Color-Filled London Engagement of Blogger Bright Bazaar

If you are a follower of blogger extraordinaire, Will Taylor of Bright Bazaar, then you know he fully embraces a life filled with color. The brighter and more cheerful the better. And his engagement session to his love is no exception to that colorful rule. Captured by Jean- Laurent Gaudy, this shoot outside of London is a little glimpse inside the beautiful world of Will and Toby. Click here for the full gallery.

From Jean-Laurent Gaudy PhotographyThis couple is one of the reason why I love my job so much. Will & Toby live near London. They are the sweetest, deeply in love, always smiling. Their engagement session was therefore so natural. I simply spent an afternoon with them capturing who they are with no artifacts.

English Countryside Wedding Film

Check this out: the Mini Cooper at 00:45, the groom built himself.  Now that’s a way to show your love. If that’s not cute enough, the voiceover is a love letter he wrote to his bride. I watch a lot of these, but something about this got to me. Be Authentic Photography‘s keen camerawork certainly helped, but I think it’s the love part. So make sure you have someone close by to hug and enjoy the film!

From Be Authentic PhotographyEvery once in a while, as photographer/film makers, you are given the opportunity to capture an amazing story. Richard and Stephanie’s wedding was that opportunity. They have an amazing love story. Rich in his effort to bring Stephanie’s dreams to life endeavored to hand build a vintage mini car for their wedding so he could drive her away in it. He did just that and you can see it all right here. Their story is incredible and worth telling and we had that opportunity.

It was not mystery this would be a stunning wedding. Set in the lush green land and historic area of West Sussex England, it provided for a breathtaking vintage wedding. The ceremony took place in a beautiful small traditional English church complete with bells ringing and all.

Later the beautiful couple escaped to the reception located in a beautiful large barn on a private farm that had been renovated to host special events. Its deep rich old oak beams and large wooden doors set the tone for a memorable evening filled with cake cutting, speeches, dancing, and an incredible sparklers exit that was truly one of a kind. It’s the kind of wedding that will not be easily forgotten.

Seaside Cornwall, UK Wedding

I have this pipe dream of moving to the UK, settling in a quiet seaside town and having each and every day look a little something like this. So today, m’dears, I’m fully immersing myself in this Cornwall wedding snapped by Sarah Falugo. It’s everything you’d expect from an English “I do” with sweeping views that’ll soothe your soul. Dive in right here.

From Sarah Falugo… Kellie and Richard couldn’t have chosen a better location, or day for their fun-filled seaside wedding in Cornwall. Polhawn Fort has a peaceful history and is now used for exclusive hire for private parties and weddings. It has it’s own private beach, large lawns over-looking Whitsand Bay and tonnes of atmosphere inside the cavernous walls.

Richard and Kellie spent many months planning the wedding down to the finest details. The outdoor ceremony was accompanied by a string quartet. After the ‘i dos’ they enjoyed canapes and lawn games in the sun and took a walk on the beach. This Cornish wedding was laid back and fun from start to finish.

Kellie couldn’t decide which shoes she liked best so decided to get four pairs! The dress was a bespoke piece from Stephanie Allin and the bridesmaids wore a simple blue Dessy number. Everything was offset perfectly with the gorgeous flowers from Forbesfield.

At sunset Kellie and Richard slipped away with their photographer, Sarah Falugo for a few shots in a golden wheat field … sometimes those photo opportunities are too good to miss! The 8-piece funk band, Freshly Squeezed kicked the evening party into gear and by all accounts the celebrations carried on until the wee small hours!

English Garden Wedding Inspiration

Go ahead and let your imagination wander here, folks. This dreamy photo shoot from Maria De Faci Photography takes you straight to a beautiful afternoon wedding on the Thames with children laughing, yellow wellies, old bikes, desserts from Cakes by Robin, and an abundance of Bergdorf’s flowers everywhere. For more whimsy, make sure to check out the full gallery here.

From Maria De Faci PhotographyThis shoot of rustic, bohemian and natural wedding inspiration was born on the benches of the river Thames where the air is fresh, herbs are splendid and the river is creating a soft glow around all objects by beautifully reflecting and diffusing sunlight.

Our idea was to create a unique blend of natural elements like moss, leaves and flowers with lightweight naked Victoria sponges, innocent beauty of a young bride, kids and all shades of the rich foliage of English gardens.

We set up a tea table for two under a tree by the river on a vintage tablecloth (family heirloom of Katja Berg) , using some beautiful china and cakes, all generously decorated by fruits and flowers, and a big moss tree – a signature decoration detail by our florist Katja.

A retro bike, an umbrella and a pair of wellies in retro yellow colour added to the whole mise-en-scène the character of the English countryside and the refreshing feel of the weather outside.

