From Sarah HannamWhen Little Black Book photographer Ashlee Taylor booked me to photograph her Spanish wedding in May, I knew it would be a creative affair plus I knew the warm Spanish light would look beautiful shot on film. Ashlee was marrying Spanish doctor Miguel and after a small city wedding in Ashlee’s native England, the following weekend the main celebration took place at Mas de Cigarrer, a villa nestled in amongst the vineyards and almond groves on the borders of Aragon and Catalunia in North Eastern Spain.

Ashlee’s background as a fine art photographer served her well, as she knew what style of wedding she wanted from the start and then worked very hard to cleverly create most of the details herself, so the whole thing was a real labour of love.

Ashlee learned how to do calligraphy and then with the help of her future sister in law, turned it all into a fantastic stationery suite. Her future mother-in-law, a wonderful seamstress, designed and made the beautifully flowing blush chiffon and tulle bridal gown, which suited Ashlee’s skin tone so well. Early on the day before the wedding, Ashlee took floral designer and stylist Bo Boutique out to a family member’s field in a tractor to forage olive branches and wild thyme. From hand-sewing the teal velvet bow ties and making the bridesmaid’s gifts to the enormous task of collecting jars in all sizes to light up the dancing area and painting their bases gold, nothing was too much for Ashlee and all her huge efforts really paid off to produce a very stylish and personal occasion.

Winter Beach Wedding In Ibiza

Ibiza. Do I really need to say anymore? A white dress, a handsome groom, the shores of one of the most captivating places on earth. It’s the very contents that make up the most beautiful wedding story ever and with a few amazing vendors behind the wheel (we’re talking to you Ana Lui for these stunning images), this celebration is loveliness defined. Make sure to stick around in the gallery for even more!

From the Bride … The first time we visited Ibiza, we instantly fell in love with the island. We go back about once a year and now Ibiza really feels like home to us. A nice ‘home’ where the sun always shines and a beautiful beach around every corner. For destination brides, I really suggest you go and visit the venue before you book anything. When you walk around the venue you really get a good feeling of the vibe and style of the venue, and if it is the right size for your number of guests. You won’t really get that from some pictures on the web. Since you have to arrange everything from a distance, a good local wedding planner who can advise you, has great ideas and help you find good local vendors, is really almost essential.

Our wedding was one of the most beautiful days of our life.

Romantic Summer Spanish Wedding

There isn’t an adjective in the book that would justly define this Mallorca beauty captured by Jimena Roquero and planned by Bodas De Cuento.  The ceremony venue alone, Son Marroig, might be one of the most gorgeous I’ve ever seen, giving this couple and their guests one memorable place to say I do. After you’ve soaked in all the pretty, be sure to watch this destination wedding celebration unfold in the film by Focus Lab.

From Jimena RoqueroAna & Jenson flew from California to the Balearic Island of Mallorca to celebrate their love among their very close friends and family surrounded by thousands of white and pink roses. They got married at the unique location of Son Marroig, an old pavillion at the top of a cliff with amazing views. The reception was at La Residencia in Deia, a beautiful small town in the North-West of the island. These gorgeous locations were key on their wedding evening as the couple with all their guests were able to enjoy the sunset.

From the Bride… Jenson and I met each other in college while we were both attending Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. He was on the tennis team and I was on the running team. His two best friends, while going through our third year, came up to me at a school event and told me about Jenson and how they thought that we should meet each other. The next week we met at another school event and talked all night and exchanged numbers at the end. The next day he invited me to his house for dinner to cook his “specialty,” which included pasta and a cucumber salad. I liked him so much that I didn’t want to tell him that I was very allergic to cucumbers and I saw how hard he tried to make the dinner perfect that I ate every last bite and just dealt with an itchy and swollen throat without saying anything about my allergy. The next night he invited me over to cook for me again, and this time he ended up making steak with his cucumber salad again! He didn’t find out that I was actually allergic to cucumbers until a few months into our relationship. Ever since those first two nights, we never left each other’s side and he proposed to me on the beach two years later at our “special spot” the hour after we finished finals of our last semester.

We wanted to have a long engagement so that we could enjoy being each other’s fiancé. Even though we had an almost two year engagement, we didn’t decide on the venue until about 6 months before we got married! We went back and forth between venues for over a year until we decided on the island of Mallorca in Spain. We knew that we wanted to get married in a town where we had never had any previous memories so that the town only represented the memory of our wedding to us . We also wanted to have a very small wedding because we loved how small weddings were very intimate and romantic. We decided to find a place to hold our wedding in Europe!

