5 Reasons Why Yacht Weddings are Awesome

Listen up, loves. We know choosing a wedding locale isn’t always easy (read: it’s insanely difficult), so today we’re teaming up with our friends over at The Duchess to make things a little bit simpler. Think of it as a gentle nudge in the right direction with our fave reasons why yacht weddings are so very, very awesome. Get ready to set sail for the day of your dreams and dive in below.

OH-SO-ELEGANT

We all want to say “I do” in high style and the experts over at The Duchess will most definitely make that vision a reality with seriously stunning hardwood dance floors, full-service bars for cocktail sippin’ and beautiful contemporary decor at every corner.  I mean, this is the wedding of your dreams on the high seas and it should be all sorts of elegant.

UNIQUE, UNIQUE, UNIQUE!

You and your love aren’t like any other duo you know, so shouldn’t your wedding be as unique as you are? With a wedding on The Duchess, you’ll be treating your guests to a night unlike any they’ve EVER experienced, all while floating on the crystal blue ocean waters.  Think climate controlled interiors, a state-of-the-art sound system and outdoor furniture for lounging under the stars.  Treating your guests to a wedding of a lifetime has never been easier… or more fun.

A TOUCH OF NATURE

One of the best ways to tie the knot? Surrounded by nature.  But that doesn’t mean you have to trek through the mountains with your loved ones to do it. With a wedding on The Duchess, you can breathe in the fresh air and surround yourself with beautiful blue waters, all while rockin’ those sky high heels you LOVE.  It’s a win-win, my friends… star gazin’ included.

BREATHTAKING VIEWS

And speaking of breathing in the fresh air… the views from The Duchess are insanely amazing.  Think the New York City skyline amazing, with 360 degrees of your fave city adding that extra touch of glamour to your evening.  Not to mention that The Duchess’ newly built second deck is MORE than perfect for soaking it all in.

INTIMATE SETTING

Whether you’re planning on a small gathering of just your nearest and dearest or a larger affair of 400, setting sail on The Duchess guarantees an intimate celebration with no outside distractions allowed. Yep, no resort guests, tourists or other weddings will distract from your moment and, well… that’s just awesome.

From the Bride… My husband and I met in Florence, Italy while out enjoying aperitivo with our mutual friends from college. After three nights full of laughs and Italian wine with all of our friends, Chad was returning back to America, since he was only there for a brief trip. I had immediately fallen in love with Chad the moment I met him, and we know we had to start a long-distance relationship with the hopes of one day being together again. Well after three and a half years of snail mail, skype, and a “few” weekend trips to Florence and NYC, I made the big move to Texas to finally be with the one I love most. Within one and a half more amazing years in Texas, we bought a beautiful home together, rescued two spunky kitties, and got engaged!

I had never felt so elated and euphoric in my life and I never wanted to lose that feeling, I wanted to keep it between the two of us. Of course we had to tell our families so that we could all celebrate the amazing news together, so we shared the news and celebrate we did! Once we all came to our senses the planning started. At first it was Scotland or Ireland, and then the idea of a Backyard Black-Tie, but finally we realized what it needed to be, Italian in the most true and organic way.

Soon we found the perfect location in Deep River, CT, the Lace Factory. You could not find a more authentic, historic, perfectly aged building, on the Connecticut River, at the bottom of the mountain, surrounded by serine foliage. This place was an absolute dream. Quickly my mom and I got to work with the most incredible wedding planner in CT, Sarah Taggart of A Polished Plan. Both my mom and I had strong visions of what we wanted and with that Sarah was able to bring together the dream team of wedding planning.

We were incredibly fortunate that the owner, Andrea, of the Lace Factory is also the owner of the catering at Cloud 9. Andrea had recently returned from a vacation in Italy and was inspired to create a new menu that was authentic, fresh, and full of the incredible Italian flavors Chad and I love so much. To really top off the cake, she offered to make homemade lemoncello, and she even made a new cake flavor for me, chai spice with mascarpone butter cream! Yes, I was on cloud 9, the food in my life could not have been more divine.

