From Justin DeMutiis PhotographyKatie and Erick met while they were out one night with their friends in Tampa. Katie was wearing a blinking Jagermeister necklace she’d received at an Oktoberfest party earlier in the evening, and Erick decided it was his job to approach her to tell her how ridiculous it looked. Katie, not used to anyone telling her she’d made a fashion accessory faux pas, was taken aback by his bold honesty. They went on their first date five days later and have been together ever since!

The couple got engaged on Valentine’s weekend 2011. Erick whisked Katie away to a surprise romantic dinner at one of his favorite beachside restaurants in Clearwater. They had such a wonderful meal that Katie didn’t think the night could have been any more perfect …until Erick surprised her with the most beautiful ring she’d ever seen.

From the Bride… Ryan and I met 10 years ago at a summer job. He asked me out, and we went on a few dates, then BAM, seven years later Ryan and I were officially a couple. Ryan is smooth like that. He is very caring, even for people he doesn’t know. He spent 6 years of his life in the military fighting for our country, and now he is a firefighter. He has a huge heart. I also love his tattoos and his gorgeous blue eyes (I am very jealous of them).

The proposal story: we go to my parent’s vacation home in North Carolina every year the week before Christmas, and every year there is always some sort of disaster — I’m not sure why we continue to go at that time of year. This year it took us three extra hours to drive the icy roads — it was a warm seven degrees with two feet of snow, and all the water pipes were frozen when we got there. After two hours of digging up snow to find the water main, crawling under the house at 11 p.m. to make sure there wasn’t a leak, me tripping and falling face first in the snow while sliding down the hill and hysterically crying, we decided to give up, bathe ourselves with wet ones and drink several bottles of wine to drown our sorrows. We had one bottle down and Ryan got up and started putting on deodorant and brushing his teeth (with a water bottle) and sweating profusely. Obviously I found this strange because it was so cold, so I asked what he was doing in my normal sarcastic form. That’s when he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, then I started sweating and threw up because I was so excited — it was a magical night!

I have had most of my wedding planned since I was 4, when I put my first veil on and made my neighbor marry me in the very elegant setting of my parent’s garage. After I got my dress, everything fell into place. My favorite colors are gold, silver, and copper so that part was easy. I love all things shiny and sparkly. I always wanted to get married under huge trees in the fall. I wanted everything to be really romantic with candle light. My top priority however was, that everyone had fun — and since the bar ran out of alcohol three times in five hours, I am going to say everyone had a good time. We were originally going to have the wedding at my uncle’s restaurant, but the guest list kept getting bigger and bigger, and I was getting really worried about space. I was getting a facial and the lady was telling me about the Tampa Firefighter Museum. My husband is a firefighter, and if you have ever had a conversation with a firefighter, you know they REALLY love their job! So I called six months before my wedding and happened to be the only date they had open in the fall — it was fate.

Instead of a guest book, my cousin made me little books to put on each table with questions like “ What should we name our kids?” “Where should we go on our 5th anniversary?” and “Favorite recipe?” Guest got to write personal messages to us. It was a lot of fun for us to read after the wedding — especially the messages you get after giving people a few cocktails. The most memorable moment for me was my sister’s maid of honor speech. It was without a doubt the funniest speech I have ever heard at a wedding. She mentally tortured me for 10 months about how she was going to humiliate me — she did, but it was funny and she rocked it.

From Jordan Weiland PhotographyThis adorable rustic engagement session was set on the property of the bride’s family. You’ll love the bride’s dress and adorable details such as her fiance serenading her with a banjo, rowing around in a canoe and her beautiful ring perched up on the clothes line. The bride wanted the theme of the shoot to be “a simpler time,” and I think the look was achieved — it wasn’t too far of a stretch for this adorable couple. Photographing with the golden light streaming through the orange grove, they laughed, danced and played music throughout the night. This couple is super-sweet and very much in love. I hope you fall in love with their session as much as I did photographing it.

