This Miami Beach Wedding is the Definition of #ModernGoals

From the Bride… Evan and I met during a very busy time in our lives. He was in the process of expanding his business and I was applying to doctoral programs. It would seem that the odds were stacked against us, however, it now serves as a testament to our unique and special bond. After three years of dating, we knew we had found our perfect counterparts.  Evan surprised me with a getaway trip to Clearwater. What I thought was a graduation present, ended up being the gift of a lifetime.

Beyond our theme, it was important for our wedding to be an accurate reflection of who we are as people, and as a couple. Having both family and friends in Florida and New York, we easily narrowed down the region. Knowing that we wanted an outdoor spring ceremony, Miami became the inevitable choice. We selected W South Beach as the ambiance and décor impeccably matched our vision of a chic paradise wedding.

Our theme was modern and metallic. The chrome metallic accents easily allowed for the touches of glam, including the bedazzled shoes gifted to me by my little sister and maid of honor, the sparkles on the dress, and shimmer of the linens.  We were incredibly fortunate to have our monogram by Elevennote, which was incorporated on the stationary, ceremony sign, welcome bags, menu, and acrylic card box. Our silver foil accented place cards were placed over a mirrored table top adorned with glass frames of pictures from the weddings of our bridal party members and our grandparents.

W South Beach was the perfect venue for us as it had a perfect spot for each chapter in our day. Our getting ready suites were spacious, stunning, and provided great ocean views for pictures. The private pool was adorned with a mural that just screams Miami, perfect for the first look. While waiting for the festivities to begin, the guests were able to enjoy the dip their toes in the ocean. We wanted a transition from light to dark from ceremony to reception. The palm trees and lawn provided the perfect palate for elegance and the earthy marble accents of the Great Room allowed for the transition to modern and metallic glam.

We were adamant about being true to ourselves individually and as a couple during our ceremony. We recognize our cultures while being sure to highlight the important tenets of marriage that we cherish. We wanted it to be simple, yet deeply meaningful. We collaborated to create our customized ceremony and wrote our own vows. What can be seen simply as an acrylic wedding arch adorned with fresh, white flowers, crystals, and candles was actually a key requirement for us in our ceremony. This chuppah or mandap, is an important symbol in both cultures. Symbolic of our cross-cultural union. In both cultures it represents, with open walls, the home and life we will build as a married couple. Acknowledging an Indian tradition, we opted to have our parents stand with us to represent the each of the pillars, a sturdy foundation.

We are fortunate to have many loved ones in our lives, but opted for a smaller intimate wedding. Our bridal party consisted only of family members and childhood friends. Evan had traditional groomsmen, but I wanted to honor three important women in my life so I opted to include not one but three titles of Maid of Honor, Matron of Honor, and Best Lady. Our flower girl and ring bearer were born just in time for our special day. Both were born in the year of our engagement and were able to share the aisle with their moms for our ceremony.

This Bride’s Chic + Playful Style Is Everything!

A chic Alexandra Grecco dress featuring a playful back cut out. Fun and colorful Aquazurra sandals. A bold, tropical bouquet created by Lara’s Theme featuring palm fronds and king protea… Yeah, this bride’s style game is strong. So it’s no surprise we’re crushing hard on every single image of this modern, tropical celebration, captured by Amalie Orrange Photography.

From the bride… Mike and I met on LinkedIn. I’m only half kidding. Living only a few blocks from one another and sharing quite a few mutual friends, Mike and I kept bumping into one another, but both of us were a bit nervous to begin talking. Finally around the third casual encounter, at a bar in the East Village, Mike struck up a conversation with me about my career – something my friends know I am incredibly passionate about. He had clearly done some digging. Needless to say that kicked things off, and he really sealed the deal with a LinkedIn request the next day.