When we started talking about flowers, I initially did not want many, it just didn’t appeal to me as a priority in a wedding. Honestly my husband and I are not huge fans of manicured florals, but thankfully my mom and Sarah knew better. Sarah introduced us to Beth from Blush, and what we saw in her little studio was inspirational. She opened our eyes to the lush side and her talents truly transformed the wedding. She created the most elegant and earthy centerpieces but brought so much personality and quirkiness to them. There were artichokes in the center of a flower arrangements, she also introduced succulents wherever she could, and single bud vases for a touch of fragility.

What was a priority for me was photography. I was so excited when we found Salwa Photography in NYC. Chad and I were able to plan a trip to NYC and meet Anna, one of the owners. She has the most charming, energetic and endearing personalities, that I knew she would be a perfect match for us. One of Chad and I’s favorite directors is Wes Anderson, and I also have a love for black and white photography, and with that visual direction Anna and her husband, Simon, captured the most stunning moments.

Day of the wedding, after Chad and I had our emotional first look photographs, we previewed the Lace Factory and we could not believe our eyes. Sarah and her incredible dream team had brought the venue to life. It was as though the Lace Factory found its true glory. As we walked in the staff was lighting the hundreds of candles that illuminated the garlands at each table. Meanwhile the three piece jazz band, Dandy Wellington, was setting up to serenade us all, and our DJ, Mike Voster, with incredibly suave taste in fashion and music was finishing his setup. Throughout the wedding planning my mom kept saying “I want this to be the wedding you dreamed of” but what I think she really meant when saying that was, “I want you to have a wedding you won’t stop dreaming of”. From the smell of the fresh autumn flowers, the taste of genuinely delicious food, to the sound of jazz flooding the Connecticut River, this truly is a wedding I will never stop dreaming of.

From Proposal to Party, See Where it All Started for This Couple

After seeing Kim and Greg’s whimsical-meets-rustic spring wedding, I’m convinced every Bride and Groom should consider saying “I do” at the same spot they first got engaged. And not only that, but every couple should hire an A-list team of vendors like Stefanie KapraBumblebee FilmsJennie FresaRoseville Designs and Photobooth Planet! See every reason why in The Vault!

From Stefanie KapraBeing invited to capture Kim and Greg’s joyful wedding was a true honor to me. While I get to work with many wonderful couples, the love and sincerity between these two is very special and shines thru in everything they do. Besides the extremely upbeat atmosphere, the thoughtful and colorful details stood out in a beautiful way. From lush organic spring flowers to handmade unique ties, tasteful invitations, beautiful dresses, handmade signs, vintage cars etc… everything tied together effortlessly.

From The Bride…Greg and I were engaged for almost two and a half years. From the start our relationship has been unique, from meeting at a pool party, to moving in together when Greg’s dad was deployed overseas, to the fact that we had two wedding ceremonies in two days (one at a Church and one at the vineyard he proposed to me at)! We loved our engagement period and enjoyed the planning process. I will even go so far as to say, I miss wedding planning! It was so much fun to do something totally different and be creative in a way that I am not professionally.

We strove to include elements of “us” in our wedding that would stand up to our expectations on their own, while combining to highlight us as a couple. For us the longer engagement was amazing, because it meant that we slowed down, researched, and saved to have key elements. While planning we decided to prioritize the people, both guests and vendors. We went out of our way to research the vendors’ work beforehand so that when the time came: we could take a step back and let them carry the vision of our day into actuality. We felt strongly that the people we chose to bring into this process were artists of their craft first and foremost. If we could not find someone to translate our ideas into reality, we took matters into our own hands. For example: when we could not find perfectly unique bowties, I went fabric shopping and made them myself! It was neat because my Great-Grandma, who was with us in spirit, and my Grandma, who wasn’t able to make it, taught me how to sew. In a way it was a tribute to each of them that I was able to make distinctive bowties for all the men in the bridal party. Furthermore, our guest list was specifically drawn to bring in people based on the roles that they played in our lives before we knew each other and as a couple.

