Dreamy DIY-Filled Destination Wedding in Portugal

When the Bride-to-be writes a design and DIY blog (which is pretty fabulous by the way), you are almost guaranteed to have a wedding full of delightful details and plenty of personal touches. And this destination wedding delivered on all that and more. With friends and family from all over the globe, it’s a beautiful celebration that turned into one amazing dance party… and Happy Together Films got it all on camera. Get ready to get creative and kick up your feet with this film right here!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/243451010 600 338]

From Happy Together Films… Lauren is from UK and Joseph is an American boy, and they met in Mexico at a wedding. They are a super talented couple; Lauren handcrafted a lot of the wedding details like the table setting, stationary, etc. And Joseph did all the drawings for their groomsmen.

One of Joe’s family member decided to read a super special poem, by Roy Croft. The voice and the reading was so impressive that we decided to add it to their highlights film.

From the Bride… The way we met was definitely interesting! We often tell it as “the unlikely story of a girl from England who was living in Dublin, meeting a boy from Kentucky at a mutual friend’s wedding in Mexico — he did ‘the Bernie’ on the dance floor, but she knew she could do it better. She was right.”

With my family living in England and Joe’s in the US we decided to pick Portugal as the destination for our wedding as my parents have had a house there for the past 12 years. Portugal has always been special to us and this gave us an opportunity to share the beauty of the country with our extended family and friends. As for the venue, Quinta de Sant’Ana, which is a working farm and wine estate north of Lisbon, we knew it was where we wanted to get married the second we saw it. There was something so incredibly romantic and idealistic about the property, the way the light reflected off of the yellow buildings and the beauty of the surrounding vineyards, it was love at first sight!

I write a creative DIY blog called Paper Vines where I share craft projects, tips, and tutorials, so we were keen to put our personal touch on as many of the details as possible. From designing the stationery and calligraphing the envelopes, to lettering the wooden signage and hand making the photo booth backdrop, our wedding was one big DIY project which we absolutely loved! Our decor was rustic with a modern flair. We wanted the flowers to complement the venue, to be soft yet wild – roses and peonies with eucalyptus, olive leaves, and wildflowers . As the venue was so breathtaking, we wanted to keep it as simple as possible and let the surroundings speak for themselves.

The entire day was an incredible whirlwind. To have all our family and friends from all over the world in one place was indescribable. We tried to savour every moment, from soaking in the picture-perfect weather and location to spending time with our loved ones. My face has never hurt so much from laughing and smiling!

See What Happens When a Couple Cancels Their Wedding to Elope

After tons of wedding planning, this sweet couple came to the conclusion that a big, traditional bash in their home state wasn’t right for them, so they canceled their plans and decided to elope in Portugal instead. Erin Wilson Photography and Vanessa + Ivo came along to capture their intimate vow exchange on the balcony of Bussaco Palace Hotel, and Studio Victorias styled a dreamy private dinner for the newlyweds inspired by the beautiful blue and white tiles the bride loves and which are so prominent throughout Portugal. This elopement is so good, you just might be tempted to throw your wedding plans to the wind and hop on the next plane with your beloved.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/237801287 600 338]

From Erin Wilson PhotographyLynn and Matt are a sweet couple that booked me for their wedding in Arkansas last year. After tons of wedding planning, they realized the big local wedding wasn’t what their heart was set on, and they decided to elope in Luso, Portugal at a gorgeous palace. They made a long trip over and brought me to photograph their beautiful wedding.

Lynn was very much in love with the blue and white tile accents you can find all over Portugal and the warm welcoming culture. She wanted her wedding day to look and feel like Portugal and that played a big part in the day. Lynn studied abroad in college and made her way down to visit and fell in love with the country and always wanted to go back. When they decided to have their wedding in another country, she knew Portugal was the one. Lynn and Matt’s wedding planner incorporated her love for that blue and white tile in all the beautiful details, cake, and atmosphere. It was everything Lynn loved!

They read hand written vows to each other in the balcony of Busaco overlooking the courtyard. It was intimate and private and really special to them. We explored around the grounds taking incredible images to showcase the beautiful venue and grounds. They ended their evening with champagne toasts, cake cutting, a sweet first dance, and a private dinner just the two of them. It was such a dreamy intimate day. I’m SO in love with this wedding I wish I could go back a million times.

