Autumn Al Fresco Bridal Shower

Now that our bellies are stuffed with turkey and our hearts full of thanks, we’re holding on to the last bits of autumn before winter hits the scene. And what better way to savor the season than a bridal shower centered on just that. It’s an outdoor gathering of girlfriends coordinated by Candice Beaty and blooms by Rebekah Clark Moody. More from Kathryn McCrary in  the pretty gallery right here.

Colors

From Kathryn McCraryWith fall in full swing, crisp colors and warm afternoons are to be cherished and savored. Candice Beaty (of Chancey Charm Weddings) used this as an excuse to pull together some of her favorite vendors and create an autumn themed bridal shower. Using ruby reds, cozy sweaters and the ever-lovable golden delicious apple as her inspiration, she styled the photo shoot to be carefree and intimate so that no maid of honor or bridesmaid would feel threatened to throw a similar shower for their bride-to-be.

American Threads provided the girls with fun and casual fall clothes that Molly Webb used to style the girls effortlessly. Claudia Mejerle topped off the looks with soft makeup and flowy hair to give the girls a polished yet fresh look for the shower.

Beautifully customized place settings (by Jenn Gietzen) adorned with an apple favor welcomed the girls into a yummy luncheon in the autumn daylight. Crisp bourbon cocktails, delectable plum and apple treats after a scrumptious and yummy feast (from Heirloom Café and Shae Rehmel of home.made catering) all filled the guests tummies as they laughed together.

Breathtaking florals (by Rebekah Clark Moody) dreamily captured the essence of fall’s warmth in a natural way. A stunning fabric hanging (another Jenn Gietzen stunner) with a quote to celebrate their friendships was the perfect addition to an already gorgeous ivy backdrop. Kathryn McCrary was able to capture all of the gorgeous details of the day and the celebration of the shower to showcase all of the wonderful inspiration for the autumn themed bridal shower.

Jenn’s banner reads “You’re pretty much my most favorite of all time in the history of ever”, which perfectly sums up how all of these vendors feel about this day spent together creating this beautiful fall photo shoot.

Rustic, Elegant Wedding in Georgia at Vinewood Plantation

This wedding is so incredibly special. Special in the way that it is gorgeous, but also in the way that it is meaningful. It’s glamorous, but filled with so much heart you can’t help but feel something when pouring through Amy Arrington‘s stunning images. It’s warm, it’s cozy, it’s elegant, it’s filled with love –  it’s absolutely perfect. See just what I mean here.

From Amy Arrington PhotographyThe couple, Megan Loflin + Joe Sommers, were married at Vinewood Plantation on November 22, 2013, just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. We loved their “glitter + gold glam” theme at their reception. Fun fact about their “get away car” … it makes an appearance the Zac Brown Band’s music video called “Sweet Annie.”

From The Bride…My now husband, Joe, popped the question while we were visiting New York City, where we’d met while residing there two and half years ago. Having grown up in North Carolina and Georgia, we felt a strong calling to begin our next chapter in the South.

Friends and family were coming from all over the country for our wedding, so we really wanted them to experience a southern affair at its finest! We served apple pie moonshine during the cocktail hour, BBQ, for dinner and southern inspired confections for dessert. We danced the night away to an awesome, classic southern rock band!

My gown was my Grandmother’s, which had also been worn by my Mother and Great Aunt on their wedding days. With the help of a fantastic seamstress in Atlanta, we were able to redesign the gown into a style that better suited me. The gown turned out beautifully and the sentimental value of it is worth its weight in gold (which I used as my core color!).

Even though we chose a beautiful, rustic venue, I really wanted to create a glamorous setting inside the stable. With the help of some of the most talented people I have ever met, including my wedding planner, Eva Clark, this was accomplished. The best part is that our photographer captured our wedding perfectly and I can almost relive the day every time I look through the photo gallery!

Sophisticated Atlanta Wedding at the Georgian Terrace Hotel

Where do I even begin with this sweet Georgia fête? Perhaps we should start with the Bride’s gorgeous Monique Lhuillier gown or the stunning florals from Design House or beautiful ballroom at Georgian Terrace Hotel. Wherever you start, the images from Paige Jones will have you happy beyond belief, and it’s all waiting for you here.