From Dustin of Sunglow PhotographyI was recently honored to photograph the first wedding on Santa Fe River Ranch — the wedding of the farmer’s daughter. Located just north of Gainesville, Florida, the ranch is an absolutely beautiful location. This event was stacked with some of the top vendors in North Florida. Prange’s Florist created the most amazing arch, as well as all the reception details. The ladies got ready in a lodge on the property and were transported to the ceremony in a vintage horse and carriage. After a ceremony under ancient oak trees, we moved to the newly-built barn for the reception. It was truly an amazing event with great people.

Miami Wedding at The Bath Club by Captured Photography by Jenny

One look at this breathtaking Miami affair and I know you’ll have a hard time believing that it was all planned in just over three short months, but, trust me – it’s totally true.  From the stunning oceanside ceremony to the glorious ballroom reception, every last ounce of knock-your-socks off lovely was dreamt up by this gorgeous duo in a little over 90 days and, YES, they are most certainly my new heroes.  Thankfully, Captured Photography by Jenny snapped up all of the pretty, including those lush blooms by Parrish Designs and the smiley (+ happy) faces of the bride and groom.  See it all here.

From the Bride… Our wedding day was a dream come true! We have been together 11 years and finally decided to get married. He proposed on December 8th, 2011 (with my great grandmother’s ring), and we got married March 31st, 2012. His proposal was so sweet and personal. He created a heart out of little cereal boxes and put the ring in the middle —  the first time we hung out 11 years ago, we sat on a playground eating little boxes of cereal and wishing on the stars. I always thought it was bad luck to plan before your engaged, so I truly did everything in a very short amount of time. The Bath Club was our perfect location. It had everything we wanted, the beach for the ceremony, a ballroom that didn’t have horrible carpet, lots of 1920’s charm, a beautiful courtyard out front, and the whole venue was ours without the worry of any other event getting in the way. My dress was nothing like I thought I would wear, yet the moment I put it on, I knew it was my dress. It was big, elegant, and fun all at the same time. I felt like a ballerina — I even wore Jimmy Choo ballerina flats. My husband wore a gray suit, gray Prada sneakers and Mickey Mouse cufflinks.

I hired a “day of” wedding planner so I could enjoy the day, and it was the best money ever spent. We used Kharma Goddess, and these ladies were so fantastic that I would recommend them to everyone. Our ceremony was so special. We hired an officiant who would provide us with a non-religious ceremony but still very personal and real. We used a place called I Do 4ever. Everyone is still telling us how great the ceremony was and how much they enjoyed listening to the entire thing. We decided to go with a string trio for our ceremony and cocktail hour music and a DJ for the reception. Our florist, Parrish Designs, made the most exquisite floral arrangements ever.  Between the centerpieces and the Huppa she really took my breath away. The Huppa was intended to go on the beach for the ceremony but the weather had a different plan. It was pouring rain and we had to make a decision so we set it up for “Plan B.”  The rain ended up stopping just in time for the ceremony, but we couldn’t move the flowers — it actually worked out because we were able to enjoy them all night. They made a great backdrop for the dance floor and our cake. Our cake was done by a woman named Maryann Roman. Her cakes are not only beautiful but actually taste good. For extra entertainment, we hired a caricature artist.

Now let me tell you about my husband’s favorite thing: the food. When we started this process he was adamant about two things: the officiant and having good food. Well, he got what he wanted. We used Aaron’s Catering, and I know I sound biased, but it really was the best wedding food ever! Every detail was so thought out so the quality, presentation, and service were more than outstanding. The two most important parts of the wedding for me were the photographer and cinematographer. I take pictures and work with film crews for a living so as you can see, this was extra special.  Our cinematographer, BNR Films, is a company I met through work. They are two guys who know how to make magic. We chose Jenny from Captured Photography for our photographer because her style of work is exactly what we wanted and her personality makes you so comfortable.  Every moment is captured without being fake or posed.  I am able to look back and see this special day and remember what I was feeling, and thinking in those exact moments. Thanks to them, we are able to remember it all and feel it again! again!

