From The Bride…Shaun and I met in the chorus room of our high school when we were 15 years old. It was NOT love at first sight! But one year later, we officially started dating and began our lifelong journey of friendship and love. The years went by and we were simply there for each other—through all of life’s challenges, triumphs, struggles and successes. It was just after our eight year anniversary and the day before my birthday when Shaun proposed at a vineyard in the Virginia mountains, owned by a famous Italian winemaking family. It was fitting for Shaun to choose such a location to propose because we studied abroad together in Florence, Italy in college, and fell in love with everything Italian. In the years leading up to our engagement, we talked about the possibility of getting married in Italy as a way of introducing our favorite place to our favorite people.

After our official engagement, it was clear to Shaun and I that we really did want a small, intimate wedding, and wanted to use this time of celebration to travel with our friends and family to Italy. While it was difficult making the decision to have such a small guest list, since Shaun and I both have large families, we knew it was what we really wanted. So we began brainstorming our perfect Italian wedding that we knew would include lots of amazing food, wine, and frolicking in our beloved Florence.

Thanks to our long engagement, I had the time to plan every detail, and really think about each and every decision to be made. Shaun and I both spent many years working in the food and hospitality industry, so we knew what details to consider and prioritize to pull of a successful event and create amazing memories. Thankfully, every single one of our vendors was top notch and extremely professional, and I felt we brought together the dream team to help make our day the kind of event we wanted. We also enlisted the help of Chic Weddings in Italy, as I knew we would need assistance navigating Italian customs and culture, while seamlessly integrating customs and traditions important to us. Sara of Chic Weddings in Italy was an invaluable asset to the team, and the day would not have gone so smoothly if not for her.

After nearly two years of planning, Shaun and I arrived in Florence for a few days of fun in the city before heading off to the Tuscan countryside for three days of rest and relaxation with our friends and family. During the planning process, Shaun and I were able to fly to Italy on a venue scouting trip. Our original intention was to pick a venue inside Florence proper, because we love the city so much. Among the venues we saw, Sara insisted we take the trip out to see Borgo Stomennano. She even drove us herself! Being the stubborn girl that I am, I was not too thrilled about seeing a venue 45 minutes from Florence, but once we drove up the driveway lined with cypress trees and saw the gorgeous villa just beyond the gates, we knew our city wedding had turned into a Tuscan countryside dream. Borgo Stomennano not only was to be the location of the wedding events, but also served as accommodations for the majority of our 35 guests. We reserved the villa for three days and spent our time swimming in the infinity pool, staying up late laughing and drinking wine, and enjoying the surrounding views of the Tuscan hills and the medieval town of Monteriggioni, where we held our rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding.

Once wedding day arrived, it was as everyone says, and they day flew by so quickly. Rain threatened the entire day, and it was stressful in those first few hours making the decision to keep our plans of an outdoor wedding. But once the decision was made, I can’t remember another part of the day where Shaun and I didn’t have a goofy grin on our faces—except when my sweet groom couldn’t keep his tears at bay during practically the entire ceremony. Our ceremony was short, but meaningful as we said our vows among the olive trees. We concluded the ceremony by jumping the broom, one of our favorite parts of the day. After pictures with family and the bridal party, and strolling through the olive grove hand-in-hand for our portraits, Shaun and I were able to join our guests during the aperitif held in the gorgeous Italian gardens at the front of the villa. We will never forget when the sun settled beneath the clouds and cast the most amazing glow in the sky, with Monteriggioni in the background. Magical doesn’t even begin to describe the moment!

After the sun set, we moved to the back of the villa were the dinner table was laid out. We set the mood with chandeliers in the trees, many candles, soft and inviting music and incredible florals by La Rosa Canina. Shaun and I love good food and Shaun is a bartender who makes the most amazing craft cocktails, so the food and drinks had to be phenomenal. Galateo Ricevimenti worked with us to craft a perfect menu that included pesto lasagna, risotto with duck, filet mignon with Chianti Classico sauce and various Tuscan wines. We ended the meal by serving a traditional Italian wedding cake, millefoglie. The layers of puff pastry, Chantilly cream, and berries were assembled in front of the guests, and this moment turned out to be one of the highlights of the whole day. After the meal, we ended the evening by dancing the night away poolside and munching on a midnight snack of gelato and various Italian cookies.

As we settle into married life, and recall the day beautifully captured by Vicki Grafton and East West Production, Shaun and I cannot help but feel tremendously blessed. The years leading up to our wedding were the most stressful of our lives as I finished law school, but every second was worth it. The whole wedding week, we were filled with such peace and love for each other and our crew who surrounded us as we entered into the covenant of marriage. The wedding turned out to be even better than we ever dreamed. We are so thankful for our friends and family who all traveled a long way to celebrate with us, and the beautiful memories that were created that week. I have a feeling many more trips to Italy are in our future.

Rustic Tuscan Wedding Inspiration

The combination of the blush tulle and the romantic lace on this Anna Fuca dress had me at hello, but upon learning that this whole gorgeous scene, captured by Carla Penoncelli, was inspired and created in Tuscany, I gave up on the rest of my to-do list for the day and dove head first into all this Italian beauty. Weddings in Tuscany know their stuff and never disappoint – more in the VAULT right this way!