Mike and I never discussed marriage. We both always saw it as a very organic process – either it would happen one day or it wouldn’t. Safe to say, I did not see it coming! We were at his family’s house at the beach, we had just finished a perfect, leisurely Sunday lunch, and I suggested we go for a walk at a nearby nature preserve, something Mike normally politely declines. But lo and behold, he was up for it today because we had eaten quite a bit. We came up to a beautiful outlook, and I annoyingly asked to take Mike’s photo, and he repaid the annoyance, asking me the same. When I turned around, there he was, ring box in hand. I was so surprised, it took me what felt like five minutes to fully grasp what was happening. Needless to say, I said yes, and Mike, who looking back was incredibly well dressed for a casual walk, managed to get the whole thing on film. We actually didn’t tell anyone for a few hours and just enjoyed the time together, with a fire and some champagne. of course.

I have always loved botanicals, and when we decided to get married at Windsor, I immediately thought of The Book of Palms by Taschen. I felt it captured the tropical lushness yet refined elegance of the club. It served as inspiration for the save the dates and then everything grew from there. The book made a cameo as our guest book, and it was fun to be surprised with notes on random pages.

Windsor is such a stunning location, and the team is so on top of it, it was beautiful from the moment we arrived. We basically showed up. Lara executed the flowers so flawlessly. We chose to use as much local greenery as possible, and I loved the way it looked like everything could have just come from the property.

The theme for the wedding party was tropical chic, and I basically let the girls choose whatever dress they wanted in a solid color. They all ended up with the most stunning and vibrant colors, that up against the colors and architecture of Windsor, brought so much life and movement to the event.

The highlight from our first look was walking over to the Town Hall, where our ceremony was about to take place. There was an intense sense of anticipation knowing the striking structure was about to be filled with all of our favorite people yet the calmness of it just being us for a moment. We knew that after the ceremony, the rest of the night was going to fly by, and we wanted to make sure we set aside a few moments to breathe and take it all in together.

One of my favorite moments was the New Orleans style second line parade from the Town Hall to the reception. The brass band was a surprise to our wedding party and guests, and the spontaneity of the whole thing really set the tone for evening. Music has always been central to our relationship, so it is no surprise that our favorite moments center around it. Other favorite moments were our mother/son, father/daughter dance, which we did together to the 1920s swing song, ‘In the Mood’. One of my close friends performed ‘Like A Prayer’ by Madonna as a tribute to my amazing aunt who passed away, and she absolutely rocked it.

We Found the Perfect Palette for a Beach Wedding

Calling all beach brides! If you’re looking for the perfect palette to complement a seaside fête, today is your lucky day. This romantic Florida wedding at The Bellamy of 30A brought in soft blues and greys in the bridesmaids’ dresses which picked up the cool tones of the water and a subtle, pinkish hue in the bride’s Leanne Marshall gown which picked up the warm tones of the sand and sun. The result is pure color palette magic, captured by Mint Photography with assistance from Claire Casner Photography.

From Mint PhotographyThere are so many aspects to this wedding that made it one of my very favorites of all time. First off, Seaside in 30A is perhaps one of the most charming beach cities I’ve ever visited. If you haven’t been, it’s a must! It set the perfect backdrop for an intimate, yet unique wedding location. We had incredible weather this weekend, and the pastel color palette was a perfect touch for a beach wedding. The bride wore a stunning Leanne Marshall gown, which flowed beautifully on the beach. Their precious golden retriever, Romeo, even made a special appearance at their nuptials. The party continued on at The Bellamy, where guests enjoyed food, drinks, and dancing under the moonlight. Audree and Dan are also one of the sweetest, most easy going and head-over-heels in love couples we have worked with. It was such a pleasure documenting this gorgeous destination celebration!

An Insider’s Guide To Your Birmingham Wedding

When it comes to tying the knot, Birmingham is one of those hidden gems that makes your wedding weekend just as fun as it is stylish. Trust us, just one stop in “The Magic City” and you’ll be smitten. Which is why we’re teaming up The Westin Birmingham to bring you a little insider’s guide on how to make the most of your Birmingham celebration. From fun activities to amazing restaurants, we’ve got you covered.

