Miami Wedding from Shea Christine + A Love for Detail

You know what I really love? A bride who isn’t afraid to get her hands a little dirty. A bride who’ll hunt for those perfect vintage pieces and craft her sweet heart out into the wee hours of the night. Those are the weddings that just stand out. And this Miami soiree is the aforementioned to a T. With a bride who happens to be beauty behind A Love For Detail, there’s no question every moment was carefully crafted from the inside out. Shea Christine snapped up all the pretty, and if you’re still left longing for more — you can find it right here.

From the Bride…When planning our wedding, we wanted a venue that reflected our style, and where we could have our ceremony outside, and dinner and dancing inside, all at one location. There are so many beautiful beach venues in Miami, but none felt perfect until we saw the rustic Cooper Estate in Florida’s Redlands farm district. We decided on a “modern vintage” style wedding. I wanted the feeling of the wedding to be intimate, romantic, and warm. Milk glass vases, dessert stands, and lace runners were all carefully picked, and I even started to learn what pieces were rare finds! A lot of the milk glass came from Pennsylvania, where Christian and his family are from. Evenings were spent handcrafting seating cards, “Mr. & Mrs” signs, my garter, conversation starter cards for guests, and even building a frame for our Instagram (#SipCipHorray) chalkboard. It truly was a labor of love. I scoured Etsy for all the perfect details, from the wedding signs and table numbers, to the plush “love” fruit on the table.

Amazing floral designs by Julia Rohdes added our peach, orange, and grey colors all with an air of romance. The floral textures were unique and elegant. This planner could not run her own wedding, so I hired a wonderful Day-Of Coordinator, Better Half Weddings, and all the details, love, and fun were beautifully captured by photographer Shea Christine. It was a small, intimate wedding of 85 of our closest family and friends. Our bridal party consisted of my two very best friends, who are so different from each other, that I thought they should both wear different colors and style of dress. The best man is Christian’s best friend from college. The flower girl is my adorable niece whose mother hand crafted the flowers on her dress, and my brother officiated the wedding. A few days before the wedding the weather reports said there would be rain, I was so worried, but decided that we would just have to deal if it were to rain. I went out and bought two stylish umbrellas, but still hoped for the best. The day of the wedding, which was also my late Grandmothers birthday, turned out to be sunny and unseasonably cool for Miami. We got lucky, and I like to think it was my Grandmothers doing. On my bouquet I had small frames with their pictures and my “something blue” was my Great Grandmother’s’ handkerchief. Our wedding day was one of the best and happiest days of my life. I got to marry my best friend, dance, celebrate with my family and friends and wear a fabulous dress and veil while doing it! I wish we could do it all over again!

Fort Myers Wedding at The White Orchid from Riversedge Lifestyle Photography

What do you get when you combine a stunning bride + lover of all things New Orleans and a handsome groom with a passion for his home state of Florida?  Well, lovelies, you get one downright gorgeous Fort Meyers shindig infused with New Orleans style from start to finish.  A shindig, mind you, that boasts lush florals from Fort Myers Floral Express, fab DIY stylings and an entire gallery of lovely captured by Riversedge Lifestyle Photography.  Join me there for all of the pretty.  It’s a must-see.

From the Bride… I fell in love with New Orleans after attending law school there pre and post Katrina. There’s something about NOLA that just gets under your skin and into your blood- the food, the music and vibrancy of the city are things I miss now that I have moved back to my home state of Florida. In fact, New Orleans is where Ryan asked me to marry him. Right in front of Saint Louis Cathedral, in the middle of a crowded Mardi Gras street. By the time we were on the plane headed home, I had the whole wedding planned- a destination wedding in my favorite city! But when I asked my soon-to-be groom if he was on board he responded, “Honey, I want you to have the wedding of your dreams but I just have one request- I want to get married in Florida. It’s where we both grew up and where we’ve both come back to start our lives. It’s important to me.” Well who can argue with that? Not a problem- I would just bring my New Orleans vision to Florida.

My mom and I discovered the White Orchid at Oasis very late in our venue hunt. Someone mentioned to me in passing “an old house on the river” that they heard was now being used for parties. My fiancé Ryan grew up in Fort Myers, so being near the river was something I knew he would love and I was hoping to find. When I finally located this beautiful, old house and stood on its wrap around back porch looking across the long lawn and into the water, I knew this was it. The house is like a blank canvas and I was armed with a list of DIY’s to fill the rooms with. I got so much inspiration from sites like Style Me Pretty. I devoured the photos of real weddings that had been in New Orleans or had that old world, antique feel that I so badly wanted my guests to experience. My DIY projects turned out to be a family affair, with loved ones from both sides pitching in. My mom found the black, wrought iron centerpieces in a clearance sale and my mother-in-law’s best friend helped design and decorate our “New Orleans dessert room”- even crafting the “Café du Monde” cart that served chicory coffee and hot, powered beignets as our specialty dessert. And what a pleasant surprise to find my groom get inspired as well when he saw how dedicated I was to detail. He researched and then made a delicious homemade blood orange vodka that we used in our signature cocktails.

On the morning of the wedding, I walked into the house to find the loveliest gift. Ryan’s two Uncles, who lived in New Orleans for 10 years before Katrina forced them to move, had stayed up all night making us each an authentic, elaborate 2nd line umbrella. I was truly touched and these are two incredible pieces of art I will forever cherish. I must say that Jamie & Jacob Catering were wonderful also at embracing my vision and making it a reality. Their chef even made a crawfish tasso cheesecake recipe from my favorite New Orleans restaurant as an appetizer! Of course we had to finish the night with my favorite memory and a New Orleans essential made a reality by Mark Zauss and the Z Street Band- the 2nd line parade around the property including all the guests.

