushing home to see him before he left for a business trip. I was in the midst of my usual routine when Derek said he had a new shirt for our pug, Harpua. Harpua is your typical pug and enjoys dressing up, so I was super-excited and didn’t expect anything out of the ordinary. Harpua ran into the living room and jumped on me, and then I noticed what his shirt said: “Will you marry me?” Derek was behind him on one knee. I was so surprised, and after some sweet words from Derek, all I could do was nod yes. It couldn’t have been more perfect for us.

Then the craziness of wedding planning began. There is nothing better than a fall day in the south. Derek and I are both huge football fans, so our number one concern was what football game was what weekend. Thankfully, we were able to find a weekend in September that wouldn’t upset too many SEC fans. Once we got the “hard” part out of the way, everything started to fall into place. We wanted the wedding to represent everything we love about each other and to make sure everyone had a good time. We decided to get married in my hometown of Cartersville, Georgia, at an old civil war house that sits on over 300 acres. There were so many sentimental details, from the sweet tea signature drink to having our pug dance to the Phish song he was named after. We had a cotton theme to represent my great-grandfather, who was a cotton farmer. The tent was decorated with Coke bottles, minnow buckets, lace, magnolia leaves and tobacco tins — basically, all things southern. The reception had mason jars galore, as well as my mother’s and grandmother’s famous canned goods and food. Many things were hand-made, from the runners to a friendship quilt sewn by my grandmother for our guestbook. The crowning jewel was a bar built by Derek’s father that was made out of wood from a barn my great-grandfather built over 70 years ago. These are things we will cherish forever. Last, but not least, we had to honor my soon-to-be fly fisherman husband with cocktail napkins that said “The Perfect Catch.” That summed it up for me. I had reeled in the best man I could have ever imagined … and had one heck of a party to celebrate the occasion. Storybook ending.

Savannah Wedding at The Mackey House from Nate Henderson Photography

I don’t know if there’s anything that warms my heart quite like a Savannah wedding. The draping Spanish moss and the elegance and charm that can only come from a location so steeped in history truly makes me so thrilled to see weddings like this from Nate Henderson Photography. And any wedding that can combine such timeless elements – the Alfred Angelo gown, the toile print, and the Americana color scheme, to name a few – into a celebration as perfect as this wedding is a winner in my book. See every detail in the gallery right here.

From the Bride… We were very focused on making everything about the wedding “scene” very personal romantic, and slightly old-fashioned. One of the main reasons we chose Savannah was because of the natural beauty that seemed to stop in time long ago. There are a lot of handmade features in the wedding, including the napkins, which were hand-sewn, and the material is carried over into the binding on the programs. Many of the items in the wedding (the blue ball mason jars, toile pattern, all-over alencon lace dress, the cake designed to match the dress, and even the custom cake topper) were all chosen for nostalgic or personal reasons, tributes to Shannon’s mother, etc. Robert chose navy blue to go with the ivory since it’s a classic Americana pairing, further complimented by the red flowers on the table. My favorite aspect of my wedding dress is that it is just timeless and classic — I feel like my mother could have worn the dress 50 years ago and it would still be beautiful today. I was in search of an all-over lace dress, and I just fell in love with this one as soon as I put it on. The designer added cap sleeves to the strapless design so it feels even more old-fashioned and romantic to me. The trim on the veil is an exact match to the rope embroidery in the dress. I loved the lace so much that we asked to have our cake detailed to match it.

Atlanta Wedding at Flint Hill from Kristy Dickerson Photography

The romance of Autumn always gets me. The seemingly haphazard floating of the colorful leaves as they fall to the ground to make the most diverse medleys of oranges and yellows and reds and browns might just be the reason why I am so blown away by this wedding from Kristy Dickerson Photography. I am oh-so-enchanted by all of the amazing portraits of these two sweethearts seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day on the steps of Flint Hill, whispering sweet nothings while surrounded by the Autumn woods, and holding each other close on the railroad tracks. Find every moment of this wedding in the gallery right here.

From the Bride… Having been together for seven years, Andrew and I always knew what type of wedding we wanted. Something small, intimate and cozy. The fall was always our FAVORITE time of year — leaves changing, cooler temperatures, the holidays. Being in northern Georgia, the leaves always tend to peak later than average, so we decided mid November would be the perfect time for our wedding! On the morning of our big day, we woke up to beautiful weather. Temperatures were in the mid 60s, and there was not a cloud in the sky. The colors of the fall leaves were gorgeous, just having peaked a week before, and they complemented our wedding palette perfectly!

