Hacienda Wedding Romance in Spain

My biggest weakness when it comes to wedding venues? Gorgeous old-world Spanish architecture. Case in point: The Hacienda, and the backdrop for this insanely stunning soiree from Rachel Rose Weddings. It might be the worn pale tiling, the subtle cracks in the stone or the weathered wooden doors… but it feels as if the walls have seen countless generations of love. And etched right in, is this sweet day.

From Rachel Rose Weddings….Victoria and Richard were struggling to choose between our wedding venues for their big day but once they visited The Hacienda their hearts were set. They had decided on a rustic but romantic wedding and The Hacienda was the perfect setting for this with its surrounding andalucian countryside yet elegant and slightly grand main house. The wedding took place in early May and the weather was perfect for an alfresco ceremony which took place in the gardens of the house. We chose a colour palette to suit the backdrop of the venue with beautiful David Austin roses in soft peaches and creams with a few succulents to add some depth and contrast. This flower choice was then continued with the rustic styled centerpieces and buttonholes. With a classical Spanish guitarist setting the tone as the wedding guests arrived for a welcome reception of Sangria, the day was ready to start. Victoria looked beautiful in her very romantic Pronovia dress and after the ceremony the guests moved to the pool area for champagne and canapés followed by dinner and dancing long into the night in the beautifully decorated and romantically lit courtyard – a party to remember!

Garden Romance in the South of Spain

Spain is bringing it right now. Or more precisely, this destination wedding in the South of Spain with dreamy photography by Joseba Sandoval is bringing it. And these just might be the prettiest nuptials ever, ever. A Claire Pettibone floral gown, garden glamour details by Mar Sandoval like you wouldn’t believe and all with a layer of undeniable romance. The co-ordination and styling of this wedding at Hotel Villa Padierna, South of Spain came once our bride chose an amazing Claire Pettibone dress.

It was great how we all came together to create and play with a little added creative styling from the stunning backdrops roses and centerpieces for the table to the hat arrangements for the guests.

The wedding was all based around the concept of the wedding gown, which was all translated into each look across all the elements such as the makeup, flowers, wedding cake, venue and overall styling.

For the wedding we had the pleasure to work along side the most talented wedding suppliers (see below for credits) from the Costa del Sol, who helped translate the concept into reality.

Madrid Honeymoon Mini-Guide

First thought: These two newlyweds are beyond adorable. Second: Gallivanting around the streets of Madrid soaking up the gorgeous Spanish architecture with Jimena Roquero? Officially, my new dream honeymoon. This post-wedding prettiness intrigued me so, that I just had to steal a few bits of travel recs from Jimena and Lizzie for a mini-guide. Best idea ever.

Where to eat?
There are some restaurants considered a MUST in the city, such as Restaurante Botin where you should try their suckling pig. Also, Casa Lucio a well-known restaurant, where their speciality “Broken Eggs” have been tested by many celebrities. If you are visiting Madrid in the fall or winter, you can try a Cocido Madrileño, in Restaurante L’hardy. For a lighter meal, I recommend Restaurante Triciclo, in the fun and cultural Barrio de las Letras. They offer a gourmet, yet affordable menu and the atmosphere is more informal and hip.

Of course, you should definitely try some “tapas” with cold “cañas” (beer) or wine in the neighborhood La Latina. Walking the Cava Baja Street stopping in the different bars and tabernas trying different and delicious Spanish dishes, such as “calamares a la romana” (fried calamari), Spanish jamón, pimientos de Padrón (sweet and hot green peppers), tortilla de patata (Spanish omelet) etc… A good place to start is Restaurante La Chata but there are more amazing bars and restaurants on that street than you can imagine!

Another special place that’s worth a visit is the taberna La Venencia, a genuine sherry house, opened more than 80 years ago. They only serve sherry and a a few small “tapas” at an incredibly low price. Finally, I would suggest to stop by the Mercado de San Miguel, a renovated old food market, now turned into a very popular gourmet tapas spot. The perfect place to get some oysters and seafood with a glass of white wine.