BEST SPOT FOR PHOTO OPS

Our Pick: The Westin Birmingham.

Why we love it: We all know that choosing a venue with stellar photo ops is sooo important, and The Westin Birmingham will definitely not disappoint. We can’t get over the vertical wall and stairs combo that jumps out at you the second you walk into the lobby (hello, drama) AND the views of Uptown from the rooftop pool. Taking those newlywed images to an entirely new (breathtaking) level has never been easier.

Our Pick: Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Why we love it: Three words: sooo many flowers. Plus, gorgeous greenery and awe-inspiring structures, too. Which means that you can snap those moments with your love surrounded by everything from beautiful roses to tulips to camellias, the perfect backdrop for those fall wedding captures. Bonus? It’s just a 10 minute drive from The Westin Birmingham, so you don’t have to miss your entire cocktail hour.

FAVE RESTAURANTS

Our Pick: Todd English P.U.B.

Why we love it: No wedding is complete without a fabulous lineup of restaurants on the itinerary, and if one of those restaurants happens to be in the lobby of The Westin Birmingham? Even better. Todd English P.U.B. boasts a full Raw Bar, plus a lineup of traditional American “comfort foods” that will leave your tummies happy. And the Bloody Mary Cart? A must for your morning-after brunch AND a quick jaunt down from your luxe accommodations.

Our Pick: Perry’s Steakhouse

Why we love it: Just a short 20 minute Uber from The Westin Birmingham’s Uptown location, Perry’s Steakhouse is one of our fave spots in Birmingham. Why? It’s tasty award-winning menu will get you every. single. time. and the cocktails are super tasty. We suggest trying this locale out for a yummy rehearsal dinner or bachelor/bachelorette party.

Our Pick: Galley and Garden

Why we love it: And speaking of rehearsal dinners, the Galley and Garden is a beautiful spot for that night-before celebration with your nearest and dearest. We’re sort of obsessed with the historic Merritt House locale and the beautiful private dining options will really make your evening stand out. Oh, and the food? Spectacular.

FUN ACTIVITIES

Our Pick: Top Golf Birmingham

Why we love it: Guys, Top Golf is the best. Whether you’ve never picked up a club in your life, or happen to be the next Jordan Spieth, trust us on this one: you and your guests will love it. Plus, with good food, good drinks and fun to be had by all, it’s the perfect spot for any of those pre-wedding parties you have on the lineup… or a getaway with your love post-nuptials.

Our Pick: Sips n Strokes

Why we love it: If you’re looking for a more laid-back activity, Sips n Strokes is IT. Think wine, painting (your very own works of art) and tons of laughs with your besties. We’re loving this Birmingham hot spot as an amazing girls’ getaway with your bridal party – or a fun activity with all of your nearest and dearest who are in town to celebrate you and your love.

Our Pick: Locked in Birmingham

Why we love it: Having a list of activities for your guests is one of the most important parts of planning your Big Day and they’ll absolutely LOVE you when you add this brain charger to their itinerary. Because nothing says “bonding experience” quite like a game that requires you to use clues to escape from a room with your friends and family. So fun, you guys.

Ready to plan the week or weekend of a lifetime? Contact The Westin Birmingham as your starting point. They’ll take care of all of your wedding dreams (luxe accommodations, beautiful venues) and the city of Birmingham will handle the rest of the fun.

The Fun Never Stopped at This Key West Destination Wedding!

Glen and Kailey knew exactly what they wanted for their wedding – a southern-style celebration with lots of time to enjoy family and friends. Simply You Weddings helped them plan a full week of activities for their Key West destination wedding, from a welcome reception to a beach volleyball tournament to a sunset cruise. But the event to remember was, of course, the wedding ceremony and reception, captured by Finch Photography. From the special musical performance by friends to the late night dancing courtesy of Bay Kings Band, we know this celebration is one their guests will never forget.