Our model wore rich flower crown and a loose matching bouquet all in warm pale palette. Flower style and inspiration is by Katja from Bergdorf’s, she is a very talented Danish florist with a distinctive chic rustic style. We used vintage tablecloths, vases and china, vintage veils, handmade designer hair accessories, and the garden of a famous London boutique hotel.

Glamorous Pink English Wedding

The very second we got our hands on Charlotte Balbier’s English manor nuptials, we knew we were sitting on gold. As one of Britain’s biggest names in bridal design, there was no question her own wedding would be perfect, but the photos from Polly Alexandre…they’re basically one gasping moment after another. Not to mention the work of Red Floral ArchitectureCakes By Kristhanthi, and so many more. Get ready to squeal, because this is a day is straight from the storybooks.

And don’t dare miss the day on film from the fabulous, Silk Weddings!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/82449869 600 338]

From Polly Alexandre… Charlotte Balbier celebrates her 10th year as a leading British bridal designer, and it’s not the only reason it’s one of the most exciting times in her life….this same year she also married her own true love Teddy, and after creating dreams for thousands of other brides on their big day, Charlotte got to create her own dream wedding. From a family of bridal designers, Charlotte created a wedding that is the very essence of her brand, a feminine yet glamorous vision, filled with beautiful details. Charlotte & Teddy are truly two peas in a pod, a perfect match and it was truly amazing to see them become husband and wife.

From the Bride… Just over 3 years ago I met my now husband Teddy and after a whirlwind romance he proposed just 6 months after meeting. From the moment we got engaged together we planned our dream wedding day as we both wanted it to be a celebration of our love and a day both our guests and ourselves would never forget.

Being a bridal designer I am already exposed to all the beautiful and vast variety of options, styles and looks you can have for your wedding and I did already have in mind what style I wanted for our wedding. My vision was glamorous, feminine with a timeless elegance, I adore pink and gold shades so I knew this had to me my colour palette. Teddy also had some set ideas, but he was more about the entertainment side of affairs, his main objective was to ensure all our guests had fun.

Over my career I have been lucky enough to work with some of the most respected and well known suppliers in the industry so choosing who I wanted on board was easy. We chose the idyllic iscoyd park set on the Cheshire/Welsh boarders that provided the most stunning back drop for our beautiful day. What I loved about Iscoyd park was not only is it beautiful and stylish with it’s interiors designed by Suzy Hoodles but the team at Iscoyd are amazing too. We chose to get married at the local church just a 5 minute drive from Iscoyd, what I love about both Iscoyd and the church is the history behind them both, so romantic, beautiful and interesting.

I very much wanted my bridal party to feel special and worked closely with each bridesmaid (all 8 of them) to design and create bespoke gowns to suit their style and personality, I styled all the gowns with lace clutch bags, heels and vintage cuffs with a glamorous marabou fur wrap. I wanted them to look and feel Red carpet ready and they certainly did, so fabulous. The 2 little flower girls also had bespoke dresses and looked adorable and not forgetting the boys who all had Navy Blue suits styled with rich Brown leather accessories and striped ties. Teddy wore a customised Hugo Boss suit and tie, so dapper.

When turning my attentions to designing my own gown style I opted for 2 gowns and styled them both with heels and gorgeous accessories. My day gown was a silk organza full ball gown skirt with a deep French lace trim. Fitted to the natural waist with a sash and flower detail. Bodice was fitted and boned with a sheer tulle neckline and ¾ sleeves. The train was a cathedral length with diamante buttons all the way down. Zip fastening and an oversized hand tied bow. The gown was all ivory and I styled it with a long silk veil, Freya Rose heels and a vintage clutch bag.
For the evening I changed into a small A line skirt with godet fit and flair. A exquisite French lace fabric with a small spot tulle over a soft Champagne satin. Fitted to the natural waist with a pearl and diamante beaded belt detail. The gown was completed with a cap sleeve, Jimmy Choo metallic heels and a pearl and diamante clutch.

With Teddy’s love for music and entertainment we had 4 sets of live entertainment throughout the day, gypsy style bands, magicians, classic disco DJ’s and even the world famous DJ legend Graeme Park played a set…. this was amazing. Our guests danced until the early hours.

We both have lasting memory’s from our wedding day but the one we both agree is most special to us is the 1st moment we saw each other as I entered the church, I gave Teddy a little wave and smile and he beamed back and this was a beautiful moment. Our wedding day was magical, romantic, fun, beautiful and perfect.