Flint Hill could not have been a more perfect location for our fall wedding. It is a restored southern mansion, circa 1835, located in historic Norcross, Georgia, beautifully decorated and furnished, creating the perfect warm and romantic environment for our ceremony and reception. Because of the time change, we were able to sneak off across the street a few hours before the ceremony started to catch the last bit of daylight with our fabulous photographer, Kristy Dickerson. Railroad tracks, the sun setting, and seeing Andrew for the first time. It was perfect! The ceremony took place outdoors, with the temperature a very brisk 50 degrees! It felt like it came and went within a few seconds. As much as I tried to take it all in, it almost felt like a dream. The whole moment was a blur. I would not have changed a thing! After the ceremony, Andrew and I had our own intimate escape upstairs. One of my favorite moments of the night was that 30 minutes where we were able to be alone on our wedding night, to take everything in and enjoy our first meal together as husband and wife. I cannot explain to anyone in words how great our catering was that night! Everything was fantastic and only wish I had eaten more of it! For dessert, instead of a traditional wedding cake, we decided to go with a twist on the popular “cup” cakes. We did a Guinness Stout chocolate cake in tea cups, with toffee sauce, whipped cream and Heath bar crumbles. I probably ate three of them!

The night was perfect, and we could not have done it without the help of so many wonderful people. Our very good friend, Robert Cawthorne, was there as our cinematographer and captured our day beautifully, as well as the incredible staff at Flint Hill who made sure the day went by seamlessly. And to have such beautiful pictures taken by Kristy Dickerson, to look back on every year to remember our day — there is no better feeling! Andrew and I are so grateful to have had such wonderful friends and family there to share in our joy and could not have imagined a better day.

From the Bride… What a wonderful experience this wedding has been. I have such great family and friends who helped me through the planning process every step of the way. Choosing a venue was definitely the most challenging and time consuming part of planning. However, upon seeing Vinewood, we were convinced that this adorable rustic chic setting would be absolutely perfect for our wedding and would complement our vision of an elegant, vintage event. Not only was the venue stunning, but the owners were also amazing and helped us every step of the way while we planned the wedding. With the venue decided upon, we were able to continue with making other decisions for the wedding. A large part of the décor was accented with burlap and lace to accentuate the rustic and elegant vibe of the venue. I also decided to use mainly neutral colors in the wedding, which worked well with the natural feel of the venue. Our ceremony was outside under a large tree, from which we hung lanterns, and the reception was held in the stables. Being on a rather limited budget, my fiance and I decided to employ a lot of DIY ideas in our planning process. I had a wonderful team of my mom and sisters, and we did the programs, escort cards, table runners, and lavender pouches that were thrown upon our exiting the reception. It sure was a lot of work but definitely worth every bit — the wedding turned out beautifully.

The attire for the bridal party complemented the wedding colors perfectly. The bridesmaids wore a strapless J.Crew dress in a light driftwood color and nude pumps. The bouquets had a wildflower look with hints of gray and lavender to match the color of the dresses. The groomsmen wore suits a darker shade of gray, and they all looked very handsome. The boutonnieres were simple yet elegant and complemented the bridesmaids’ bouquets. My dress, which I absolutely love, had a full pleated skirt and fitted bodice with a thin waist line of sequins and rhinestones. I also wore a pair of vintage, navy, peep toe pumps that belong to my grandmother and were worn by her when she and my grandfather were married. It was simple yet stunning.

The reception was a blast, and everyone had a great time. From the delicious buffet to the rockin’ dance floor, it was a true party. Instead of the traditional wedding cake, we decided to go with cupcakes, which were absolutely amazing! The baker created a beautiful display with the cupcakes and the cake topper. After dancing the night away and spending time with our wonderful family and friends, we left the reception under a shower of lavender thrown by the guests. It was a beautiful night, and I will cherish the memories forever.

From A Big To Do EventAntonio and Chinnette were a planner’s dream come true! They understood every side of a wedding since they are both creative people who know the power of good logistics! The groom often works as a DJ and the bride goes by the nickname “The DJ’s Girl” (see her custom wedding gown hanger!), so they know how to throw a party! There was no short supply of love at this wedding as the couple was surrounded by family and friends (and the bride’s special group of ladies, the China Dolls!).

The couple got married in the courtyard of the Atlanta Contemporary Arts Center, where the rust of the beams draped with fabric and covered with lights added to the beauty of this vintage wedding. During the ceremony, the couple locked love letters to each other in a small trunk so they could relive how they felt on their wedding day and remember their promises to one another. Antonio and Chinnette chose to let a symbol of “LOVE” represent their day, substituting a peach for the O, which the couple’s friend carved in wood to serve as the guest book. A color scheme of purple, silver and ivory complemented the vintage feel as single stems came together to make dramatic centerpieces. More vintage trunks could be seen throughout the wedding to hold the ceremony programs by Foglio Press and favors of bottle openers for the men and pashminas for the ladies. The cake topper was custom made to look just like the bride and groom, complete with Antonio’s glasses! Guests danced under the stars and twinkle lights before sending the gorgeous newlyweds off with a sparkler exit!