From Weddings In Tuscany By Chiara Sernesi… With this photoshoot we wanted to celebrate nature with a touch of whimsical magic. We transmitted a natural and organic feel in a rural working farm estate. It was surrounded by the beauty of nature and we used wildflower bouquets, with autumn’s warm colors. This shoot is a celebration of simplicity for a rustic romantic laid back couple.

Elegant Garden Wedding in Forte dei Marmi

There are very few things we love more in life than a Enzo Miccio wedding. Just look at this gallery and you’ll understand exactly why. Because when you combine the rural setting of a lush garden with the lens of Morlotti Studio, you’re in for pure wedding magic. See it unfold in THE VAULT!

From Enzo MiccioTuscany countryside is known for its hills, smell of herbs and wildflowers, and long stretches of vineyards surrounded by rows of cypress trees. It is a region of different panoramic views. In the summer, the Versilia area is especially busy in Forte dei Marmi, well known holiday resort. It is very popular in Tuscany for its gorgeous beach and summer entertainment. Classy pubs are spread along the seaside with an ancient jetty that allows romantic walks by the water.

Therefore, it is not surprising that Giangiacomo and Benedetta decided to follow their wedding planner Enzo Miccio’s advice to celebrate their special day in the enchanting Forte dei Marmi.

Their wedding celebration was breathtaking! For the ceremony, Enzo Miccio has set up an outdoor church with variety of plants and wildflowers (white gypsophila and hydrangeas). He used white wooden chairs in shabby chic style and natural decoration made by creative composition of autumn fruit – wood barrel full of chestnut and ribes plants.

The bride’s elegant wedding dress was from Enzo Miccio Bridal Collection. She was accompanied by wonderful bridesmaids, her two young daughters.

Right after the ceremony, our couple climbed into a vintage Mercedes that has taken them to the reception at Lido Bambaissa., particular for its three colors– white, red and blue – . The Catering service has improvised a nice flash mob in order to have friends, relatives and the couple dance together under the romantic Tuscany moonlight.

Elegant Italian Wedding Inspiration

The more blue, the better in my book. My favorite color by far, Amorology and Nomad Republic took the stylish shade and used it throughout this elegant shoot. From the Groom’s suit, to the beautiful tablescape and even sprinkled onto Tuscan Wedding Cake’s creation, blue shines in all its brilliance in these pics by Mademoiselle Fiona. Our VAULT is looking extra pretty these days – see it all here!

From Amorology… Our vision behind this Italian photo shoot was “Beauty and The Beholder,” reminding us that often chaos and beauty is intertwined. Inspired by the artistic culture of Florence, we teamed up with Nomad Republic for international consulting and vendor collaboration and dreamt up a design of hand-painted features and loose scribbles, with shades of inky-blue and indigo brushed onto plates and paper. Balancing vibrant colors with soft hues, dusty pink linens dressed the table while mix-matched indigo napkins brought in a playful pop of pattern.

With the rolling hills of the Tuscan hillside at La Bandita as a backdrop, Oak and The Owl created lush and flowing florals filled with texture. Using local foliage, natural greenery was woven into white blooms and infused with accents of pink and orange.

Playing with the phrase “beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” we incorporated monocles into escort cards and bridal jewelry, which paired naturally with the antique brass and metallic table details and hand held mirrors. From the calligraphy to twisting white chairs, loose and romantic touches blended beautifully with effortless hair and makeup.

Place cards were finished with gold leafing and fortunes to greet guests at the table, with sayings such as “You are enveloped in grace” and “You create magic” again reminding us that beauty is where you find it.

Getaway Guide to Tuscany from The Honeymoonist

We love everything about Italy, from the stellar food and wine to the storied landscapes and art-filled churches. The country spans multiple regions, from the tiny towns along Lake Como to the wilds of rural Sicily. But for honeymoons and destination weddings, Tuscany wins our hearts. With easy access, rolling slopes, tidy rows of cypress trees, gorgeous stone villas and medieval-era castles looking down from the hilltops, this is the Italy of your dreams.

Where To Stay

Why settle with a villa when you can have a whole town? Monteverdi Tuscany is a boutique hotel set in a hilltop village in the scenic Val D’Orcia. The 15 apartments and villas are tucked on narrow cobblestone streets that date to medieval times, and updated with perks including a swimming pool and adorable enoteca that serves up wine and cheese with epic valley views. If you want to wed here, a partnership with NYC-based David Beahm Experiences makes gorgeous weddings a breeze.

Il Salviatino is a stunning 15th-century villa perched a hillside in Fiesole, just outside Florence. Explore the birthplace of the Renaissance at your leisure (a free shuttle takes you into town at will), then return to relax by the hillside pool and enjoy an aperitif as you watch the sun set over the red-roofed city. The terraced garden has the same view, and is ideal for wedding ceremonies.

A 12th-century castle-turned-country estate, Castello de Nero sits midway between Florence and Siena, in the heart of the Chianti region. The 50 rooms feature original furnishings and frescoed walls, and the 12-century wine cellar is the perfect place for private tastings or dinner. Wander the hiking trails through the 750-acre estate, then retreat to the ESPA spa for a wine-centric couples treatment…bliss. The beautifully resorted San Michele chapel is ideal for destination vows.