Jupiter Beach Resort Wedding by Catherine Marciniak Photography

I’m just going to jump right in and say it – this couple is adorable.  So adorable, in fact, that one of their very first wedding planning tasks was – you guessed it – sitting down and putting together an inspiration board.  If those aren’t the actions of an all caps ADORABLE bride and groom-to-be, than I don’t know what is.  And their wedding?  Well, it’s just as amazing as they are, with a breathtaking oceanside setting, one heartwarming moment after another and a gallery filled with glorious images by Catherine Marciniak Photography.  Join me there for so much more.

From the Bride… Adam and I met in the Spring of 2008. We hit it off quickly, bonding over our mutual love of cooking and travel. The more time we spent together, the more we realized that we were meant to be. On January 13th, 2011, Adam popped the question, and I gleefully accepted. After combing the east coast of Florida for the perfect wedding location, we chose Jupiter Beach Resort as our venue for the ceremony and reception. We knew that we wanted our wedding to have a laid-back yet elegant feel, and we have both always loved the beach, so Jupiter Beach Resort was just right.

Since becoming engaged, I’ve become a bit of a wedding blog addict, scouring the details of other weddings to see what I might like to employ for our own. After picking the location, Adam and I both agreed that we didn’t want a typical beach wedding replete with seashells and starfish, but we weren’t sure in exactly what direction we were heading. We began to build a virtual inspiration board, and the overall theme had a rustic chic vibe. After a few well-intentioned but ill-fated attempts to select the décor ourselves, we decided we needed a professional. Enter Jan Chlebek, our amazing wedding planner and floral designer for the wedding. Jan has an incredible eye for style, and she quickly began to bring our vision to fruition. Along with her incredibly talented daughter, Jan designed the décor and floral arrangements from the ground up. They created custom centerpieces to our taste and went as far as hand-painting the runner for the aisle. We had another close friend sew the burlap table runners by hand. We were delighted with the turnout. We married on the lovely sand dune adjacent to the resort with a cocktail hour and plated dinner reception following after. One of the gifts we received was a photo booth to be used during our reception. We had our guests include one copy of the photo strip in our guest book and keep the other as our favor. Our amazing DJ kept everyone on their feet and our friends and family danced the night away. The whole day was captured beautifully by our photographer, Catherine Marciniak. Our wedding day was filled with love, and thanks to Catherine, we will cherish those emotions for a lifetime.

From the Bride… We met in 2010 while Brady was still in the Navy. He proposed in March 2011 during fireworks on the Disney boardwalk. I was even more surprised when I turned around to see my two best friends! He planned everything to a T, and I’m so glad they were there to witness such a special moment. We knew we wanted a small, intimate wedding, so we opted for a beach house with a backyard in South Ponte Vedra. It couldn’t have been a more perfect location!

We recruited friends and family to help make our dream wedding come true. My maid of honor designed our stationery and my mom helped me create all the other details, like our Jennifer and Brady sign. My dad and brother built the amazing platform that we used for the ceremony and backdrop for photos. Our guests loved that they were able to snap pictures while we were posing for the photographer. Food was important to us, as Brady is a chef. We chose The Perfect Pear and not only was the food wonderful, but the staff was organized and extremely helpful. My flowers were easy — I told our florist what I wanted and she delivered! I loved how our “tablescapes” turned out. One of the best things about getting married at the beach — storms blow over quickly! We were so lucky that it rained about two hours before the ceremony and the sun came out as our guests were arriving. It made for AMAZING photos. Thanks Stephie!