Traditional film photography, local organic flowers that fit the environment, acoustic ballads transitioning into a DJ, vintage Volkswagen busses (one housing our photo booth!), local wines grown with solar power, tent lighting that mimicked the stars outside the tent, a packed dance floor, and chalkboards that generated smiles: these were some of the elements that fused together to make something more wonderful than either one of us could ever have imagined. Since the wedding a compliment that we regularly receive from guests is that the wedding perfectly embodied ‘us’ and who we are as a couple. It really makes me so pleased to hear that from others.

Perhaps the best side effect of pouring over the decisions regarding who we brought in to collaborate on facilitating our special day, is the fact that we have gained new friendships! We maintain a relationship with each vendor that we chose to include in our wedding day. To us they are now our friends and we will continue to find ways to highlight their skills and involve them in the milestones of our life yet to come. They say that your wedding day flies by. Whoever ‘they’ are, the idiom rings true. I mean: we had two weddings and they still went by in a blink of an eye! Yet, what I will say is that with the right preparation, staying true to your dreams, trusting in your choices, being patience with the process: you can truly enjoy every minute of your wedding day.

When They Couldn’t Find the Perfect Venue, These Childhood Sweethearts Created Their Own

Finding the perfect venue is step one in planning your dream wedding. But when this Bride and Groom (who first met in acting class at 9-years-old) couldn’t find the right venue for their whimsical-meets-vintage fall wedding, they created their own at the park just a few minutes from the Bride’s childhood home. And with help from vendors like Ryon:Lockhart PhotographyJenny Yoo and Beat Train Productions, the couple’s day came together perfectly. See it all in The Vault!

From The Bride…John and I met in acting class when we were nine years old. Needless to say, neither of us ever imagined that we’d be getting married nearly two decades later.

As soon as we got engaged, we immediately started planning! We knew we wanted to get married in my hometown in Connecticut but finding the perfect venue wasn’t easy. So we made our own! Boothe Park is just a few miles down the road from my childhood home and is everything we wanted in a venue: quirky, simple, and beautiful. They don’t normally allow weddings, so that made it even more special. We knew having a tent wedding would present some challenges, but with the help of our amazing wedding planner Lauren and some hard work, we pulled it off!

I have always loved New England autumns so we set the date for October. Typically, the air is crisp and the leaves are changing, but it’s also pretty unpredictable. I’m embarrassed to say I checked about 8 different weather sites a day for the few weeks leading up to the big day. We got lucky! Even though it was a little chilly, the sunny skies and colorful leaves made up for it.

Since the wedding was in autumn, we chose dark berry tones. The theme was a mix of vintage and whimsical. The visual of the event came together beautifully. From the mixed color bridesmaids dresses, to the low profile centerpieces, to the cake display, we really loved how everything turned out.

I’m detail oriented to a fault, so I was really focused on adding special touches to the day, like a memory table with pictures of our grandparents and parents. We offered fleece blankets in case people were cold (they were!). Our two signature cocktails were actually recipes from our favorite bar in our neighborhood. I’m just grateful that our caterer, planner, my bridesmaids, and my husband all played along with my crazy ideas.

The best part of the night by far was spending time with our amazing friends and family. How often do you get to hang out with your favorite 180 people in the world under a candlelit tent? The dance floor was packed the whole night and the energy was just incredible. Everyone had such a great time, which for us was most important from the very beginning.

One Wedding. Twenty Children. And One Killer Shirley Temple Bar.

SMPers, consider your day officially made because we’re about to begin a day-long party with Judy Pak. She’s the photographer behind some of the most incredible weddings to hit our pages, and today she’s sharing three “I dos” set across the country. First up? The quaintest New England wedding you ever did see with 20 (yes 20!) darling flower girls and ring bearers. It’s all the reasons we love fall with a nautical, seaside twist and an awesome crew including Hana Floral DesignDaly Planning, and Ripcord who made it happen. Hop to The Vault, and sit tight for more Judy Pak up next.