From The Bride…May 17, 2014 was the best day of my life. I, the Georgia peach, was marrying the man of my dreams, the NY apple. I felt no venue was more fitting than the historic Georgian Terrace Hotel. I wanted my big day to be Southern and sophisticated and simply dripping in romance. The ceremony and reception were covered in several shades of white and gold with candles and flowers scattered throughout. It was beyond my wildest dreams. But while my vision of a wedding full of romance came to fruition, there was no lack of celebration! Dancing the night away with my new husband, family, and close friends in my perfect wedding gown will forever be in my memory.

Bright and Elegant Atlanta Wedding

I’ve got a soft spot for long time loves and this darling duo is no exception. After almost nine years of courtship they wed in a French-themed affair infused with a dash of Dominican flair and Southern cuisine. Every detail was saturated with purpose, including the colorfully crafted florals by Rittenhouse Design & Events and Love Like Weddings was there to capture every vibrant moment.

From the Bride… We’ve been together for 8.5 years. Those years together as boyfriend and girlfriend may seem long to some but for me they went by so quickly. It’s like they say, time flies when you’re having fun. We’ve lived in many tiny apartments, traveled together and shared so many momentous occasions in between. He’s made me smile and laugh through it all (even if it causes a few smile lines and crows feet, it’s been worth it).

Jeremy and I met in NYC while attending college and the connection was instant. He was so vulnerable and unashamed to express his feelings. It was refreshing to meet someone so honest. It made it so easy to reciprocate that honesty. He’s my confidant and knows more about me than anyone in the world. Jeremy puts so much love and care into our relationship. So when he proposed to me it became my goal to create a celebration that was a physical manifestation of my love for him.

I decided to take the reins and plan my entire wedding. I wanted in on every bit of the wedding, from my mothers makeup to the flower girl’s shoes. Thank god for Pinterest! Since I wanted in on every single detail it was very difficult accepting help. But towards the finish line accepting help became necessary. For instance, I gave Jeremy the responsibility of picking up the rentals and put his mom and uncle in charge of the welcoming favors for out of town guests. I was so relieved and appreciative for any little bit of help.

We went with a French theme but made it so that we’d incorporate both our backgrounds. Jeremy is from the south, so we had red velvet cupcakes and half the buffet was Southern comfort food. I’m Dominican, so we also had Dulce de Leche cupcakes and the other half of the buffet was Dominican Cuisines. Basically, our wedding was a Foodie’s paradise.

The most memorable moment for me was walking down the aisle with my father and looking at all the smiling faces of our guests. It was surreal and overwhelming all at once. Overall, our wedding was a labor of love. But I couldn’t of made it a reality without the love and support of both our families and friends.

Rustic Lakeside Engagement

I am a hopeless romantic – so it’s no surprise that I love this couple’s story. By a twist of fate their paths crossed, and their connection undeniable (as you can tell from the gorgeous images by Amy Arrington!). After a year of long distance romance traversing the country, a proposal took place, and luckily we get to share it with you today. So cozy up to some coffee and scroll through the seasonal gallery here.

From Kristi + Pete…Peter and Kristi met a college football game in September 2010 the University of Alabama hosted a game against Penn State University. Kristi had just graduated from the University of Alabama and was visiting Tuscaloosa, Alabama with some girlfriends (and future bridesmaids) for the game. Peter and his friends (future groomsmen) had also planned a guy’s trip for the football weekend. The two schools only play every 15 years so it was by luck that they met!

Pete and Kristi met on the Friday night before the game at the college hangout where Kristi spent many of her college days, Gallettes. Although there are different versions of how the conversation sparked, some could say we owe it all to Pete’s best man, Pat, who initially approached Kristi’s friends.