Say “I Do” Encircled By Blooms – AKA The Most Romantic Ceremony Scene Ever

I’ll be thinking about this beautiful ceremony idea for days; a circle of blooms symbolizing unity and eternity for the duo to say “I do” within. But details packed with deeper meaning doesn’t stop there. From the magical location to the poetry behind it all, Ideias de Veludo created an elopement inspiration that’s much more than meets the eye. Momento Cativo captured it all on camera and 24 Frames Cinematography even got in on the action live, and we’re pretty pumped to be starting our week in such a wondrous wayenjoy!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/231846901 600 338]

From Ideias de Veludo… This elopement session brings a little bit of the Portuguese history to life.

The venue was suggested by Vanessa from Momento Cativo when I was also looking for a unique place. I felt like this was a magical spot, like a secret well kept, so it was love at first sight. Obras do Fidalgo is an unfinished façade from the 18th century. Its baroque architecture is beyond beautiful.

The place inspired the rest of the planning. The idea was to transport the beauty and simplicity of the Portuguese history into this elopement wedding.

I could talk about the simple and flowy dress, the color palette, the romantic bouquet, the exquisite cake or the perfect accessories… because all of those elements were particularly chosen for a reason. But when I plan a session, I create a story in my mind, and I truly believe in that story.

So I really want to refer something more deeper and meaningful, that links all the elements, as it links all of us. The vows of this elopement wedding are two poems from two of the most important Portuguese poets: Fernando Pessoa and Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen.
These poems are about love between two people… They describe love in the most deepest and raw ways possible.

The couple of the session just need each other to celebrate their feelings. So they decide to celebrate their love together in this magical place surrounded by Portuguese history and nature. The place is as raw as the love they feel for each other.

Also, the flower circle on the floor during the ceremony symbolizes unity, wholeness, timelessness, eternity. It means they are complete, they are one. That´s what they believe in and that´s the only thing that matters.

“Love that finally breaks the raw bonds of Being
Such a simple love that increases in happiness
A love so loyal that increases in suffering”
Fernando Pessoa

“To cross the desert of the world with you
To face together the terror of death
To see the truth to lose the fear
Beside your steps I walked”
Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen

Fall Head Over Heels for the Sun-Soaked Charm of Lisbon

If you’ve never dreamed of exploring the blue, tile-infused facades of Lisbon, you probably will now. This wildly romantic shoot captures the unabashed beauty of Portugal. And even more than the sun-soaked pastels, the charm of Lisbon, or the insanely gorgeous images captured by Brancoprata, is this sweet, sweet couple. Pore through this destination engagement of Jaquelyn Clark and her love as they travel the pretty, cobblestoned streets hand-in-hand.

From the Bride… My fiancé, Justin, and I have been together for eleven years now, so I’m sure you can imagine the excitement surrounding our proposal from friends and family alike when we (finally) decided to take that next step. It’s something we had discussed for years, but neither one of us was ever really in any huge rush to make it “official”. We had already happily committed to each other for life, we owned our home together, and we were already raising the sweetest ball of fluff in puppy format… I really didn’t think that much would change once we got engaged, but truly feel as if we’ve hit some invisible reset button. In all honesty, we’ve both been on cloud nine ever since – almost like falling in love all over again. It truly is the most incredible feeling.

We picked our venue, our date, and booked our photographer, shortly after getting engaged, and then decided to take the summer off to really soak in this beautiful phase of our lives before digging deep into all things wedding planning.

With a trip to Portugal on the horizon, we both agreed that it’d be a unique, and unforgettable, experience to capture our engagement photos in the picturesque streets of Lisbon. Enter: Branco Prata – arguably some of the most talented folks we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. They captured our essence and our love in a way that I didn’t realize was possible, and I know with absolute certainty that we’ll cherish every last one of these photos for as long as we live.

Needless to say, Portugal now holds a particularly special place in our lives. And we can’t wait to head back to celebrate anniversaries and milestones alike whenever the opportunity presents itself.

From Branco Prata… When Jacquelyn first contact us and talk about their plans of visiting Portugal, we were beyond excited. We’ve been following Jacquelyn on Social Media for several years now and we are huge fans of her sense of style and unique aesthetics, when it comes to interior design.