From the Bride… Glen and I have been to over 30 weddings together in our five years of dating, so we had a pretty good idea of what we liked and didn’t like already. Some of the weddings we enjoyed the most were the ones where we were able to spend more than just a day with the wedding party and really got to know their family and friends.

We wanted to choose a city that would entice guests to stay more than a day and was a place that offered activities that would appeal to a variety of people. Our hope was that our wedding would allow for everyone to get to know each other, make new friends, and ultimately become one cohesive group as we became one in marriage. We wanted a place that provided ample opportunities to be able to get quality time with everyone. After one visit to Key West, we knew this was just the place to make this happen, with its history, beautiful sunsets, ocean activities, and fun vibes on Duval Street.

Once we chose Key West, we started planning all the events for the week. The women in Glen’s family always host a welcome party at the family weddings, and they wanted the same for us. We wanted this to be a casual meet and greet for our families and friends. Our hotel accommodations had a great back yard courtyard and patio, so it was the perfect place for people to “come as they were,” enjoy a few drinks and appetizers, and make some new friends.

Glen loves volleyball, and his mom was a collegiate volleyball player, so he wanted to have a beach day that included a volleyball tournament with customized tank tops, koozies, and tumblers. Higgs Beach was the perfect spot because it had volleyball courts, beach rentals, and a cute restaurant that let us reserve the patio. We decided to have this event on Saturday after the wedding so it was a day we could really relax and everyone could let loose. For Saturday night, we decided a sunset cruise would be a great last hurrah to wind down the wedding activities. The Fury Commotion on the Ocean cruise was a perfect fit for our group with its live music, drinks, food, and beautiful views.

Our hotel accommodations were one of our favorite choices. The Light House Court was the place we stumbled upon and stayed at on our first visit to Key West. It’s in the perfect location, across from the Hemmingway House, a block from Duval Street, and down the road from the beaches (and it ended up being close to our ceremony and reception sites). This is a renovated estate, which makes each room unique. It’s a quaint place with a small pool, great mojito bar (Kailey’s favorite), a courtyard with cornhole, and a daily breakfast served outside accompanied by the local hens and roosters. We envisioned our friends and family having breakfast together and sitting by the pool.

When thinking about the theme, we really didn’t want your typical destination wedding with flashy details. We wanted both the destination and the traditions we were raised with  – a southern wedding, just in a beach city. We chose neutral colors, with taupe bridesmaids’ dresses and black tuxes, white florals with greenery, and accents of gold. The head table was made of four farm tables pushed together with a eucalyptus garland runner and mercury glass votives scattered down the center. The guest and cocktail tables were simple with white linens and hand made arrangements by the groom’s mother and friends featuring greenery halos, mercury glass votives, and ivy tie backs.

My dress was a custom design by Anna Maier. I had found two dresses that I loved, and they were both by Maier, so I was able to combine what I liked about the two and then add some other details. From the color to the lace and the actual fit, I was able to pick everything out. I liked the look of an off the shoulder dress but also wanted an open back; many stores told me I couldn’t have both. However, the girls at White Dresses Boutique helped me see how I could make my vision come to life. Once we got the dress in, White Dresses connected me with Altered Heart Alterations who helped me design the back and create the soft shoulder look that I loved.

Family and tradition are important to us and were incorporated throughout the wedding. Glen’s wedding band had belonged to my great grandfather and was accompanied by the original box. My mom surprised me with a second wedding band, solid gold and created from a variety of family jewelry. I was also presented with a necklace, repurposed from a ring that my father had given my mother.

Glen’s grandfather had fought in WWII and always said that Psalm 23 helped him make it through. Since then, the Bible verse has remained special to Glen’s family. We had a hand painted welcome sign made with a portion of Psalm 23 on it to honor him.

It was important for both of us to be married in a Methodist church, and we were lucky to find a beautiful Methodist church that allowed us to be there. The reception location was not at the beach, but at the Historic Truman Little White House (Glen’s family has ties to President Truman, so that made it even more special). The lawns are beautiful with green grass and overhanging trees, and the neighborhood provided the privacy we wanted (we didn’t want random people watching our wedding from a restaurant or patio or walking through in their swimsuits).