Newnan Photo Shoot from Odalys Mendez Photography

I dare you not to look at this inspiration and instantly want to infuse every inch of your life in beautiful florals; wildly glamorous, uber bright, bohemian floral crown kinds of florals. That is just what Cloth of Gold set out to create with a photo shoot infused with loads of the aforementioned and imagery by Odalys Mendez Photography that brings all those pretty petals to life. If you’re a bohemian Bride -to-be or simply a lover of flora, grab all the inspiration your little heart can handle in the full gallery.

From Odalys Mendez PhotographyThis inspirational shoot was designed around a beautiful, lush flower crown made for a whimsical bride. Country Gardens Farm, a picturesque, organic vegetable and flower grower in Newnan, Georgia, lent the perfect backdrop for this couple’s natural, simple style. The floral elements were designed to create a fresh, just-picked-from-the-garden aesthetic and pull in the natural elements of the organic setting. A color palette of vivid hues adds to the element of whimsy and was beautifully set off by the warm, late summer light.

From Chancey Charm WeddingsWe had a lovely time working together on this shoot. It’s one of those situations where you feel like you’re throwing a party with close friends. Everyone working on this was completely committed to its success and had a positive attitude during the entire process, even day-of with 30 mph winds.

As a designer, I always take pride in sketching out fresh concepts for my inspired shoots and clients. I then take the vision I’ve sketched to other industry professionals for detail specifications and execution. I knew that I wanted to create a ceremony scene to highlight The Berkshire House’s gorgeous backdrop of rolling hills, miles of dark brown fences and charming weathered barn. I came up with a romantic, vintage concept of an arch backdrop filled with ribbons for the bride and groom to recite their vows in front of. I presented the concept of the ribbon-laden arch to the amazing ladies at Stylish Stems, and they took off with it! They really brought the concept to life in a way I couldn’t have dreamed of.  They incorporated lace into the arch, which we coordinated with the dress and overlay on the cake table that I personally picked out at Lewis and Sheron Textile Co. in Atlanta. Stylish Stems suggested that we bring in a chandelier over the cake table. I instantly feel in love with the idea. Event Rentals Unlimited was more than happy to provide rentals for the shoot, and the ladies at Vintage Vogue Event Rentals provided a gorgeous mercury glass cake stand for the ruffled cake, lovingly made by Eileen Carter of Eileen Carter Creations. The handmade details of custom-made earrings and a bow tie that coordinated with the ribbon sealed the feel for an adorable couple, who graciously provided us with their evening. Gisele of Happy Kiss Photography brought the shoot to life with unique angles and images full of detail and romance.

Savannah Photo Shoot from Austin Warnock Photography

I may call New England home now, but I spent my younger years under the southern sun. It was a childhood full of front porches and sweet tea, tradition and seersucker. So it goes without saying, shoots like this on from Austin Warnock Photography bring back the prettiest of memories. It’s filled with all the reasons why southern weddings make my heart skip a beat, and it’s all sitting pretty right here.

From Austin Warnock PhotographyThe inspiration for this photo shoot is taken from the romantic and southern vibe that defines Savannah, Georgia. We used the fairytale backdrop of the moss-draped trees infused with layers of white on white details and pops of muted peach. Many textures helped make up our palette for this garden infused wedding inspiration. The suit worn by the groom is a very traditional southern seersucker that stayed true to the white and textured palette and was paired with an ivory linen tie. Minette from Minette Rushing Custom Cakes of Savannah created an elegant ruffled white cake that was a great centerpiece to the romantic outdoor inspiration. Dauphine Press perfectly matched their paper goods using pops of peach and stylish calligraphy with a sophisticated blind emboss to bring another subtle touch of texture. Many thanks to our awesome hair and makeup artists, as well as to Bleubelle Bridal for lending the gorgeous Vera Wang dress! The stunning florals designed by A to Zinnias of Savannah were as southern as it gets. They created a gorgeous cascading bouquet that harmonized perfectly with the palette and southern flair. Beautiful white centerpieces eloquently adorned the vintage farm tables amongst the Spanish moss to create a magical setting.

We used vintage linens to create DIY sachets filled with dried, aromatic lavender as gift favors for guests. The peach rosette necklace was a vintage find from one of the many antique stores in Savannah, Georgia, and what’s a southern party without some sweet tea and bourbon combined to make a southern cocktail for your guest to enjoy?