What To Do

Spend a day touring the streets and churches in charming Siena, or walk through the walled town of Lucca, birthplace of Puccini; both towns date to medieval times and are well worth a day trip (at least). Wine tasting is a must is Tuscany, with loads of options. Donatello himself is rumored to have bought wine from Castello di Nipozzano, just outside Florence, while Castiglian del Bosco (owned by the Ferragamo family) produces amazing brunellos in the Val D’Orcia. This gorgeous landscape begs to be explored, by foot, bicycle, horseback–whatever makes you happy. Some roads here date back to the Roman Empire, so you are literally traveling in the footsteps of history.

Where To Eat

Tuscany has its own regional specialties, so in addition to pasta and antipasti, look for bistecca alla Florentine (grilled steak), ribolita (a thick soup with beans and cabbage), and chinghiale (salami made from wild boar). Dopolavora Le Foce in Chianchiana Terme has been a popular meeting spot in the Val D’Orcia since 1939, and serves up hearty pastas and plates accompanied by their own to-die-for olive oils.

Buca di Sant’Antonio in Lucca has been serving tortelli lucchesi (meat-stuffed pasta) since 1782, and the atmosphere (think whitewashed walls and wood-beamed ceiling hung with copper pots) is as traditional as the food. In Florence, Enoteca Pinchiorre is the only regional restaurant to have garnered three Michelin stars, due to the passion of chef-owner Annie Feolde.

What To Pack

Tuscan weather is typically mild and sunny, ideal growing conditions for grapevines and olive trees. That said, the climate is diverse and the weather changeable depending on where you are. Summer brings heat and humidity, especially in August, which is why so many Italians head out of town at that time of year. (Also, note that air conditioning is not a given in Italy as it is in the U.S., so if you’re traveling in summer, check with your hotel or venue.) Winds blow frequently and it can be downright chilly in early spring and late fall, especially in the hilltop towns that overlook the grape fields. So come prepared, with layers to take on and off.

What To Buy

It’s impossible to travel through Tuscany and not buy wine. Per U.S. customs, you can bring back one liter of wine duty-free, or more if you declare it and pay duty, which is well worth it for special bottles you can’t find at home. Much like wine, the flavor of extra-virgin olive oil changes depending on the terroir as well as how it’s produced, so if you find one you love, pick it up. Handmade leather goods are a signature of the region; we love the chic selection at Maledetti Toscani, the Montepulciano-based purveyor of leather goods since 1848. The town of Montelupo Fiorentino was one of the most important ceramics centers during the Renaissance era, and its narrow streets are lined with shops selling colorful dishes and pottery.

Tuscany Outdoor Spring Wedding

When this pastry-chef-turned-bride stumbled upon Sarah Kate’s gorgeous work on the pages of Style Me Pretty, she knew she’d found the perfect photographer for their destination wedding. And let me tell you, Sarah certainly didn’t disappoint. Set in the rolling hills of Tuscany, we’re about to embark on a celebration for the books, and THE VAULT is your one stop shop to find it all.

From The Bride…Larone and I met through mutual friends when he was living in South Florida and I was living in Georgia. Our first date was very laid back, on a random quiet Monday evening in Athens, Georgia where we went to four different restaurants. At two of those we were the only patrons there but we were completely captivated by each other we hardly noticed. Our chemistry was instant. In between him flying up to visit from Florida and my occasional trip down to Florida, Skype became our best friend as we pursued a long-distance relationship. Shortly after we began dating, I moved back to Tampa to be near my family and he received a job offer from the University of South Florida. A year and half later we got engaged and happily started planning our wedding.

After going through the painstaking process of visiting and reviewing countless different options both locally in Florida and back in our home country of Jamaica, we came to the realization that we wanted our wedding to feel simple, relaxed, intimate, and incorporate only elements that were important to us. We quickly realized a destination wedding to Italy was the best fit for us, since we could share our love of travel and adventure with our guests.

A short while before we were engaged, I was visiting Style Me Pretty looking for cake inspiration (I am a pastry chef) when I came across a stunning Tuscany elopement photographed by Sarah Kate. I instantly fell in love with her artistic style and her ability to capture emotion in every single picture and I shared the photos with Larone. Shortly after we got engaged, Larone reached out to Sarah Kate and booked her as our photographer as a surprise to me!

Working with Sarah Kate from day one was such a seamless endeavor. Most of our conversations were by email, and with her living in Texas we also communicated by Facetime. We never actually met her in person until the day before our wedding day when she showed up to the wedding venue, yet it seemed like we knew her forever. She epitomizes what photographic vision should be and her laid back style made it unusually easy to work with her. Sarah Kate’s fiancé Josh Aull, also a professional photographer, also accompanied her on the trip and we were fortunate enough to have two outstanding photographers to capture our day.

For our location, we chose Hotel Borgo Casabianca in Asciano, Italy which is nestled in the rolling hills of Tuscany. For my dress, I found an elegant two piece fitted lace dress by Allure that I paired with a bouquet or rich red and pink tones. For my something old, I wore my paternal grandmother’s wedding ring that she had passed down to me.

For dinner, we treated our guests to an authentic Italian menu which started with traditional appetizers like bruschetta, melon wrapped in prosciutto, all paired with Prosecco. We sat at one long feasting with all of our guests and served handmade pastas, truffled encrusted steak, and fresh fruit drenched in Lemoncello. Our wedding cake was a delicious Mille-feuille.