From The Bride…My husband and I met while working as lawyers in Washington, D.C. We quickly hit it off based on our shared love of music, history, and traveling, and came to discover, strangely enough, that we grew up in neighboring towns along the shoreline in southern New England. We also realized that we crossed paths multiple times in our old stomping grounds.

The Connecticut and Rhode Island shoreline mean so much to both of us. It shaped the people we grew up to be, and in many ways defines who we are as a couple. As a result, when planning our wedding over the course of our year and a half engagement, we strove to craft a wedding weekend that highlighted the area, and was simultaneously a true reflection of us as a couple. We centered our wedding festivities around Little Narragansett Bay – the small body of water that is at the mouth of the Pawcatuck River, which forms the state line between Connecticut and Rhode Island. Positioned on either side of the Bay are the quaint seaside towns of Watch Hill, RI and Stonington, CT. We held our ceremony at beautiful seaside Watch Hill Chapel in homage to my husband’s Rhode Island roots and our reception just across the bay at Saltwater Farm Vineyard, a converted WWII-era airport hanger, near my own home town. Both venues are on either side of Little Narragansett Bay, and in fact, you can even see the top of the chapel from the balcony of the vineyard.

Our theme was seaside coastal elegance – a “wedding by the sea.” We worked with our amazing vendors to bring our vision to life, and to incorporate local, coastal, and seasonal elements. Ladyfingers Letterpress did an amazing job with their personalized invitation suite, which included hand drawn maps and illustrations of the area. They perfectly captured our theme, and laid the groundwork for the esthetic of our wedding.

We held our rehearsal dinner at The Cooked Goose, a warm and cozy restaurant that has long been one of our favorite brunch locations. It was a perfect space to make a large wedding party feel like an intimate family gathering, and the restaurant did an excellent job of crafting a menu that complemented our coastal theme.

We had a Catholic ceremony at the Watch Hill Chapel. The Judge I worked for, who is also a deacon, officiated, with the assistance of Rich’s father, who is an Episcopalian priest. My two cousins (one of whom is my godson) served as altar boys. The ceremony was unbelievably personal because were were surrounded by our families and loved ones, and all of them participated in the consecration of our marriage. We also had 20 children in our wedding, 8 bridesmaids, 7 groomsmen, and 3 ushers. Thanks to our phenomenal wedding coordinator, Daly Sanford of Daly Planning, all the children made it down the aisle flawlessly – even the 3 one year olds who were pulled in a wagon down the aisle.

My dress was a Monique Lhuillier “Azure”, which I fell in love with for being simultaneously timeless and modern. It was soft, romantic, and most importantly, fun to dance in! My bridesmaids wore champagne floor-length Monique Lhuillier bridesmaids dresses of different styles — some included touches of lace. We put our nine flower girls (ranging in age from 12 months to 10 years) in tulle ethereal long sleeve dresses from Nellystella. The flower girls wore baby’s breath flower wreath crowns — they looked like little pixies! Sam Slocum and her team did an amazing job with all of our hair and Shauntelle from Larissa Lake Makeup was incredible in doing everyone’s makeup,

Our groomsmen wore single breasted, peak lapel black tuxedos from The Black Tux — a traditional look with a modern cut. The eight junior ushers also wore black tuxes (mini-James Bonds!), and the three smallest ring bearers wore knee length pants with suspenders and bow ties, with knee socks. Rich is in the Navy and he wore is uniform–we also had a sword arch filled with our dear friends and family in the military.

We worked with our caterer, Thyme to Cook, to incorporate local and seasonal cuisine. We were even able to include produce from local farms where I grew up picking strawberries and getting our christmas tree each year, LoPresti Farm and Maple Lane Farm in Preston, Connecticut. We included locally caught seafood as well—including local bomster scallops and New England Clam Chowder. My favorite element during cocktail hour was our own Butternut Squash station, which included three unique takes on our favorite fall vegetable: Butternut and Apple soup shots, Butternut Squash Arancini, and Buttnerut Squash, Ricotta, and Sage Crostini. We served our main course family style to capture a fall harvest feel–this allowed everyone to try a bit of everything!