Vizcaya Miami Bridal Session from Kt Crabb Photography

Florida weather is notoriously unpredictable (I’ve learned as much in my several vacations to the Sunshine State), and while I personally love the off and on rain, it doesn’t always bode well for your wedding day.  So when these two sweeties encountered a little drizzle, and missed their chance at some crazy fun portraits, they decided a re-do was most definitely in order.  The result?  A drop-dead gorgeous day of beautiful images captured by Kt Crabb Photography.  Join me in the gallery for all of the pretty.

From Kt Crabb PhotographyBecky and Kyle met in their college years and said their “I do”s a few months ago. Florida weather likes to bring a little surprise to each day and this was no different. Sunny one moment and raining the next, we didn’t manage to get any fun portraits of the two on their wedding day. They decided to visit Vizcaya and take another chance with the weather. I’d say they made a great choice and example of options to take if it rains on your wedding day. Who wouldn’t want to get dressed up in their wedding attire again?!

Jacksonville Wedding from Agnes Lopez Photography

Weddings can do a number on my mood, always in the positive direction. They can make me happy, giddy, so in love, romantic… the list goes on. But weddings like this one from Agnes Lopez Photography make me sigh. And smile. It’s like a mini vacation (fitting, since this Jacksonville locale is beyond beautiful) to get me through my afternoon. The whole gallery is, simply, refreshing.

From the photographer… Margaret and Chris were married at Timuquana Country Club in an outdoor ceremony by the water with a lovely view of downtown Jacksonville.

I knew they were a fun loving couple from the time I spent with them for their engagement shoot, and I loved watching Chris make Margaret laugh through out the night.

Rosemary Beach, Florida Wedding from Mariee Ami Wedding Planning Studio

I think we can all agree this Rosemary Beach wedding is the definition of romance. And with Mariée Ami Wedding Planning Studio behind every ounce of lovely, it’s no wonder this whitewashed beach affair managed to marry elegance and style in the prettiest of ways. Add in the photo taking talents of A Bryan Photo, and we’ve got a gallery that absolutely, positively can’t be missed. Get your morning swoon on right over here.

From Mariée Ami Wedding Planning StudioFran and Thomas were one of the goofiest couples we have worked with.  As soon as Fran got engaged she called and said she would be having a beach wedding and the rest would be up to Mariée Ami! Thomas proposed at Fran’s family beach house in Alys Beach, so it was an easy decision of where it would take place. The design was a mix Fran’s Anthropologie-like style with the beach’s clean and nautical setting. Fran also loves pattern so we incorporated yellow chevron stripes that showed up in her paper suite, and yellow large-scale floral linens into her reception. Succulents, terrariums with greenery, and luscious white flowers mixed with crisp gray and white made this noon wedding work! And since Fran and Thomas are always the life of every party we needed that “fun” signature element. We gave out sunglasses with tags reading “Our future’s so bright, You’ve got to wear shades.” It was a huge hit!

Islamorada Florida Wedding from Bob Care Photography

When beach and chic combine, you can guarantee I will be at full attention. Because there is nothing that makes me more giddy than a seaside soiree that has the perfect amount of glamour. This wedding, planned to complete perfection by the beauty of a Bride, is filled with all the reasons my heart does flips for such a fête – and you can see all the reasons why thanks to the gorgeous images from Bob Care right here.

From Bob CareErin and Shawn’s style was very clean and simple, white and coral were the colors of her décor. Erin is a professional event planner, so she planned every little detail of her special day, with the help of wedding blogs and bridal magazines. Their story began in the winter of 2011 when Erin moved from New York City to Tallahassee, Florida for a great new job opportunity and little did she know– to meet the love of her life! As Erin started settling in to Tally, her mutual friends introduced her to Shaun one Friday happy hour and the two hit it off instantly! Erin never imagined she would meet her future husband in Tallahassee but this big city girl and small town boy connected instantly through their faith in God and their desire to live a life that honors Him.

Their early dates consisted of LONG conversations full of our hopes, dreams and aspirations. They did fun stuff too– like traveling and meeting family and friends in New Jersey, New York City and Tally. Not much time passed when Erin and Shaun knew this was forever. Labor Day Weekend 2012 Shaun proposed to Erin on Anna Maria Island, their favorite Florida beach. Shaun proposed on Bean’s Point, where the Gulf meets Tampa Bay, just as the sun came down.

From the Bride…The overall experience of planning a destination weddings was much more smooth than I expected it to be. I had never visited the Keys or Islamorada before. It was suggested to me from a co-worker as a great US destination wedding. Near a large airport and not too far of a drive since all my guests would be flying from all over the US. The Postcard Inn was a dream to work with. They handled everything on the catering, day of coordinating, etc. Finding vendors was easy with their preferred vendor list. I visited the venue in December 2012 and met with the hotel, florist and cake designer. Everything else was booked on a hope and a prayer- and it was AWESOME!

I cut out pictures from a ton of bridal magazines of things I liked (also from Style Me Pretty), dresses, invitations, decor, etc. I used those pictures with my vendors and it was extremely helpful. Having a picture is the only way to get what you really want. Since I have been an event planner in my professional career, planning this wedding was never overwhelming to me. It was a medium I kept a checklist from a bridal magazine on my work bulletin board. I looked it over every day to make sure I was on track. It helped organize what I needed to do 1 yr out, 8 months out, 6 months out and so on! It really worked for me.

My wedding day was Perfect, radiant, exciting, full of joy, sunny and cool, it really was the perfect temperature and not a cloud in the sky. I started the day at a bridal luncheon thrown by a dear family friend of my mother-in-law’s. Then make up and hair with my bridesmaids. It was a fun day of relaxing and excitement with my bridesmaids. Seeing Shaun when I walked down the aisle was the moment I most looked forward to. We had both been through a lot to get to this day and we are just in awe of God’s perfect plan for our marriage. He is my best friend, truly. Saying our vows, listening to each word and the pastor’s words was really moving. Remembering God’s purpose for marriage and our deep commitment to each other is most important. The other wedding planning stuff wasn’t as important. I am really glad it all turned out well but if it hadn’t, or something had gone wrong, it would have been OK…because I was there for one reason. To marry the love of my life. I have to say also, the party was SO fun. Food was out of this world and the DJ was the best I have ever hired, and I hired a bunch in NYC for many large parties! It was so amazing to spend all weekend with your closest friends and family and dance the night away on Sunday at our wedding. It was so special to have them all there with us to celebrate.