Where to stay?
The Westin Palace, the Ritz Hotel or the Villamagna Hotel are probably the most emblematic places to stay. Also, Me by Melia, a very centric, recently renovated hotel, is a good option, too.

What do to?
Walking around the city is the best way to explore Madrid. It’s a very vibrant city with streets full of people from early morning to late at night! Apart from visiting some Museums, maybe a Flamenco show or a soccer game, there are a few areas in the city that I would highly recommend to visit: The Barrio de las Letras or also known as Huertas, is a charming and fun neighborhood to spend an evening. You’ll find plenty of bars and cafes, like Matute or Tandem to have a coffee or a cocktail. You’ll also find a good amount of small art galleries here if you are looking for a cultural route. La Fábrica gallery is probably one of the most important ones as it also has a nice cafe and an art bookstore.

Malasaña neighborhood is a good option for people looking for a hip and young vibe. Tons of bars and cafes like La Bicicleta, or La Realidad are good to have a drink at night in one of the most popular areas to hang out until late hours.

Must see?
Prado Museum, Reina Sofia Museum, Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, Plaza Mayor & Puerta del Sol, Puerta de Alcala, El Retiro Park, Atocha Train Station, Matadero Madrid, Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Círculo de Bellas Artes (you can go up to the roof to see the views of the city for 1€), Mercado de San Miguel, Barrio de La Latina, Barrio de Las Letras, Barrio de Malasaña, Barrio de Chueca.

The flea market “Mercado de Motores” at the Museo del Ferrocarril (an artist flea market held in the Train Museum where you can enjoy and purchase beautiful things from local artists while you see some amazing old train wagons, enjoy some live music and you get some foodies at the backyard). It’s only once a month so you’ll have to check whether or not it is happening the days of your visit.

Matadero Madrid, a cultural and eclectic space that’s worth the visit, even just to know the original renovation of an old slaughterhouse, turned into a huge cultural center that holds a theatre, a library,  an art space, a restaurant and many other things.

If you have a car, you can visit some of the oldest cities of Spain, which you’ll find only one hour from Madrid: Toledo, Segovia or Avila are charming and interesting destinations worth to spend a day with great gastronomic and cultural offers.

What to wear?
Madrid is fun and vibrant, and maybe not as sophisticated as other European cities but it has great charm and great weather! Unless you’re visiting in the deep winter months, you’ll be able to wear light clothes and summer outfits, so take advantage of that! Get colored! July and August are VERY hot months, so be prepared for that, but the rest of the year it’s a lovely city to enjoy.

From Lizzie, the bride… wear comfy shoes! The main/touristy parts of Madrid are all walkable from one end to the other, but you want to have good shoes to do it! Madrid was the best place to shop and eye all the latest fashion. I had serious window envy walking along Gran Via.

[dotted]

From the beautiful Bride… A lot of people joke with us, “Don’t you have enough pictures of yourselves?” But the truth is, we don’t think you can! During our engagement and wedding, I loved working with different photographers to capture every detail of our special day. So when it came time to plan our honeymoon, I wanted to once again capture the love, happiness and memories of our time spent in Madrid, Spain. To achieve this, we called on a native to Madrid, Jimena Roquero.

Working with Jimena was not only amazing because of her breathtaking work, but we truly felt like we were gallivanting around town with an old friend – who also shared some local recommendations to ensure our honeymoon was perfect. For this shoot, didn’t want an engagement style where it’s all about us. We wanted to look back at these photos and be able to soak in the Spanish architecture and relive the afternoon spent together under the sun.

One of the favorite things we saw was a flamingo dance/dinner show at Cardamomo. We also loved visiting Plaza del Sol (city center), El Rasto (marketplace), and Museo del Prado. We took a lot of these photos in the Plaza Mayor, La Latina and walking along Gran Via. All were so romantic and beautiful! Parque del Retiro is another lovely place for honeymooners to stroll along the gardens and fountains together.