As we went through the possible cities, we knew that we wanted to be in a place that had the beauty and charm of one of the countryside villages such as those in the South of France, while also being close to the Mediterranean Sea. We felt that being in a beach town, there would be more activities for everyone to do, which was very important to both Jenson and I as well our family and close friends. We heard about Mallorca a few months before because one of our favorite tennis players, Rafael Nadal, grew up there. Both of our families, being very into tennis, made us start to look at this small island off the coast of Spain. Jenson and I fell onto the website of the hotel La Residencia located in Deia, Mallorca, and immediately fell in love with the gardens and Olive groves that surrounded it. After looking at this small town and learning that it is a romantic, picturesque, coastal town where many poets and artists retire to, we knew it would be the perfect place balancing beauty and romance for our wedding day!

Once we chose the destination for where our wedding would be held, we found Carmen and Paula from Bodas De Cuento and started to work with them and their team during the next six months before our wedding! Jenson and I had to plan everything over Skype and were only able to go visit the venue and Mallorca one time a few months before the wedding. Even though we were gone for most of the planning process, Carmen and Paula were able to place everything together in the short amount of time we had before the wedding and without having Jenson and I there to help decide on everything in person.

We wanted the wedding to be whimsical, elegant, and beautifully romantic, with everything covered in roses and with the color tones of ivory, cream and blush. Once September rolled around and most of our guests arrived about five days before the wedding day, we had daily treats such as cake pops, cookies, and petit fours brought to them representing the theme of the rose. On the wedding day, I wore a lace gown and even though I had collected my something new, old, blue, and borrowed, I decided the only piece of jewelry I wanted to wear was my engagement ring my husband gave to me nearly two years before. We held our ceremony at the historic 19th century manor, Son Marroig, located just before the village of Deia, and got married under its beautiful marble gazebo overlooking the Mediterranean Sea at sunset. After the ceremony, we went back to La Residencia for the reception to eat at its award-winning restaurant, El Olivo, run by executive chef Guillermo Méndez and his team. We ate the candlelit dinner under a ceiling of hanging hydrangeas and roses. After dinner, Jenson and I spent the rest of the night dancing in the middle of our family and friends as they waved sparklers and savored the last hour of the most magical day of our life.

From the Groom… My best friend and I, when we both started Pepperdine University our freshman year, each had one girl that if we had the chance to date, we would marry. For me, that girl was Ana Christine. Every time I saw her, I would stop in my tracks and admire her. However, during the first couple of years at Pepperdine, she was in a long-term relationship, so I wasn’t able to get to know her. One day, at the end of our first semester of sophomore year, my best friend noticed that her relationship ended on Facebook and we started jumping up and down celebrating. The next year, after she came back from being abroad, both of my best friends (later my two best men at the wedding) went up to her at different times at a school event without me knowing, to tell her that I really wanted to meet her. The next week, she and I finally met and talked all night. By the end of it, I was leaving the event with my friends, and told them that was the girl I was going to marry. Two years later, I proposed.

Soft Pink + Gold Barcelona Wedding

You might not be surprised to learn that the bride behind this ahhh-mazing wedding? Well, she’s none other than European fashion blogger, Mes Voyages à Paris. Along with Bodas De Cuento helping plan by her side, she pulled off the ultimate lovefest complete with a Rosa Clará gown fit for a princess. See every dreamy pink and gold detail captured by Joseba Sandoval sitting pretty right here.

From The Bride…Even before becoming engaged I knew my wedding would breathe the nostalgia of the past. It had to be rustic and vintage but with the glamour of Paris – our favorite city.

The first thing we did was to decide to work with Bodas de Cuento, our wedding planners, who helped us during the organization and wedding design process. Then, we worked to find the perfect venue for the reception which could achieve this mix of feelings and contrasts. When I saw that classic Catalan country house from the 18th century, Masia Ribas, I realized it was the place for us. It had to be there. The gorgeous forest would be the perfect and bucolic rustic scenery and the house will allow us to achieve that combination of a vintage, romantic and glamorous atmosphere for the moment of the dinner.

Then we knew we had to think of colors. Colors were really important for us thinking about our wedding decoration and ambience. We needed some golden to evoke that palace air, off-white and brown would get the vintage-rustic atmosphere and pale pink would wrap everything in an atmosphere of romance and sweetness.