Our first dance was sung and played by two of our best friends, Ken and Cheyenne. They not only sang the first dance song, but they also sang and played the mother/son and father/daughter songs. The father/daughter song was an original that was written by Cheyenne.

We knew it would be pretty steamy for the reception, but we wanted guests to be as comfortable as possible, so we served a mojito during cocktail hour to help cool everyone down as well as provided hand cut wooden fans that guests could use throughout the night. Our friends love to dance, so we had to have a good band. We decided against the typical beach band and instead went with a 6-piece Motown band. In college, we loved Motown bands best, and Bay Kings did not disappoint. It was the perfect mix of Motown favorites along with today’s catchy hits. We may have all been a little sweaty, but that didn’t stop anyone from being on the dance floor all night.

Super Chic Alys Beach Wedding Film

Super chic at the beach? That’s my kinda combo. With the gorgeous Alys Beach as a backdrop, these two said “I do” and celebrated in style (we’re even talking a New Orleans second line!) and Sixpence Productions filmed it all. Add in Myrtie Blue’s florals and these emerald bridesmaid dresses and this is a beach wedding for the books. See pics from James & Schulze in our gallery and enjoy the whole film below!

From Sixpence Productions… NOLA native? Second line? Destination wedding? What’s a girl to do but bring in the fabulous Angle Events for an Alys Beach Wedding?!?! Christina and Brent said “I do” on the Gulf Green at Alys Beach on April 22nd, surrounded by family and friends. I always say we have the sweetest couples, and these two were no exception. Christina is a stunning girl, but she’s so completely unassuming and laid back, you get the impression she has no idea how lovely she is. One of my all time favorite wedding moments happened when Christina was coming down the aisle. She blushes and shyly hides her head behind her bouquet. It’s absolutely precious, and a wonderful expression of her personality. And please, let’s talk about that bouquet… Alys Beach is always beautiful but Myrtie Blue’s floral design took Christina and Brent’s wedding to a whole new level of breathtaking. From the fabulous circular arch complementing the Gulf Green architecture, to the jaw dropping gorgeousness of Christina’s bouquet, the Myrtie Blue team delivered.

A Miami Wedding With a Glamorous, Art Deco Twist

Staying true to the kitschy, art deco vibes of Miami, this couple threw a winter wedding that fits right in with all that Florida glamour. Awash in stunning alfresco tables under a sea of twinkle lights planned by Masi Events with jewel toned florals by Ines Naftali, and imagery by Gianny Campos, this celebration sparkles from beginning to confetti ending.

From the bride…Our whole approach to planning the wedding was creating a party that we would love going to. We toyed with the idea of several different locations including New York and Italy before settling on Miami, the city where we met, fell in love, and had some of the best nights of our lives. January seemed the ideal time for my family from New York to get in some sunshine, and to feel like the whole wedding weekend was one amazing vacation. I’ve always been inspired by the kitschy and art deco vibes in Miami, and wanted the design elements to reflect that while still feeling modern. We also chose darker, sexier colors and luxurious fabrics, almost as if we had transplanted an NYC winter wedding to Miami. Not to mention the were other fun elements, like a white vintage GT0 ride to the reception, and a black and white checkerboard dance floor. While it was super important to us that the wedding felt felt fun and fresh, we also wanted to pay respect to our heritages and traditions. For the cocktail hour we had a live Cuban band and a cigar roller while mojitos were passed around. For the reception we had a traditional Albanian band and incorporated special traditions, like having Alexis’s godfather unveil me, and Alexis and I leading the valle (traditional Albanian dance).