English Country Manor Wedding Shoot

Everything about this shoot captured by Victoria Phipps and styled by Sarah Garrod is my dream. The Justin Alexander gown, the stunning florals from Emma Fawcett-Eustace, the elegant stationery from the Project Pretty – it’s all so perfectly elegant and timeless I could cry. So it goes without saying I’ll be spending a large amount of time today devouring each gorgeous image sitting in this gallery.

From Victoria PhippsThe theme was ‘early 20th century english glamour’ and we tried to create a bit of a story around two strangers coming together in marriage. The models had never met before, so they appreciated the irony!

We shot at Iscoyd Park, which is a beautiful and intimate grade II listed country house in Shropshire, England. One of the main reasons we chose this location was because of the elegant reception rooms and finely decorated bedrooms, all with tall georgian windows giving an abundance of natural light. The perfect setting for an intimate wedding. The grounds of Iscoyd Park are delightful and fortunately the light was perfect!

We dressed a long slim table in the main reception room with a trio of tall floral centrepieces. The bright pink roses and red winter berries were coupled with wintry foliage resulting in a pleasing mix of warm and cool tones. The fabulous black and white wedding stationery was designed by Project Pretty.

We created two different looks for the bride, with two beautiful Justin Alexander dresses and different headpieces & hairstyles. The groom wore classic black tie.

Classic English Wedding at the Bodleian Library

While she originally had her sights set on a NYC rooftop wedding, it was the beauty of Oxford, England that sent this bride’s wedding plans for a complete and total loop. But with its stunning architecture and old-world charm, it’s all too easy to see why. The fabulous Stephanie Swann captured the day from start to finish you can click right here for sooooo much more!

From the Bride… With half our guests coming from a different country, we wanted our wedding to be special. NYC was the obvious choice for me being American and having lived there for 10 years. I had images of a rooftop reception with skyline views and as we visited locations across London, none seemed to stack up to my NYC dream.

Then we went to Oxford, my husband’s hometown. I was completely blown away at how incredibly beautiful the city is, and its ability to transport you through time to a place long past with its architecture and gardens. The Bodleian Library was nestled in the middle of it all, one of the oldest in Europe, with some of the most stunning architecture I have seen. It only took a minute to decide this was where we wanted to celebrate with our closest friends and family.

It was important to us to accentuate the beauty of the city so we chose a classic and timeless color palette including grey, pale yellow and creams that would compliment the surrounding architecture. Keeping with British tradition, the gentlemen wore morning suits and we held a champagne only reception (cocktail hour). But it was also important that we ensured we had some elements of New York represented. I found my dress in NY and my parents had images of vintage New York and London maps made into bookmarks for each guest.

We wanted an outdoor element to our wedding and since this can be tough in the UK, we opted to risk for a reception in the courtyard of the library before heading in for the wedding breakfast. It paid off and we enjoyed the sunshine to the sounds of a jazz trio our friends found performing in a local pub after photos in the gardens of one of the local colleges.

Including our family in our creative process was very important. Chris and I designed the stationary ourselves, my father and I constructed each program, our brother-in-law designed and made our gorgeous wedding cake and Chris’s parents and sister helped source and cover the books used as part of the table centerpieces. Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing – we live in London, this is our home and part of who we are. I’m so glad we got to share our big day with our closets friends and family in such a special, beautiful place.

What advice could I give to future brides? Don’t be afraid to consider something not in your plan. The choices I made, from the location to my dress were so different from what I thought I originally wanted and I wouldn’t change them for the world. Be open to ideas and go with your heart! Get creative and include a little DIY no matter your budget – it’s nice to have everything done for you, but those special touches make the day extra special and include your friends and family in one of the important days of your life.

If your budget allows, I would also highly recommend a day-of coordinator. Our venue was very strict as it’s open to public and without the team we would have been at a loss. Not having to worry about anything the day of made my experience with the bridesmaids and mother in the morning so much more relaxing.

Bride Dons Floral Dress in Surrey Wedding

As if your Spring Fever weren’t at an all time high after the winter we’ve had, we’re throwing a beautiful garden wedding your way, and the bride is wearing a dress made of flowers (!!!) from Zita Elze. Believe me when I say you’re not going to want to miss a minute of this beautiful gallery from Mister Phill, and as a sweet treat for you, we’ll be back later today with a closer look at that beautiful gown!

From Mister Phill… Leanne & Ben’s English Summer wedding day traversed and encompassed rustic natural charm combined with old Hollywood style elegance and modern twists that made their day truly their own, truly one to remember; a day rich in fantastic design from beginning to end and populated by fantastic people.

The visual show-stopper of the wedding, it must be said, was Leanne’s breathtaking first wedding dress of the day – yes, she had two dresses – an astounding fresh flower and berry bodice combined with a flowing train made of Stipa grass, designed by Zita Elze. Worn by Leanne for the ceremony at St. Michael’s Church in Betchworth, Surrey, the dress was a complete surprise for all of the assembled guests and represented the first ever occasion on which a bride had worn one of Zita’s creations on her wedding day.