Two Day Wedding Extravaganza in Seville

A destination wedding in Seville sounds like a dream, no? Now how about a two day wedding extravaganza filled with faux-bull fighting, a moroccan picnic cocktail hour and beautiful al fresco dining under a Spanish moon – it’s wildly beautiful and all caught on film by Leila Brewster along with the perfect film captured by Elysium Productions. Have a look!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/84716322 600 338]

This wedding in Seville, Spain had it all. Bull (toros in spanish!)? check. Gypsy wedding complete with kidnap of the bride?… check. Gorgeous Spanish/Morroccan designed reception in an old olive orchard estate? Check.

Mara & Seb couldn’t think of anywhere better to tie the knot than Seville, Spain where the bride spent many holidays growing up in their family vacation home. And if you are going to have a wedding in such a place steeped in tradition, might as well go all out!

The rehearsal dinner was not so much a dinner as a traditional outing to the local bull fight ring. However there was one major difference. The matadors featured were actually several members of the wedding party! These brave gentleman (and women) barely escaped being wounded by a (not so big) bull and all the guests had a great time cheering them on.

Later, guests watched Mara & Seb take part in a traditional gypsy wedding. (The gypsy culture is alive and well in this part of the world). Of course what would a gypsy wedding be without a kidnap and bribery?

The wedding day was another day full of tradition. Mara wore a beautiful Spanish inspired gown and was topped off by a traditional Spanish head piece. Seb wore a custom suit by Bonobos. The couple did their first look on the top of Hotel Alfonso XIII which had a gorgeous view of the city. From there, the couple rode in a vintage motorcycle (Sidecar) to the Alcazar where they got special permission to shoot some incredible portrait photos!

A bit later It was off to the Iglesia del San Jorge de La Caridad. A gorgeous 15th century church in the middle of Seville where the real ceremony took place. We loved the bridesmaids dresses. All unique and chosen by the gorgeous ladies.

Now the reception takes the cake. Have you seen a more gorgeous setting in your life? Hacienda Molinillos is an old olive mill complete with a fantastic landscape and greenery that would make any guest drop their jaw. On top of that, Mara did an incredible job planning all the details involved from the signs to the morroccan lamps and blankets adorning the cocktail area. The guests had a gourmet (and traditional of course) dinner under the stars and then moved on to another designed area for the party. We can honestly say that this is one wedding that will never be forgotten!!

Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter Love Shoot

If there is anything more romantic than strolling through the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona hand in hand with your love while enjoying the last sunny rays of the day, I really, really don’t know what it is. In fact, I’m absolutely convinced by these pictures from Veronica Hansen Wedding Photography, it doesn’t exist!

From the lovely couple… When people ask us how we met, they’re often surprised when I tell them that Ollie was my 8th grade crush. Being from a small town in Texas, it is not uncommon for love stories to begin in high school. I know that this is the part where most hopeful romantics are expecting that to be our story as well… however, our love story had a bit of a sense of humor and decided to make us wait nearly thirteen years to actually get passed the opening credits. After graduating high school we went separate ways for College and experienced different journeys, until one fateful day in 2011 when the magic of technology brought our worlds back together. A simple catching up message opened the door for what would become the love of our lives. By the time our paths came back as one, Ollie was stationed overseas and our relationship became rooted around traveling to see one another. Therefore it seemed only natural to have our photos, capturing our overwhelming love towards each other, taken while traveling.

For our anniversary we were delighted to take a cruise through Europe, which would land us in Barcelona, Spain for one day. I ardently admired Barcelona based wedding photographer, Veronica Hansen’s brilliantly talented work and had previously mentioned to Ollie that it would be my dream to have her as our wedding photographer and to do our engagement photos. I worried that the odds of her being available on the one quick day that we would have in Barcelona were slim, but we knew that we had to at least try. When I told Veronica our story, she went above and beyond to make our dream come true for us while we were in Barcelona. Because we were all three in different countries during the planning of our photo session, we used Skype to arrange the logistics. Veronica and I Skyped one blissful afternoon and I was blown away at how deeply she cared about not only our story but also telling it through her photos, she took every little detail to heart and what came out of that is nothing short of perfection.