Love + Laughter Filled Florida Wedding

I fell head over heels in love with this first image right here. The The blushing Bride surrounded by the love of her beautiful bridesmaids. The smiles are real and authentic… and contagious because I can’t get a grin off my face either. Jessica Bellinger captured this sweet moment – and many, many more from this Floridian fete – and with Fox Grove Films‘ clip as well, we have a full view of what a wonderful wedding day it truly was. Soak it all up and enjoy!

From Jessica Bellinger… One of my favorite weddings to date! Alexis and Evan had amazing style and vendor choices. This day was so important to them, and you could tell through all the effort into details they put in. I loved their venue, probably my favorite in the Central FL area. Full of beautiful gardens, a courtyard, and vintage rooms full of antique items. They also have this gorgeous historic boat that created beautiful photos for us. It was a lovely day.

From the Bride… We wanted a vintage garden feel for our wedding but still have the party vibe that my husband and I love about Miami. Luckily the Raleigh hotel was perfect oasis in the heart of South Beach! The giant tree canopies along with the vintage compote vases filled with an array of spring flowers made the vintage garden feeling come to life! We also wanted to have candle light be the main lighting to make ceremony and reception feel very intimate. The most important thing to us though was everyone letting loose, having fun and dancing until the after party shut down!

From Jacqui Cole Photography… Kimmy + Matt wed at The Ritz Naples on March 25th. The Welcome Party was hosted on the beach with oyster shuckers from Maine, cuban cigar rollers and whole lobsters served to the guests. The wedding weekend started with a bang with the guests being greeting with a fireworks show on the beach! The wedding day itself was a blend of true luxe elegance with crystal chandeliers, mirrored tabletops and custom bar set ups. At the same time, the couple were able to maintain a little Florida whimsy and romance by wandering to the beach for sunset portraits. Would you believe me when I tell you a dolphin swam right past the new Mr & Mrs just as they watched the sun dip below the horizon – how romantic?! Tracie Domino Events truly created a complete experience at the reception by including many unique touches, first and foremost having the Grand Bevy serve gold leaf topped edible cocktails as guests danced the night away! I’m thrilled for this sweet couple and their beautiful families – they really had the most perfect weekend celebrating their marriage. Congratulations from us all Mr and Mrs Tucker!!

A Romantic Alys Beach Wedding With One of the Prettiest Color Palettes Ever

No doubt about it, I need to get my booty to Alys Beach. Time and time again, I see gorgeous galleries of weddings there and my heart pitter patters faster and faster. And the latest, this gem from Brandon Chesbro and Pure 7 Studios, is no exception. Shelby Peaden Events and Myrtie Blue came together to create an organic, romantic celebration with one of the prettiest color palettes ever. See more right this way!

From the Bride… Jordan and I met while we were both in college and next door neighbors. We dated for nearly five years before he proposed while we were on vacation in Mexico. Although we live in Tennessee, we immediately knew we wanted to do a destination wedding in Alys Beach, Florida. The beautiful architecture of the pristine white houses made for the dreamiest backdrop for our wedding. We’ve been vacationing in or near Alys Beach for several years, and I always thought it would be the most amazing place to get married – and it was!

We knew we wanted to keep our wedding relatively small in order to have a more intimate feel to our ceremony and reception. Our vision was to have a natural, organic, and romantic feel to our wedding. For me, the florals were the most important part of the decor. I was so lucky to find Fort Walton Beach’s best floral and event designers, Myrtie Blue. Co-owner Brian Watson took my request of “loose romantic florals” and created something more beautiful than I could have ever dreamed. My bouquet was out of this world, and weighed more than you can imagine.

In addition to picking out florals and decor, one of my other favorite parts of planning was working with my talented calligrapher, Katie Hyatt of Signora e Mare. She makes the most beautiful handmade paper, and I knew I had to have her create our invitation suite. Katie created an organic “B” design that we incorporated not only on the invitations, but also the seating chart, cocktail napkins, and in a couple decor items. For example, we had a moss covered “B” that hung behind the main bar, and a few pillows that were arranged on lounge furniture at the reception also displayed our unique “B” design. This personal touch really made our day feel so special, and we now have the pillows and moss “B” displayed in our house now.