There was an insanely instant connection. Despite living on opposite sides of the coast, Pete and Kristi kept in touch after the game and began talking daily (Kristi was living in Atlanta as a newspaper reporter & magazine editor and Pete was living in Boston in the financial industry). A month later, while each visiting friends in New York City (Kristi was visiting bridesmaid, Lauren and Pete was visiting groomsman, Frank), Kristi and Peter were able to spend another weekend together and they knew it was meant to be. After their NYC getaway, Kristi and Peter maintained their relationship. Every couple weeks they would fly to visit each other. Kristi’s mom was a flight attendant and so Kristi and Pete would use buddy passes and fly to random cities—aka whatever flights had seats open. Everyone thought they were both crazy! A long story short, after a year of long distance, Kristi and Peter moved to California together where they have been for the last three-and-a-half years. Kristi worked as an Associate Producer at the Dr. Phil television show and Pete continues to thrive in finance industry.

In the summer of 2013, Pete was offered a great opportunity to work as a wholesaler in his hometown city of Philadelphia—It was a move that they couldn’t turn town. Kristi was lucky enough to stay on the Dr. Phil staff and was offered a position as Booking Producer for Dr. Phil, while living in Philadelphia… The two have been living in Society Hill neighborhood of Philly ever since!

Pete surprised Kristi with a weekend trip to the quaint, Catalina Island, off the CA coast. The island is tiny… only 22 miles long and 8 miles across! They spent the day exploring the island and before dinner, Pete proposed to Kristi on the rooftop overlooking the ocean… it was supposed to be at sunset, but of course, Kristi found the ring box while getting ready. It sent Pete into a panic-attack frenzy, and after attempting to “hide” the box under the bed, Pete realized there was no turning back. The proposal happened about an hour earlier than planned, but it was a perfect and very “us” proposal!

Engagement pictures were taken in Kristi’s hometown on Lake Oconee where her family lives, and in Madison where she went to high school.

Romantic Outdoor Wedding Amongst the Trees

This Georgia wedding is so thoughtfully personalized, using treasured family antiques decorating the reception and small wooden boats floating on the surrounding ponds as a nod to the groom’s love for sailing. It’s moments like that, planned by Chancey Charm Weddings with florals by Gertie Mae’s Floral Studio, that make this day so special. The images by Odalys Mendez Photography certainly help too. See this gorgeous day unfold right here.

From Odalys Mendez PhotographyA collector and artisan at heart, Leah knew when she started planning her dream wedding that she would be involved in every last detail. She incorporated family heirlooms and traditions into the day, bringing treasured family antiques to the gardens to make her guests feel like a part of her home. The day was a warm meeting of family and friends, surrounded by the beauty of nature, and steeped in relaxed southern comfort. Heirloom photographs of ancestors were included in the invitation suite. To honor the groom’s interest in boating, small wooden sailboats floated on ponds throughout the venue.

Romantic Georgian Wedding Inspiration

There is nothing I love more than a fresh and beautiful DIY and this wedding shoot from French Knot Studios and Izzy Hudgens Photography has done not only that (the embroidery hoop centerpiece is to die for) but continued the fab in a shoot inspired by the beauty of Georgia. And it is perfect.

From French Knot StudiosGeorgia is known for peaches, but it’s also known for cotton, peanuts, and honey. With these products as our inspiration, we created some romantic ideas. Ruffled flowers, hues of burgundy and peach, and a sweet tea bar are just a few of the lovely elements. A hanging centerpiece of embroidery hoops with handmade paper and lush florals doubles as a fun prop for portraits. Honeycomb hexagons line the aisle, and make perfect garnish skewers for the iced tea. You can also include the hexagon with the wedding invite for guests to send back with well wishes written in. Then line the aisle with all the sweet thoughts from your loved ones. Gold gilded packages with long satin ribbons decorate a pile of presents. A decadent vanilla wedding cake covered in whipped peanut butter icing and topped with fresh, local honeycomb is the perfect way to end the evening. With a beautiful view of Savannah’s historic skyline, the Westin’s gazebo and crisp lawn is a delightful venue for weddings.

Destination Wedding on Saint Simons Island

Oh to be a rose in the bouquet at this wedding. Not only would you catch everything romantic about Alea Moore’s photographs in real time – like the boat ride entrance or the sweet lineup of the littlest attendants – but I’m guessing you’d have an inside look at a beautiful love, being situated so close to this stunning couple.