As Ben awaited his bride at the end of an aisle arrayed down each side with tea lights, pots of straw-light Stipa and dark green grasses interspersed with daisies (all arranged by Zita), and adorned with hand cut paper butterflies by Florrie Ann Thomas, Leanne entered the church through an entrance arched with grasses and flowers designed to echo her dress, accompanied by rustic wooden hearts and dangling bottled flowers. The wedding rings too were delivered on a wooden heart to match!

Ben wore a grey Armani suit and he and his groomsmen sported boutonnière designed to match Leanne’s bodice. Leanne’s bridesmaids wore slate gowns from Twobirds and held bouquets of yellow Aram lilies and Stipa grass.

After the ceremony, the newly-weds joined their guests at Leanne’s family home for the reception. An architecturally stunning stretch tent supplied by The Stretch Tent Company accommodated the wedding breakfast and evening party, providing shade from the English summer heat whilst capturing cool breezes through its open sides (it also served well in keeping everyone sheltered from a passing British summer storm!)

The tent was decorated with a clean, modern air to it, crisp white linens accompanied by silver dinnerware, adorned with tealights, flowers and bunches of gooseberries on the top table to extend and interweave the natural organic flavor of the afternoon’s ceremony into the evening’s celebrations. The open sided construction of the tent allowed the party to extend into the family garden where guests could relax on beanbags and in rattan chairs.

Between ceremony and reception, Leanne changed into her second dress of the day, an utterly stunning, figure hugging Old Hollywood style Pronovias gown. Ben’s expression of amazement and admiration, as he watched Leanne descend the stairs in this second outfit, was priceless!

The meal served at the wedding breakfast was of Leanne & Ben’s design, centered around a particular shared enjoyment of eating at Nandos. The culinary theme was commensurately interpreted, created and delivered by Purple Grape Catering. Baked beans with toasted soldiers, fish fingers with tartar sauce and macaroni and cheese pots served as appetizers and were followed by chicken breast marinated in Peri-Peri sauce and accompanied by chips, crunchy coleslaw, spicy rice and macho peas for the main course (with a vegetarian option of grilled Halloumi and mushrooms). The main course elements were delivered in large bowls to each table to enhance the sharing experience of the day. A lottery ticket was placed in a teacup for each guest to chance their fortune that weekend. Chocolate and raspberry pots, Eton Mess, Crème Brûlée topped with popping candy, Tiramisu and chilled rice pudding topped with fresh fruit compote were offered on a specially set aside table as a dessert selection for each guest to choose which took their fancy.

A beautiful wedding cake by Ceri Olfoson was designed to complement in style Leanne’s first wedding dress of the day.

The day was topped off with a resounding evening party that saw guests dancing into the night.

Romantic British Wedding at Brocket Hall

“Epitomizes English glamour and elegance” is guaranteed to pull me in every single time, and this time, I was floored. Blown away by the beauty that is this wedding from Anushe Low. The shoes, the gown, that warm, beautiful light, it’s like someone bottled up my dreams and gave me the best present ever… in the form of a highlight film from reellovefilms!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/84408592 600 338]

From Reellovefilms… Well, what a wedding this was! Wall to wall beautiful… Susie and Stuart were married at the elegant and lovely Brocket Hall, UK, and it was clear right from the start that they had made a huge effort on their wedding….it looked completely amazing. Everything from the flowers by Jamie Aston, Susie’s Jenny Packham dress and Jimmy Choo shoes and Stuarts dapper Stuart Lamprell suit had been chosen to compliment the elegant, timeless and beautiful surroundings…it really was a good looking day! Brocket Hall epitomises English glamour and elegance; frescos on the ceilings, gilded details, lawns and lakes…serene.

Susie had an amazing team getting her get ready, not that she needs much help…with Severin Hubert on hair and Sarah Brock on make up, and what a job they did. Lots of music accompanied the day with the amazing Steve Christie on Piano and the equally amazing Matt Maurice kicking the evening party off….complete with Xylobands!

As well as this wedding just looking so beautiful, there was more to it than that…Stuart and Susie are an incredibly warm, happy, fun, caring and genuine couple, who made our job filming them so easy on the day. They were surrounded by so many people who thought the world of them and you could just feel the happiness on the day. This is what made the wedding truly a great one…we loved every minute and wish you both so much happiness in your future together xx

Coastal England Wedding Inspiration

I am going to blame all my day dreaming today on this stunning shoot from Sarah Falugo. Because as the snow is falling outside my window for the millionth time this winter, getting lost in these lovely images just seems like the best way to spend the day. It’s dreamy to say the very least (the florals from The Blue Carrot have my heart), and you can join my little day dreaming party right here.