As a fashion blogger, I have worked with many photographers and to me was really important the style of photography I wanted for our wedding memories. When I found Joseba Sandoval of Romance Weddings, I knew that him and Mar had to be part of our big day. I discovered their work on Style Me Pretty and it was love at first sight. They do a magical work, and it was just a dream for us to count on them to shoot our big day. We also found Basilico Studio for our wedding film and they were able to perfectly capture all the emotions experienced that day.

After the colors, we wanted to set the tables decor and we tried different combinations of chair, shallow dish, cups … at first moment it was not easy because I already had the picture on my mind of what I was looking for, but finally we found the perfect one. When I visualized the pink linen tablecloth and golden Napoleon chair, I just could imagine how would the full salon look like, and all the other wedding stuff was really easy to find: the flowers, the details and even my dress.

The dress was almost the last thing I decided a few months before the wedding. Once again, I had to unify vintage, glamour, rustic, princess dress but far away from the obvious style. Working in fashion, I just wanted to feel very unique with my own personal touch. It was a Rosa Clará amazing gown in which creation process I could participate: strapless dress and cut at the waist, crafted in rustic ottoman silk skirt with a skirt full of scarves and open back. Also, for the church I wore a French bolero in guipure lace with mounted sleeves and boat neckline. The veil was silky tulle, off-white color. I also chose non-traditional wedding shoes -iconic YSL Tribute sandals in pale pink, a gift from my lovely sister. The tiara and the belt were made by order because I wanted something gold in my dress just to be paired with the golden details in the tables.

For the party I wore a second wedding dress: strapless pink tulle gown of Hellenic inspiration. And to continue with the decor, outdoor details like a large chandelier that hung from an ancient tree were those little things that made the wedding be our dreamed wedding. The photocall in pink and with an Instax camera created a magical and totally vintage corner. Like the corner of the seating plan, made of wooden boards hanging from an ancient tree. Like the swing, an element that was the delight of the guests and, at the same time, fulfilled a dream.

The floral design was made by Pedro Navarro, his work is really gorgeous and he worked in an amazing way our inspiration. My wedding bouquet was made also by him, with hydrangeas in pink and pistachios tones, branched roses in pastel champagne and pink English roses, white and pink astilbe and Italian green eucalyptus. The bouquet was holded by a piece of vintage lace that I found in Paris, and dated from the 20’s (Belle Époque). Like a secret treasure I could hold in my hands with tons of love while I was walking down the aisle, with Beyonce’s Ave Maria, to be reunited with my future husband, at Santa Maria Reina de Pedralbes church, in Barcelona.

Spanish Seaside Bridal Inspiration

I visited Spain years ago but the vibrancy of that region still remains strong in my memories. With the oranges and sunny colors, I was transported then, and once again here, with this photo shoot by Renee Hollingshead. The Boutique Wedding Co. created a beautiful beach scene, complete with Poppy & Scooter invites and some delightful desserts. Get swept away with all the colorful creations right here.

From Renée Hollingshead Photography… When I booked my first trip to Europe, I knew I had to find a way to photograph internationally. I had dreamed of visiting Spain ever since I studied Spanish in high school. After researching planners in each of our destinations during our backpacking trip, I came across Lucy of The Boutique Wedding Co. I was immediately excited when she expressed interest and we planned to skip our day in Madrid to travel to Malaga for a romantic Spanish shoot.

We e-mailed, skyped, and planned ideas for our Coastal Spanish Romance shoot for weeks. Inspired by Pantone’s Spring 2015 colors, we opted for a very vibrant Strawberry Ice and Tangerine against the blue skies of the Andalucian Coast of Spain. Oranges are local to this region this time of year, so it was the perfect element to include. Lucy gathered an incredible team of vendors including a handmade gown by Claudia Arrieta and beautiful jewelry from Meriko London.

Fast forward a few months later and I’m finally in Spain. After leaving the train station I was in complete awe of this beautiful city. Rolling hills right on a beautiful coast, I didn’t want to leave! Malaga was indeed the perfect location for our coastal shoot and everything I had hoped it would be. I was completely blown away by all the beautiful details Lucy put together including vintage items passed down from her family, natural olive and lavender garlands right from their neighborhood, dip-dyed lace, and beautiful florals. Poppy & Scooter provided a gorgeous invitation suite complete with gold calligraphy and hand-painted citrus designs to match our look. It was hands-down one of the prettiest shoots I’ve ever seen. We photographed right until the end of sunset before getting back on a train to Madrid. I truly left my heart in Spain and I cannot wait to get back and work with this talented team again.