Some advice from the Bride… *DO NOT STRESS about the small things. It doesn’t matter what your flowers looked like, or if your noses bumped into one another when the Pastor said you can kiss your bride (which happened to us!), or if a detail is forgotten. Remember why you are planning this, to marry your best friend and love. The planning is super fun and will make a difference, for sure, to make your wedding a dream. But remember why you are there and just enjoy it. It’s very rare to have all your closest friends and family in one place. Enjoy that. Don’t sweat the small stuff- it’s likely only you are going to know those things anyway!

*The best advice I got was to pick three things that meant the most to me and let the rest just happen. So I focused on my dress, my food, and my DJ. I wanted to look pretty and I wanted the guests to have full bellies and sore feet by the end of the night. All of which happened. The rest of the planning was easy. I made the best decisions I could and moved on. It’s overwhelming if you don’t!

Ringling Museum of Art Wedding from Jenny Haas Photography

If there is one thing I know for certain about glamorous weddings, it’s that they tend to leave me speechless.  Which can sort of be a problem, since it happens to be my job to talk all things pretty.  And when you throw in a breathtaking setting like the historical Ringling Museum of Art, beautiful blooms from Beneva Flowers and a whole host of yummy goodness from Milan Catering and Event Design (hello, grilled cheese panini), I become a blubbering mess of adjectives.  See why in the full gallery captured by Jenny Haas Photography.  It’s amazing.

From the Bride… Landyn and I are both engineers and typically drawn to clean and modern design. However, we found ourselves absolutely captivated by the romance and history at the Ringling Museum of Art Courtyard. It reminded us of a European vacation we took for graduation and felt it truly was the venue of our dreams. It really dictated the themes of romance and travel, but we injected fun with live music and modern flourishes when appropriate.

We chose a color palette of black, white and pale green because it complimented the pale pink walls of the courtyard and evoked the old world appeal of space. I wore a lace mermaid gown for the ceremony that felt renaissance and changed into a modern paillette sequins covered dress for dancing. Landyn loves hats and wore a top hat, suspenders, and white jacket to make his look unique and as he describes “made him feel like James Bond.” We kept the flowers basic because the courtyard had plenty of style and we didn’t want to detract from it. All the bridesmaids carried a different bouquet, each of one type of white bloom – lilies, hydrangea, roses, baby’s breath, gerbera daisies, lisianthus and white stock. We had the bouquets wrapped in lace to reflect the lace in my wedding dress. Each groomsman had a matching boutonniere to his coordinating bridesmaid and each dinner table centerpiece contained a vase of one type of the same blooms. Since we love to travel we named each dinner table a city where we had a great memory. Escort cards were made to resemble luggage tags and guests were prompted on how to use the card and find their seat by a poster exclaiming “Where in the World am I sitting?” The ceremony programs were designed to look like black and white passports and each page was printed with a custom watermark.

Our family and friends are everything to us and our wedding was only going to be good if everyone had fun. That’s why I had the bridesmaid pick their own gowns. If they were feeling confident and beautiful, they were sure to have a good time with everyone at the wedding. We wanted live music throughout the evening because it felt more interactive. A string trio played a mix of our modern rock favorites and classical pieces through the ceremony and the cocktail hour. The live band and bold black and white checkered dance floor really motivated guests to dance throughout the evening. Food is another great love of ours so we wanted guests to sample yummy bites throughout the evening with passed hors d’oeurves at cocktail hour and ending the night with midnight snack food including grilled cheese paninis and mini cheese burgers (our personal favorite bite of the evening). All in all, it was the best night of my life captured so true and elegantly by Jenny and Will’s photography that I know the evening can live on forever in these images.

Sarasota Florida Beach Anniversary Shoot from Sarah Joelle Photography

It’s not always easy to return to work after a holiday, but here at SMP we’re committed to making it as awesome as possible.  Which is why we thought we’d share this drop-dead gorgeous anniversary shoot from Sarah Joelle Photography.  A day at the beach, a plethora of light-filled images and a stunning duo sharing their love with each and everyone of you?  Life is sooo good.  Click here for more.

From Sarah Joelle PhotographyRyan and Kay’s anniversary session was shot all in FILM at a little beach near Sarasota, FL. Ryan and Kay are college sweethearts and married soon after graduation. They are coming up on their third wedding anniversary in July. The couple moved to Florida for jobs and the pristine, white, sandy beaches seemed like the perfect spot for their session. The soft colors of the blue water, white sand, and the warm golden sun make my heart happy! I love this classic session for the romantic sweetness and the playfulness! Kay rocked the classic black bikini. As a photographer I love anniversary sessions because it is a reason to celebrate the marriage after the wedding! It’s a fun little way of saying “I still choose you.”

Fourth of July Inspired Shoot from Luminescence Studios

Before you head on out to celebrate the fourth in whichever way you choose (hello BBQ’s!), we thought it was only right to celebrate right here on the pages of SMP Florida too. And celebrate we shall in the only way we know how, by sharing some Americana-inspired pretty. We owe this gorgeous dose of red, white and blue to Luminescence Studios, and you can see every last bit of the patriotic pretty right here in the full gallery.

From Luminescence StudiosMemorial Day weekend my husband and I were having a barbecue in our backyard and we saw some kids next door playing with sparklers, laughing and having the time of their lives. In that moment an idea popped in my head for a styled shoot that embraced what it means to be an American, everything that makes living in the US so amazing. So I organized a shoot that embraced red, white, and blue, Coca-Cola, sparklers, backyards, classic cars, and just plain fun.

We shot this in a friend’s Jupiter, Florida backyard, then headed on over to a local field at Riverbend Park, after a short drive with the top down in my father-in-law’s 1975 Chevy Caprice. Just in time for the Fourth of July!