We met the couple in the historic part of Lisbon, near Chiado and from there we spend a couple of hours chasing the beautiful light and exploring the streets of Lisbon. It was a wonderful afternoon and we couldn’t be more happy to finally met this adorable couple in such a special time in their lives.

A Dreamy Bridal Shoot We Can’t Take Our Eyes Off Of

Inspired by a romantic classic (“Notting Hill”) and a beautiful song, Ideias de Veludo created this dreamy scene before us. With flowing fabrics, gorgeous blooms, candles and more, it’s a room we could get cozy in for quite awhile, and so, luckily for us, Momento Cativo captured it all, from top to bottom. So if you’re looking for us this weekend, well, this gallery is where we’ll happily be.

From Vera of Ideias de Veludo:

“She
May be the reason I survive
The why and wherefore I’m alive
The one I’ll care for through the rough in ready years
Me
I’ll take her laughter and her tears
And make them all my souvenirs
For where she goes I’ve got to be
The meaning of my life is
She”

This session was inspired by the most romantic love story of all times, “Nothing Hill” and the music “She” that eternalizes the importance of a simple woman in a simple man’s life.

Although the focus is on her, the visual inspiration was definitely the final scene of the story, the couple on the bench in the most perfect English garden. On that note, the idea was to transport nature, innocence and pure love to the indoor session, but exploring a more elegant, intimate and feminine essence. That’s why the chosen color palette was pastel tones with shades of pink, and the floral design is flowing and organic. Also, the bridal styling and accessories are very delicate and romantic to match this intimate moment.

The woman on the session is loved for what she is, so she feels particularly beautiful, serene, and grateful to marry this man. The love letter he dedicates to her with the lyrics of the music, means what she represents in his life and this kind of love gives her the beauty and the confidence to be herself. And who doesn’t want to feel like this?

A Luxury Wedding Set Against the Garden Mazes of a Palace

From the Photographer… As a wedding photographer in Lisbon this city is one of those capitals in the world, that is surrounded by a veil of mystery but once unveiled it is a shock of pleasure. Centuries of history manifested through its architecture, culture, gardens, art, music etc. Tiled paintings that exhibit themselves and stand the test of time on its walls at a touch of a finger.. The Fronteira Palace in Lisbon is certainly one of those. The noble Fronteira Palace stands majestic with its red facade and exhibits its splendour through the silence of its magnificent gardens, pond and the artistry of its tiled walls. For Fatima and Robb their luxury destination wedding in Lisbon became a dream come true. Jasmine Lazzari from The Wedding Company Portugal, was their wedding planner and she had the key to all those secret places and waits for the right couple to bring them alive. The perfectly cultivated garden, with its labyrinths provides the perfect backdrop for this refined luxury ceremony in Lisbon. As a film wedding photographer in Lisbon for me it is heaven!! It gives one a delightful sense of frenzy knowing there are so many photographs to be taken. Fronteira Palace offers an ideal location for a couple who wishes to share their love with their family and friends. Through the elegance and beauty of another time past. They are not only accompanied by their guests but also by tiled paintings, each one a reference to Lisbon’s history. The cultivated gardens, the decadent stone stairs etc. The classical elegance of the Palace allows the luxury wedding planner in Lisbon to continue to maintain the essence of the scenery by adding blue ceramic hand painted plates and light blue glasses on the tables. And to contrast the natural colours of the Palace and garden; red, greens and blues. The tables and verandas are adorned with rows of delicious pastel coloured flowers, that balance the strength of colour. Class, elegance with a touch of vintage are some of the elements in the planning and well reflected in the fine art photographs.

From the Cinematographer… Mónica and Pedro live in London and our first contact was via Skype. We talked 5 minutes about the wedding and the rest of the time about them, us, about traveling and dreams. On the second time we met, on a sunny day at Jardim do Torel in Lisbon, Mónica and Pedro had two cold beers waiting for us before going on a walk in the city. They had a wedding exactly like them, super relaxed and fun! Going back to Quinta de Sant’Ana is always a pleasure and it fitted perfectly with Mónica and Pedro’s mood.