My favorite moment of the day was was just after we exchanged vows, Sarah Kate led us to a spot she had scouted out the day before. It had the most incredible views of the Tuscan countryside and as Larone and I walked through the fields at sunset, just the two of us, I felt completely overwhelmed by the awesomeness of it all. It was exactly the fun and romantic adventure Larone and I had dreamt of!

I want to particularly thank our contact at Borgo Casabianca, AnnaMaria Ercolani, whose efforts and accommodation made it all possible. Finally, to our family and friends, we are eternally grateful to them for making the trip to Italy and joining us in a perfectly intimate, perfectly us, wedding celebration!

Elegant Tuscany Villa Wedding + Boudoir Inspiration

You know what every Monday afternoon deserves? A shoot like this one from Thecablookfotolab transporting us to a destination with an honestly pure beauty—in this case, the rolling hills of Tuscany and a charming spot like Villa BarberinoBianco Weddings set forth to create a truly natural look for this striking bride and succeeded, from her fern crown and SIBO Designs veil to the textured Pronovias dress. The Vault is filled with sooo much more.

From ThecablookfotolabI loved working on this story of the bride in the middle of the beauty of one of the most picturesque regions of Italy – Tuscany – on the one of the most beautiful villas I’ve ever seen – villa Barberino.

The story starts with the boudoir session in a lace Oysho body that looks so delicate and tender on the pale and soft skin of the bride. The SIBO design lace veil works so good together with it, they seem to be made for each other.

The bride is having light fruit & croissant Italian breakfast in the middle of nature, on the grass, in the garden. She looks in the mirror and does the final touches of her styling (that was carefully done by MUAH artist – Lidija Malinovskaja). She wears a green crown in a easy and natural way. And it seems that she was walking in the garden and made it for herself.

Then she puts on her amazing Pronovias wedding dress that seems to be made of 1.000.000 little butterflies. She looks classy & ethernal in this long sleeved gown with a long tail. The final touch of the look are the SIBO design flower crown that has the same “butterflies” on it. It makes her look like a little princess. And neutral white&green bouquet from Bianco Wedding in her hands looks so perfect.

The inspiration of the whole shooting comes from nature&simplicity. We didn’t want to overload the youth & the natural beauty of our bride and of the venue. So that all the decor and styling are very calm, in white&green colours and mostly of all the natural materials. And only a drop of gold foil comes out on the invitation suit from Greyberry that reminds us of the classic wedding ring colour. Also the invitation envelopes are made in a very organic and weightless manner: transparent & covered with gorgeous hand written calligraphy.

From Bianco WeddingsThe main aim in our shooting was to show the natural beauty of our bride. So, in floral decorations we used simple, but elegant plant crown and romantic, but sophisticated wedding bouquet, made of lovely white peonies and green succulents, which added just the right amount of texture to the overall look.

Rustic + Romantic Italian Wedding

Tucked away in Tuscany, Wee Three Sparrows captured one truly significant celebration. From Wee Three Sparrows… In April I had the honour of travelling to Tuscany to capture the wedding of Stephan and Julie, clients who became friends. Their wedding was full of family love, beautiful details and the most spectacular views, from the castle ceremony to hor d’oeuvres overlooking the hills of Tuscany.

From The Bride…Once we decided to go with a destination wedding, we considered a few options, and after discussing it with one of my best friends, who lived in Florence for art school, we realized that Tuscany would be a perfect setting for our small family wedding, since it would be more quiet in the spring than during high season, it would be a relaxing but less commercial spot than other destination locations, and if we could set it in a villa, it would be a perfect family vacation. When we were planning, we kept saying that our vision for the wedding was a sense of home. As well, my parents met and fell in love in Europe while on a tour, and had one of their first dates in Italy, so it has always had a draw for me.

We found a beautiful villa in a sleepy town with a storied medieval history, in Poppi, Italy. We got in touch with Francesca Panci, the owner of Fattoria Quercia Vecchia (meaning: Old Oak Tree Farm). She was so hospitable and knowledgeable throughout our planning and our wedding week. We also connected with officiants in Italy (blessings from Italy) who took the time to get to know us and bring together a meaningful wedding celebration. With these guides, we knew that we would have exactly the kind of wedding we both had hoped for – intimate, relaxed, but also meaningful and memorable. I was super lucky to have my sister and friend as my artistic consultants, for every aspect of planning – from my dress, makeup, hair, flowers. We visioned everything beforehand and went with local flowers that we arranged together, including a beautiful centrepiece of olive leaves (from the villa’s trees), branches and lemons that my friend handcrafted.

The wedding was originally planned for the villa, but we chose to have it in the Poppi Castle, also the city hall, in case it rained, as April rains are common in Tuscany. We loved that everywhere we went in Poppi – shopping for groceries, buying our flowers for the wedding – people recounted to us their story of getting married at Poppi castle. It was nice to be connected to the community immediately.

It turned out to be such a wonderful choice, full of surprises and beauty. The castle was very quiet on the Monday we got married, with a few guests visiting the castle, who joined in to clap and cheer for us. We had our choice of settings within the castle and chose in the end to have our guests sit along the long hallway in the castle, opened up to the rest of the castle, with a view out the window and upwards to the castle’s ceiling where there were doves perched. It was both intimate and grand. We got married right next to the library where Dante’s original works are archived, meaningful for us as we first met in the University of Toronto library, and Dante’s words resonate with us, speaking of ‘the Love which moves the sun and the other stars’ which brought us together.