Colorful + Chic Spanish Villa Wedding

From kicking off the festivities with their rehearsal dinner, to uniting a global guestbook in Spain, this impossibly cute couple tied the knot with plenty of style. Amongst cobblestone streets and colorful houses, Sandra Åberg captured their emotional ceremony complete with a traditional exchange of coins. From Sandra Aberg… This impossibly cute couple chose to bring their friends and family from all around the world to the most quaint little chapel in an area of Marbella known as La Virginia to tie the knot with a collision of American, Dutch/Flemish, and Spanish traditions and style.

The cobblestone streets and colorful houses made the perfect backdrop for the bride’s walk to the church with her father. An emotional and extremely warm ceremony was capped off with a traditional exchange of coins.

The reception was held at the gorgeous Villa Poniente, where the bride and groom spent an entire week with their friends enjoying everything that Marbella has to offer. On the day of the wedding, the grounds at the villa were transformed into an outdoor lounge, complete with large pillows and cosy blankets to add a moroccan boho feel. Giant teepees and countless lanterns added to the ambience throughout the night.

The laid back couple was anything but traditional and a classic Austin Mini Moke was their choice for a wedding car. They had a blast bombing around the streets of Marbella in that little thing, and it was so fun to see a couple who dared to just be themselves and do things their way.

It goes without saying that this couple’s engagement session and rehearsal dinner, kept the same theme were just as incredible as their wedding day.

Seaside Spanish Engagement Session & Rehearsal Dinner

I love the idea of having a fun photo shoot to kick off your wedding weekend. This adorable couple was already dressed up and in a celebratory mood, as Sandra Aberg captured their smiles and the stunning Spanish sights, before their rehearsal dinner where wine was poured and toasts made. We’re getting a look at all the amazing festivities that happened the next day at their wedding later on today but for now, I’m quite happy to plant myself here and soak up every perfect pre-wedding pic.

From Sandra Aberg… We met Jessica & Ian on the beach. They looked so cute in their boho chic outfits and I think it comes through in the images just how much they enjoy each other’s company. We got to ride through the streets of Marbella with them in the back of their Austin Mini Moke. And we even managed to squeeze in some photos in the famous Porta Banus harbour on an 80 year old sailboat and a six story yacht.

Jessica & Ian’s rehearsal dinner was one for the ages. The dinner was held at Ian’s father’s summer home, so far up on the hill that you can see Morocco on a clear day. The sprawling backyard was adorned with countless blooming African lilies. Guests were treated to a welcome drink and snacks, and a horse and dog show by Santi Serra Camps, and a meal with an incredible selection of food. Long tables were decorated with rosemary and lemons and candles on the sand that had been brought in and transformed the tennis court into a beach setting.

Highlights included the many speeches by the couple’s friends and family. Ian’s father gave the couple a gold bottle of Armand de Brignac Ace of Spades champagne, which he mentioned hip hop stars like Jay Z quite like, so that everyone at the dinner could toast the couple properly.

Elegant Spanish Hacienda Winter Wedding

I’m eager for an invite to a destination wedding, to attend a celebration like this one here, combining classic elegance with fantastic local flavors. Wedding Venues in Spain took the groom’s heritage and creatively incorporated it with his bride’s stylish eye, and what we get is perfection. Agata Jensen captured it all and I’ll be adding Andalucia to my wanderlust list purely from these photos right here.

From The Bride… Paul and I met while working together in San Diego. After a year of crossing paths we began dating in 2007. One of the things we love doing most is to travel. We often spent time in Spain to visit Paul’s family as he was born there. On our fourth trip back, Paul surprised me with an excursion to Ronda and a stay at the famous Parador hotel. He walked me out on the balcony and began showing me a video he had made of all of our trips over the last six years, it was absolutely amazing. At the end of the video, he got down on one knee and proposed overlooking the Tajo Bridge. I still get chills just thinking about it!