Florida State Fair Engagement from Sarah & Ben

Carnival engagement sessions are sooo much fun.  The kind of fun that can only be had when you pair two adorable cuties with a ferris wheel, stuffed animals and a whole lot of cotton candy.  And when those two adorable cuties are as stylish as these two (tulle + denim = fabulous), it takes it to an entirely new level of lovely.  See every last fun-filled moment captured by Sarah & Ben in the full gallery.

From Sarah & BenWe are SO excited to share this fair engagement session with you! These two are having a circus-themed wedding later this year, so the fair was the perfect setting for their engagement session. We loved how easily they interacted with each other, and the effortless style they both seem to have. We were obsessed with the bride-to-be’s tulle skirt and the Anthropologie necklace she wore with her second outfit. All in all, it was a perfect couple in a truly perfect setting! Here are a few words from the bride-to-be about their session . . .

From the Bride… When deciding where to do our engagement photos, we knew we wanted a fun, whimsical backdrop. Although I tried to imagine a few settings, we kept coming back to a carnival feel, and after discussing it with Sarah & Ben we decided The State Fair was the perfect setting for us. The day of our engagement pictures was the most romantic day EVER. Sarah & Ben did so much work, and we didn’t have to do anything but steal the occasional kiss and be silly with one another – two of our favorite things! The whole day was full of fun and adventure, and was topped off perfectly with a nighttime ride on the ferris wheel. While we were riding the ferris wheel it stopped for a moment, and we were stuck at the top. We turned to each other and kissed, and all of a sudden fireworks started going off in the background! Real, live FIREWORKS. It was by far the most romantic moment I’ve ever had, and we were fortunate enough to have Sarah & Ben there to capture it!

Destination Wedding at Watercolor Resort from Stephanie Rhea

Drop-dead gorgeous weddings and rainy days at the beach- two of my favorite things.  And when the two combine for a breathtaking Watercolor Resort affair from Stephanie Rhea Photography?  Absolutely amazing.  Because overcast skies, pristine beaches and uber-romantic stylings always, always deliver the pretty.  Add in a bundle of beautiful blooms from Fisher’s Flowers, a stunning gown from Elizabeth Fillmore and two seriously adorable cuties and we’re calling this the perfect Tuesday treat.  See so much more in the full gallery.

From Stephanie Rhea PhotographyAlthough it rained almost the entire day of this Santa Rosa Beach destination wedding, it was one of my favorites. Both Kate and Greg work in the design world, and their wedding details reflected it, including the Save The Date cards designed by the groom himself and the labels for the honey jars that just happened to come from Kate’s father’s bees. California guy + Mississippi girl = a match made in Heaven!

From the Bride… For Greg and me, it was easy to decide a destination wedding was for us. Our families stretched from north to south and coast to coast, and we wanted to bring them and our closest friends together in one place… where you could walk or bike everywhere you wanted or needed to be. As a native Mississippian, I was drawn to Hwy 30A and Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, where I had spent many years vacationing with my family. Greg, who grew up in California, wasn’t familiar with the area, but was hooked after just one visit, as we were planning for where our wedding would be. I was not surprised. Watercolor would be the place… a place that has focused on retaining open and natural spaces, with beauty and character in their own right.

I was not one to have ever really thought about what the details of our wedding day would be, but our goal was to be sure that the natural character of the spaces we chose were complimented, not covered up. The location of our wedding was already a special place. We worked closely with Fisher’s Flowers, from design concept to fruition, to add to what was already a natural and peaceful environment. Both Greg and I are in design related fields and were able to create some of the elements, from the rehearsal dinner to the reception, that made it all feel unique. One of my favorites was the label for my dad’s honey jars, which were favors for our guests.

Did I mention that it rained more than I have ever seen it rain before at the beach? Here is a lesson. We had all, of course, hoped for wonderful warm sunny weather. But, there was something about all the umbrellas and the light drizzle leading up to and during the wedding, while we all were gathered closely under a tent, that was very special. The rain added an element and a kind of sacredness that is hard to explain. And, lucky for us, it stopped just as the ceremony ended, allowing us to make a dash to the beach with our wonderful photographer, Stephanie Rhea, to capture a personal moment for me and Greg. I have never seen the beach that way, without anyone else on it. The light and colors were almost surreal. It was perfect.

There are too many good memories to list here… from all of the preparation, the gentle rain that fell during the actual wedding to being in the company of family and friends, who traveled far to be with us on this most special occasion. One that I remember most is looking down the long family style reception tables, scattered with pots of rosemary, lavender, succulents and candle filled mercury jars and seeing all of us gathered, laughing and talking. It was like a big family dinner… one that we will never forget.

Winterbourne on the St. Johns Wedding from Jenn Hopkins Photography

I’ve never actually visited the picturesque venue that is the Winterbourne on the St. Johns, but I can tell you with absolute certainty that it was one of the most beautiful places ever to say “I do.”  It’s a certainty that comes with a whole lot of definitive research on the subject, aka, hours upon hours of soaking in the pretty from this darling day captured by Jenn Hopkins Photography… a day that is dripping in heartwarming moments, beautiful blooms from Lori Parker Floral Studios and beyond breathtaking details.  Oh, Winterbourne.  I love you.  See so much more right here.

From the Bride… Where it all began– Samuel and I knew each other throughout high school, but never really took the time to get to know one another. After high school Sam attended The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina and I went to the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. On December 17, 2007, Sam returned from college for Christmas break. All of our friends decided to go camping at Hannah Park for my birthday. That night Sam told me in four years when he was a senior he was going to marry me. I thought that was very bold for someone who I wasn’t even dating. Since that moment we knew we were meant for each other and we began dating.

Exactly four years later on December 17, 2011, Sam took me back to Hannah park for our annual camping trip. He rented the same camp site where we first started dating. When it was time for bed we climbed inside the tent and all of a sudden he was down on one knee. He asked me if I remembered what he said to me four years ago. It was a perfect and meaningful engagement and we couldn’t be happier.