Our wedding was attended by close family and my lovely friend who had lived in Florence, and we couldn’t believe how it all came together – with our two families connecting from B.C. and Toronto – enjoying the Tuscan countryside, beautiful wine, food, nature and sights and sounds, in the peaceful pace of Italy.

From Enzo Miccio… Who doesn’t dream about a wedding in an enchanting forest where nature is the protagonist? For those who love natural greenery and the wild, the forest offers a unique and surreal atmosphere in which the architecture is determined by the nature, where timeless reigns.

This was the mood with which Anna and Philip united each other in marriage: he, a charming boy coming from South Africa, her, an English and sweet girl, who dreamed to reality of looking like a fairytale princess. Both of them wanted to be the protagonist of the fairytale atmosphere, where enchanted creatures, fairies and elves were the co-stars in this magical and enchanted wedding.

After long and careful research, the famous wedding planner Enzo Miccio, commissioned by the couple, found in Tuscany the ideal place to organize their special wedding. Moreover, Tuscany is a place of charm especially for British people.

Anna and Philip chose to celebrate their wedding in June 2014 with a fabulous 3-day outdoor wedding event in a elegantly-decorated area at the beautiful Borgo Pignano, a 750-acre country estate between Volterra and San Gimignano. The thoroughly enchanting Pignano estate features an elegant 18th Century manor house and surrounding stone farmhouses, gardens, meadows, pools, small lakes, orchards, woodlands and waterfalls.

Unfortunately the weather prediction of that weekend was disastrous. Luckily Enzo Miccio, knows how quickly Tuscany climate could change, therefore during the organization of the wedding event he prepared a plan B, C and D, too.

How could he realize the dream of Anna who looked at him with her big blue eyes, and to whom he had promised the staging of a fairytale? The dark clouds never left us, until 5pm, when a storm arrived which hit us with such violence that left us all in silence. The torchon of flowers, organza curtains, the little chairs in white wood decorated with wreaths of olive trees and ivy, the string ensemble, the bridesmaids with their wonderful dress in satin and chiffon, beautiful bouquet made with proteas (flower that Anna dedicated to Philip), peonies, roses and sand-colored sweet pea… everything seemed to have been broken.

Enzo ran to embrace and reassure Anna, everything would be just as well, that she would have this very special marriage, she only had to wait a while before marrying her Phil. A flute of champagne to make her smile return and then Enzo went into the forest with his gray soaked attire. He summoned Philip’s best men and his assistants under a weak but always relentless rain. So armed with rags they dried the chairs, created a makeshift gazebo to protect musicians, distributed 200 white umbrellas, and replaced the damaged flowers.

Finally, Enzo ran to Anne with the sealed wonderful Valentino white macramé wedding shoes and told to her that her wedding dream would become reality anyway, even with the weather.

And so it was… Anna and Philip had their enchanted fairytale and after the ceremony, the couple and their guests from the UK, South Africa and all around the world, enjoyed aperitifs on the pretty lawns overlooking the breathtaking Tuscan countryside views before the wedding banquet was served in a marquee in the gardens in front of the manor house.

After the wedding banquet and after cutting of the wedding cake – which had been delicately and beautifully decorated by the bride’s mum – the couple and their guests danced the night away on the dancefloor of an open marquee, decorated with chandeliers, pretty sofas and fabulous floral arrangements.

Rustic Family-Oriented Wedding Under the Tuscan Sun

This wedding is like the movie “Under the Tuscan Sun”: every detail has me ready to move to a little town tucked away in Tuscany. But, the next best thing to la dolce vita are these photos from Lisa Poggi of all the pretty planned by Super Tuscan Wedding Planners—from the couple’s daughters who served as bridesmaids to the handmade wedding rings and vintage Fiat getaway car. See it all here.

From Super Tuscan Wedding PlannersThis romantic couple traveled to Italy with their entire family for their blessing. This is Ingrid and Jeroen’s special wedding in Tuscany! Ingrid and Jeroen decided that pure nature would be the key player for their big day! The wedding ceremony was held in a wheat field set within the Tuscan countryside with olive groves in the background. Bales of straw decorated with pretty white fabric and cushions were used for seating instead of the classical benches or chairs…can you imagine anything more country? Simplicity was the keyword to their union but the details were what made this country wedding in Tuscany special!

The morning started with the ladies getting ready in a venue near the beautiful Tuscan town of Cortona. The bride and the little bridesmaids decorated their heads with braids, flowers and colorful ribbons and a red Fiat 500 car took them to the ceremony location. The bride’s white gown and the bridesmaids’ white dresses were the perfect contrast with the rural Tuscan landscape and the symbolic wedding ceremony began with the best premises! And it seemed that not only Ingrid and Jeroen were going to get married but that their three daughters would join in as they sat with their parents in front of the celebrant! As unusual as the bride’s orange shoes and the handmade wedding rings were, the ceremony was touching as well as amusing! And all those present that day would surely agree!