Paul had suggested I look at wedding venues on this trip as we had discussed a potential wedding in Spain before. Coincidentally I had scheduled an appointment to visit the amazing Cortijo Pedro Jimenez the day after he proposed. Paul and I met with Rachel, walked the grounds and fell in love! Fifteen months later we were lucky enough to have all of our family and friends travel from the states to Spain to have the wedding week of a lifetime. For us it was a picture-perfect location for an intimate reunion and wedding. We were able to enjoy breakfast together, pool parties with our entire guest list, and dinner each night under the stars. With the help of all of the vendors everyday was unique and special. We feel so fortunate to have had our wedding in such an intimate and stunning setting with everyone we love.

From Rachel Rose Weddings… Being a part of Ashley and Paul’s wedding was such a pleasure, they are both such friendly and beautiful people and I was very excited to be planning another long distance Californian wedding in Spain. Ashley’s stunning dress was a light blush colour so we opted with neutrals for the florals with accents of gold which featured in vintage frames for the seating plan and other signage. In honour of Paul’s heritage we decided to bring in some traditional Spanish wedding features such as a sherry pourer and a jamon carver and then some more fun elements were added in the form of the cute little white and gold bull shaped escort cards by Nulki Nulks and the mini bottles of Tio Pepe sherry that were given to the wedding guests as favors.

Rustic Summer Marbella Wedding

I’m pretty sure Gabriel Navas stepped into a fantasy world when he photographed this destination celebration; the views along are breathtaking. Caprichia Weddings & Occasions took Marbella’s natural beauty and added the perfect rustic touches, allowing Herz Films to capture a work of art for us to enjoy. While we all may not be able to escape to Spain, these treats below might be the next best thing.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/106476123 600 338]

From The Bride… Oliver and I met in Marbella while I had been visiting my parents during a university holiday break eight years ago. Ever since, we have been coming back to Spain several times a year and Marbella quickly became our “special place” which now almost feels like a home away from home. So we didn’t have to think twice when it came to picking our wedding location. With its perfect climate, beautiful nature, and given our very special personal history, Marbella was the ideal place for our summer destination wedding. We wanted an alfresco ceremony and celebration and simply loved the idea of spending some quality time at the beach with all our closest friends and family prior to the big day.

For the wedding itself we envisioned an intimate and elegant affair with great music and lots of amazing food. Having a great & memorable night with all our friends was the number one priority. So we were looking for a venue offering enough privacy and allowing us to dance under the stars until the early morning hours. When our wedding planner Lucia first showed us around the Finca we were blown away by the breathtaking views and landscape. It was the most perfect backdrop and more than we had dreamt of.

We kept the décor very classic and chic and added just a few rustic touches to incorporate the natural surroundings of the venue. The reception was set amidst gorgeous olive trees, decorated with hanging fairy lights and chandeliers. We chose a soft white and nude palette with hints of green, as we wanted everything to look very organic and natural against the background of the dramatic mountain panorama and olive tree groves.

We flew in the most amazing band from Berlin, who kept our multicultural German-Russian-Jewish crowd dancing all night long. Our caterer created an incredibly delicious wedding menu including show cooking stations and the most insane dessert buffet featuring all kinds of cakes, chocolates, mousses and macarons you could possibly imagine. Thanks to Lucia and her incredibly talented team, every little detail of the day was perfectly planned and put together with so much taste and elegance. Everyone worked so hard to turn our vision and ideas into the best and most beautiful day of our lives. Looking back it still feels like the most amazing dream and we are so happy to have shared this memory with so many of our friends and family members.

Seaside Castle Wedding in Spain

This wedding is the epitome of romantic.  It’s soft and ethereal with a jaw-droppingly gorgeous locale (hello sweet Castell De Tamarit), pretty pink blooms from Phlox and some of the most amazing details you will ever lay your eyes upon from Bodas De Cuento.  In other words?  It’s pure perfection.  See it all captured by Raquel Benito right here.

From Bodas De Cuento… Julie and Bruno, a French couple living in Barcelona, got married in the stunning Castell de Tamarit, a castle located in Tarragona, 100 km from Barcelona. All the guests came mostly from France and Portugal.

Julie gave much importance to the moment of getting dressed. She dreamed to be dressed by her bridesmaids. Julie also made a gesture towards her ‘girls’ and she gave them a present: a tote bag with lots of girly stuff, such as a vanity kit with their names.

The ceremony took place just in front of the sea with a gorgeous arch of olive leaves and flowers especially made for the occasion. Julie wanted her wedding to have a soft air and that was the reason why all the flowers and most of the decoration elements were pinks and whites. For flowers we used roses, hydrangeas, astilbe… It was very important to have a soft inspiration but representing the Mediterranean style.