The day of our photo session was nearly effortless, with the exception of my less than stellar choice of wearing very high-heeled shoes on the centuries-old cobblestoned sidewalks, in the middle of the summer at that. Ollie and I are somewhat old souls and have a great appreciation for gothic architecture, churches, and little cafés, so when we learned of the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona it could not have been more perfect. What we could not have expected was that Veronica had taken every single detail that I had mentioned in our Skype meeting and had spent many hours working to make the day truly unforgettable and to bring all of the details of our dream photo session into reality.

Our day began by meeting Veronica at pre-determined location near the docks where our cruise ship was docked; she had even taken the liberty of creating a map equipped with pictures for us to easily locate her. We spent some time in the city just enjoying the beautiful scenery. Once it was time for our photo session, Veronica led the way as we walked into the Quarter, which was set aglow by the picturesque beams of the sunset, all the while teaching us all about the city of Barcelona; it was as though we had an amazing photographer and tour guide all in one! Our photo session went seamlessly, except for us having to stop every so often for me to change shoes—ladies, bring a pair of flats when walking in Barcelona! We ended our day with a cup of gelato, a new and growing friendship with Veronica, and photos that still to this day take my breath away.

I’ve often heard that true love is like fine wine, it gets better with time…as history has shown in our story, every passing day only gets better and these pictures capture that sentiment flawlessly. I could not have asked for anything more.

Sun Filled Engagement in Ibiza

Your wanderlust is about to be kicked into major overdrive with this engagement session in Ibiza. It has all the makings of a beautiful shoot – wildly gorgeous views, great resort wear, a hammock and Jimena Roquero behind the lens. And if these pretty images are any indication of what’s to come, it’s pretty safe to say this couple’s wedding is going to be off the charts.

From the Photographer… Sophie and Christian will get married in Ibiza next year and they wanted to get some pictures for their wedding invitation. Sophie is from Montreal and Christian is Swedish, they met in Paris and they both live in London but they wanted to have their engagement session in Ibiza where they own a gorgeous house with stunning views to the Mediterranean Sea. For their Save the Date, they decided to go with two different styles of picture: the first one would be a romantic image representing the natural wonders Ibiza has to offer. The second one would represent the other side of the island, the party one, so Sophie and Christian jumped into their bathtub and went a little crazy celebrating with balloons and champagne!!

Elegant Barcelona Destination Wedding

You know it’s a beautiful wedding with just 5 minutes and 35 seconds of a (stunning) highlight film grabs on to your heart and tears stream down your face. With Yes, I Do behind the planning, I knew I’d love it, but after watching the intimate emotions captured so well by FOCUSLAB, I’m floored, and quite honestly, wiping tears from my eyes.

From FOCUSLAB… Alex and David have lived a lifetime separated just by some blocks in their city, New York, going to the same parties, same restaurants, with some common friends, but without running into each other, but as in all great stories there is something unexpected happened, they met in Spain and this country became important in their story, so they decided to get married there. Alex and David were preparing a wedding that reflected their day-to-day: full of details, stylish and a big celebration for their friends, who have traveled from the States (and all over the world) to be with them. The trip is an important point in their history so they decided to give their guests a unique experience of traveling and visiting a new city.

Furthermore we have to add the warmth of the vows that they read each other and the speeches that their guests, basically best friends and family, gave and that helped us to explain the story of this couple.

Romantic, Rustic Wedding in Guadalajara, Spain

Starting the week off with a gorgeous wedding in Spain sounds like a mighty fine idea, don’t you agree? This beauty captured by Jimena Roquero Photography will surely start your week off on the finest of foots. It’s romantic and rustic and all around lovely, and there is even more waiting for you right here.

From Jimena Roquero PhotographyRuth & Javi knew what kind of wedding they wanted to have. They were sure they want their guests to enjoy a memorable evening and a party they will never forget. Since both of them are super busy professional engineers, they hired the amazing team of Bodas de Cuento to design and coordinate their wedding. When Wendy from Bodas de Cuento showed them the venue they have found for them they were in tears, that was just what they had dreamed of: Monte de Cutamilla, a rustic family house surrounded by mountains, where you can easily find horses and cows pasturing wildly!