This couple requested an eco & country wedding and that’s exactly what they got! The ring cushion was pure country style: a bunch of straw nicely tied up with string, with two white roses as decoration. The dominating color was white with pink details here and there, in places such as the bouquets hanging from the trees, all the details at the wedding reception table and the wedding cake that was tastefully decorated with edible rose colored flowers! Well, even the champagne was rose & pink!

The great Tuscan sun shining bright in the sky and the joy of this happy day made this country wedding in Tuscany perfect in its simplicity! The couple then decided to have a religious blessing, this was very important for them and the three little bridesmaids. And now this story ends..well, at least their wedding day does, ‘cause this couple started their new life together by taking a journey through the Tuscan countryside and its most beautiful cities like Cortona, on board a vintage & country red Fiat 500 car!

Romantic Jewish Terrace Wedding in Tuscany

When your venue happens to be a villa owned by an Italian designer (ever heard of the Ferragamo family?) your wedding is guaranteed to have style. David Bastianoni was behind the lens of this country-chic affair with an imperial twist, Italia Celebrations created a picturesque day complete with L’Arte Della Torta Di Melanie Secciani cakes and endless romance.

From David BastianoniIn the heart of Tuscany lies Il Borro , a spectacular Relais and Chateaux owned by the Ferragamo family perfect for a wedding with big style!

The ceremony was held in the big space near the Villa, where the Groom arrived with all their friends, and the Bride (lovely in her dress) with her mum.

Bridesmaids in their beautiful dresses — pastel blue and bouquets in pale pink, create an atmosphere of fairy tale. The Groomsmen in a country-chic style, make it even more impressive ceremony.

All the emotions are read on the faces of the two mothers … and you know … the mother is always the mother!!!

Everything was continued in the wonderful Italian garden and guests were entertained by the typical Italian products and sparkling wine, between song and typical Jewish dance.

The two imperial tables in the terrace of the Villa created a picturesque view and warm color where everyone enjoyed the delicious dinner, while the gorgeous flower arrangements created a friendly and romantic atmosphere for all.

Rustic + Elegant Tuscan Wedding Inspiration

This time of year is extra magical; everything is blooming, colors are popping up everywhere. And this inspiration shoot, set among the rolling hills of Tuscany, captures that amazing energy and more. Melanie Nedelko’s pics are pure art and this scene created by A Very Beloved Wedding has grabbed hold of my heart and isn’t letting go anytime soon. From the gorgeous Milia Ink stationery, to the beautiful Victoria Rüsche dress, to the La Chia headpieces, get swept away in all this Italian romance right this way!

From the Melanie NedelkoMyself and the Event Designer and Planner, Elisabeth & Lorinda, from A Very Beloved Wedding, produced and creatively directed a Styled Shoot called “Toscana Nascosta” based on Goethe’s Italian journey. This shoot is about slipping away from duties, trying to discover yourself through the things you see, finding a meaning to words, learning to know yourself by and through objects of beauty, getting inspired, feeling free, happy and in love… unconditional love. Goethe was seeking paradise, just as we do, and he found it in Italy, just as we did.

Tuscany, Italy is near my base in Austria, so I love to spend holidays there from time to time. The unique nature, pine trees, olive trees, good red wine, lemons and delicious food – there is no more delightful spot to celebrate “la dolce vita” than in Tuscany! It was like a dream come true capturing this delicate wedding inspiration on film. The light is very special – it’s a perfect destination for photographers and of course for a wedding! I hope you all feel inspired when watching our vision of a perfect wedding in Tuscany!

From A Very Beloved WeddingThe Design and Styling was all about lemons and olive trees, spring and summer, white sculptures and forbidden gardens. The color palette was lemon yellow, olive green, off-white and beige and gold accents, the atmosphere and experience was Mediterranean, the materials were organic, woody and silky, the stationery was soft and natural, the flowers fresh and free and the couple elegant, agile and in love. We were so inspired by the place and setting that we even wrote a poem. There is no doubt: Italy surprises us and makes us even more creative.

Spring under my feet
Summer in my heart
It is because of you, I can feel the perfumes of blossoming spring flowers
Because of you I love the fresh lemons in my mouth
Because of you I see white sculptures in forbidden gardens
Because of you I feel this moment

Traditional Pre-Wedding Pakistani Mehndi Night in Tuscany

Planning a destination wedding can be tough — especially when bringing a Pakistani wedding weekend with a traditional Western ceremony to the Tuscan countryside! — but, with help from The Tuscan Wedding and Tuscany Flowers, this Bride and Groom pulled off their mehndi night with style (and bellydancers!). Luckily, Lisa Poggi and Mattello Trombello shared the whole weekend with us in the gallery here!

From the beautiful bride… Tarek and I had our wedding weekend in Florence Italy. We both live in Miami, Florida. My parents immigrated to the Bahamas in the 70’s but my extended family still lives in Italy. Tarek was born and raised in Toronto, Canada but his parents immigrated from Pakistan. We decided to have a destination wedding in Italy. However, we wanted to also incorporate Tarek’s culture into the weekend activities. Instead of having a regular welcome party or rehearsal dinner we decided to have a Mehndi Party for all the wedding guests. Let me tell you — this was not an easy task! Bringing this type party to a rustic Tuscan city was pretty hard!!