From the Photographer… Pedro and Rodrigo both live in London, but Rodrigo is Mexican and Pedro is Portuguese. They had decided to organize a full wedding weekend in Portugal. The first day, they held a religious ceremony only for close family and friends. The ceremony was held by a progressive priest, who had flown specifically from Brooklyn. This was immediately followed by a gorgeous welcome dinner at Palacio da Sao Vicente, an old covent in the very center of Lisbon. The second day was the wedding ceremony for a broader group of friends and family, held at glorious Penha Longa Resort, in Sintra. Sintra is one of Portugal’s jewels, and beauty is at every corner. Pedro and Rodrigo had trusted The Wedding Company Portugal for planning and design, and they did an amazing job. The ceremony was so emotional with amazing vows exchanged on both sides.

This is Pedro’s vows as an example:

That day. That day we met. That day when I looked at you. That minute I looked into your eyes. Just at you. I knew it. I knew it right then and there. I knew it was going to be forever. I knew life would not be the same before and after. I knew a page had turned, a chapter was ending and another one was beginning. I knew there was going to be life before and after. Before and after you. It took me all this years to be prepared for you. I was not waiting for you. But I was hoping you existed. So all this wait was worth it. I can now say, in front of our family and our friends, in front of all the people that has shaped our lives to this day that I am ready for you. And I am ready for us. I want you to know that I am the best version of myself when I am with you. I laugh more, dance more, smile more, dream more alongside you. I want to read more, travel even more, eat more – yes, eat more – jump more, dare more. I cry a lot more and a lot less. With you stars are brighter and there are more of them. Days are longer. Rainy days are good after all. You teach me everyday the secret of being happy. It’s a choice. Being happy is a choice. And you chose to be happy. With me. And because of that where there was a house there’s now a home. And where there was life there’s now a family. You and I. And starting today, the rest of our lives. As i was preparing for tonight, I remembered the simple lyrics of a country song. That’s right. No philosopher, no writer, no nobel prize. Just a country singer… and it says:

Sitting here tonight,
By the fire light,
It reminds me I already have more than I should. I don’t need fame, no one to know my name,
Just two arms around me, heaven to ground me,
And a family that always calls me home,
Four wheels to get there, enough love to share
And a sweet sweet song
At the end of the day, I have a life that’s good. My love. I have a life that’s good. With you.

See What Happens When Professional Pastry Chefs Elope

What do you get when the masterminds behind T Bakes get married with Brancoprata behind the lens? Why you get the sweetest elopement in the entire world. A seaside ceremony complete with plenty of wow-worthy moments, it’s a day that you’re sure to love. For not only did this darling pair bake their own wedding cake, but they also got to eat it too. See it all (including their sweet picnic inspired reception) in The Vault!

From the Bride and Groom…Our wedding was intimate and meaningful, a spiritual experience unlike anything we’ve ever felt before. We are very private people and so felt like our wedding would have to be authentic to who we are. It was not about the dress, the venue or even the cake! It was about this bond between two people madly in love. It was about celebrating our lives together through the most simple and raw connection – it was about celebrating the beauty of love in its essence. Once we realized that all we needed was to have the person we love by our side, everything fell into place!

Eloping allowed us to just be ourselves. We took in the time and the meaning of every step along the way! From discovering an island with dear friends Sofia & André, going on long swims in the morning, knitting a bridal piece, foraging flowers and fruits, taking pictures, baking our very own cake to cooking our wedding dinner are memories we will always cherish.

The ceremony was powerful and emotional, a true reflection of love that ended by the sea where we exchanged the vows we wrote for each other. It was a privilege to have our beloved friends blessing our sacred union, witnessing these soulful moments and making them even more magical through their artistry and grace! We are forever grateful for their friendship! We were beyond excited to be married! Those were days filled with pure happiness that still lingers in our everyday and we believe will last a lifetime.

From Love Is My Favorite Color… Rebekah and Leigh travelled all the way from Australia to get married at the Bride’s parents’ hometown in Portugal.

Rebekah was born in Australia but never lost sight of her Portuguese roots. In fact, that particular aspect set the mood for the entire wedding. They wanted their guests to witness the raw beauty of their ancestor’s little village, show them some of the most amazing Portuguese traditions and lure them with the amazing food and unforgettable wine the Portuguese are also known for.