Samuel and I are so laid back and easy going we felt the Winterbourne Inn on the St. Johns was a perfect venue for us. It was a place where our family and close friends felt relaxed and it had a backyard wedding feeling. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. The weather was absolutely beautiful for a February wedding in Florida. We had our reception outside by the St. Johns River. We had cocktail hour outside where guest were able to play lawn games and eat butler passed food. Our wedding party was announced outside and Sam and I had our first dance on the lawn with all of our family and friends overlooking us from the balcony. We then made our way inside for the reception. We had a Southern buffet which was delicious! After dinner guest danced the night away, played lawn games and utilized our homemade photobooth which was a blast! We couldn’t have asked for a better day. We had our dream wedding and I am so lucky to have married my best friend.

I should also mention that Mari dominated the pageant world (Miss University of Florida, Miss Florida, Top Ten Miss America)! Travis has an outgoing personality and a great sense of humor. His vows were so romantic and quite a moment during the ceremony. The vows made it difficult to focus on what I needed to be doing while filming the wedding! The ceremony was held outside, by the big oak tree. Their beautiful son, Augi, their English Bulldog, was simply the perfect ring bearer.

Miami Beach Wedding from Michelle Lawson Photography + Kitanim

Fact: when you combine ultra-cool contemporary stylings, a breathtaking all-white color palette and the glamour that is Miami Beach, it’s always a magical thing.  Especially when that trio of goodness is executed by some of Florida’s finest vendors, like the uber-amazing Kitanim and Michelle Lawson Photography.  Together (with Linsey Harris Smith and Erin Kozlowski), they helped this stunning bride and groom create a day that is beyond breathtaking.  See every last magical moment in the full gallery.

From Kitanim, a floral design and event companyGrace and David chose The Bath Club, Miami Beach for its ambiance and architectural uniqueness. With an all-white color palette, Kitanim created low garden-inspired centerpieces that graced all of the reception tables. The wedding structure Grace and David got married in front of was an all-white carnation masterpiece. Each carnation bloom was hand-wired to create a free flowing structure that served as a wedding vow exchange backdrop. The party continued after dinner in the all-white “club room” where white balloons and the bride acting as “DJ” made for fun photo ops.

Sarasota, Florida Sailboat Wedding from Sophan Theam Photography

I’ve been swimming in the sea of pretty that are these images by Sophan Theam Photography for, oh, about two hours now. And I don’t plan on leaving this gallery of coastal goodness anytime soon. Seriously. Because this wedding is simply a dream come true for any ocean-loving soul, and really everyone else for that matter. See what all my gushing is about here.

Colors

From the Bride… Once we decided to marry in a private ceremony, we shared our plans with the family and received their full blessings. Both of our families are Florida natives of several generations, so the notion of an at-sea wedding was born of our shared love for the Gulf of Mexico. We invited only 5 guests, one of whom is an attorney of the State and dear friend. He graciously accepted our request to conduct the ceremony.

We connected with the owners of a 41-foot Morgan sailboat in Sarasota. The couple who own and operate the boat enjoy a great reputation for their services, which was well-documented online, but beyond this they were so friendly and happy to work with us to create our sunset wedding cruise. Their sailboat was immaculate and so comfortable. They’re also such interesting people with amazing stories about their lives, we loved spending this day with them.

I found our photographer’s name here on Style Me Pretty and was captivated by her work. She was the only person we called. I was thrilled to learn that she was available and up for the adventure of this non-traditional ceremony. We worried that a photographer would be hesitant to take their valuable equipment on open water – but Sophan shared with us nothing but excitement for the event.

I honored my family with “something old” by wearing an ivory shawl that had belonged to my paternal grandmother. My “something new” was a delicate crystal necklace from a friend. The groom’s sister honored their mother’s memory by providing my earrings as “something borrowed”. These earrings were worn by the groom’s mother at his sister’s wedding. The final detail of “something blue” was found in my glittery baby blue pedicure. There were a few other traditional wedding details; a beautiful white phalaenopsis cascading bouquet, a sweet little coconut cake and plenty of rosé champagne. Standing alongside the tall mast of the boat, we exchanged vows and rings just before sunset as our few guests watched from the bow. The wedding cruise had a taste of adventure and elegance, but was also relaxed and easygoing – a good reflection of our personalities.

The groom wore a navy and tan suit with a maritime flag bowtie. The dress was serendipity. Over a decade ago, I had tried on (and fallen hard for) an Amy Michelson design that I never purchased. Flash forward to a few weeks before we were to set sail, when I happened upon a photo of this dress on Pinterest. Another click brought me to the listing of this never-worn gown on a bridal resale site in my exact measurements, head to toe. It arrived at my door eight days before the wedding and fit me perfectly. I consider it a wedding gift from the universe.

My now-husband and I first met while we lived across the hall from each other in a historic Davis Island apartment building named “The Ritz”, so we thought it fitting that we spend the honeymoon weekend at Sarasota’s Ritz-Carlton. The lovely people who work at this resort, at their restaurant Jack Dusty in particular, went so far above and beyond in helping us celebrate the occasion. It was the cherry-on-top of our wonderfully romantic wedding weekend. We look forward to many returns for anniversary celebrations!

Rosemary Beach Florida DIY Wedding from Dear Wesleyann Photography

This wedding from Dear Wesleyann Photography is filled with my favorite detail of all – heart. Yes, it’s also swimming with sweet touches like cookies cooked by Mema, flowers whipped up by the mother of the Bride and stationery designed by the Bride herself – but above all the sweet, sentimental touches it’s the love that circles this family (old and new), that is truly the most special detail of all. See it all here.

From WesleyannI don’t think I could put into words how much I adored this wedding and how much this sweet, precious couple warmed my heart!! Katie is a photographer in Tennessee and probably the craftiest and most talented lady I know. Her entire wedding was pretty much DIY and it was beautiful!!!!