Our cocktail hour featured a tasting of Salt Water Farm’s fantastic selection of wines. Thyme to Cook also prepared three specialty cocktails, one named after our cat Emma (a traditional old fashioned), another after my father, the Jim n’ Tonic, (a cranberry gin and tonic), and the third after my husband’s family, the Captain Morgan, (hot apple cider with rum and a cinnamon stick). We even had a special Shirley Temple Bar for the 25 kids in attendance! We topped the evening off with hot apple cider and apple cider donuts from American’s oldest cider mill — the legendary B.F. Clyde’s in Old Mystic, CT.

Paper Tangent created all the signage for the wedding, and did a fantastic job incorporating our palette and bringing everything together. Our favorite was their cocktail sign–which featured a portrait of our cat!

Our biggest challenge was finding a photographer that could capture the feel and look we were going for. We struck gold when we found Judy Pak Photography. Her photography is soft, romantic, and timeless–we knew she would be able to highlight the beauty of the shoreline in a way that we would treasure forever. Her photos were nicely complemented by the work of our videographer, Dean Rocha, who perfectly captured the joy and beauty of our big day. Both Judy and Dean were a delight to work with!

Rich went to college for music composition, and I grew up playing piano, so we knew music would play important part of our day. Ripcord performed for our ceremony (trumpet and piano), our cocktail hour, and our reception. They even learned a song that Rich had written for me for the wedding! Ripcord was exceptional, and had all of the guests dancing all night — especially the kids.

We held our wedding in October and wanted to highlight fall by the sea without defaulting to the typical orange color scheme. Instead, with the help of Yumiko Fletcher of Hana Floral Design, we were able to craft a pallette that was seasonal and autumnal, but also soft and romantic. Our wedding colors included champagne, mauve, blush, with pops of deep wine, gold, and copper elements. We included lots of greenery in our flower arrangements, and garland on the long tables. She executed my vision flawlessly — and is a true artist and a pleasure work with.

We wanted to include a few small, personal details to tie together our theme and venue. Our tables were named for locations along the Connecticut and Rhode Island shore that held special meaning to the two of us growing up. We spray panted small white pumpkins with gold paint to create a varied ombre look and used them for escort cards. Michele Clark of Staten Island, NY did all the calligraphy for our wedding — and did an amazing job. Instead of using a traditional guest book, we had our guests sign a wine barrel, which we are using as a cocktail table in our new home. Finally, our favors were small jars of honey produced from my mother’s beehives.

The most important thing for us was to have a warm, fun wedding full of joy and surrounded by all the people we love. I can’t describe the magical feeling that overcame me during the ceremony, enveloped by the love of my family and friends, when walking down the aisle. Our wedding is something Rich and I will cherish for all of our days — and we could not have dreamed of a better day. It is true that the day goes by so quickly. However, thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make the day special, we will have memories to last a lifetime.

Outdoor Fall Engagement Shoot

New England in the fall is pure magic, so scheduling your engagement photos while everything is golden is just a no brainer. Need proof? Take a look at these picture perfect images from Jack Jeffries of Christian Oth Studio. It’s engagement session perfection, and you can see even more in the VAULT.