Rebekah and Leigh are the sweetest couple on earth and one of the kindest we’ve ever met. Most of all, they wanted everyone to feel welcome, at home and at ease. The love they have for each other spread around creating a very romantic and relaxed atmosphere.

Blending gems like Balenciaga shoes, Silk and Willow ribbons, The Mrs Box, Tiffany’s jewelry, and Dior accessories in such a rustic environment definitely gave them a new and unexpected twist! Beauty really is everywhere, you just have to look around with good eyes.

The #1 Reason Every Mama Should Do a Photoshoot with Her Baby

As we approach Mother’s Day and get ready to shower the most important women in our lives with love, lots of love, this sweet shoot from Miss Figuette is the perfect reminder to stop and smell the roses. Whether you are a new mom, prepping to snuggle in close with your babies, a seasoned vet or celebrating your leading ladies that have made you who you are, don’t forget to capture those gorgeous memories that literally go by at a million miles a minute.

Miss Figuette was born from the desire to capture the bonds that unite the families, free from the nonessentials and focused on what matters the most. We believe in slow living and take that approach to photography, documenting the beauty of the authentic moments on film.

This shoot captures Maria Guedes, a Portuguese fashion and lifestyle blogger and her sweet daughter Pia on a date.

Maria works mostly from home but due to her super successful blog she struggles to have quality time to be with her little ones. This shoot was the perfect excuse to log off for a couple of hours and be on a date with her daughter.

The subtlety of the blissful interactions between them shows the love they have for one another and the beauty of a cosy, slow monday morning.

This is the moment to reclaim time and spend it in whatever ways bring us happiness.

A Portugal Wedding Straight From a Fairytale (Castle Included!)

I’ve always known the duo behind Brancoprata could work some serious wedding magic, but this day is what I personally deem off-the-charts. They brought all my fairytale dreams to life at Pousada Viana Do Castelo, not to mention a sweet ending to the celebration created by T Bakes. I mean, a dreamy gown, castle views, and this handsome fur baby – could you ask for anything more? I think not.

From BrancoprataThis wedding day was a dream. From the entire team involved, to the venue location and especially the couple. In our first meeting with Andrea and Oscar we immediately connected with them, not only because we have similar taste in music and movies (go Arcade Fire and Wes Anderson) but also because we loved every single detail they planned for their special day. From getting ready with their closest friends and family, to the bride walking down the aisle with her young brother, to dance the night away to their favorite dj, everything fell in the right place. The vision for this wedding was almost immediate, a mix from French romance with an outdoor ceremony facing the beautiful city of Viana do Castelo.

The lush greens and florals made quite an impact at the ceremony site and for the dinner area, an elegant room at Pousada de Santa Luzia, the timeless and romantic inspiration set the tone. A stunning cake by extraordinaire designer Tânia Sérgio from T Bakes was the final touch to this delicate and elegant affair.

Southern Portugal Summer Wedding

These two were meant for a destination wedding on the beach. Those smiles alone prove it. And their sweet family and friends were able to share in those smiles with them, destination style, in beautiful Portugal to be exact. Thanks to French Grey PhotographyTHE VAULT gallery makes me want to dig my toes in the sand and hop on the love train. Join me here!

From French Grey PhotographyStacey and Rich treated their closest friends and family to a stunning wedding day filled with the amazing summer rays that only the south of Portugal can deliver. The Algarve coast is an amazing spot for summer weddings; great landscapes, friendly locals, and nothing but the best first class hospitality. For a photographer it is a region filled with diverse landscapes and beautiful historical buildings that make capturing a wedding or an engagement truly breathtaking.

The 5-starred Sheraton hotel in the PINE CLIFFS area of the Algarve, is a place that once you discover, you never want to leave. It has everything a 5-starred wedding event needs. Great vendors and views all on site! I hope to visit this amazing venue again with many more happy couples!

I was honored to be a part of Stacey’s and Rich’s emotional wedding day, full of tradition, good friends and great food! Not to mention an amazing sunset and a fabulous couples session on their private beach!