From the Bride… Kyle and I both grew up in Tennessee and met each other during our college days at the University of Memphis where Kyle played baseball. We are beach kind of people; our first trip together was a week of sun on the sandy beaches of the Florida panhandle. I knew from the very beginning that I was going to marry this guy and dreamed of a destination wedding, and that is exactly what we did.

On the cold morning of February 24th 2012 Kyle begged me to go walk on the beach with him to see how the water felt. I was confused but went along with it. As I stood there cold and ready to head to our favorite breakfast spot (Hibiscus), Kyle grabbed me and started saying the something with the words “I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” The next thing I knew he was down on one knee and I said YES! We immediately went to the beautiful town of Rosemary and started planning our dream wedding! We both knew we wanted to be married at the beach, but not ON the beach. The Town Hall at Rosemary was perfect for us! We wanted a small intimate wedding with our closest friends and family celebrating with us.

One week before the big day we drove down to Rosemary with SUV’s full of “Katie and Kyle” wedding gear. The days leading up were spent relaxing on the beautiful white sand beaches and finalizing some last minute details with vendors. Wednesday before the wedding we had a casual welcome party for our guests were they received there handmade welcome bags full of wedding gear, official corn hole game rules, snacks and local Rosemary finds. My Pepa Gale and dad were grilling up some delicious burgers as everyone lounged around the grounds.

We had a wonderful rehearsal that Thursday at the Town Hall where our amazing friend Sherene Katzman ran the show. She was there to make sure all we planned went off without a hitch. We then went over to Café Thirty A for a wonderful dinner and a walk down memory lane. The party continued on to Kyle’s carriage house and ended the night packing for the honeymoon that Kyle had planned for us. He kept everything a secret until we got to the airport!

The morning of our big day was perfect. The weather was amazing and I was surrounded with my wonderful sisters and best friends. We got ready together at the house in Rosemary. We sipped on mimosas while doing hair and makeup and counting down the minutes. My bridesmaids all wore different dresses that they choose from J Crew and the groomsmen wore khaki suits from Joseph A Banks. We wanted a very natural and neutral color scheme and the attire was perfect. The bridesmaids wore pumps from BCBG and handmade earrings from Pamela Mills of Lil Happy’s. My jewelry was made by Catherine Butler, who I found on Etsy after hours and hours of searching for the perfect “Something New.” I absolutely loved it! Bagdley Mischka shoes were my wedding day saviors and the sash, handmade by mother, completed my look for the most special day of my life. The broach I wore in my hair was my Great Aunt’s. When we were little, my sisters and I always loved playing dress up with her beautiful jewelry and this brooch was my “Something Old.” My beautiful rose gold eternity band that Kyle picked out for me was not ready in time for the wedding so our jeweler sent him one with a loaner band which ended up being my “Something Borrowed,” and it worked out nicely because somehow I managed to forget my “Something Borrowed.” Things just have a way of working out!

Our officiant was my brother-in-law, Jake. He and my sister, Kinsey, have such a wonderful example of a Godly marriage — we look to them for guidance, always. He sent us questions that were kept secret until the ceremony. It was so special; we laughed, we cried, we were inspired by the love that was all around us! Kyle and I both want Christ to be the center of our marriage. Using branches from trees in my parents’ backyard, a special branch cross was made to represent just that. My parents and I had a nice afternoon making this one of a kind piece for our ceremony.

Townsend Catering is simply the best and they made everything happen. We worked together over several months to come up with a custom menu for our special day and it was perfect. They incorporated all of our favorite things and helped me surprise Kyle with his all time favorite, wings! He was so surprised and loved it. They cover every detail and made sure our guests were always taken care of. The staff was so friendly and helpful I felt like they were family.

Live Music for the reception was a must, and after much research the decision was made to hire EMERGE! That was one of the best decisions! I love to dance (Kyle, not so much), but much to my shock Kyle was out there getting’ down. It was one of the best memories of our wedding. Vernon and his team made sure that everyone (and I mean everyone) was on their feet and moving to the music. Rosemary heard a new sound that night and according to guests and venders, this is a sound that needs to be around more!

Details are everything to me and our wedding was full of them. We were all about DIY! Here is the scoop on all the little things that made our day so special and one of a kind…
-My talented Mema Faye was the artist behind the wonderful Rosemary Beach Town Hall sketch. The original was framed and used at the wedding. Prints were made and given to guests in their welcome bags.
-My Mema Joy baked 750 sugar cookies that were used as favors for guests as they left the wedding. We stuffed the boxes with cookies and then put in burlap totes for a quick grab on the way out.
-The bouquets and boutonnieres were designed and created by my mother. I love succulents and wanted them used throughout the wedding so my mother and I started purchasing and growing many varieties to be used on the special day. Rosemary, seed pods, Texas sage, roses, hydrangeas, eucalyptus, wild baby’s breath, dusty miller and variegated greenery were partnered with the succulents to bring just the right combinations. The succulents were all saved and continue to be reminders of the special day throughout our home.
-Our precious seven weeks new nephew was our Ring Bearer. He needed a special little pillow to house Kyle’s ring and my Great Grandmother’s handkerchief was made for the job. Baby Gray had an important job and boy did he deliver!
-We used photos of us when we were little for the Men’s and Women’s signage. My photo was captured as I was attempting to create just the perfect makeup look! The one of Kyle was my favorite of him as a kid.
-Since flip flops are my shoe of choice, we placed flip flops in old wooden crates around the dance floor to make sure all the girls were ready to dance the night away in comfort.
-Hand-stamped hankies were handed out to our guests as they arrived at the ceremony. They were displayed at the front of the Town Hall in old suitcases with the hand-painted barn board sign “In Case of a Tear.”
-For our guest book, guests signed in on pages of a Rosemary Beach book that tells the history and unique facts about the wonderful town of Rosemary. We now use this special reminder as a coffee table book and look through it often to remember how truly special Rosemary is to us.
-Stationery: I love typography and design so I wanted to create all of our stationery and invitations myself. I designed everything on my handy-dandy Mac and had them printed at our local print shop in town. We used the same K+K logo for all things wedding and really love how everything turned out.
-Kyle and I are the proud parents of two droopy, slobbery basset hounds, Piper and Otis. I would have preferred that they were there with us, but since that wasn’t an option for us we had them with us in spirit. On my bouquet was a blue dog tag with their names engraved on one side and our wedding date on the other.
-Custom Corn Hole Boards were painted and created by myself, Brennon and Kamille. My mother made custom corn hole bags with our logo on them as well. She is something else! My family is truly amazing and helped make everything happen for us. We could not have done it without them.
-We had a special table just for us with “Mr. and Mrs.” signs made with old barn boards. Even though we spent very little time sitting it was so nice to have a place to sit as husband and wife and take it all in. It was all so perfect for us.
-My soon-to-be-brother-in-law, Brennon Martin helped us with our music selections. He’s extremely talented and my go-to-music man! He played the guitar as guests were seated and sang a solo during the ceremony. The song always brings tears to my eyes, “I Will Not Take My Love Away,” by Matt Wertz.

