Netherlands Engagement Shoot from Anouschka Rokebrand Photography

Oh my heavens, this couples’ love story is straight out of a story book. Do yourself a favor and set aside some time today to get lost in their international love affair – trust me, it’s worth the read. And these images from Anouschka Rokebrand Photography? Equally as amazing. Put them together, and we have one perfect post on our hands. See even more here.

From Holly (our bride to be)…Dirk and I met in Germany in 2008. I was at the end of a nine month study/travel adventure and Dirk had just arrived to do a three month internship. I met him by chance one afternoon, realizing (happily!) that he was the new flatmate of a good friend of mine. The moment I laid eyes on him I knew he was different from the rest. After a whirlwind six weeks, it was time to pack my bags and head back home to Australia, albeit reluctantly. We were in touch every day for four weeks, and realizing I wasn’t quite ready to be back home, I spent my last dollar on a flight back to Europe. After securing a job in London within days, I headed straight to the Netherlands to see him. Those first moments spent together at the airport after seeing each other after a month apart were some I will never forget. Our chemistry was palpable. We couldn’t take our eyes off each other! I stayed the weekend, then extended my stay to a week. I ended up staying two months while waiting for my job in London to start. Those two months were the most romantic of my life, and the most fun either of us have ever had. Naturally, leaving him to go and work in London was difficult, but I commuted almost every weekend to see him during that time, and he would visit me there too. After nine months, a decision had to be made. Return to my studies in Australia and risk never seeing him again, or start a new adventure in the Netherlands? As he was completing a masters degree at the time, I knew the only option was for me to take the leap. On 1 January, 2009 I arrived in the Netherlands, bright red suitcase in hand, to be with him. It was the best decision I ever made. I was, and still am, crazy about him. He asked me to marry him on boxing day 2012, nearly two years after we welcomed our little girl, Lola, into the world.

My work as a stylist came into play for our late summer engagement shoot, though natural, organic and effortless romance was central to the overall look and feel. We chose a local venue that was meaningful to us for the shoot. The first nine months of our relationship was spent sharing a bicycle, and we have many fond memories of that time. We rode all over the place, Dirk behind the handlebars and me on the back! So incorporating my army green bike was a must. One of my absolute favourite things to do is picnic, so I wanted our shoot to be based around a cosy and effortless picnic setting. We ate different types of cheese, crackers, blueberries and figs with red wine while our amazing photographer Anouschka Rokebrand snapped us enjoying a quiet and romantic picnic together beneath a gigantic oak tree. There is always a chill in the air in the late summer, so we incorporated a few cosy blankets to snuggle into. To add a touch of whimsy and romance to our late summer shoot, I had a gorgeous floral wreath made out of berries, tiny flowers and foliage. I adore wreaths and will be incorporating them into our wedding in the spring of next year, so it became an element I wanted to weave into the shoot. Late afternoon sunshine gave our images a beautiful soft and romantic light.

From Anouschka Rokebrand PhotographyI met Holly a few months ago when she contacted me to colaborate on a few editorial shoots for Style me Pretty Living together (she’d been referred to me by the wonderful ladies over at SMP Living). We clicked instantly and had a blast working on the editorial shoots. I was incredibly honored that she trusted me to capture her engagementsession for her and Dirk. They are such a cute and amazing couple and we had the best time with them!

I love the organic feel of the shoot thanks to Holly’s wonderful styling. The amazing Katie Larcombe did Holly’s hair and make-up for the shoot and I always love working with Katie.

Amsterdam Wedding at Huize Scherpenzeel from SugarLove Weddings

This pretty Amsterdam fête takes me to my happy place. Whether it’s the yellow, or the sunshine or the stunning captures by SugarLove Weddings, I’m not sure. But it all adds up a big ol’ smile I can’t seem to wipe off my face. It’s the kind of castle affair most girls dream of, and there’s lots more waiting for you right over here.

From SugarLove WeddingsCathy and Eelco were married in De Witte Holevoet, Scherpenzeel, The Netherlands and chose Australian Photography studio SugarLove Weddings to cover their day. It was love at first sight for Cathy & Eelco when they met in a small pub in Mudgee, New South Wales. Eelco is Dutch and Cathy, Australian but chose a white castle one hour outside Amsterdam in the Netherlands for their special day. The day was bright and cheery with their chosen theme colour of yellow throughout the details and bridal garments. One of the most special moments of the preparations was when Cathy together with her Bridesmaids, Mother and Grandmother went flower picking the day before the wedding to create the bouquets corsages and table decorations. Guests flew in from all over the world to celebrate.