From Sarah FalugoThis coastal shoot took place on a summer morning on the beautiful north coast of Cornwall in England. With soft rolling surf and a light layer of cloud I was able to capture the subtleties of Susanne Hatwood’s stunning floral designs against my favourite ocean backdrops.

With proteas, coral charm peonies and succulents, the vibrant floral design and simple details provide inspiration for a laid back beach wedding.

Our aim was to offer inspiration for a less obvious beach wedding style. We nod to our coastal influences with the inclusion of nautical stripes and glass lanterns. The stationery design combines beautiful seascapes with a modern geometric element and includes a nautical compass which is mirrored in our star crown and cake topper.

The dresses are simple high street dresses for the laid back bride. The stylish jewelry from Körp offers an urban contrast to the rural landscape. The table is set up as a stylish picnic on wooden crates with blue glasses, striped napkins and diamond shaped plates.

The over-sized bouquet was designed in an ombre style – as you turn it around it slowly takes on a new color palette depending on your desired look.

Multi-Cultural Wedding at London Mandarin Oriental Hotel

It’s not every day a cultural beauty like this comes our way. But this morning, m’dears, we’re diving into one completely bespoke, impeccably planned affair celebrating what the joining of two families is truly all about. One part Jewish and one part Hindu, it’s a beautiful nod to both the bride and groom’s heritage, and you can see the love affair unfold through Aneta MAK’s lens right over here.

From the Bride & Groom… I think most couples want their wedding to be a true reflection of themselves. Dan and I were no different in this respect, we wanted our wedding to showcase our passion for food and how we love to throw a good party, whilst also reflecting both our Indian and Jewish heritages.

Coordinating the religious ceremony was the most difficult aspect for us. We decided we wanted to have a joint religious ceremony rather than two separate Indian and Jewish weddings as we felt this would not be a true reflection of our future HinJew household, where both religions would be intertwined.

Our first task of finding a Hindu priest and a Rabbi who would be happy to work together was very difficult in itself. We then had to build our own wedding ceremony from Jewish and Hindu rituals. This was a political minefield to navigate: pleasing families, the priests as well as ourselves sometimes seemed impossible! We got there in the end however, and the result was a ceremony which incorporated both our cultures, families, and was completely bespoke to us.

Style wise I wanted to keep it simple, the Mandarin Oriental is a beautiful venue and so I opted for classic white, cream and buttermilk flowers. The table decorations had cascading orchids to add another dimension and soften the overall look. I didn’t have a colour scheme as I wanted the overall appearance to be natural and not too over stylised. Plus I had heard horror stories of brides being up all night ordering chair cover samples from China to ensure they were the same shade of duck egg blue as their bridesmaids dresses! I wanted to avoid slipping into this kind of bridezilla stress! The result was green bridesmaids dresses (they chose colour and outfits themselves), pink and grey straws, and neutral flowers.

My favourite detail or touch were the personalised flags we had commissioned. These were life size photos of us hanging over Knightsbridge at the entrance to our wedding. In the future if we buy a house it must have two flag poles so we can hang them once more!

TIP: Make freezable favours so they can be made well in advance and so are not a last minute chore. We made Florentines, white chocolate with lemon and lime and a dark chocolate and peanut variety. By all accounts they were yummy but having made 300+ I am now thoroughly sick of them.

Best part of the day was the party, Indian and Jewish dancing followed by some old school classics and of course a garage set! It was crazy! At the end of the night we were on such a high, we went to our room and ordered whiskey and room service and reflected on the day together.

My advice for anyone planning a wedding is to try and not get too bogged down in the details and to focus on what really matters to you. We had a brilliant day but we acknowledge it’s hard to take it all in at the time. As my husband says, the prominence of that one day increases with every day that passes. It was the best day of our lives, we know it now but we will know it even more in 50yrs time.

Traditional English Wedding at Allerton Castle

If you know me even a little bit, you know that title caught my eye and stole my heart. A true Anglophile, the traditional English wedding is my ultimate weakness. Especially when it’s this beautiful and when JoPhoto was there to capture every beautiful moment!

From the photographer… On October 5, 2013, we photographed Morven and Steve’s English wedding in York, England. The ceremony was at the York Minster, and the reception was at Allerton Castle.

To get married in the York Minster, couples must receive a special license from the Archbishop of Canterbury. Morven’s family obtained this license because her father, Jim (who was recognized by Queen Elizabeth II for his contributions to the community and disabled people) and mother, Gill, are members of the Minster Community and the family had worshiped regularly at the Minster for many years.