From The Bride…Rich and I vacationed in Portugal shortly after our engagement in August of 2014, and we fell in love with the stunning views at Pine Cliffs/Sheraton Algarve. The rugged red cliffs, gorgeous blue water, amazing coast line, and the the zen-like pines made a strong impression on us. We wanted a small, intimate wedding where we can share our special day with our family and close friends over food, drinks, and laughter. It was important for us to be able to spend quality time with each of our guests and let them know how much we appreciate them for being a part of our lives. We were very lucky to have friends and family join us from Asia, Europe, and the US for our wedding.

Summer Blush + Peach Wedding in Portugal

Pantone recently named “rose quatrz” one of the projected IT colors for 2016, so we’re pretty certain this feminine hue is here to stay. Paired with the perfect shade of peach, it’s the color palette of this Portugal-set celebration captured by André Teixeira of Brancoprata and Hugo Teregeira of FullCut. Featuring a talented bride who designed everything from the invites to the signage, you’ll find endless inspiration inside THE VAULT.

From BrancoprataWhen Jennifer and Francisco decided to get married they knew they wanted to be hands-on with all things wedding related! Jennifer is an architect and she is highly creative and has a good eye for great design, so it was no surprise when she designed her wedding invitations and all the paper details, even the beautiful calligraphy for the table names and place cards. But that was not the end of it – her mother did the ring pillow and the all the flower girl dresses, and her father did the cornhole boards. Creativity and talent runs in the family!

For Jennifer and Francisco, the most important thing was to make sure their guests enjoyed the day at Palácio da Lousã. Their ceremony was at noon, so they had plenty of time for afternoon cocktails and to cut the cake as the sun went down!

From Love Is My Favorite ColorGiselle and Pedro were blessed with the greatest gift: they are expecting a little baby. This wedding is all about sublime happiness. Motherhood has that effect on people. They got married on a stunning eighteenth century property in Portugal and had lots of beautiful little details but more importantly, the love they share is magical and the core ingredient to this so very special wedding. That powerful energy embraced all the people around them in an unforgettable atmosphere of pure love.

At cocktail you could hear the laughs, cheering and joy of all the guests. I guess they absorbed the good vibes and were also amazed with the beauty of the venue. At sunset the light was amazing… the long dinner tables were set up between the coloured rose bushes and marigold flowers, close to the traditional orange orchard. The mood was perfect to enjoy a very good traditional home cooked dinner, another highlight at this wedding. The famous portuguese wine was the perfect prelude to a very lively party, held in the venue´s ancient wine cellar. Today, it is very comforting to look back at these images and hold on to that magic… After all, these pieces of life are the soul of what we do.

Lisbon Palace Destination Wedding

You know what’s guaranteed to send your wanderlust into overdrive? A Greg Finck wedding. This time around he’s taking us on an adventure to Lisbon with a gallery that’ll make you start planning your hypothetical destination wedding immediatelyThe Wedding Company pulled off every design detail and inside THE VAULT you’ll find just the pretty your Pinterest board was looking for.

From Jasmine Lazzari of The Wedding Company… Sofia and James, both living in London, decided to have a destination wedding in Lisbon, Portugal. Living in London, they crave the sunny climate and one of their musts was to have an outdoor location with history and culture. Sofia’s heritage is part Portuguese, so it was a natural decision for them.

I instinctively knew that they would fall in love with the Palace location in Lisbon. And so they married in a 17th century palace built in 1606. Filled with original Portuguese 17th and 18th century paneled tiled walls, it served as the perfect backdrop for their entire celebrations. From the outside, it is a very unassuming location, and guests were wowed once they entered the gardens and walked into the ceremony area. It was like having an art gallery on all the walls. Breathtaking and rich in color and detail.

The civil ceremony area was the only area that had a huge custom made hedge wall, as the original wall was too bare. I wanted to add a soft cover for the ceremony area, so we had white linen dropped across, which with the breeze made gentle waves as the guests waited for the bride.

Using Eucalyptus leaves and white delphiniums to add a bit of height and elegance for the ceremony area. For the dinner area I used in season flowers, hydrangeas white and blue, with cream/white roses.