Netherlands Photo Shoot from Anouschka Rokebrand + Jill La Fleur

We can always count on Jill La Fleur to bring us a big dose of pretty inspiration. She’s a heavy hitter in the design department and her weddings and photo shoots prove that time and again. This time, those skills are showcased in an uber romantic, stylized shoot full of blush and ivory and a beautiful European flair. She teamed up with a talented group of vendors including florals by Don Florito and photography by Anouschka Rokebrand to bring you romance, Netherlands style. See so much more right here.

From Jill La FleurWhen I was contacted by Anouschka about guest speaking & putting together a styled shoot for the Dutch Wedding Congress, I jumped at the opportunity! I was so honored to be a part of the first European Wedding Event for Vendors! For the shoot, I focused on soft ivory & blush tones, to keep a romantic feel.

For the table, I layered several linens from La Tavola & added blush colored glassware & gold flatware from Casa De Perrin. I finished the table off with a blush & ivory sequin chevron runner, which gave the table a romantic feel with a  modern twist. The florist, Giada of Don Florito did a beautiful job blending the romantic & modern look by creating a centerpieces with blush colored garden roses and tulips. Amber of Pitt Bull & Posies created a beautiful, romantic yet modern letter press invite suite that went perfectly with the table.

For this shoot, not only did I bring in some of my favorite vendors that I work with all the time here in the US, but I wanted to incorporate some European designers as well.  Delphine Manivet , an amazing wedding dress designer from Paris sent along a beautiful lace dress, Rietbergh from The Netherlands, provided the men’s beautiful custom suit & Jannie Baltzer from Denmark, who is one of my all time favorites, provided a beautiful hair piece from her new collection. Thank you so much to Anouschka Rokebrand, Vivian ter Huurne and the Dutch Wedding Industry Organisation (NTBO) for inviting me be a part of this beautiful event & thank you Anouschka for all of your help & creating such beautiful images! I can’t wait for next years event!

From Anouschka Rokebrand: I’ve been a huge fan of Jills work for years and working with her on this shoot was a dream come true for me. We had a wonderful real couple modelling for us, Daphne and Ferry. They did such a great job! We had 4 seasons in one day the day of the shoot including rain, hail and sunshine. Luckily we finished the shoot with the latter. The shoot took place on the beautiful grounds of Buitenplaats Amerongen, which was also the venue for the entire 2 day conference.
We were thrilled to have Jill join us for the Dutch Wedding Congress and we hope we get to see much more of her in The Netherlands!

Amsterdam Wedding from Jennifer Hejna

A wedding in Amsterdam sounds pretty enough as it is, but when you sprinkle in some unexpected sunshine and a couple that are simply meant to be – that’s when the pretty enters an entirely new level. A level I just happen to adore. And can you blame me? Each image from Jennifer Hejna is just as pretty as they come, and you can see exactly what I mean right here.

From Jennifer HejnaThey met some years ago during a Basketball game in North Holland. He was a player and she was a cheerleader for his team. Though they are both Indonesian they didn’t really spend time together after the game. In 2008 they met again during an Indonesian concert and somehow they ended up in the same group going home. He called her later that week to ask if she wanted to come with him on the first date and that is where this beautiful love story started. Living in Amsterdam but being both from Indonesia Winny and Tommy decided to have a modern wedding in their chosen home city with a lot of traditional Indonesian elements.

I was prepared that this wedding might be the one with the most rain and storm that I ever photographed. I mean a wedding in November in Amsterdam doesn’t really sound like a lovely sunny day. Sometimes you just have to let it go and get surprised. Their wedding day was a beautiful sunny and warm autumn day in Amsterdam and we had the chance to start the portrait session close to the church in Amsterdam’s famous Vondelpark. From there we went by car through the city to get some Amsterdam inspired portraits. Just in time before we started to freeze too much we went back to their reception where the beautiful wedding cake was already waiting for the newlyweds together with a big crowd of family and friends from all over the world.