From Alea Moore PhotographyWe can see exactly why Allyson and Gardner decided to have their destination wedding in beautiful Saint Simons Island. Their wedding was just perfection. With a long classic veil and family heirloom jewelry, custom ties for the guys, gold and aqua accents, the live oaks with spanish moss, gorgeous florals, The Boathouse, the custom made table runners, a seriously cute couple, to the amazing boat ride entrance. Its hard not to fall in love with this wedding! Every single detail was spectacular! Of course I wouldn’t expect anything less from the amazing ladies at Caroline Carter Events. Our favorite part of the day was the couple being introduced to their reception by boat! You’d never guess it had been a downpour rain earlier in the day and we were unsure if they would even be allowed to have their boat ride. So thankful it stayed dry enough for such a fun and memorable part of their day! Such a beautifully classic with so many unique details.

Adorable Atlanta Botanical Gardens Engagement Session

When this sweet, sweet duo landed their cute little selves onto my screen, they stole a little piece of my heart and tucked it away in this tiny, but love-filled gallery from Gracie Blue Photography. And let me tell you, it’s filled to the brim. Filled with ear-to-ear grins, gentle forehead kisses, hand holding amongst the tulips and one furry little white friend that just so happened to steal my heart, too.

From Gracie Blue PhotographyMelissa and Michael are such a fantastic couple. Any description I give wont do them justice, so here are a few of my favorite things they had to say about each other.

From The Groom…I love the way she looks out for everyone but herself. How she is more concerned about the welfare of others than her own. It fits well because she is the only thing I really care about, so it allows me to take care of her while she takes care of the rest of the world. That’s why we fit together so well.

From The Bride… I love how he’s not afraid of anything, and he truly believes that–no matter what happens in life–things will always work out in the end. I am definitely the worrier of the two of us, and he can always comfort me and convince me that everything will be okay. Watching how he lives life so fully and without fear encourages me to be strong and brave.

We can play normal in front of other people (for the most part), but when it’s just the two of us, all bets are off. We always seem to be making jokes and running around the house playing with each other. We’ve given up on saying any version of the word “hello” to each other after being apart for any length of time, instead opting to scream, “LOVE!” upon being reunited.

Elegant Lakeside Georgia Wedding

There’s something about this simple lakeside wedding that feels like a breath of fresh air. Perhaps the rich, purple hues or the quiet natural setting, or the photos from Alea Moore that tell the story best. It’s spring wedding loveliness defined and you can click right here for so much more.

From Alea Moore Photography…Just outside of Atlanta, this lovely lakeside wedding where the bride and groom’s hope was that their guests got to enjoy a getaway from the hustle of the city, enjoy a laid back waterside day and then dine by candlelight with the view of the lake as the sun set over the water. Shortly after, getting to celebrated with dancing by the classic tunes of the grapevine 10 piece band.

The colors of deep purple in the bridesmaids dresses with green florals brought such a lovely accent to the day. Each of the groomsmen were given custom monogramed suspenders. Along the driftwood touches, and floralscapes created such a romantic day!

A fun sparkler exit to the brides grandfathers 1964 Mustang convertible was the perfect way to end the night.

Simply Southern Savannah Inspiration Shoot at The Davenport Museum

We see so much pretty come out of the gorgeous city of Savannah, we can barely keep track. And we can add this gorgeous shoot dreamt up by Design Studio South to the tippy top of that pretty list. From the stunning southern inspired style to the gorgeous florals from A To Zinnias and everything in between, these images from Mackensey Alexander Photography are simply divine.

From Design Studio SouthWe love the south, Savannah in particular. We couldn’t feel more blessed to be a part of such a lovely industry, with so many talented individuals. We coordinated this shoot with the intention to collaborate with some of our all time favorite local vendors, and to of course get some lovely photos out of it.

The idea – simply. southern: a groom that happily carries his brides train, a biscuit bar, a hand made bow tie made of vintage lace, a fluffy tulle gown, and big beautiful classic hair. Can you tell we had fun?