During the ceremony there was a balloons release in tribute to their parents. All the guests balloons were white, except Julie and Bruno’s, which were red. It was a very emotive moment, we knew that it was going to be, so we thought it would be perfect to prepare some fabric tissues for the “tears of joy”.

An authentic Cuban band took charge of the music during the ceremony and appetizers.

After the ceremony, our couple went to the beach for a very special photo shoot with a lit staircase. When they came back, they could enjoy the food and music with their guests.

As the food was served as a cocktail, there was a lettering board with all of the menu.

During the dinner, a rock and jazz band called ‘La Soul Machine’ entertained the guests. Also there was a magical tree of memories and a guest book. After the dinner there was a new surprise for all the guest, a vintage caravan of crêpes.

As Julie and Bruno wanted, they could enjoy of the wedding near the sea, a splendid weather and a magical night with hundreds of light garlands hanging from the trees and good live music.

Warm and Cozy Baptism in Spain

Macarena Gea is pretty much the coolest mom on the planet. It started with a sun-filled shower for her sweet baby Mateo on the way and now this cozy, cozy party. It’s a warm and fuzzy Fall celebration for Mateo’s baptism filled with candles, autumnal blooms by La Tartanaa to-die-for dessert bar and a fun guest book too. Check out the full set of images by  Senchermés right here.

From Macarena… Since it was an autumn celebration, I was inspired by this beautiful season for our event design. For the location, we chose Alma del Temple in Valencia’s old town (one of the 100 most beautiful restaurants in the world according to Taschen) and where I have the pleasure to work as wedding planner. Wood, candles, leaves and all kinds of natural materials together with a 100% autumn color palette were the perfect mix for a very cozy and warm atmosphere. Two of the big hits of the day were the dessert table and the signing corner where the guests took pictures and wrote some sweet words to our little baby.

Bright Bazaar’s Destination Wedding

Remember that time we (virtually) trekked to London for Bright Bazaar’s ridiculously adorable engagement? Well today, my dears, we get to find out what happened next. I’m talking a destination wedding on the Spanish island of Minorca filled with color, style and no shortage of love all photographed by Jean-Laurent Gaudy. Sit back and get comfy because this party is just getting started.

From Jean-Laurent Gaudy… What an incredible adventure have I lived with Will & Toby this year. First for their engagement session in London, and then in Minorca for their Mediterranean wedding. They were both so kind and so generous. The memories of these fabulous moments will stay with me for sure.

Words from Will… Toby and I met while we were at university in 2009 and have been together ever since. Toby proposed to me in December 2012 on top of the Pompidou Centre during a trip to Paris. We decided to have a destination wedding and chose to get married on the Spanish Balearic Island, Menorca. This was because we had vacationed together on the island for many years, visiting the same winery at which we eventually held the ceremony and reception for many years; knowing the staff and seeing it grow meant it felt personal and special to us. The wedding was intimate, relaxed and informal, just the way we had hoped it would be.

From Mireia CordomiWe had inspired in a Pink and white christmas wedding shoot with a perfect girl. At night she became a free girl.

She was a good girl, obedient and polite. She didn’t like to upset and she didn’t like to disappoint. A glimmer of a smile always played on her lips, but it was a sad smile made of dreams and memories. Her need to be perfect was her golden cage, a cage she dreamed of breaking free from to a hidden place, a secret place where there was no one to judge. She longed to escape for a day, an hour, a second; to run from herself toward her liberation.

She was on the brink of a new life, she was leaving behind her role as the perfect daughter to become the ideal wife. It was expected of her, she had no choice. But she knew that she would never be free from her own shackles if she was deceiving herself.

So she chose to marry at Christmas time, her favorite time of year. And like her, her day was sweet, elegant and perfect in every way, a joyous celebration in pinks and whites. To her Christmas would always be pink, it was about new beginnings and purity, it was about light and love. On that day she made a vow to herself, she decided she would remain that perfect girl and a perfect wife. But on the evening of Christmas Eve each year, once the last candle had been blown out, she would return to that day and to her true self. She would be untied from her restraints of perfection and would set herself free, running away from her home and back to nature for one night only. That grey still evening was hers alone. In the Christmas night air, the frosty ground crackling under her feet, she would dance, run, and finally escape. With red leaves falling about her like snowflakes, the perfect girl glowed beneath the light of the Christmas moon.