They celebrated a beautiful outdoor ceremony and they spared some fresh lemonades at the end of it. They delivered fans and hats to the guests to fight the heat. The table setting and all the decoration was picked with enormous care and taste, and for the dance hour, they even gave their women guests some flip-flops to rest their feet from the high heels! Great idea!! They also gave them a cd with a music compilation with the favorite songs of the couple.

Elegant Ibiza Wedding

An elegant Ibiza wedding with just a touch of Hollywood glamour sounds like what I need to be doing this weekend, but since that’s not yet on my agenda, I think I’ll spend some quality time soaking in this gorgeous affair captured by Gypsy Westwood Photography.  A breathtaking wedding in every which way, it’s a stunning setting meets sweet pastel hues meets one seriously adorable family.  See it all here.

From Gypsy Westwood Photography… This wedding was all about the details. I know Emma had worked very hard on getting the perfect combination with the setting, venue, colours, dress, flowers, tables settings, favours, tags, drinks food (all of it really), not missing out her beautiful self, her son and, of course, husband-to-be!

The venue is actually a friend’s house that is rented in the summer months and is just quite spectacular (the size of the pool, the view over Tagomago). It is called Las Nubes, which it is, in the clouds set high on a hill!! Where they held their ceremony with the view in the backdrop, soft light with the light blue (half stormy) sky and sea with sun breaking through was stunning for my photos!! And to top it off the speeches made you want to cry!

From the Bride… Before we’d even met (and a decade apart), the island of Ibiza was where we both had our first ever holidays away from our parents when we were 17… Andrew’s trip being in 1988 and mine in 1998! Both trips were a very different experience to the side of Ibiza we have since come to love, but the seed was planted nonetheless! We have since re-visited the island as a couple and with friends and can’t deny there is something special about the place. There are frequent moments when you look out at the crystal clear waters, beautiful sunset or when you are chatting with friends over a BBQ that you think that this is what you have waited all year for – times like these, in a place like this. That feeling is something that we wanted to share with our closest friends and family on our wedding day and to enjoy the moment and location that we love so much together.

I had been very much inspired by 1920’s-1930’s Hollywood glamour. I didn’t want it to be too glitzy though and loved the juxtaposition of touches of glamour centred in a naturally beautiful surrounding; an embellished beaded gown and statement red lip (thank you Elizabeth Taylor!) with the simplicity of the wedding set up and tables with crisp white table cloths and a small natural wildflower centre. This really let the natural beauty of the location take centre stage but added a little extra sparkle to fit the occasion.

It sounds so cliché, but the day was everything we’d hoped for, so much time spent on detailing really paid off; studding starfish with crystals until 1 in the morning, handwriting every luggage tag for the table plan, sticking on tiny bits of vintage lace and lining a vintage suitcase with a wallpaper whose colour matched the bridesmaid dresses exactly – things that as I was doing them I was cursing myself for, but I knew it would make all the difference to the overall feel of the day. The whole is only as impactful because of the sum of the parts! There had been huge thunder and lightening storms all week and we were planning on an outside ceremony around the pool so our fantastic wedding planner had quickly whipped up a Plan B in case the heavens opened, but they didn’t! There was beautiful sunshine but not too hot, truly perfect. Now, 3 months on I am still obsessed with looking through the photos and I long to have the day over again. It took us seven years and a little boy before we tied the knot so it was most definitely worth the wait.

Spanish Wedding at Villa Padierna Palace Hotel

This wedding is the reason that destination weddings are soooo very awesome.  The scenery, the elegant vibe, the perfect weather… it honestly couldn’t be any prettier.  Add in a bride and groom who are all sorts of adorable and a talented team of vendors (think Sweet Things By FiJoseba Sandoval and Reviva Weddings) and it’s one seriously great way to spend a Tuesday.  See it all here.