I loved watching my maid of honor and best friend crying tears of joy all the way down the aisle — she’s usually the one who keeps it together! AND of course my sweet husband serenading me on guitar while his best man performed “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls. I was SHOCKED, and it took courage to perform in front of all our guests! Brady says playing the guitar was his favorite moment — he loved that he was able to keep that a surprise! Brady also surprised me with the Swarovski earrings! My mom had bought me the exact pair when I was in my teens said they would be the perfect earrings for my wedding day, but I wore them so much I lost the pearls and crystals. When I was looking for my wedding jewelry, I couldn’t find the earrings anywhere, and I was so bummed to hear that they had been discontinued. Brady called Swarovski corporate office, spoke to the director of inventory and told him the story. A few weeks later the earrings arrived in the mail, and Brady surprised me on our wedding day.

As far as advice, I would say to enjoy every minute because it goes by so quickly! Brady says to be patient — with yourself, your partner and your family — and don’t let wedding planning get the best of you!

Miami Wedding at The Palms by Erika Delgado Photography

Even though the inspiration for this gorgeous Miami wedding by Erika Delgado Photography was shabby chic doesn’t mean that it wasn’t 100% elegant.  There is so much romance, love and charm beaming from this obviously totally in love couple and so much sweetness in each and every polished detail they included in their picture perfect day.  See it all in the full gallery!

From Erika Delgado PhotographyCarla and Canor’s shabby chic Miami wedding was one I will never forget, mainly because of their captivating love for each other and the joy that filled the room from their presence together. Besides their beautiful love story, they had a magical wedding day. It was filled to the brim with perfectly polished details that Carla dreamed up — a color palette of pink, peach, vanilla and a touch of natural earth-tones from their tropical venue in Miami, Florida, added that extra natural beauty to their day. Carla wowed everyone with her feminine elegance and charm as she walked down the aisle wearing the San Patrick Calais wedding gown. The feather pleated dress swayed back and forth on her like the ocean breeze. She wore her great grandmother’s blue diamond ring and held her close to her heart throughout the night. The couple exchanged their vows under a sweet traditional gazebo and promised their love to each other forever, never losing sight of each other. Their hundreds of guests enjoyed a musical soiree of violins and fresh cocktails, followed by an outdoor poolside reception like I’ve never seen. Everyone felt and experienced their love that night, how perfect it was.

From J Morgan FlowersJade and Matt had been high school sweethearts, and after a few years apart, true love got the better of them and off to the altar they went! Jade is truly one of the most stunning, sweet and kind brides I have had the privilege of working with — let me add with exquisite taste!! Her vision was vintage glamour with hints of soft peach, blush and champagne for a timeless appeal. The Chuppah was custom-made for Jade and Matt and was made of lace over a stunning champagne satin from New York. The scallops of the lace were topped perfectly with the lushness across the top of ivory hydrangeas, and a mix of roses and spray roses in the peach family for a very textural look and feel. The bridal party had a walk to the Chuppah that we dressed perfectly with vintage silver stands topped with a lush arrangement of florals and a mix of petals.

The reception was in the pier top of the hotel, which actually rotates throughout the evening giving the perfect views of Fort Lauderdale. Taking the breathtaking views into account, we selected centerpieces that didn’t compete with the views of the city. Tall trumpet vases with swags of pearls and crystals were topped with a large puffy domes a mix of the chosen flowers for a cohesive feel, then with a trio of floating candles and flowers in mint julep cups at the base. The bride’s bouquet was crowned with white feathers for added detail, as well as a vintage brooch from my private collection. The groom had a touch of feathers to complement his new wife! The J Morgan Flowers team wish the new Mr. and Mrs. Scott a lifetime of happiness, love and laughter!

From the Bride-to-Be… The first time Jed spoke to me was two years during a college class we shared. He was sitting in front of me, turned around and asked me out to lunch. After dreaming about talking to him all year, I can only imagine what my face looked like! Ultimately, I said no, but he didn’t give up. After much persistence, he finally got me to go on a first date … to New Orleans! His grand and romantic gestures have yet to cease, and Jed proposed to me this past year with a morning picnic on the eve of my favorite holiday, Christmas. After two years of dating, falling more in love each and every day and knowing we want to spend the rest of our lives continuing to grow in that love, our wedding is just around the corner! We chose to celebrate our engagement at Kingsley Plantation in Jacksonville, Florida. Surrounded by the water, trees, and rustic landmarks it was the perfect spot to celebrate our love! We are planning an intimate December wedding of this year in St. Augustine surrounded by close family and friends.