“Memories, like life itself, shine brighter at Christmas” – Charles Dickens.

Colorful Multicultural Marbella Wedding

Not only is this gorgeous garden-style soiree in the Marbella countryside jam-packed full of intricate and charming details, thanks to Caprichia Weddings & Occasions, but it’s the most beautiful blend of culture and family. From the first stunning image to the very last, Pedro Bellido is behind every powerful capture in this gallery.

From Caprichia Weddings & OccasionsShilpa & Eguiar are an amazing couple full of energy and a positive vibe. From the minute they contacted me, I just wanted to find a dream venue for them. I couldn’t help falling in love with the idea of blending the Indian, Spanish and American cultures, and celebrating a traditional Indian ceremony within a garden party feel. Having achieved such a highlight in their lives is truly fulfilling.

From the beautiful Bride…Eguiar and I both met in grad school at Georgetown University. We started off as good friends and over the course of a year started to develop less platonic feelings for one another. From the beginning of the relationship, I think both of us sensed that this was a relationship for the long haul. About two and a half years of dating, we both grabbed a drink after a friend’s holiday party and started joking about what our wedding would look like. After a few drinks, we both looked at each other and couldn’t find any reason to not make it happen right away.

Eguiar was born and raised in the Canary Islands of Spain, and my parents were Indian immigrants that came over to the US in their 20s. We wanted to honor both our Spanish and Indian heritages, recognizing that at times they can be diametrically in opposition of one another. Spain seemed like a perfect midpoint for my relatives in India and friends in the US, while making it easier for his friends and family to travel. We settled on Marbella, Spain for its proximity to the beach, mountains and the oft-visited sites of Sevilla, Granada and Morocco.

In true Indian style, the wedding was a five-day affair, starting off with a backyard party on that Wednesday and ending with a beachside brunch on Sunday. There was a sangeet and mehndi party, as well as flamenco and traditional Andalucian horse dancing. However, for the wedding, I wanted the actual ceremony and reception to feel like an intimate backyard party, which was definitely a challenge with 240 guests coming in from all over the world.

Lucia, our wedding planner, found us the most stunning venue I have ever seen in my life, which was cliffside off the mountains, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, Gibraltar and the coast of Morocco. I was adamant that the Hindu ceremony, dinner and dancing all be outside. The landscape was too perfect to take second fiddle to formalities. We started off the groom’s baraat (the Indian procession by horse) by the gate of the house to the mandap (the traditional Hindu altar for wedding ceremonies). After our ceremony, guests had cocktail hour overlooking the Costa del Sol and the valley near the pool of the house. Dinner and dancing took place on top of a grassed terrace that oversaw the residence and the distant twinkling lights coming from the coast of Africa.

We had long tables in front of the dancefloor that way people could mingle, get to know each other and feel like they were having dinner with old friends. You could hear Spanish, English and Hindi circulating among our guests. It was truly a multicultural gathering in every sense. Lucia perfectly captured the garden party feel that I was going for, by integrating local flowers on the table, customizing menus for each of the guests with their name, and hanging lanterns over the dancefloor.

There is so much emphasis on throwing a dream wedding, which is silly, but I’m fairly certain that the wedding was as close to what I imagine heaven would be – family, friends, good food, great drinks, stunning location, and dancing until sunset.

I cannot tell you how much the wedding was a hit. I still get emails from Indians, Spaniards and our friends telling them that it was a once in a lifetime experience. People have said that sincerely it was one of the most beautiful, unique weddings and that all throughout Saturday folks would say things like “they have thought of everything; they have thought of all these details”. All of these comments are due to you and your teams execution.

And there is much credit due to your patience and your imagination in blending the Indian elements so perfectly. The mandap and everything surrounding the ceremony was just ideal. I cannot say enough about the venue, too. People were OBSESSED with the view from the cocktail hour, making jokes like “could you see Africa when you got married??”. I can just tell you have such perfect instincts for memorable moments.

I am so grateful to have worked with you and I am just in awe of your great ethic, your amazing classiness, your response to everything. You created the highlight of not only mine and Eguiar’s life but of our parents, too.

Villa

From Sandoval Studios Photography… Luica and David were a delightful couple who wished to create their dream day here in Marbella combined with a touch of luxury and style. Working with this criteria we located a stunning luxury villa set in the hills behind Marbella, providing the perfect venue for their wedding day. As it was a smaller wedding party, the courtyard was the perfect setting for their dinner reception and the magical gazebo area already in the gardens was a beautiful location for the ceremony. Luica and David loved the different areas we could use for their wedding day and the property offered a lot of privacy so they could relax and enjoy their day with their close family and friends.