Daniela, at The Tuscan Wedding, took on the task and I think did a pretty fantastic job. The location was at an agritourism of all places! This location has a few apartments and a restaurant on a farm. It took us months to find a location that would fit what we needed. We needed a large enough space to hold 115 people and have enough room for dancers. We found a talented group of Indian dancers from Rome who came and did a few dancing shows for us. The place was beautifully decorated with colorful drapes, ethnic decorations and lighting. Most guests participated and dressed up. It was definitely a cultural experience for many of the guests, who living in Italy, have never had the opportunity to see. This was a fantastic way to start off the wedding weekend.

Rustic Norwegian Wedding in Tuscany

Can we just agree that getting married in Tuscany is what wedding dreams are made of? Surrounded by olive groves, the authenticity of this affair is overwhelmingly breathtaking. From their garden ceremony to the courtyard reception, Facibeni Fotografia shared every darling detail with us here!

From Photographer Facibeni FotografiaCatherine and Nils chose to celebrate their wedding on an estate in the pristine Tuscan countryside. Along with their families and their close friends, they chose an old village to spend a few days relaxing with their loved ones due to the good food and the many experiences that the region offers to visitors.

The estate “ Quercia al Poggio” is the place they chose to celebrate the ceremony and organize the reception. The estate is an ancient Tuscan village surrounded by olive groves; completely built in stone, it is one of those authentic places where you can still feel the atmosphere of a few years ago. There are no ultra sharp TVs, and it is more likely to meet a donkey that a Wi-Fi signal. Well … a place of those where you leave heart and spirit!

The ceremony took place in the garden. A short but very intense rite, in which families and guests attended moved, in an almost surreal silence, interrupted only by birdsongs.

In a place so beautiful and romantic, the photo shoot could not but be exciting. I chose to portray the couple simply, during a walk on the dirt road that winds through the property.

The dinner was held in the courtyard, between the ancient stone walls of the village. The T table has been prepared in a simple way, with flowers of the territory. Dinner was delicious, with delicious dishes of meat and mushrooms, and the inevitable red wine produced on the estate of Quercia al Poggio.

The speeches were endless! The Norwegian tradition in fact wants, in addition to the wedding party, that even friends say a few words to wish good luck to the marriage.

Romantic Tuscany Villa Elopement

We couldn’t imagine anything more picturesque than Tuscany, with its rolling hills, olive groves, cypress trees and rustic stone villas. The dreamiest of weddings happen right here, like this romantic elopement captured by the talented Facibeni Fotografia. It’s an intimate ceremony surrounded by natural beauty that’ll have you seeing blush! Sneak a peek at the full gallery right here.

From Facibeni FotografiaIf we talk about weddings and elopements, Tuscany is one of the most beautiful destinations. Florence is the most popular location for weddings between art, history and secular Italian culture.

For those who are looking for something rustic, the beautiful colored hills and dirt roads surrounded by cypress trees are ideal for intimate elopements in the midst of pristine nature: moving celebrations, amid the noise of the cicadas and the rustling of the wind.

Borgo Santo Pietro is one of the most beautiful resorts in the entire region. It is two steps away from the secular Abbey of San Galgano, in a pristine natural area. The village consists of a central structure that houses the reception hall and the restaurant, around which stand many villas surrounded by flower gardens, olive groves and cypress trees.

The villas are fully built of stone, and refurbished by the European property respecting the old architectural standards of the old village. A timeless place to relax and spend the days in luxury and relaxation.

Jenny and Michael celebrated an intimate wedding under a weeping willow in front of a lake. It was a moving ceremony, interrupted only by bird songs.

After the ceremony, I took some relaxed pictures of them, as they walked smiling among the flower gardens with the sun behind them, just before sunset. Given the beauty of the place, it was not that difficult. Borgo Santo Pietro is a dreamy location for any wedding photographer. The photo shoot could not be more fascinating and complete.

Borgo Santo Pietro also contains within it a fabulous restaurant, famous throughout Tuscany. There could be no better time for a romantic dinner at dusk: dishes of meat and mushrooms of the territory and a great wine to toast to this fabulous elopement.

No, there’s no better place to get married in than Tuscany. Don’t you think so?

Rustic Chic Dream Wedding in Tuscany

From its’ rolling golden hills to the vintage villas, every detail about Tuscany beckons romance. So, when you add in beautiful violet dresses, one ribbon laced gown, and a literal cheese cake, well that m’dears is downright dreamy. From sunny Stiatti Fiori blooms to rustic charm, Super Tuscan Wedding Planners incorporated timeless touches while Lisa Poggi captured every darling detail here!

From Super Tuscan Wedding Planners… I personally met with Rob and Becca for the first time in June 2013, and since the very beginning we discovered a strong feeling among me, my wife Arianna, Rebecca and Robert. They were enthusiastic about the town of Cortona — a real pearl of Tuscany — its sights and the villa for their wedding. And the wedding day absolutely reflected all their first excitement!!

The wedding started on a fresh morning, sunny as never before, and more than exciting for our Becca & Rob! The ladies started preparing in the early morning: the Bridesmaids with beautiful violet long dresses and the Bride with a stunning mermaid white lace wedding gown with a ribbon on the back. The colors chosen by the Bride and Groom for their wedding day were violet and yellow. The sunflowers for the Bridesmaids’ bouquets really seemed the best choice for a Tuscan wedding! The Groom had a blue suit and a violet color tie, in perfect style with the Bridesmaids’ dresses.