The day began at the bride’s family’s home in a small village called Hessay. Rather than numbers on the houses, her family’s home is simply named “Copperfield.” Each house in the village has a name instead of a number.

The bridesmaid’s hairpieces with cream feathers and broaches were hand made, and the teal green bridesmaids dresses complimented the cascading pink, ivory, and green bouquets. Photos of the bride with her bridesmaids were taken in her father’s orchard in the back yard of their home.

Morven and Steve’s ceremony at the York Minster was a grand event. All the ladies wore hats, and the wedding guests sat in the choir area. Morven’s mother’s navy blue hat was especially large, with white decoration on top! The York Minster was built in the 600s and is the seat of the Archbishop of York, the second-highest office of the Church of England.

After the wedding ceremony, Morven and Steve exited the York Minster and were greeted by hundreds of tourists and onlookers. We included a few photos of the crowd outside the minster. Guests were asking if they were famous, or royalty! We had to keep the crowd back from the couple for photos outside the York Minster.

Traveling from the minster to Allerton Castle, guests rode in vintage 1959 double-decker black and ivory buses. Allerton Castle is a 19th century gothic house with gardens and sheep grazing on the front lawn. The Great Hall certainly lives up to its name, with a gorgeous grand staircase and an almost 80-foot ceiling. Dinner was served in the stunning blue and white ballroom, and portraits were taken in the lavish drawing room. We had never seen such a gorgeous castle!

Toasts were much different than those we have experienced in Tennessee. Each speech was 20-30 minutes long, and the bride’s father’s speech was especially entertaining. At the end of his speech, he asked all the guests to blow up balloons, and then they all let the air out of the balloons and made funny noises while everyone was laughing!

Later in the evening, the band called “HUGE” entertained everyone with live music, and the groomsmen enjoyed drinks and pool in the Billiard Room.

This was truly a lovely traditional English wedding incorporated with modern inspiration!

Romantic Cotswolds Wedding at Thyme Barn

Wildly romantic and beautifully captured by Belle And Beau Fine Art Photography, this pastel-filled party is seriously making my day today. And it will probably make my day tomorrow too. Because sitting in this gallery are some of the loveliest images I ever did see, and you can see them all right here.

From Belle And Beau Fine Art PhotographyThe theme of this wedding was ‘soft romance’ and it stayed true to the theme throughout the entire day. We were surrounded by soft pinks, peonies and olive and pear trees and lot’s of pretty details! Ali and David were married at the beautiful venue Thyme Barn in the picturesque Cotswolds. (It was the same venue where Kate Moss got married!) The whole wedding party was beautiful, and Ali just exuded grace and beauty all day!

From the Bride…I couldn’t decide whether to go for a figure hugging dress with a beautifully intricate laced back or the dress I chose. Ultimately I knew the dress I chose was ‘the one’, because it made me feel like a bride…I felt like that was how you were supposed to feel when you get married!

I love peonies! However they are not really in season in August, so it was hard to find a florist who could guarantee them! However, Su at Twig could! Again, my main desire was to keep things simple and beautiful. I wanted my bouquet to be white peonies with greenery and the table vases to tie in with my bouquet. The table vases also had a touch of blush pink in them to tie in with the bridesmaid’s dresses. I didn’t have bouquets for the bridesmaids, nor button holes for the men. This was done purposely to ensure the proceedings were a little less formal, and a little more personal. We also had a couple of huge vases filled with gorgeous peony displays, which were at the front of the church for the service, then brought into the barn for the wedding breakfast. I provided Su with a couple of pictures from Pinterest but left the rest to her creative design!

The bridesmaids wore very simple but beautiful dresses in blush pink to tie in with the flowers, stationery, colour theme of white and blush pink. The groomsmen worse Chinos, boat shoes, pale blue shirts, linen waistcoat, rugby tie. The theme for the boys was rugby. They wore the same attire that they would normally wear to a formal rugby event, but I added waistcoats to make it a little more special. They also each wore a different tie – the tie from their rugby club.

David loves Rugby! It therefore was natural for him to wear his rugby attire (obviously not shorts and boots!), as this is what he feels most comfortable in. I think he looks gorgeous when he is dressed in his rugby attire and it reminds me how much I love his commitment and passion for the sport. We wanted our wedding to be relaxed and to reflect us, which David’s attire certainly did.