The beautiful models, Madonna and Michael, are real-life sweethearts and will be wed soon in Savannah.

From the Bride… Nic and I both attended the Savannah College of Art and Design but actually met in Los Angeles through mutual friends after graduation. It seemed fitting to hold our wedding in the beautiful city of Savannah, Georgia, because without first attending SCAD, we might never have met at all!

We’re both creative people, so it was important to us to infuse the wedding with personal and handmade touches. Our invitation suite became our labor of love. We spent months designing it with the help of our friend and best man and had it printed by a local letterpress shop in San Francisco. I designed and hand-made “escort cards,” which were fabric flowers with a hair clip on the back that were clipped to a bamboo dowel. One of my favorite memories from the day was walking into our reception and seeing all of our guests wearing the flowers in their hair and clipped to their jacket lapels. It felt so personal and touching. Nearly every element of the wedding had handmade touches. I sewed the gray and white chevron table runners, and my mom made a banner for the guest trolleys and the beautiful yellow felt flower that adorned our cake. Our programs, table numbers, guestbook and bridesmaid jewelry were all handmade by us or purchased on Etsy.

We were married at the Historic Isaiah Davenport House courtyard with a small garden ceremony. Our guests were then treated to a trolley tour of the city, and we all celebrated together with a reception at Vic’s on the River overlooking the Savannah River.

From Ashley Seawell PhotographyKatie and Tripp chose to say their vows at their place of worship, Roswell Presbyterian Church. After the ceremony, guests were invited to celebrate at the historic Atlanta Athletic Club. An elegant combination of navy blue and blush pink was used throughout the ceremony and reception. Lush arrangements of peonies, hydrangea and roses adorned both the church and the stunning ballroom. The talented team at Gardenia Floral Design used a mix of vases to create various centerpieces for the guests’ tables. At the end of the night, guests left with a few Atlanta favorites: bottled Coke and Krispy Kreme doughnuts.  Perhaps the most exciting moment of the evening was when Katie surprised her groom with a rare Duesenburg car as their getaway! (The groom’s family descends from the original makers of the Duesenburg car.)

And even more of this gorgeous day from the ever-amazing Artworks Wedding Cinema.  Enjoy!

From the Bride… Last October, Austin and I went on a weekend trip to Charleston. It is our favorite spot to visit during the fall, and we always spend hours walking around downtown, but we had never been out to any of the beaches there. The second morning of our trip, Austin woke me up extra early to go see Folly Beach, where we got engaged! It was one of the sweetest moments in my life, and I will always cherish our special weekend away. I was so excited to dive into our wedding that I started making notes on the drive back home to Georgia.

Wedding planning was one of the most enjoyable things I’ve ever done. I loved every aspect of the planning process. From the beginning, I knew I wanted a traditional wedding. For our ceremony, Austin and I agreed that we wanted the elegance and grace that comes with being in a church, and I wanted that to carry over into our reception. My event decorator, Andy Beach, was so easy to work with.  The first time we met I told him that I wanted a “colorless” wedding with the fullest flower blooms he could find. The vision for our wedding day was classic with a contemporary twist. I really didn’t give him any other guidelines, yet somehow he created exactly what I had dreamed of. I am still amazed at the beautiful flower arrangements Andy and his team created. They used lots and lots of hydrangeas with cabbage roses, peonies and ranunculus. Everything was beautiful and just perfect.

Stunning as the decor was, the most important detail of our wedding was making sure that we had fun. I told my parents several times that we wanted the beginning of our wedding to be traditional and sweet, but that after dinner I wanted a fun mess out on the dance floor — and that is exactly what we got! My dad picked the band before I even knew who they were, and they did not disappoint. Our friends and family danced and sang the night away. It really was the best night of our lives. Before the night ended we gave all of our guest fresh apple pies from McDonald’s in a special box to remind them that “Love is Sweet.”

From the Bride… John-Paul and I met at a Halloween party in 2010. We were both newly divorced and struggling with that stigma. We were happy to find understanding from each other and quickly became a couple. We have worked hard to not repeat our past mistakes and make sure this marriage is our last. Although previously married, we wanted to make our commitment to each other a day we would always remember surrounded by those we love. Our wedding was in the north Georgia mountains in the town of Blue Ridge. We had had the ceremony at a rustic little chapel in the woods, Pleasant Gap Tarpley Chapel, that is only used once a year for a family reunion. It was built in the 1800s but was rebuilt in the early 1900s. We had a cocktail reception right next to the chapel in my family’s blueberry patch, and our reception was held at our second home right down a gravel road from the chapel. My family and extended family owns all the land between the chapel and our second home, and I grew up coming to these mountains and driving past the little white chapel in the woods. When I brought John-Paul to the mountains for the first time, he was completely at home, and since then, it’s been a special place for us. My parents passed away in 2007, and this was also a very special place for them, so it felt like a great way to honor both my parents and our relationship to have our wedding there. A couple of other things we did to honor my parents were that I wore my mother’s wedding veil, and we used my mother’s vintage napkins at the reception. She loved vintage linens and had over 100 white napkins.