From the Bride… Phil and I met during Homecoming at the University of Florida in 2005 at a Sorority/Fraternity “Saved by the Bell” themed party. I never thought when I left the party that I had just met my future husband. We went on a few dates over the following days and as they say, the rest is history. Our time together over the past years have included long distance struggles, Gator football, numerous holidays, many date nights, family vacations near and far, and a constant growing love for each other.

Our wedding was everything I dreamed it would be and more. From the beginning of the wedding planning process, I was determined to make our wedding a true reflection of who we are and as do-it-yourself as possible. Majoring in Event Management at UF, and working for a non-profit where I plan fundraising events, made me confident in the wedding planning process. There were bumps in the road along the way, but thanks to a supportive and handy fiancé, Style Me Pretty and Pinterest, it was possible. From picking our colors and assembling save-the-dates, to milk glass hunts with my bridesmaids at local antique malls, the whole process was a fabulously fun and exciting experience that I will never forget. Our DIY touches could be seen in the bridesmaids’ peacock hair clips, directional signs, chalkboard beer mugs for the men, our save-the-dates, wedding invitations and each one of my bridesmaids’ earrings made with love by me. The food was an amazing mix of everything we love, including sushi, mini burgers and chicken sandwiches, as well as a hint of southern comfort in the shrimp and grits, mashed potatoes, and brisket. We also made sure to include personal touches on our day that reminded us of those who were there in spirit. We both lost grandparents last year very shortly after we got engaged. To recognize each of them, I wore a brooch in my hair from my grandma and a dinner ring that was Phil’s grandmother’s. Phil and I picked out a special pair of freshwater pearl cufflinks for him to wear that belonged to his grandfather.

Our wedding was on St. Patrick’s Day, which we picked because of availability and the perspective that this would create a fun and entertaining night for all. Hints of green could be seen in our photo booth props, my late uncle’s rosary wrapped around my bouquet and the groom’s cake, which once cut revealed a green key lime cheesecake center. We even had a surprise from an old friend who changed into a St. Patty’s Day-inspired spandex suit! The entire weekend was full of incredible moments, from our rehearsal dinner and wedding to post-wedding brunch, that we will reminisce about for years to come. Thanks to all my amazingly talented vendors who made my vision come together with such ease! We are also grateful for our family and friends who were a part of our wonderful day!

Watersound Beach Club Wedding by Pure 7 Studios

There’s really nothing prettier than a beach wedding in Florida especially when it’s filled with gorgeous white flowers and fresh greenery and succulents. Each and every detail is so simple, pretty, and refreshing. I love how they kept their day intimate and had just a small gathering of family, ensuring a private and meaningful ceremony. Pure 7 Studios captured all the details in such a lovely way, that I don’t blame you if you spend half your day here in the gallery.

From the Bride… The inspiration of our wedding day goes back to how we first met. In late 2009, Matt decided he was going to move to Cambodia to pursue a job in a children’s hospital with a friend that he knew from Louisville (who was running the hospital). He put his house up for rent in November of 2009. Little did he know, that I lived right down the street about eight or nine houses. I was going through a divorce at the time and was looking for a place to rent for awhile. As I was leaving the neighborhood one day, I saw a “for rent” sign. I finally decided to call the number because I thought it was a neighbor I knew. Well, it wasn’t my neighbor, it was Matt. I think we both liked each other’s voice immediately. I decided in the end not to rent Matt’s place. A funny twist to the story was that after I called him, he called a mutual friend in the neighborhood to ask about me. While he was talking, I also called that same person to ask about him. Our first date was on November 20, 2009. We met at Starbucks and then went to Krispy Kreme to hang out for awhile. That was the start to our journey.