Florals were high on Luica’s agenda and the talented Pedro Navarro and his team created stunning floral displays using Juliet roses, white peonies and ranunculus combined with lace draped over the main table and plenty of vintage styling from the chairs to the extra props drafted in for the day, the overall style was pure romance.

We loved the watercolour and calligraphy stationery created for the day by the Design House of Moira which matched the original invitations and each place setting had a beautiful menu and placecard which was pinned to a peach. I do love combining florals with fruits and this was done perfectly.

The candy bar created by Dulce Serendipia and our cheese table were styled with the same romantic theme and us girls even managed to sneak a bit of glitter in! Mar from Romance Weddings created some fabulous cocktail stirrers, paper flowers and vintage props, we always love her attention to details and styling, especially when it comes to taking the photographs. A girl after our own heart!

The gorgeous wedding cake, that I was banned from going near, was designed and created by Sweet Things By Fi, it looked stunning and had been designed to match Luica’s dress, sadly I did not get to test it on this occasion!

Luica’s dreamy dress was from Chaviano Couture, we swooned when we saw Luica appear from her dressing room and David looked equally handsome in his Hugo Boss suit.

A wonderful day was had by our charming couple along with their families and friends who partied well into the evening.

Personality Filled DIY Wedding in Galicia, Spain

At its very core, this wedding captured by Jimena Roquero is gorgeous. The florals, the setting, the couple – it’s honestly breathtaking from start to finish. But beyond all that, you seem to get to know the couple with each stunning image. With it’s somewhat boho, somewhat vintage, somewhat classic feel, this couple packed their personality into every heartfelt detail, and you can fall in love with all of it here.

From Jimena RoqueroAlthough they kept some classic touches, Mar and Maurix wanted a different wedding so they personally took care of every single detail of the wedding.

Since one year earlier, Mar collected all kind of jars and bottles, which she painted and turned into the stunning table decoration she displayed at her wedding. And she created a different design for every single number of the table settings! They are both graphic designers and have a great artistic sense, and they used it to create and design everything involved, from the invitations, tote bags as favor gifts, to all the stationary, etc… Mar even designed her own dress which was executed later by the designer Sole Alonso. Mar know she would like to wear a simple dress with an original touch, so she wore some traditional knickers underneath!

Mar always dreamed of getting married in a ranch, but when she fell in love with Maurix, a boy from the Spanish region of Galicia, she decided she would change the ranch for a “Pazo” (the traditional Galician house”). However, since they are both big fans of the American culture, they rented an old Cadillac to drive them to the reception to surprise all their guests. Mar also had another surprise for Maurix: she brought to the wedding one of Maurix’s favorite bands to play a little live show during the cocktail hour. Of course, Maurix was in tears when he saw that!

Classic + Elegant Marbella Wedding

Kudos to this stunning Chicagoan duo. With the help of Rachel Rose Weddings, they planned their Marbella destination wedding from afar and the result is blend of American and Spanish tradition right down to every last detail. Lace complemented by papel picado stationery from Bella Figura and chandeliers floating above blush floral topped tables… it’s a fresh take on the classic and we’re in love with every bit from Anna Gazda.

From Rachel Rose WeddingsRachel and Mike were one of our brave couples who plan their long distance destination wedding without ever visiting the venue first. Luckily to date we have never had a disappointed couple and Rachel and Mike were no exception. With them both living in Chicago but with destination weddings in the family, their siblings have all married in wonderful destinations such as Hawaii and Italy, the competition was on to out do the rest! Rachel and Mike had both visited Andalucia in previous years and had fallen in love with the area and once they found Cortijo Pedro Jimenez the deal was done. Being our first all American wedding with guests travelling such a long distance the pressure was on to make a truly memorable affair and week long celebration. Rachel wanted a classic and elegant affair but with some subtle Spanish influences so we settled on papel picado details on the stationery and delightful hand painted Spanish pottery vases for the centerpieces coupled with beautiful florals and classic vintage touches. These wonderful images from Anna Gazda at Limelight brought a big smile to our face and a tear to our eye when they landed on our desk as she really did capture what a wonderful days it was and just how deeply in love with each they are.