From Joseba Sandoval… I met Sarah one year ago through Laura Charles, one of the best wedding planners in Marbella. Since then, she told me about her future plans and a little bit after that she contacted me to shoot her wedding in Marbella from Leeds, UK.

Their wedding was in one of the best hotels in the world. Here, Michelle Obama and her daughter Sasha, were on vacation in Andalucia residing at the luxurious five-star Ritz Carlton Hotel Villa Padierna, in the municipality of Benahavís near Estepona and Marbella.

I really have no words to thank her not just for her trust, but also for her friendship and her gratitude towards my work. Thanks so much for everything and your friendship Sarah and Ruben, you have a friend forever here!

Spain Wedding at Cortijo Pedro Jimenez

This is the wedding that we all dream about: a gorgeous Cortijo Pedro Jimenez affair planned and styled to perfection by Rachel Rose Weddings with a yummy cake from Sweet Things by Fi and one heartwarming moment after another captured by Radka Horvath.  In other words, it’s destination perfection, right down to the breathtaking views and complete happiness bursting from every second.  See it all right here.

From Rachel Rose Weddings… Maria was one of my brave brides who booked her wedding venue and our planning and styling services without ever meeting us or even viewing the venue. A brave lady, but we didnt disappoint! Maria and Simon’s day was wonderful, full of smiles and laughter and a real intimate family affair with the children holding centre court throughout. Maria and Simon both have children from previous relationships and this union of their two families means they now have six wonderful children who are so close already you would never know they had only known each other a few years.

Maria wanted her styling to be relaxed but classic, so we chose a neutral color scheme to allow the beautiful grounds of Cortijo Pedro Jimenez to be the main backdrop to their day. The wedding ceremony was held in the grounds of the Cortijo with fabulous sea views behind them where the guests could see across the straights of Gibraltar to the atlas mountains of Morocco. They were then treated to champagne and canapes with homemade lemonade for the children in the traditional central courtyard followed by dinner and dancing under the stars on the pool lawn.

It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of this beautiful fun filled day and we think the love just shines through in these fabulous images from Radka Horvath.

Valencia, Spain Destination Wedding

I do believe I could stare at this wedding all day long – and actually, I might do just that. Because each image captured by Jimena Roquero looks like an absolute dream, and I am sure it was nothing short of that for this gorgeous couple. The gallery is like image after image of pure perfection, and you can get lost in all the lovely right here.

From Jimena RoqueroShuyi is from Singapur and Jorge is from Spain. They both met in New York and fell in love while doing their business training. After some time keeping the long-distance relationship they took the big step and Shuyi moved to Spain!

Their wedding was celebrated in the venue Alqueria de Mascaros, a typical old building from Valencia located in the middle of an orange field. The whole wedding was inspired by the flavors and colors of the region, orange and lemon trees which turned out in a rustic yet elegant vibe. The food was typical Valencian and Spanish food and they even had fireworks! Shuyi brought her family from Singapur and friends from New York and Jorge provided the local spirit with his family and friends from Castellon, his hometown.

From Polly Alexandre… This is Nick & Xuca’s relaxed Ibiza wedding, held at a gorgeous Moroccan inspired villa overlooking the sea in Cala Carbo in the South West of Ibiza. Their spiritual ceremony took place on the clifftop high above the sea and opposite the mythical rock of Es Vedra in Ibiza (the third most magnetic place on Earth!). Nick is an architect with his own practice, Data Nature and has designed shops for Manolo Blahnik, and Xuca works in finance. The couple met in Ibiza at a lunch thrown by mutual friends, Nick proposed in Ibiza and naturally there was only one location that their hearts would allow them to hold their wedding!

Their beautiful baby girl Olympia was at the heart of their celebrations…. and Aman Cara, a private villa, set in the wild rocks and cliff tops above the sea, a spectacular and dramatic location. The bride wore Pucci, a mosaic tiled fountain in the villa’s garden inspired the stationary suite designed by the super talented Louise Richardson, and Eat Ibiza served fresh Mediterranean salads, grilled prawns and more from the poolside BBQ. Naturally being Ibiza, festivities continued into the small hours with a live bongo player and saxophonist playing whilst guests danced around the pool.