It was a very special and beautiful day where I even had the chance to speak four different languages. The combination of all modern elements and the Indonesian tradition made this the perfect day for an Indonesian couple living in Amsterdam.

Netherlands Wedding by Anouschka Rokebrand Photography

Let’s take a trip to the Netherlands, shall we? Trust me, it’s a trip you want to take, and one we get to see through the talented lens of Anouschka Rokebrand Photography. It’s full of details that make you smile, blooms so pretty you will blush and a dress that makes you want to twirl, and it’s all sitting pretty right here!

From Anouschka Rokebrand PhotographyCarmen and Chris got married on June 30th at the gorgeous venue Castle De Hooge Vuursche in Baarn, The Netherlands. The theme of the day was vintage chic with colors of pale pink and white. Carmen had planned every little detail, and reading Style me Pretty on a daily basis was a great source of inspiration! Wedding planner Vivian ter Huurne had executed all the styling beautifully. They had vintage suitcases as decoration all through the castle, lots of beautiful fresh flowers, old books and old love letters — great vintage touches. All the tables were draped with lace fabric that was held together by pink ribbons and pearls. Vases with fresh flowers hung from the balcony outside. They made the gazebo themselves, and it was also draped with lace. Carmen and Chris didn’t see each other before the ceremony, so walking down the aisle with dad was a very exciting moment. Nephews Lars and Stijn walked in front of Carmen and her dad carrying a sign that said, “Uncle Chris, here comes your bride.” During the ceremony, there were pink umbrellas for the ladies to shield them from the sun. After the ceremony, all the guests waved pink ribbons with bells for their exit.

They had also made a photo wall, which was placed at the entrance. Everyone had their photo taken with a Polaroid camera, and these photos were inserted in an album as the guest book. Next to their photo, guests could write sweet messages for the newlyweds. Chantal, Carmen’s sister, baked the wedding cake — of course it was pale pink with white flowers and lace as decoration. Carmen and her sister also baked everything for the stunning dessert table that was set up during dinner. The dining tables were also gorgeous, with pink napkins, lovely fresh flowers and a beautiful seating chart placed inside a vintage suitcase. Guests who chose fish for dinner had a little pink fish dangling from their chairs. Carmen had opted for a brooch bouquet which she found on Etsy. She had a hanger made for her dress on Etsy with her new name as well. As favors, they had cupcakes in a jar labeled with their wedding logo that were also made by the bride and her sister. For guests who were staying overnight at the castle, they had little bottles of milk and chocolate chip cookies placed in their rooms to enjoy before going to sleep.

Netherlands Wedding at Fort Vuren by Anouschka Rokebrand Photography

We’re flattered to hear this bride looked to us for inspo, and tinkled pink to see that she did us proud at this pretty-as-can-be Fort Vuren garden wedding. Not only did she make the doilie cups for the lavender her guests tossed post-ceremony, she and the groom also made a time capsule in a little briefcase during their big day that they plan to open in ten years. Bellis Flowers & Decorations provided the punchy textural bouquets and florals which were placed in vintage vases collected by the gorgeous girl in the layered Pronovias gown. We know you want to see more, so knock yourself out with these knock out  Anouschka Rokebrand Photography images in the full gallery!

From Anouschka Rokebrand PhotographyThey were next door neighbors while growing up and had known each other for 12 years before they started dating. Jaap-Jene had plans to propose to Jojanneke but he just couldn’t find the perfect ring, so he designed it himself and had it made especially by Rob van der Ham. It was finished right before they went on vacation to Sicily. They had booked a romantic hotel with a sea view. One night it was simply perfect: they were drinking prosecco while sitting outside by the cliffs enjoying a beautiful sunset. Jaap figured this to be the perfect moment to pop THE question. Jojanneke happily accepted.

Their wedding day was simply gorgeous. They both love the outdoors, high grass and wild flowers. All of these elements were incorporated in their day. They chose the historic venue Fort Vuren (an ancient citadel) as their venue for the entire day. Jojanneke found a lot of inspiration on Style Me Pretty and paid a lot of attention to the details. All the stationery was designed by her. Their wedding rings are their own design also. Jaap wore cufflinks previously owned by his grandfather, and they are actually real working counting frames. Jojanneke found all the vases in thrift shops, and she collected them for months prior to the day.