The brides preferred a white and gold color palette. The look and style was very subtle and elegant so I sourced a heavy white cotton textured table linen, and offset these with gold plated table chargers, the bread dish and cutlery. The look was extremely chic, and I only added a with a hint of blue hydrangea to the centerpieces to give a warmer feel to the table. As it was an outdoor dining experience, we hung larger sized fairy lights overhead and keep the candles in glass containers as to give a larger effect of light.

The cherry on top of the wedding (visual wise) was the stunning cake. A 3-tier lemon cake covered in edible gold leaf, a middle tier, simple and elegant, and a top tier, with hand-piped lace detail. The topper was a bouquet of handmade sugar flowers ; white parrot tulips, hydrangea & buds. The cake was presented on a silver cake plateau, so the mix of metals gave it a more modern feel.

From Love Is My Favorite ColorFiona and Jon had an amazing intimate wedding at one of the most beautiful ceremony venues in Portugal, the Senhora da Rocha cliff top, in the Algarve.

The legend says the chapel was built after the apparition of the Virgin in that exact location. Believing or not, the fact is that rocky line towards the sea isn’t indifferent to anyone. That magical place was what made them come all the way from South Africa, together with their family and closest friends. Witnessing their love celebration in such an inspiring setting like that really gave everyone goose bumps… it was a truly special and emotional moment.

Both Fiona and Jon’s Mothers (and a team of her friends) also played a very important role in making this a one of a kind celebration.Fiona’s Mom spent countless hours making the beautiful headpiece for the Bride. She was also hands on with all the floral arrangements. The olive branches were sourced from the surrounding farms and all the glass ware, candles and slate settings imported from the UK. And she also managed to design and make all the wedding stationary.Jon’s Mom, spent hours sewing and making the beautiful linen table clothes, napkins and the thrown me confetti bags with Linen sourced from South Africa. This labour of love really showed what becoming a family is all about and truly melted our hearths.

Although, I also have to say I was swooning over Fiona’s Jewellery has soon has I laid my eyes on them…That mix of vintage, boho chic and nature inspired jewels is truly unforgettable…She wore a Vintage Gold bracelet from her Mum and a gold chain with sea glass given to her by her soon to be husband Jon on that day. He had it made by a designer in Cape Town. The rings were a mix of vintage gold bands sourced from UK antique shops and they were all beyond a woman’s dream.Fiona is herself an amazing wedding photographer. Sharing that bond really made us have a unique connection and being part of their magical celebration made us feel special, so this is one of those weddings we will never forget…

Ethereal Countryside Wedding Inspiration

A composition of ethereal gowns and gorgeous backdrops is a show-stopping combo, but add in André Teixeira, Brancoprata behind the vision and you’ve got yourself one out of this world editorial. I’m talking gorgeous T Bakes treats and organic details that’ll draw you in, because this gallery is one that’ll have you pinning for days.

From Sofia Ferreira at BrancoprataT he inspiration behind this ethereal wedding editorial came from the beautiful venue, Convento de Sanpayo, located in the North of Portugal, very close to Spain.

Inspired by the quiet moments before the ceremony, we set out to curate a serene environment by creating a main character, Ana, the bride that has an extremely sense of insight and appreciation of family traditions.

The color palette was inspired by the surrounding landscapes, the richness of deep blues and greens, paired with soft, luminous shades of white.

We wanted the design to feel immensely light and airy while remaining timeless and elegant! The wedding dress designed exclusively for this shoot explored the beauty of simplicity and the importance of family heirlooms.

Lush florals with a variety of textures helped us achieve an even more natural look to the table setting. Even the sugar flowers on top of the beautiful wedding cake look real!

From BrancoprataOur story, like so many other stories begins with a dream… Celine, our “bride” for this editorial, wishes to see the ocean for the first time in her life… she lingers in the yard of her family house, enjoying the warm sunshine but only one thought goes through her mind… the day she will finally see the ocean!

We were inspired by a poem from Shuchoon-Mo, and by the natural elements that surround us , the Portuguese countryside and beaches, the family traditions and above all, the importance of creating memories for our future couples.

“I walk on the winter beach
from here to there
and beyond where the beach ends
past indifferent sea gulls
over beached kelps
over bleached sea shells
to the sound of crushing waves
to the call of ebbing memories
I walk on the winter beach
I shall go
I must go
alone
beyond where the beach ends”