From the Bride… Although we both work long hours, planning our wedding was a fun and relaxed affair, with lovely trips to Ibiza and meeting amazing professionals who helped us design our perfect day. From Louise’s stunning invitations and stationary, to Vikki’s spectacular wedding planning and divine catering, to Polly’s stunning photos on real film that captured the mood of the day and the dramatic weather so beautifully, and ending with our saxophonist Laura who made the evening. Sharing the experience with our daughter Olympia and our families and friends was so special and I know every single person felt incredibly spoiled and charmed on the day, especially myself and Nick!

Lavender Valencia Destination Wedding

I feel like I’ve been holding back the sweetest secret since the moment I first laid eyes on this Valencia wedding. Jimena Roquero Photography captured a day that was so ridiculously beautiful that holding on to is has been killing me. But today the way is over: here it is!

From the photographer… La Mozaira Hotel, in the heart of the Huerta Valenciana, was the chosen venue where the couple celebrated their super fun bilingual party of love with their friends and families, coming all the way from England and Barbados.

Isabel, together with her business partner Elena Ruiz, designed and overlooked every detail of the wedding. They both run CityShopping Weddings in Valencia.

The wedding was inspired by the flavors and fragrances of the orange fields of Valencia. This was reflected, for example, in the thank you gifts they delivered to their guests: one of the fabulous soaps from Olivia, made of neroli fragrance and sweet orange essential oil. Party Project Studio were in charge of the design of the wedding logo and invitations, where Isabel & Angel included a little bag filled with lavender seeds, for the guests to grow in the Fall to celebrate a new start.

They finished the day dancing to the catchy “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” performed by the original singer of the 70′s band Santa Esmeralda, a personal friend of Isabel’s family.

Last but not least, during the dancing hours, 1,2, 3 ¡Patata!, the funniest photo booth, made a welcome appearance, turning the party into a real success!

Amante Beach Club Wedding

This is one of those crazy gorgeous weddings you didn’t know you had to have, but once you lay your eyes on its pure, unadulterated beauty, it’s literally all you can think about.  The sort of wedding that does as much for Spain’s tourism bureau as it does for our galleries.  In other words, it will fill up your entire day (nay, week) with soooo much pretty, you won’t know what to do with yourselves.  See it all captured by Ana Lui Photography in the full gallery.

From Ana Lui Photography… It was an amazing day! Emma and Paul were such a lovely, calm and easy-going couple that taking photos on the day of the wedding was an easy task.  Their kids got involved a lot. It was a stunning family celebration.

Emma got ready at super cool rustic country boutique hotel called Can Domo which was only 5 min drive from their venue, Amante.  Amante overlooks a cute little bay and is situated on a cliff top.

The decorations were fab, food was great and the day just flew by so fast I didn’t want to say goodbye.  It was simply charming!

Destination Wedding in Mallorca, Spain from Claire Morgan Photography

If you want to find me today, you can find me swimming in the sea of pretty right here in this gallery of images from Claire Morgan Photography. You might just find me there tomorrow too, because this wedding is basically my dream come true. A stunning destination setting, a custom gown I might cry over it’s so pretty and gorgeous details around every corner – can you blame me for planning my day around this gallery today? See it all here.

From Claire Morgan Photography Sabine and Tassilo’s dream wedding in Mallorca came true at one of the most spectacular settings I have ever photographed – the Cap Rocat in Llucmajor, Mallorca, Spain. The couple are originally from Germany.

Their celebration took place over 3 days, with the rehearsel dinner and get-together taking place on the Friday evening before the wedding. It was an all white theme and guests enjoyed cocktails as the sun set over the horizon before enjoying dinner.

The following day the couple and family got ready at their suite for the wedding of the Cap Rocat Hotel and the ceremony took place at the Capilla de Sa Torre. The theme of the wedding was turquoise and the wedding planner did a fabulous job of organising all the decoration and stationery which was mostly flown in from Austria and Germany. It was the perfect summer day without a breath of wind for the outdoor dinner setting which was held back at the Cap Rocat Hotel.