There are so many great memories from our wedding day, but if I had to pick my favorite, I think it would be our first look. We had been hanging out with our bridesmaids, groomsmen, and family separately all morning, and there were a lot of nerves to be calmed getting ready. Once I saw Jordan, everything else went away and I could focus about the day being about us.

I will never forget the love and support we felt from our friends and family on that day. When I started to walk down the aisle with my father, I could not hold back the tears once I saw all of our loved ones who traveled near and far to celebrate our love. Although I thought I wouldn’t cry walking down the aisle, that feeling of love was so overwhelming, that of course I cried the whole way. To top it off, my stepfather officiated our ceremony, which was an experience I will never forget.

We know that our wedding day would not have happened without our talented wedding planner, Shelby Peaden. I’m also so grateful to our photographer, Brandon Chesbro, and our cinematographer, Alan LeBlanc of Pure 7 Studios for perfectly capturing our wedding. Without a doubt, November 5, 2016 was the best day!

For a Sweet First-Look Alternative, Check Out This Wedding

You’ve decided you want to wait until the walk down the aisle to see each other, yet you wouldn’t mind a special, pre-ceremony moment for just the two of you. May we suggest a “first touch”? This Bride and Groom were guided to each other, with eyes closed, by the Bride’s father so that they could share an intimate prayer before their nuptials and reception at Oxford Exchange. Luckily for us, PSJ Photography captured the sweet moment, and it’s waiting for you in the Vault!

From PSJ PhotographyMy favorite thing about this wedding was how relaxed the Bride and Groom were throughout the day. I adored the way that Adam looked lovingly at Kari, and together they savored every moment. Living in Italy (the Groom is a professional Italian basketball player), they spend many of their dinners around a table for hours just soaking in good times and good people. Their wedding was much like this, including a two hour dinner that was unfussy and full of laughs and great food. The Groom’s ring was also made of the melted down metals of his grandparents’ rings and had his wife’s fingerprint imprinted on it! Another special moment was the “first touch” where the Bride’s father guided the Groom across the room, and they shared a prayer over the lives they were about to promise to each other.

From the Bride… We love greenery and natural beauty and wanted simplicity, yet classy, elegant, and timeless. We always envisioned our wedding to have a garden feel. However, the heat and rain of summer made this idea somewhat impossible… Until we found Oxford Exchange. The indoor garden feel, natural beauty, and elegance of Oxford captured our hearts from the first moment we walked in.

Our unique elements included olive branches to bring in a touch of Italy, a sign in globe to represent our love of travel and how all of our guests mean “the world to us,” and a remembrance table to remember those who couldn’t be with us but who are forever in our hearts.

It is really tough to choose a favorite moment! The Groom’s father was also a basketball coach, and the image of the two of them leaving the church and sharing a basketball handshake gives me so many chills! One of the most special moments for us was just prior to Adam’s thank you and blessing. We took a moment, looked around the entire room, and saw that every single person we love was all in one place, and they were there to celebrate our love and our marriage. How amazing a feeling that was! It warms our hearts thinking about this moment, and it will be a memory we will cherish forever.

My gown was was by Maggie Sotterro and the name was Lisette. I never envisioned having a princess style gown until putting it on. It was classy, elegant, sexy, and I loved it! Our cake was made by Kim Yelvington at Chocolate Pi. It was a champagne scented strawberry cake with mimosa cream. DELICIOUS! We created welcome bags when our guests checked into the hotel including water, snacks, Advil, and a thank you cards for our guests.

Our advice to couples is to do a last dance with just the Bride and Groom. That was another one of our favorite moments because it gave us one more chance to soak it all in! It was so special and so memorable.

Dreamy Tropical Destination Wedding in Key West

Dan and Vivian call New York City home base but opted for a destination locale on the big day. They escaped to Key West, Florida with all their favorite people and Destination Wedding Studio made sure the celebration went off without a hitch. Peek at the images by Renee Lemaire and see why we adore this blue and gold fête from beginning to end.