Rustic, Elegant Georgia Wedding at Indigo Falls

I wish I could pinpoint a single detail of this gorgeous day that I love more than the others, but the truth is, I do believe I love every single moment in these stunning images from Rustic White Photography. They paint the picture of a day that was as meaningful as it was beautiful, and that leaves us with a gallery that is almost too good to be true. See what I mean here.

From The Bride…Ben and I first met at TMB where we were both students. We were first introduced at a Christmas Party and later when with a group of friends ice skating and that is when we hit it off. We continues to talk through Christmas and into the new year. We made things “official” after school got back in session and continues to date and get to know each other. After a year of dating Ben proposed to me on my birthday which is New Years Eve after a day of surprises. I would finish school and Ben would have one more year left before he would graduate and we would get married. This past summer we got the opportunity to serve in a church together as interns in Hawaii, which was amazing for us. We both plan on being in ministry in some capacity. We will be moving from Georgia to Texas after the wedding for Ben to continue in school for future ministry.

There are several different parts of our wedding that will make it so special for us. For one, we will both have our hometown Pastors play a part of our ceremony. This truly means so much to Ben and I to have them marry us because they have made a huge impact on each of our lives. Another personal and special touch that we have made to our wedding is that we decided to write our own vows to each other. Truly one of the most special and unique parts of our ceremony will be when Ben and I wash each other’s feet. In the Bible in the book of John verse 13, Jesus washed his disciples feet as a final proof of his love for them. Through this act of love he was setting the example of humility and servanthood. The act of us washing each other’s feet shows the importance of serving one another in a way that glorifies God in our marriage. After, we will have a precious and memorable moment as our wedding party comes and prays over us. A family bible will be used as the ring barriers pillow and photos of loved ones who have passed will be displayed at our reception.

Elegant Affair at The Georgian Terrace

When I first laid eyes on this beauty from Belle Of The Ball Events and Our Labor Of Love By Heidi, I couldn’t help but be mesmerized by it’s sparkly, shining elegance. The Georgian Terrace, the iconic hotel with it’s delicate marble detailing, grand staircases and fancy chandeliers paved the way for every inch of sophistication and Gertie Mae’s Floral Studio added just the right amount of romance with their lush florals. Head to the gallery to be enchanted.

From the beautiful Bride…There are some moments in time that will forever stay with you. Just a blip on the radar when you think about a lifetime, but no matter how much time passes it always stays clear and vivid in your memory. Mainly because you know that from that moment on you will never be the same. First laying eyes on Rob in that quaint Baltimore bar, Memorial Day weekend 2011, is one of those moments. He was confident, sensitive yet strong…incredibly handsome. He took me off guard with his charm and impressed me with his chivalry—the man of my dreams. Two days after we met that day in May, we went on our first date and 6 months later we were engaged to be married. Not long after, prompted by a job opportunity for Rob, we packed ourselves up, kissed our hometown of Baltimore goodbye and moved to Atlanta. While we missed (and still miss) the Chesapeake Bay, crab cakes and our families dearly, we were happy to embrace the warmness of both the people and the weather in the south. Although, I must admit, when it came time for us to plan our special day, we didn’t quite know where to begin. Having just moved to this southern city, we knew little about where we wanted to tie the knot. I knew only that I wanted Veronica Lake inspired waves and Rob, well, he just knew he wanted me as his wife. So, as I assume most newly engaged couples do, we began exploring venues. And while a few outdoor locations did steal my attention, the Georgian Terrace stole my heart. Everything about the chandeliers, marble floors, delicately spiraled staircases and intricate architecture of the iconic hotel held an elegance that allowed us to envision our love story unfolding between its walls. We wanted a palette and florals that complimented the innate beauty of the ballroom, so we kept it romantic, yet classic with ivory and blush tones. Hints of gold arrived in the reception decor as it seemed only right to include them in such a grand space. As a designer for a living, I delightfully took the invitation look and feel upon myself. The beauty and art of letterpress has always held a special place in my heart, so we enlisted the help of Farmwood Press to have my designs crafted that way. Before stuffing and sending them off, Rob and I wrapped each invitation suite in a tulle bow and then Myrtle and Lloyd, a local calligrapher, added to the loveliness by hand addressing each one. After we had selected the reception venue, we needed to nail down the ceremony location. This was easy for us as Rob and I had always talked of wanting a sacred occasion of love and commitment. Therefore, exchanging vows at the breathtaking Cathedral of Christ the King was the perfect choice. One of my fondest memories today is walking down that magnificent aisle towards my groom as Pachelbel’s ever-lovely “Canon in D” was played on the harp. It was magical! After our nuptials, Rob and I were whisked to the reception in a 1947 Rolls Royce Silver Wrath while buses transported our guests to cocktail hour. There they noshed on hors d’oeuvres and sipped champagne while a pianist filled the air with classic love songs. After a seated dinner and toasts, guests spilled onto the floor and danced to an array of tunes by Chris Watson of Lethal Rhythms. To cap off the evening we had milk and cookies passed at midnight and gave out sunglasses in an array of colors shortly there after. Rob and I danced joyfully together well into the morning hours, surrounded by a 100 of our nearest and dearest — me with my Veronica Lake curls (and my dear husband!) and Rob with his wife.