We created most of the decor components ourselves, with lots of help from our friends and family. Our vision was rustic and simple, with neutral colors, burlap, twine and mason jars. All the pallet furniture and the popcorn cart at the cocktail reception were built by John-Paul and me, with the help of Pinterest. I made the large moss B hanging on the chapel, the burlap table runners, the mason jar table numbers, the matchbooks, the napkin rings, the signs and programs. I used my silhouette machine to make all the signs and used mostly pallet wood and frames from the thrift store that I painted and transformed. I like simplicity when it comes to flowers, so I also did the flower arrangements and bouquets. I scoured thrift stores for books about love or weddings and used those under the table number markers. We got the honey from a local beekeeper, and we’ve gotten so many compliments since the wedding about how amazing it is.

The day was exactly what we wanted. Everything was perfect and reflected “us.” The one funny incident, which you will see in the pictures, is that while I was waiting to walk down the aisle, I was standing over a yellow jackets’ nest. As I started down the aisle, my uncle jerked me back and started trying to release the 20 yellow jackets that were caught between my dress and the lace overlay. Thankfully, they were not against my skin and no one got stung. It at least kept me from crying down the aisle.  John-Paul’s daughter, and now my stepdaughter, Kaila, was our flower girl. We had a special place for the kids to eat and play until the dancing started, and they all had a blast, as you will see in the pictures.

From Ashley Buzzy McHugh of Buzzy CrafteryThe bride and groom in this lovely affair are Ashleigh and Jeff. From the first moment we connected with Ashleigh, we knew she had been dreaming of this day for a long time. She was focused and clear about what she wanted the wedding feel like, but with a joyfulness and creativity that made it an exciting project to work on from beginning to end. More than anything, Ashleigh wanted the day to feel festive, colorful, bright and fun (without getting so casual that a little “sparkle and bling” would look out of place!). She wanted to incorporate some handmade and vintage pieces without going overboard on a theme. In the end, we agreed that using punchy colors, sparking glitter and lots of candles would be a winning combination.

The day of the wedding, our team couldn’t help pulling out our phones to Instagram a detail here and there — it was more beautiful than even we had imagined. The groom came with some friends to set up a masterfully-engineered lighting scheme and a giant framed screen they had made to display a slideshow during dinner! This bride and groom were so handy and creative that many times I thought about offering them jobs working on our future weddings! As soon as the ceremony started, there was a sweet happiness that filled the room. Ashleigh was a picture-perfect, glowing bride. We were so privileged to share in this day with Ashleigh and Jeff!

From the Bride… People are always surprised to hear that Jeff and I endured a six-year, long-distance relationship, but to me, it was easy. We both wanted to complete masters degrees and respected each others’ choice to pursue education and put our own relationship on hold. We racked up a lot of cell phone minutes and Skype dates and anxiously awaited the next face-to-face meeting for weeks or months at a time. There were rough times, but it never mattered when we finally were together again.

Jeff proposed on New Year’s Eve 2010. We both relocated to Atlanta (me from DC and Jeff from Illinois) and started planning our wedding immediately. The vision for the wedding changed probably 25 times. I spent a lot of time on Pinterest and wedding blogs and almost had too many ideas to choose from when thinking about our wedding. We knew we wanted the wedding to be comfortable and far from stuffy. We wanted pure merriment and a room filled with love and happiness, so we tried to choose all the details we thought would facilitate those feelings. Jeff was totally hands-on during the entire process and designed all the lighting, which included a big white chandelier and twinkling lights throughout the room. We also collected vintage dinner plates during the year and a half before the wedding to give to our guests as wedding favors. We went on several road trips just scouring thrift stores for beautiful plates! We also collected vintage teacups along the way, which Jeff turned into hand-poured candles for the decor. Some of our favorite aspects of the wedding were the beautiful flowers, candles, lighting and just the feeling in the room. It felt casual and celebratory, yet still important and emotional. All of our vendors were amazing and really gave us our dream wedding, and the best part was having all our friends and family in one place. It truly was a big love fest, which is exactly what he had hoped for the entire time.