Matt actually knew, a month into our meeting one another, that he was going to marry me. Of course, at the time, I did not because life was so crazy and a lot was changing for me. He actually emailed his Cambodian friend in January 2010 to tell him he was not going to be joining him because he had met his future wife. I thought he was crazy for it at the time. He gave me the email that he sent to his Cambodian friend, and I was included at the end of the email. Without going into all of the details, as you can imagine, life was crazy for a while as I adjusted to a new life that I never planned for. Matt and I made it through the good times and bad and supported one another as best we knew how along the way. Over time we fell in love, and began to see how God brought our lives together and that there was a real future forming.

Matt took me to Florida on Memorial Day weekend in 2011 and rented a boat on the Destin Harbor. At sunset, we went for a ride, and he proposed to me. It was such a beautiful night and a very special day. On that trip, we actually met Jen and Jen and began the plans for our wedding. Matt had actually come across “It’s a Shore Thing” on the Internet and had spoken to Jen and Jen ahead of our trip. We loved the idea of a fall, beach wedding and thought 11/11/11 would be a great day to get married. We spent most of the summer getting things together. Our wedding was just our families, very small and intimate. Everything was absolutely perfect. Jen and Jen did such a fabulous job, the pictures were wonderful and Celestine’s did a beautiful job with the decorations. Shay at Watersound was so helpful and worked with Jen and Jen to make our day perfect. Dr. Taylor, our minister, really made the ceremony special, and Matt and I both felt like we connected to him. The sun was shining on our wedding day, and everything was perfect thanks to everyone’s help. Matt, I and all who attended were so happy that day and impressed with how beautiful it turned out.

Gainesville Wedding at the Sweetwater Branch Inn by Julie Cate Photography

Homegrown is taking on a whole new meaning. It’s not just for your veggie gardens anymore. In terms of lovely weddings, it’s a bride and groom that met in the fourth grade and grew-up down the street from one another. An Aunt and Mother of the Bride that lovingly crafted all those bright, sunny details right down to hemming all of the burlap runners.  A love that started in Gainesville and danced down the aisle in, you guessed it, Gainesville. This is truly a homegrown affair captured by Julie Cate Photography; no artificial flavors or processing. 100% organic and totally SMP approved. See it all right here.

From the Bride… Jeremy and I have been together for the last five years, and from the beginning of our engagement, we knew we wanted a fun, simple wedding surrounded by our family and closest friends. We chose to get married in Gainesville because this is where our relationship really began. We’ve known each other since we were in the fourth grade and grew up down the street from each other, but it wasn’t until we were both living in Gainesville that we really noticed one another. From the moment we saw Sweetwater Branch Inn, we knew it was exactly what we were looking for with its sweet southern charm. The staff there was absolutely AMAZING! They went out of their way to make sure us and our guests were having a wonderful time! They even made sure to put a plate of the appetizers and cupcakes in our honeymoon cottage so we were sure to have some.

Our wedding was a complete labor of love that wouldn’t have been possible without my aunt and mom. Our wedding was filled with sweet DIY details, and I absolutely loved the way it all came together. My aunt hemmed each and every one of the burlap runners herself. We purchased plain vases and used puff paint and spray paint to create a milk glass feel for the cocktail tables. Jeremy even helped out with these. The ceremony and reception area were decorated with “Olive Garden” lights, paper lanterns, wooden signs, chalkboards, mason jars, striped paper straws and burlap banners!

I can’t even begin to say how amazing all of our vendors were. Each of them were so wonderful to work with, and they truly helped make the day amazing.

From the Bride… Matt and I were high school sweethearts and had been dating for just under seven years when he proposed. Although we attended different colleges, we were able to maintain our relationship in spite of the distance. Leading up to our wedding, Matt and I were spread pretty thin between wedding planning, work, graduate school, and my father’s cancer diagnosis just three weeks before the wedding all added extra stress before our big day. Despite my father’s diagnosis and the extremely windy day, we decided to enjoy our day to the fullest and just have fun, and we did exactly that! We were so happy to start our lives together.