Behind The Blog: Waiting On Martha

You know when you meet someone and you just know you’re going to be lifelong friends? Well that’s kind of how I feel about Mandy of Waiting on Martha. She’s no stranger to SMP (in fact, she’s part of our contributor network!) but we’ve yet to take the chance to delve a little deeper. With photos from Rustic White, we’re going behind the blog!

SMP: Tell us a little about Waiting on Martha!
MKR: Waiting On Martha is a lifestyle blog with the philosophy of making every day beautiful. From food and cocktail recipes, decorating tips, fashion and beauty tutorials and most importantly, entertaining ideas, I believe that everything, no matter the apparent importance, presents a reason to celebrate and raise a glass.

SMP: What’s one change you made that really made your blog thrive?
MKR: Original imagery really made my blog thrive. With millions of blogs penned daily, I knew I would have to make a splash and I’ve tried to do that by telling stories through gorgeous imagery. Whether it’s a simple cocktail party or a lavish dinner party, I want my readers to be able to visualize my ideas so that they can truly put them to use.

SMP: What piece of advice would you give to a blogger just starting out?
MKR: Don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s end. Some bloggers have been around for a decade and they didn’t have millions of followers from the start. It takes time to cultivate an identity and loyal readership. Also, be consistent. Blogging is a job, so if you promise your readers 5 blogs a week, then you better blog 5 days a week.

SMP: If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would your message be?
MKR: Kindness. The world would be a much better place if we could all be kinder–kinder to each other and kinder to ourselves.

SMP: If you could do it all over again, would you change anything?
MKR: No. I truly believe that where I am in this exact moment is where I’m supposed to be. Life is too short for “should’ve, could’ve, would’ve.”

SMP: Your most favorite item in your home?
MKR: My Gray Malin, A la’ Montagne, Top of Aspen Mountain photograph. It’s huge (36 x 54) and framed in a gorgeous white lacquer. It was the first piece of art I invested in and it represents the Mr. and my love of skiing, so it’s very personal.

SMP: Three things every style savvy homeowner should have?
MKR: Every style savvy homeowner should have a well-styled and stocked bar cart so he/she can be ready to throw a party with a 20-minute notice. They should also have a personal collection of something. Whether it’s of coffee table books, ginger jars, or Staffordshire dogs, a collection is a personal touch that will stay with you from house to house. Finally, high quality bedding is essential. You spend half of your life sleeping so you might as well be comfortable!

SMP: What’s your best tip for balancing work and personal life?
MKR: Work hard play hard. I may work more than I play, but when I’m spending time with friends, family, the Mr., or even enjoying some quiet time to myself, my phone is off and I’m 100% in the now.

SMP: The best job you ever had?
MKR: This job! It’s a job I never expected to have and I now I can’t imagine doing anything else. I really am living my dream.