The theme for the day was “live in love,” and love was incorporated in everything. The favors were packed in cute boxes (the favors were rose quartz stones) for each guest. Both the ceremony and dinner (a barbeque) were outside on the grounds of the citadel. They opted for a first look in the backyard of Jojanneke’s parents’ home, underneath Jojanneke’s favorite tree. I used the same tree to photograph her gorgeous dress in. Another personal touch was the time capsule they both created. They added personal items and letters to each other and shut the box during the ceremony. The box will be stored for the next 10 years so they can open it at a later time and be reminded of their love for each other and the special time surrounding their wedding. Jojanneke’s sister, Lotte, actually made the wedding cake herself (in just three hours!) and it looked so pretty with the “live in love” cake topper and the fresh roses. Since the citadel is located near the water, they chose to use a water taxi as transport from their home to the venue. It made a nice change from arriving by car! Jojanneke wore killer heels, but since she loves her cowboy boots, she brought those along for the photo shoot. Instead of rose petals or rice, Jojanneke had crafted little bags of doilies with fresh lavender for their exit after the ceremony. Smelled great!

Netherlands Wedding by Anouschka Rokebrand Photography

This wedding is so drop dead gorgeous that I’m having the hardest time figuring out what images from Anouschka Rokebrand Photography to share with you and what words I’ll use to describe the gorgeousness that is laid out in front of you. I could start by saying that I love the crisp and clean palette of black, white and green or that this is one of the most adorable couples I have ever seen. Or I could talk about that amazing black and white cake covered with words. Or maybe I’ll just go on and on about the amazing lighting fixtures hanging from the pretty, pretty ceiling. Like I said, I could go on and on and still not decide on my favorite part. Find yours here in the gallery!

From Anouschka Rokebrand PhotographyAndreea and Nicolae are both from Romania. They met when they had both picked up their visas at the Embassy. Andreea for Germany, Nicolae for The Netherlands. They clicked and stayed in touch. This then developed into a long distance relationship with lots of travelling back and forth. Andreea decided to pack her bags in Germany and move to The Netherlands to be with Nicolae. They said “I do” in the beautiful castle Hooge Vuursche in Baarn. One of my favorite venues to shoot in, I absolutely adore it. It’s super stylish with the beautiful chandeliers everywhere. Andreea made my day when I opened the shoebox to photograph her shoes. They’re designed by Beatrix Ong and they were super gorgeous! We did the photo session in and around the castle and we were so lucky with the weather as the rain held off until the end of the afternoon. Andreea had read a lot of wedding blogs religiously, especially Style me Pretty so there were lots of pretty details and gorgeous dinner tables (including a dessert table, so cute!) for us to photograph. The bride did all the planning and styling herself.

Netherlands Garden Wedding by Anouschka Rokebrand

This Netherlands wedding has me so completely smitten that I am not quite sure where to even begin.  I could literally go on and on for hours about all of the uber-charming details expertly crafted by Bijzondere Bruiloft.  (Personalized Granny Smith Apples!)  And that stunning garden ceremony and reception held in the bride and groom’s own orchard?  Seriously swoon-worthy.  Not to mention the lovely pink and green color palette.  Lucky for us, Anouschka Rokebrand, along with second shooter Raymond van der Pluym, was there to capture every single gorgeous moment.  So, join me in the gallery for even more!

From Anouschka RokebrandSusan and Joost got married on Saturday June 4th in their own orchard in their garden in Amstelhoek, The Netherlands. It was a glorious sunny day, the most perfect weather for an outdoor ceremony. They had chosen white and lime green as their theme colors. The atmosphere was rural but fancy, informal but very stylish. The wedding was planned by Brenda from Bijzondere Bruiloft and not a detail was overlooked.

The beautiful ceremony was hosted by officiant Pauline Krom with live music from Scarlett Arts. After the ceremony it was time for the cutting of the cake (with a special extra cake for the kids) and drinks. We had only 1 minute (seriously!) to take a few shots of the bride and groom together before they left for the boat to enjoy dinner with immediate family and close friends. After dinner the boat returned to their home where the wedding reception/party also took place in a beautifully decorated tent in the gardens. Live music was from the amazing band Boston Tea Party and during their breaks DJ Daan took over. The night ended with spectacular fireworks. The favors were personalized Granny Smith apples with their wedding logo printed on them.