We had our ceremony at The Sailfish Club of Palm Beach. We chose this location because I have many great memories there with my family throughout the years. Embracing the decor, we decided on a vintage nautical style. To make our wedding more personal, Matt’s brother-in-law married us, his sisters read during the ceremony, and my brother played the ceremony music with his quartet from school. My mother and stepfather made the invitations, programs, place cards, and table knots. I’ve always love the look of multiple small arrangements, so I found most the centerpiece containers at thrift stores. Our get away car was a ’64 Ford convertible that my uncle had restored. The bridal portraits were taken at the house of a family friend’s on the island. We were so concerned about the pictures because of the strong gusts of wind and rain, but they turned out so much better then we could have imagined.

I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day, surrounded by those we love. We both had a blast as we danced the night away, feeling blessed by all of the love and support we’ve been given over the years.

Let’s talk about uber-stunning engagement sessions for a moment, shall we?  Because this drop-dead gorgeous Miami shoot has it seriously covered from A to Z.  A mesmerizing Biscayne Bay location (hello Stiltsville!), vibrant aqua blue waters and a could.not.be.cuter bride and groom…. with a sweet combination like that, you can’t help but smile from ear to ear.  And those glorious, sun-filled images captured by Becca Borge Photography?!?  Well, they are filling our day with a whole lot of HAPPY… and you can see the whole shebang right here.

From Becca of Becca Borge PhotographyStiltsville. Seven stilt houses, each almost a century old, in the middle of Biscayne Bay off Miami Beach. An amazing, secluded place off the coast of one of the busiest cities in the country. Christina and Leslie wanted their engagement session here because, well, it fits them perfectly. They love being out on the water, and they love doing things differently (Christina even opted for a lovely pearl ring instead of a diamond). So on a beautiful Florida day, Leslie took us out on his boat for a few hours for an unforgettable experience. I could tell when first met them a few months ago that they were such a sweet, genuine, down-to-earth couple, and I feel blessed that I was able to spend this day with them to capture their love.

Orlando Wedding at The Summerlin House at Thornton Park by Eleven Eleven Photography

There is DIY and then there is something more along the lines of DIT – Do It Together. This Orlando affair captured by Eleven Eleven Photography falls right into that happy category with the Bride and Groom crafting their own invitations to working with the design talent of Creative Designs Weddings & Events to come up with a backyard shindig that was so very much them, right down to the vegan brunch. It’s all streamers and balloons and smiles and you can see more of the day right here.

From Annie of Eleven Eleven PhotographyLooking for a wedding brimming with DIY details? Shannon’s and Owen’s wedding would be it. Every corner of their venue featured some special project with the couple had worked on in preparation for the wedding. Team their creativity with the talented folks at Creative Designs Weddings & Events, and the end result was an intimate backyard affair that totally honored the couple and their love for each other. The bride and groom poured tons of time and effort into their wedding. The bride, Shannon, started by assembling by hand the couple’s formalwear-adorned cake topper. The venue was brimming with whimsy, from the colorful streamers that were hand-cut by the bride to the mismatched chairs and china. The couple scoured antique and vintage stores for items which they then paired with flowers to make one-of-a-kind centerpieces. When Shannon couldn’t find an affordable headpiece online, she decided to make one herself. By attaching a craft store simple flower to a piece of French netting fabric, she created a beautiful vintage look.

Wanting something more unique than a unity candle, the couple decided to write each other letters the night before the wedding. During the ceremony, they sealed these letters, along with a bottle of wine in a box, to be opened and enjoyed on their fifth anniversary. Catering was also reflective of the couple. A good friend and local restaurateur served a 100% vegan brunch, featuring items such as biscuits and gravy complete with vegan sausage, cinnamon rolls, grits and oatmeal. Rounding out the celebration was a banjo player, who provided simple musical accompaniment for the ceremony and throughout brunch, as well as a caricature artist who gave guests personalized sketches as party favors.