Dan & Vivian planned a gorgeous destination wedding Key West, Florida. While living in New York City, they had the help of Vivian’s father, a Key West local, and Peggy from Destination Wedding Studio to make sure every detail was perfectly executed.

Their candlelit ceremony was in the chapel of Fort Zachary Taylor, surrounded by their closest friends, family, and the beautiful historic architecture. Afterwards, they had a beautiful tented reception in the courtyard of the Fort, complete with lush, pastel florals, gold accents, and soft blue linens lining every table.

Dan and Vivian had many creative personal touches tied into their wedding day. As a talented designer, Vivian created their adorable stationery & paper products for the day. Since their first date was over hamburgers, they served gourmet burger sliders to their guests. One of my favorite hidden details was Dan’s socks, which were dotted with tiny hamburgers! The couple also served some of their favorite Key West treats; cookies from a local bakery and Key Lime pie on a stick (which is definitely worth making a trip to Key West in itself!).

To tie in both of their family traditions, guests took part in the traditional Jewish hora and a Hora Loca for Vivian’s Cuban roots. It was so much fun to see these two families come together!

These two are absolutely breathtaking in their Hindu wedding attire, custom made by Zimaya for their nuptials at the Ocean Reef Club in the Florida Keys. From Bride… Ben and I met in college over a very serious game of beer pong! We reconnected a year out of school while I was in San Francisco and he was in Boston, but I was lucky to be visiting the east coast often enough to see him and start dating. Thanks to Ben taking a chance on us, he quickly moved out to SF and the rest is history. Fast forward five years and for New Year’s Eve 2015, we traveled to Montego Bay, Jamaica where he surprised me with an overnight stay in Negril. We went for a walk along the beach, sat on a couple beach chairs with some Red Stripes and before long, Ben was guiding me to the nearby torches where he had secretly set up a GoPro. As a backstory, we collect sand from all the places we visit, so he used this story to get me to gather sand into a glass he had brought along, except the glass had a box inside. Next thing I know he was proposing! I, of course said yes, and was so overwhelmed with emotion I could not stop laughing the whole way back to the hotel.

Our wedding weekend was truly a dream come true. I’m a producer, so it was really hard for me not to produce our own wedding and it was my absolute favorite project by far! Despite my endless Pinterest boards, we really wanted to make sure every single detail felt like us, but also felt natural in the incredible location that is the Walton House. I think this story coming to life is what I loved most about it all. We wanted to guide our guests through a magical and tropical experience with surprises at every corner; from the waterfall sounds in the entry garden, to the ceremony nook surrounded by palm trees, onto the cocktail hour with the aviary and monkeys, to the dinner under the trees by the stable, topped off with the activities in the barn and dancing under the tent – it was truly a dream world come true!

Most importantly, we gathered all our favorite things, from our favorite Latin foods (I’m from Argentina and Ben is from Boston,) to the sand for the ceremony (it came from the Jamaica proposal and the Miami beach near the venue) and even the music chosen for the ceremony. I think a major highlight was having a Tribe Called Quest song as the processional (our favorite artist) and that I then walked down the aisle to the Beatles track my dad and I used to sing when I was little. It was also important to demonstrate the spirit of the Walton House, and it being an animal sanctuary, and you see that in little elements like the custom table card illustrations, centerpieces and even the photo booth filter! We basically put all our favorite and meaningful things, even if some were silly, all in one place :)

My biggest piece of advice for engaged brides is to go with your heart and make the wedding personal to you and your partner. At the end of the day, of course we all want beautiful photography and table settings, but the most memorable moments are the ones that resonate with what you two love and what makes you happy. After all, your family and friends are all there to partake and witness your love on this momentous day, so why not share a piece of your world with them! This is the perfect time to share all your favorite and meaningful things in one incredible place, enjoy them with all your favorite people, and have the best day ever.