Orlando, Florida Wedding at Cypress Grove Estate House from Amalie Orrange Photography

One thing we know for certain: Amalie Orrange Photography really knows how to take a pretty picture. Pretty pictures filled to the brim with the loveliest of details and the sweetest smiles you will ever see.  But that’s kind of how it goes when you happen to be an oh-so-talented photog whose clients are some of the cutest and most talented bunch of bride and grooms we’ve ever had the privilege to virtually meet.  And when those aforementioned clients throw a wedding featuring fab DIY details and the loveliest of cakes from The Sugar Suite? It’s what we call an uber-awesome Monday.  See it all in the full gallery.

From Amalie Orrange PhotographyLaurin & Katie got married at the gorgeous Cypress Grove Estate House in Orlando. This is a beautiful plantation style venue with a true Southern charm. Katie had about 20 friends and family setting up all of the cute DIY details that she had made and collected. There was a touches of pink everywhere from the gorgeous peonies, the candy bar and the darling flower girl’s tulle dress.

From the Bride… Laurin was a DJ out one night at local club, I was on the other side club with a friend. He came up next to me to order a drink. He tried to talk to me and turned around. Who would have know we would run into each other again a month later at an event. We ended up talking and I gave him my number, and the rest is history.

One night, I came home from work and opened the front door to rose petals everywhere and our song blaring. There was a glass of red wine waiting and petals leading to the backyard. He was sitting with our dog, Oliver (who was in our wedding). He had poured a glass of wine for me, had macaroons, and a sweet card. Once he gave his speech he gave me the ring, and I said yes! Then Laurin got our salad bowl filled with ice and champagne out from the bushes. So sweet!

Port Royal Wedding from Margaret Events + Trenholm Photography

I am obsessed with this wedding. First, I fell in love with this Bride’s Monique Lhuillier stunner of a gown. And then? Well, then I just fell head over heels with every thing else in this vintage yet elegant piece of wedding perfection. So perfect in fact, I want to reach through my computer screen and hug Margaret Events for bringing us such a beauty. It’s simply beyond from the first image snapped up by Trenholm Photography to the last, and it’s all sitting pretty right here.

From Margaret... Jena and Brad’s wedding was an absolute dream. It was a lavish event combining ageless vintage and elegant modern touches with ease. The entire affair took place on the Bride’s Grandfather’s private Port Royal estate. The Groom and his Groomsmen readied themselves in the Guesthouse and the Bride and her attendants in the main house, all overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Being married in her Grandfather’s home was just the beginning of the small and intimate details that made this day so special.

The ceremony took place on a small island in the center of the property accessible only by an ornate red bridge. The entire wedding party crossed the bridge to stand under a beautiful archway built between two trees utilizing honeysuckle and grape vine with blush, white and green clusters and garlands of hydrangea, roses, orchids, astilbe, ranunculus with a beautiful crystal chandelier in the middle. The guests sat on farm chairs and benches interspersed with vintage wing backed chairs, assuring comfort for older family members during the exchanging of the vows. All watched from the shore under flowing fabric canopies holding delicate lace parasols and waving lace fans to keep cool and shade the sun.

The cocktail hour had the guests moving to the north side of the property where musicians played in the teahouse overlooking the koi ponds and aviaries. Games such as croquet, horseshoes and customized corn hole were played as the couples’ 165 guests watched the sun set over the Gulf and sipped signature drinks called ‘2200’created and named by Jena’s attendants at her bridal shower.

As dinner bells chimed, guests made their way to a 50′ by 120′ clear-sided tent complete with twelve crystal chandeliers to have an amazing meal served–  and dance the night away to a 9-piece band. Jena and Brad were very specific about the tables not all looking the same. They had 3 acrylic kings tables with paloma lace runners, half of the round tables had tulle underlay with ivory matte satin overlays and the other half of the round tables had ivory matte satin underlay with paloma lace overlays. Each setting had a Riedel crystal charger with a round menu underneath so the guests could read the menu after each course was cleared. On top of the charger was a customized place card containing a message from the bride and groom that they had made a donation in their guest’s honor to either St. Jude’s if the guest was from the USA or to POGO if the guest was from Canada. The centerpieces had crystal candelabras or candlesticks with ivory, blush and white flowers around Manzanita branches with draping pearls.

To add to the special touches the couple arranged for a sitting area outside of the tent filled with overstuffed couches and vintage wing back chairs where guests could spend time in a photo booth creating video messages to the bride and groom, or sit in comfort as they had custom cigars rolled by artisan’s hands complete with personalized wrappers.

Concern for their guests as they were leaving was evident as Jena and Brad offered “one for the road” with personalized mini bottles of tequila as favors and custom “hangover recovery kits”. Jena and Brad were the last to leave the property, hanging on and cherishing every last moment of their dream wedding.