Our Photographer was Belle and Beau Fine Art Photography. Holly’s style was exactly what I was looking for. Simply beautiful. I knew from looking through Holly’s portfolio that we had very similar taste and therefore she was the perfect choice for our wedding. I wanted our photographs to be natural, simple and just gorgeous. After our engagement shoot, I was sure I had made the right choice. Holly’s approach was also so gentle and laid back that it made having our photos done easy and enjoyable. We also didn’t want to spend hours away from our friends and family during the day, which Holly totally got. Holly was able to get the perfect picture every shot, which meant the time we did spend away from everyone else was short and sweet – with perfect results! Looking at the photos, Holly has captured the day perfectly from beginning to end.

The Kilner Jars had several uses. They were favours, name settings and cocktail jars. Each person had their name on a brown name-tag on the jar in their place at the table. We had a mixologist for cocktails for the evening, so people then used the jars throughout the evening from which to drink their cocktails! Lots of fresh flowers. Outside scattered throughout the courtyard we had large silver lanterns with candles burning throughout the evening. We also had a couple of open log fires burning in fire baskets in the courtyard for guest to roast marshmallows. We also had a ping-pong table for people to play beer pong!

We wanted our Wedding to be a day with friends and family, eating, drinking, dancing and having fun. We had all of our favourite people, things, food, drink, music…our perfect day! Don’t feel pressure to do what people think you ’should’ do. Do what you want!

English Country Wedding at Boconnoc House and Estate

Anyone that knows me knows one thing: I heart all things British.  So a drop-dead gorgeous English countryside wedding at the Boconnoc House And Estate?  Right up my alley.  Especially one as beautiful as this elegant day, with its colorful blooms, stylish attire (hello stunning Jenny Packham gown) and breathtaking gallery of images captured by Sarah Falugo.  See them all right here.

From Sarah Falugo… Boconnoc House and Estate is a quintessentially English wedding venue. The house dates back to 1250 AD and the grounds, complete with deer park and its own church is a hidden gem in the Cornish countryside. Emma and Terence were married in the church on the grounds and then stayed on site with friends and family to have a garden party and slap up meal in the height of the English summer.

Emma wore a stylish Jenny Packham wedding dress. The decorations were a mixture of colored glass bottles and beautiful English roses.

Grayed Jade Sophisticated Garden Wedding Ideas

Last year, Pantone named Grayed Jade one of the leaders in fashion trends and I for one am not over it and this wedding inspiration from Michelle Pierre-Carr is exactly why. Captured by Eddie Judd, it’s everything sweet, elegant, and beautiful – and not to mention that spread from Cakes by Krishanthi. Or the Freya Rose shoes. Or the gaggle of cutie pie kiddos. Really, it’s all amazing, and it’s all right here!

From the designer… Using Pantone’s 2013 colour Grayed Jade (a subtle, hushed green with a gray undertone) we set about creating our ‘Sophisticated Garden’ photo shoot.

Gone are the rustic elements of a garden setting and in comes sophistication, opulence and romance. With crystal candle chandeliers, gold silverware, monograms and natural opulent flowers of Peonies and David Austin roses we combine romance and elegance with the natural outdoors.
And with Succulents as our main themed flower for the reception and bridal party we pay homage to a growing plant trend and the setting we are in whilst adding texture and interest to our floral arrangement.

With children also as our focus on this shoot we take a look at what the bridal party get up to by telling the story of their adventure from coming down the aisle, to them discovering the dessert table with all the treats of Grayed Jade (mint green) to the fun and games they have near the lake and on the long grass, adding the fun element to the sophistication.

From the Bride… We chose our venue because it had so much character. Maunsel House is a 13th century manor house, full of history. It had such an incredible blend of opulence and elegance mixed with the natural and wild feeling of being on a working estate, with animals and beautiful secret gardens – plus the added extra of peacocks roaming everywhere! I loved the idea of an Art Deco feel, but didn’t want it to become too themed, and then we loved the peacocks so much that they become an influence on the design and colours of our entire celebration.

Lisa, (our stationery designer, PaperKnots) used the combination of these tones brilliantly, creating the art-deco style Peacock design that we used throughout our stationery, and then I matched the bridesmaid dresses and the decoration to the teal green and blue colourings.

We wanted our tables named after London underground stops, as we adore living in London, so we gave Lisa the difficult brief of creating an underground tube map in the same design as everything else – she did an incredible job and every guest commented on it. In fact, it’s now framed on the wall of our study at home!

My favourite little touch was the flag that George, the page boy carried down the aisle in front of me, saying ‘Here comes the Bride’. George and Milly, the flower girl, were only 2 and 3, so it could have gone horribly wrong, but they were just gorgeously well behaved on the day and giving George a flag to wave meant he had something fun to do which helped!