SMP: What advice would you give to your younger self?
MKR: Live in the moment. Learn a second language. Don’t pine for adulthood because you’ll be an adult much longer than you’ll be young. Take school a bit more seriously and always wash your makeup off before bed.

SMP: What’s your secret to success?
MKR: Hustle, humility, and understanding. Hustle. If you want a thriving blog, business or relationship you have to work at it every single day. Humility. I love the quote “work hard in silence, let your success be your noise.” Understanding. I think the biggest key to success is honest understanding. You have to understand yourself, your business, your audience and your competitors and keep adjusting your game plan to that reality.

SMP: Why do you think Waiting on Martha has done so well?
MKR: I think Waiting On Martha has done well because I try to put an original spin on everything we create. I also try to share content that offers something for everyone: recipes for foodies, entertaining ideas for the hostess, outfits for the fashion forward, and interior inspiration for the decor obsessed.

Altanta Floral Engagement Shoot

Our next dose of inspiration comes to us in the form of this beyond charming engagement picnic. (Can we make that a thing please!?!?) Brought to us by Kait Murphy Photography it’s as effortless and as it is elegant, as romantic as it is rustic. The florals alone are enough to make us start swooning… and can we talk about those adorable save the date tees?!? There’s even more where that came from and it’s all right here in the gallery.

From Kait Murphy PhotographyIt was an absolute dream to shoot Kelsey and Taylor. They are such a beautiful couple and we could all really see how truly in love they are as they kissed at sunrise, danced in the gazebo, and splashed their feet off the dock.

We were inspired by The Lumineers song “Flowers in Your Hair” to create a dreamy, natural, and earthy feel to elevate the typical picnic to a romantic date where the couple could escape wedding planning and start dreaming about the honeymoon and their marriage. With an amazing team of vendors gathered by The Not Wedding we were able to put together a romantic sunrise inspiration shoot and we’ll be teaming up again for the 2nd Not Wedding in Athens on April 3rd!

Blush Pink Georgia Garden Wedding

I don’t know about you, but Friday and a heaping dose of pink go together hand in hand in my book. And that’s exactly what Brita Photography is serving up for us this afternoon. Not only is this soiree sweetly covered in blush galore, but it’s pretty freaking adorable to boot. Did you see Jackson, the couple’s golden? He’s hanging out with the rest of the cuteness that the gallery holds.

From Brita PhotographyWe’re excited to share Emily & Stephen’s romantic outdoor wedding with you! I met Emily and Stephen (and their sweet dog Jackson!) for the first time at their engagement session. They were so easy going and natural in front of the camera, and I couldn’t wait for their wedding day. Emily and Stephen incorporated blush pink and gray colors into their wedding day; the bridesmaids picked out their own dresses at different stores, making the pictures so unique and beautiful. I love that the colors were the same, but the styles were completely different and matched each bridesmaids’ personality. The groomsmen coordinated with matching blush ties, gray suits, and fun pink socks!

I met up with Emily and all her bridesmaids in the bridal suite of Kimball Hall as they finished their last hair and makeup touches. Meanwhile, Nick was with Stephen and his groomsmen already getting a start on pictures. It was such a special day, and the love that Emily and Stephen share is the sweetest. Stephen and Emily absolutely adore each other and their emotion came through in every moment. They were such a joy to be around all day and I constantly caught myself smiling behind my camera (especially when editing their pictures)! I’m so happy that they did a “first look” because we were able to capture so many beautiful portraits around the gardens. They even brought along their sweet pup, Jackson, who wore the cutest pink bow tie! I hope you enjoy their beautiful wedding as much as we loved being a part of it!

Timeless Ballroom Wedding in Atlanta

I’m so excited to bring you this next Biltmore Ballroom wedding, I want to just skip right over the intro. But, a few quick words to sum it up? Opulent. Lavish. Luxurious. Elegant. Timeless. Stunning. I could seriously go on and on, but then it’d take longer to get you to the gallery. Check out the shots from Kaitie Bryant and you’ll know exactly what I mean. Go!