After late-night partying the guests then enjoyed a breezy brunch by the sea at the Cap Rocat beach bar with BBQ and all sorts of other delicious delicacies. It was here that the couple also cut their cake.

Travel Inspired Destination Wedding on Ibiza from Fusion Photography

When a couple this stylish ties the knot, you can pretty much guarantee it’s going to be a gorgeous day. Like one of those days where uber-chic details and downright amazing moments combine in a crazy awesome love-fest.  It’s that good, people.  And when you add in a breathtaking (and I mean breathtaking) Ibiza setting and one moment after another captured by Fusion Photography, it’s the prettiest thing you’ll see all day.  Join me in the gallery for more.

From Fusion PhotographyThis was a wonderful wedding on the sunny dance island of Ibiza. It is our favourite wedding from the past year! Aime and Adrian flew from their home in the UK to have the wedding of their dreams in Ibiza, planning the whole thing to ensure it was exactly as they both envisioned. From the stunning hilltop villa, where the boys got ready, to the David Fielden wedding dress, everything was chosen very carefully. Adrian won best dressed male on the day with his custom tailored electric blue Hugo Boss suit, whilst Aime’s Chloe Green shoes had most ladies looking to the ground throughout the day.

The ceremony took place on a tranquil cliff-edge overlooking the Balearic Sea, in the uber-famous Amante Beach Club, and the mighty-talented Warren Cahill from ‘Rat on the Roof’ took care of the tunes for the bride’s walk down the sandy aisle, as well as the reception. The theme on the day was ‘travel’ with the stationery depicting destinations or plane tickets, with the guests names on them. World famous DJ Filthy Rich flew into the island to take care of the party side of the music afterwards. All in all, this wedding had the couples stamp all over it, whilst also paying homage to what the island stands for.

Granada, Spain Destination Wedding From Jeremy Standley Photography

Ever since my little sister journeyed off to Spain to spend a week frolicking through the countryside, I’ve had this European paradise on the very top of my bucket list.  I am fully convinced that it’s the kind of place you just HAVE to visit at least once… and saying “I do” amongst its awesomeness?  Even better. Especially when it’s a day as sweet as this affair from Jeremy Standley Photography, an intimate gem of a wedding set against a breathtaking La Alhambra backdrop with enough beauty to last a lifetime.  (I am not kidding.) Prepare to get your pretty on (there’s a lot of it) and see it all here.

From Jeremy Standley PhotographyShawna and Mike wanted a small wedding with their closest family and friends. This multicultural couple chose The Alhambra in Granada, Spain as the perfect representation of how different cultures can create something incomprehensibly beautiful and strong enough to withstand the ages. Shawna wanted to create an intimate environment with a rustic feel. She accomplished this using twine, lanterns, flowers and herbs, along with mercury glass candle holders hanging from the trees that perfectly complemented the natural atmosphere.

One of the funniest moments Shawna remembers was when she changed out of her crystal Jimmy Choos into her beat up Birkenstocks to walk down to the Alhambra with Mike. “They were so comfortable that I kept them on for the rest of the night. I literally wore my wedding shoes for less than an hour.”

She also never expected to be staying up late on her wedding night. Her party of just over 30 guests surprised her, however, and danced until the wee hours of the morning. At one point Mike dipped her down and she could see the stars out of the glass atrium. “I felt like the luckiest girl in the world,” said Shawna.

The couple has lots of advice for future destination brides: first, visit locations as an in-person visit is priceless. Also, a wedding planner is a must. There are many practical details that will need to be sorted out and you will need someone on the ground to help out with those details. Shawna encourages brides to use Pinterest to create picture boards for your wedding planner as you won’t have the luxury of multiple visits to flower shops and bakeries, so it is really important that you can clearly communicate what you want as easily and visually as possible. She also highly recommends scheduling activities for your guests. One of the best things they did was plan a walking tour of Granada with their entire group. It was casual and relaxed and everyone got to know each other before the wedding, just the way they had hoped and planned.