Ready for the ceremony, the guests and the Groom reached the town hall of Cortona for the most important moments of our Bride & Groom’s lives! The emotions were perceivable in the air and it couldn’t have been more magic with the string quartet and two beautiful souls happily in love and marrying once for a lifetime! The main square of Cortona then enjoyed their happiness along with their 180 guests.

It was amazing to see our lovely couple coming out into the sun at the top of the giant staircase of Cortona’s town hall, and see them enjoying their guests down until the last step. Moreover, it was a special day for the town as well, and as Becca & Rob reached the main square of the town, at the bottom of the staircase, a group of drums entered the square dressed with historic costumes. I admit, it was not planned, but a real wonderful soundtrack for such a moment!

Just one last detail I cannot forget about Becca & Rob’s wedding…their emotional speeches and those of their parents and guests. They included all those moments, emotions, troubles, efforts and deserved successes that this couple had in their last year and for me that year didn’t mean just wedding planning, but an important part of my life, made of lots of lessons.. and I’m proud of having been the wedding planners of Becca & Rob!

Rustic Italian Dream Wedding in Tuscany

A wedding in Tuscany planned by Italy Weddings? It sounds like a dream, and from the looks of David Bastianoni‘s stunning images below this couples’ big day was everything you could possible imagine and more. With a rustic yet elegant feel and pretty little details around every corner, this gallery is filled with too much pretty to count.

From Italy Weddings…As Stacey and Chris say, they did not have a totally clear idea, or a strong theme for their event, but communicating with them, we were able to understand their personal style, and get to know what were the important points essential to their wedding week in Tuscany. So often for a wedding in a land with so much character and personality as Tuscany, and with a villa such as this, it can be better to allow the location, the local cuisine and culture, and the architecture and style of the setting be the theme, rather them imposing anything more forceful on top of that. And Tuscany does this so well: simple but tasty food, welcoming people, stunning hilltop villages such as Volterra, where this lovely couple were married. We dipped in to the resources of the area, and created a special day for the couple never to forget. Marisa and Ben worked closely with the bride and groom on the floral design and the lighting project, to make the mood of the wedding day special, a strong belief for us, in a location where the guests are staying for a full week is to make the wedding event clearly a special, important and thought out day.

From the Bride…Both Chris and I are avid travelers so it was natural for us to get engaged in London and then, that same trip, while on a week-long cycling tour of Tuscany have the seed planted to actually get married in this beautiful part of Italy. We live in Canada but have family & friends spread all over (me being a native Canadian and Chris finding his way here via New Zealand and Australia) coast-to-coast across Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, England so we decided to make a week of it and invite our closest people to a villa just outside of Volterra in the stunning Tuscan country-side. Ben Singleton of Italyweddings was absolutely indispensable seeing as we planned and orchestrated the entire week from Vancouver, primarily via email and only had the luxury of meeting him in person for the first time once we arrived in Italy. We did not have crystal clear vision of our day, expect that we wanted to keep in natural, rustic but with a touch of whimsy and elegance so as not to take away from the unbelievable natural scenery – and it was all that and more! From the luxurious and comfortable family style accommodations, catered dinners followed by 4am dance parties (more than 1!) , a wedding that went off without a hitch in the jaw-dropping town hall of Volterra and many, many bottles of wine.  We could not have done it without Ben and his team. We thank David Bastianoni SO much for all he did for us. Everything was manic and amazingly crazy and David was able to shoot some absolutely beautiful shots we will adore forever. As our hashtag says, #IdoItaly — and we certainly did!

Intimate and Charming Wedding in Tuscany

You know those weddings that are so romantic you’ll remember them for years to come? Well, this Tuscany fete from Greg Finck Photography is certainly one of them. Opting to wed amongst grapevines, this Irish duo paired up with Italy Weddings and Inspired By Love to plan one irresistibly elegant affair. Sweet and intimate, guests dined al fresco toasting to love and it’s all right here!

From Greg Finck Ciara and Mark are an Irish couple from Belfast, Ireland, and had chosen sunny Tuscany for their wedding. When you’re used to grey sky and pouring rain, it’s hard not to totally fall for Tuscany, that fabulous part of Italy calling for bathing sun, easy lifestyle and awesome food and wine.

At the very first contact, Ciara and Mark explained me that they wanted a very intimate wedding, with just forty guests, to focus on the essential, and enjoy their loved ones. They had chosen a magnificent historical Villa – Villa Piaggia – in the heart of Tuscany, to tie the knot. This venue is ideally located, surrounded by square miles of Chianti vineyards and breath-taking landscapes. All of their forty guests had met there for 4 days of celebration, and spend time together.

The d-day has been perfectly planned and designed by Ben Singleton, from Italy Weddings, an American who has been based in Tuscany for years, organizing weddings there. A simple table enhanced by a giant flower garland and fairy lights created a very charming and warm atmosphere. Floral design made of pastel peonies was everywhere, from the Bride’s bouquet to the church decoration.

To keep on that pastel theme, we decided to do the couple session in the middle of olive trees, surrounded by tall grass and a magnificent sun. The couple and their guests then enjoyed a typical Italian meal made of handmade pasta with figs, beef with brunello sauce and rosemary roast potatoes. This beautiful summer day ended with the cutting of a giant millefoglie wedding cake.