Our cake was very kindly made my Paul’s Aunt Marion. We sent a few clippings of simple Art Deco style designs and she did a fantastic job of creating something simple and perfect! Neither me or Paul are big fans of fruit cake so we had the bottom layer as traditional wedding cake and then the other layers were Victoria sponge. As it was so hot on the day we had to try especially hard to keep it cool so that the sponge didn’t collapse! In hindsight, we probably should have gone with fruit cake throughout!

I spent so long looking for my bridesmaid’s dresses, as I had a very clear idea of colour and style, but wanted something just a little different to the norm. So, I was so lucky and happy to find them in Coast. My bridesmaids have very different hair colour and skin tones but the teal green looked beautiful on both of them. Bridesmaid dress shopping was also made harder by the fact that one bridesmaid lives in Thailand and the other gave birth just a few months before the wedding!

I came across the Real Cut Flower Garden online and they were exactly the style of flowers I wanted – natural and slightly wild. Charlie from the garden, is brilliant and did a fab job of picking exactly the right colours and blooms to compliment all of the clothing on the day.

I actually didn’t want a 1920’s style dress, and hadn’t intended to purposefully match it to the overall style of the wedding. In fact I came very close to buying a beautiful Suzanne Neville dress, but as is often the case, I decided to try my Jenny Packham dress as I was leaving the shop. It’s so true that you need to try lots of different designs – I never would have imagined choosing a dress like that, but once I put it on that was it! I loved the cut and shape, and the absolutely amazing detailing.

We were incredibly lucky to get a heatwave on our wedding weekend, so it was 33 degrees on the day, and we were able to get married outside in a civil ceremony. We also had a blessing just with immediate family in a small chapel on the grounds which was a lovely intimate moment.

For the breakfast, we wanted it to be as fun as possible, so we raided the guests’ Facebook photos and used the funniest ones for their namecards, we wrote our own trivia on the back of the menus, and our favours were personalised bottles of Jaegermeister (because we got together on a ski trip!)…with personalised M&Ms for the non-drinkers. Once we’d cut the cake, we all downed the shots to kick off the party!

We were over the moon with our photographs from Charlie @ CKB Photography, they were all shot on film and so beautiful we didn’t stop looking at them for days!

Whimsical London Warehouse Wedding

Leave it to Jodie Chapman to send us one of coolest, chicest weddings that’s ever graced our pages. From Jodie Chapman Sonali and Richard’s wedding took place at the coolest venue in London. MC Motors/Castle Gibson is a warehouse that is usually rented out for television/film productions, fashion shoots, and the occasional wedding. With the front of the building having the old-fashioned cinema style board, the wedding took on a little bit of a film theme, with guests collecting cinema tickets to tell them where they were seated, and images of Brando, Clark Gable and Grace Kelly adorning the venue.

Sonali got ready at their mews home in East London before heading to the church where she married her love. They then went on to MC Motors, where guests enjoyed drinks to the sound of the Basin St Brawlers jazz band and took pictures in the photo booth. After a vegetarian Gujarati feast, they partied the night away.

Destination Cotswolds Wedding at the Barnsley House

My husband will tell you, I don’t talk about much else but the Cotswolds when vacation dreaming lately. It’s so quaint, beautiful, and perfect and this wedding from Tory Williams Photography is doing wonders spurring on my wanderlust. It’s the epitome of pretty, and it’s all right here!

From the bride… Although I grew up in London, I had always wanted to get married in the Cotswolds – something about the quaint villages and beautiful country houses felt so romantic. In a twist of fortune, we moved to the area three years ago with a change in jobs and after my husband proposed last year, we were lucky enough to have some amazing wedding venues on our doorstep. We chose to get married in Barnsley House, a beautiful Country House Hotel with its fantastic gardens – as soon as we saw it, we fell in love. It was perfect.

We wanted the feel of the day to be simple and understated and the cosy country house reception rooms, were all tastefully decorated with a shabby chic charm and filled with natural garden flowers that made us feel like we were stepping into a family home, not a luxury spa hotel. We were married on a beautiful English summer’s day (a rarity!) in August, in the gardens, under a large oak tree surrounded by one hundred of our closest friends and family.

Drinks & Canapés followed the service on the lawns, accompanied by the sound of our string trio. The flower arrangements and bouquets were in keeping with the natural colours of the Barnsley House gardens and all of the paper goods were designed to include a dash of the Cotswolds green/Eau de Nil which closely matched the colour of the bridesmaids dresses. Hanging from an old tree, was a large picture frame that displayed our table seating plan – each table number was attached via string which floated gently in the breeze. A cocktail bar was set up in the garden temple & we cut the cake as husband and wife as the sun set over the Cotswolds.

The evening was filled with dancing and laughter and our guests captured the mood of the night with our take on the traditional guest book – a photo board. The smiles caught on film meant a lot more than words in a book – memories that we can treasure forever.