From The Bride…I wanted to be able to look back at our wedding in 20 years and still love everything I chose, so I opted for a traditional ceremony, a neutral color scheme, and no first look! We chose to have a band and a full bar at our reception because although we did want our wedding day to be elegant and timeless, we definitely still wanted our guests to let loose and dance!

From Kaitie BryantAustin and Sarah’s wedding was the most elegant wedding I have ever shot. The Biltmore Ballrooms remind me of something you would expect to see in a French palace like Versailles, and the elegance of both the Cathedral and the Biltmore were a perfect fit for Sarah’s vision of a timeless wedding that could be appreciated 20+ years down the road. They both were radiant and the details of the day were simple and classy and elegant. Austin and Sarah did a great job incorporating their Alma Mater, Georgia Tech, by having the Tech Trolley for transportation and stopping to take some pictures near the main Georgia Tech sign.

Pink + Navy Engagement Session at LaGrange College

I’m in complete agreement with Buffy Dekmar‘s take on engagement sessions: they should tell a story. They should tie something in that is meaningful and true to your and your love. That’s exactly what these two sweetly smiling love birds did. Keep reading for Buffy’s sweet words about the couple and of course, peruse the beyond beautiful captures.

From Buffy Dekmar PhotographyTo me, engagement photos are more than just a pretty collection of pictures. I like for engagement photos to tell a story, to draw on new or old memories, or to speak to the principles and values that a couple upholds together. Natalie and Will wanted their engagement photos to be both meaningful and memorable, so we chose to do two sets, both centered on important places and events:

The first set was taken just before their engagement celebration at LaGrange College, where Natalie’s parents were married years ago. Natalie wore a pink Kate Spade party dress, and showed Will around the college campus in the center of her hometown. Then we headed to the alumni house, where friends and family awaited them ready to celebrate their engagement with good food and good music!

For the second set of photos, we chose a more private and personal spot: Natalie and Will’s house in Dublin, Georgia, which they are in the process of renovating as their forever home. The estate sits just down the road from the home where Will grew up (and where his parents have made their loving home together). The empty house, with its hearths and warm window light, nods to a bright dreams for their future together in that very place.

These sets of this precious couple’s engagement photos are important pieces of their story, both because of time and place and because their relevance to a family history of loving commitment. My hope is that these photos will serve as not only a personal collection of art, but also a reminder of promises, values, and strength of spirit as Natalie and Will begin a new life together in Dublin!

Outdoor Wedding at The Ford Plantation

I’m a gold girl through and through. Yes, silver has its place, but for me a touch of gold wins every time. There’s something about the way it pairs with natural, earthy details that speaks to my style’s heart. So when Hyer Images brought us this next Georgia wedding, with its pretty little tablescape of gold china set around wooden planters by Amy Harvey Designs, my day got a little happier. Click here to see why!

Colors

Deciding where to have our wedding was a no-brainer. We wanted our wedding to be sophisticated, yet relaxed and not too stuffy. The Ford Plantation in Richmond Hill, Georgia (where the bride’s father resides) was the perfect fit for our vision—not to mention one of our favorite places on earth! The ceremony and reception were both held at the Main House, which is set on the Ogeechee River surrounded by cascading live oaks. It’s impossible not to fall in love with its unique blend of Low Country charm, natural beauty and timeless elegance.

We chose a color palate of grey, gold and emerald green, which we thought paid the perfect compliment (and respect) to the natural backdrop. We wanted the reception to mirror the location—old-world elegance blended with vintage and rustic details.

We designed and planned the entire wedding ourselves, and we are so happy and proud of how everything turned out. It was better than we could have ever imagined! From the homemade limoncello, DIY hand-painted chalkboard signs and potted lavender plants to the glass orbs hanging from the bistro lights and wine ceremony box handmade by the groom (a carpenter by trade)—we tried to infuse ourselves and our relationship into as many details as possible to create a truly unique experience for our guests. And—from the compliments we have received from wedding guests—I think we pulled it off! We couldn’t have done it without your website, which was instrumental to the entire process. So, thank you, for providing us with so much inspiration to plan our perfect wedding!