From the Bride… The location and setting of our “somewhat” destination wedding truly brought our two worlds together, which had been a common denominator throughout our entire relationship. Brad and I had been living in Canada (where I am from) for the last four years, but before I dragged this Floridian to Canada, we met in Florida where I had been attending university. So, when we got engaged, it felt natural for us to have our wedding in Florida, and when my grandfather offered for us to be married at his estate in Naples we both felt like we were getting married “at home”. We were overwhelmed by the love of our family and friends who flew in from four countries and many states to share in our big day.

Being blessed with the beautiful scenery and landscape of my grandfather’s grounds allowed my vision to come alive; a vision of soft vintage elegance, with a modern twist. We were able to put a personal twist on so many traditional elements of a wedding ceremony, by having our ceremony on an island with guests looking on from across the pond, while Anna Wilson’s soulful voice sang, “Can I walk with you.” I entered from my secret doorway in my blush pink wedding dress, holding my bouquet embellished with my grandmother’s wedding necklace and brooches, my father walked me down the path, leading to the bridge, where Brad met us halfway.

While Brad and I snuck off to the pier to take photos, our guests enjoyed the Anna Wilson trio, played corn hole and ate designer donuts, while sipping on our completely personal and customized signature drink, which was created and named– 2200 (to signify the address of our wedding) by four close family and friends at my bridal shower.

It was so important for us to be able to turn our perfect day into a memorable event for all our family and friends and with the countless hours of assistance from our wedding planner, Margaret, I think my incessant need for detail paid off! Every element of our reception tent overlooking the Gulf of Mexico captured the vintage elegance I had envisioned. I kept referring to the elements as works of art and each vendor we used took my vision and words to heart and created just that; from the lace and pearl detail work on the cake, the specific placement of each flower and strand of pearls in the centerpieces to my favorite of all, the orchids encircling the chandeliers. Having the tent walls up created a welcoming outdoor space with a lounge filled with vintage furniture where guests could relax and smoke a hand rolled cigar, while still being able to enjoy the music by CTO High Voltage. Sarasota Wedding from Fabulously Chic Weddings + Trenholm Photo

One combo I can never get enough of?  Formal + fun.  Just those two words together conjure up images of elegant brides dancing the night away with their dapper grooms.  It’s a wedding fusion that never fails to deliver the pretty and today’s shining example is this downright breathtaking Sarasota affair from Fabulously Chic Weddings, aka, a drop-dead gorgeous mix of sophisticated details and heartwarming moments, all wrapped up in mesmerizing images from Trenholm Photo.  See it all unfold in the full gallery.

Oh, and we’re not done yet.  Check out this incredible film from Voila Cinematic.  It’s beyond amazing.

From the Bride… When we were first thinking about how we wanted our wedding to look and feel like, Brad simply requested the end scene from the movie “Meet Joe Black.” I knew at that point it had to be formal and it had to have an air of opulence. Stylistically we both love vintage and refurbished items, so after finding the Powel Crosley Estate we knew it was the perfect match. The Powel Crosley Estate really had everything we were looking for: the winding staircases, magnificent fireplaces, fabulous wood beams that spanned across the ceilings, and the gorgeous and expansive private views of Sarasota Bay. Having grown up with religious backgrounds we knew our ceremony had to be in a church. We do have a local church that we attend, but knew with our guest count it would be too large. So we started to hunt for a quaint small church that we could have our ceremony in. With the original wood floors and white pews, the adorable red doors, and the quintessential little white church feel, the Crocker Memorial Church quickly became our choice. Being local, we love how we were able to have two Sarasota landmarks as our venues.

As far as the aesthetics went for our wedding, we wanted to add to the romance of the venues. At the Crocker Memorial Church, we went with simplicity. We didn’t want to distract from the rich history that we loved about it. By simply adding fabric, in a couple of textures and shades, crystals to reflect the light, and restored pieces of wood picked up from a local salvage yard, to a backdrop, we were able to add to the church’s overall feel without taking away from its history. We also had two large vases with all white flowers to add to the romantic feel.

At the Powel Crosley Estate, we thought the lighting had to be perfect to really set the mood. What a better way than with candles, candles, and more candles. We used an assortment of ivory candles in fluctuating sizes and in varying containers. We also had large silver candelabras and medium sized matte black candle sticks to hold candles as well. We put a chandelier and café bulb lighting over the dance floor to continue the mood outside when dancing. There were two long tables to accommodate the sixty guests, adding to that intimate feel we were trying to capture. The tables had beautiful rosette textured linens in a dark champagne color to give the angular tables some body and texture. The floral arrangements, neutral in color with mostly white and pale peach soft and structured flowers, were in a variety of non-matching clear and mercury glass vases. The overall color scheme was neutral shades with metallic and black accents.

Other personal touches included the guest place cards. I created little formal characters of each guest in attendance with their name attached. These served as double duty being that they also helped the servers to know which guest ordered which entree (white name card being fish and black name card being beef). We also had our new monogram placed on a Victorian styled mirror that was hung above the fireplace to display our new married title. We also wanted a way to incorporate our family members who were no longer with us. We accomplished this by having black and white photos put in metallic and mirrored frames above us on the fireplace mantel. The groomsmen had personalized hometown maps put into their cufflinks. Seeing that all the groomsmen grew up in the same hometown as Brad, it was a way to personalize it in a meaningful and fashionable manner.

We also wanted to have a way to incorporate our Great Dane into our wedding without have to deal with his actual unpredictability, so we added small touches of him throughout. The first one being in the favors I created. I drew a picture of our dog and had a Letterpress company imprint the image onto coasters for the guests to take home. We also made a donation in our guests honor to the Great Dane Rescue Society. Our cake included our dog with a miniature replica sticking out from underneath the ruffles of the bottom tier. Our wedding day really was everything we could have hoped for. After everything was said and done, we finally have been able to decide on what our overall wedding theme should be called—Formal and Fun!