Islamorada Wedding at the Drop Anchor Resort & Marina by Vitalic Photo

I am full on convinced that rain on your wedding day brings out not only the best in couples but also makes for some fabulous photos. And when those photos are from Vitalic Photo, it’s a fab-photo guarantee. A little sprinkle didn’t phase this completely in love duo, if anything I think the grey skies added to this already lovely Key West soiree – and the full gallery is all the proof you need that this wedding was as fun as it was fabulous!

From the Bride… When my husband and I first talked about our wedding, there was little doubt where we wanted to tie the knot. We both love the ocean and knew that Islamorada – the tiny island in the Florida Keys where I spent my childhood summers – was the perfect place for the fun and laid back beach wedding we envisioned. We rented out The Drop Anchor Resort, a small 1960s-era motel on the beach, as our wedding location and took to calling it our “Love Shack.” I worked with my friend Lisa, a designer, to create a theme inspired by Mexican folk art. She created a logo of our initials inside a papel picado (Mexican paper flag).  We used orange and fuchsia as the primary colors to create a sense of vibrancy and used black as an accent for some added drama. A custom mad lib with our fuchsia logo was at every place setting at dinner and I created black tin can luminaries with our initials hand-punched into them for the tables. Flowers in the Keys were hard to come by without costing a fortune, so I rented potted succulents from a local landscaping company. My husband created the wedding program fans that carried on our theme, and we gave our guests orange maracas made in Mexico as wedding favors.

We planned all of the details down to a “T,” but Mother Nature is one thing that just can’t be planned. The day of our wedding saw torrential downpours (the start of a five-day stretch that would set a Florida record) and our caterer urged us to move our wedding to a nearby restaurant and give up the dream of a beach front wedding. My husband looked at me with calm eyes and assured me it would be okay. I allowed myself five minutes of panic and no more. I was marrying my best friend, so it was going to be one of the happiest days of my life, regardless of the weather. We decided to carry on with our original plan, with the addition of a tent and a lot of umbrellas. Guests sat at communal tables under the tent for our ceremony while the rain poured around us. As soon as the ceremony concluded, the rain let up for the first time all day. Guests mingled on the beach for a cocktail reception, followed by a buffet-style Caribbean dinner. After dinner, with the rain still letting up, we gave guests sparklers and asked them to get into a circle to the tune of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire.” We then surprised them with a performance from a local fire dancer. My husband and I were even treated to a surprise as fireworks went off over the ocean as the song ended.

The rest of the night saw more rain but by that point we didn’t care — we danced our butts off and ended the evening with an impromptu pool party under the cloudy sky. The day was more amazing than I could have ever imagined. They say rain on your wedding day is good luck, and I truly believe it made our wedding day even better. It made everyone remember why we were together — the food, the drinks and the details are nice, but we were there to be surrounded by and celebrating love. I’m so grateful to our vendors, who helped make the event wonderful, and to our amazing friends and family, who showed us that no storm can dampen their ability to have a really great time.

St. Augustine Wedding at The Oldest House by Ben Sasso

From their movie-worthy meeting to their joyful St. Augustine wedding, this gorgeous couple’s relationship has been romance to the very max!  Their crazy, beautiful love for each other just shines through these images by Ben Sasso.  And speaking of beautiful, their fabulous Indian-meets-France wedding is just beyond.  It is full of style, vibrant details and one of the most killer first dances I’ve ever seen!  Click here to see it all!

From Ben Sasso This wedding was the epitome of romance. It was so beautiful too see how in love these two are. Thibaut and Pooja met salsa dancing in France while he was finishing his studies and she was teaching English. Sounds like a movie, I know. If it was a movie, I would own it. Their wedding was a beautiful fusion of French and Indian culture. As typical with Indian weddings, Pooja had henna done on her hands and feet the day before the wedding. After getting ready at The Kenwood Inn in St. Augustine, the ceremony was held at The Oldest House (one of my favorite venues), and the reception took place in the loft and on the roof of The White Room.