From The Bride…Tim proposed to me after at Sasco Hill beach, down the street from our home on the Monday after Easter. Our parents were at our home for the holiday and all had met for the first time. After his parents had left our house it was just my parents Tim and I – he thought that would be an opportune time to ask my parents for my hand in marriage. Tim suggested that I run out to go get a manicure (since I worked so hard cooking and cleaning for our parents to come for the holiday) and that is when he asked my dad. Of course my parents were ecstatic and did not think twice about saying yes to his request. My family left and headed back to Chicago and the very next day Tim asked me to come home from work early because he wanted to take me on a special date to thank me again for the hard work over the holiday. So I get home at 5 on the dot, and he was sitting in our family room and just said okay get dressed we have to go. Typically we don’t eat at 5, so I really did not know what was going on. We live .25 of a mile from the beach and he started to head in that direction – so I thought oh how nice he made us a picnic. We get there, he said get out and close your eyes – and at this time I heard a small faint bark of a dog in the distance so I thought he got us a puppy!! I was wrong, I opened my eyes and saw someone else’s puppy running in the distance, and Tim down on one knee! I was absolutely stunned, STUNNED. Of course we had talked about it, but I thought he was going to wait to do it until after he had graduate business school in June. After it all sank in, we went back to the car where he had a bottle of Cristal and blankets and flowers. We just sat there, all alone at our beach – no one around us except seagulls and strangers taking it all in wrapped up in the blankets from our family room. The feeling I had that night, was one I had never felt in my life before. I had never felt so secure, loved and excited. Our engagement photos were taken by Jack Jeffries of Christian Oth Studio on the most perfect late October day. The foliage was at its peak in our small town of Southport CT and the sun was shining. We began the photo session at our home and then proceeded to walk around the town and found the best trees and just started snapping away. I did a quick outfit change, and we headed down to the same beach we were engaged at and had some great pictures taken down on the rocks and in the brush.

When it comes to New England weddings, classic and nautical go together like peanut butter and jelly. Case in point: this stunning yacht club wedding in shades of navy, gold and white. From the Bride and Groom’s compass motif carried throughout all the design elements to the classic tented reception to the beautiful florals from Hana Floral Design, every detail of this Greenwich wedding is absolute perfection. See it all from First Mate Photo and Love + Brain Films in The Vault!

From The Bride…Mine and David’s wedding took place in Greenwich, CT on a beautiful August day. We knew from the day we started planning that we wanted our wedding to be on the water on a summer night. Our first obstacle was finding a venue that had a large enough area for a tent but one that also embodied the nautical beauty we were searching for. We knew we wanted the reception to be outside so our guests could really get a ‘summer night on the ocean’ feel. Our wedding’s theme was classic nautical with navy, gold and white colors and the symbol of a compass on our logo. We both had a very big attachment with the ocean and the Long Island Sound. David proposed to me on a dock in Rye, NY on the Sound along the same coast that Riverside is on. The first time I actually saw Riverside Yacht Club was on a wedding post on Style Me Pretty. It encompassed everything I was looking for in a venue and I knew at that moment that that was where I wanted to have our reception. When we visited, Riverside did not disappoint and we were sold! It had the special connection to our engagement and was beyond beautiful. The inside of the yacht club had the classic nautical feel we were looking for and the view of the Sound was beyond words. Behind the club was a large patch of grass surrounded by lush flowers that set the perfect stage for our tent!

As a lover of weddings and party design myself, the rest of the planning was fun for me! I design signage for weddings and parties and could not wait to start planning my own special day! Every detail was important to us. From the colors of the napkins, to the signage and special decor, to the music being played, every little thing had a special place in mine and David’s hearts. Even our vendors were specially picked. Our florist, Yumiko from Hana Floral Design, is a good friend of my sister-in-law Sarah Crawford, who is a blogger and party planner herself. One of Yumiko’s first weddings as a florist was Sara’s and David’s brothers wedding. Yumiko made my exact vision come to life. I knew I wanted all white lush flowers with dark green leaves to complement the white and the arrangements came out gorgeous. I had also made a special request to have my favorite flowers, peonies, in all of the ladies bouquets and although peonies are not in season in August, Yumiko made it happen! Our invitation and signage designer was also specially picked. Cheree for Cheree Berry Paper is my sister in law Lauren’s good friend from college. Cheree Berry designs were exactly what we were looking for in a stationery set. They had a classic look with a modern flare and they worked with me to help create my vision. As an artists myself, this was probably the most fun part of planning! Our photographer, First Mate Photo, had shot my good friends wedding in Cape Cod and I was absolutely blown away with the look and feeling of he photos. Each photo was like its own piece of art. We had our engagement photos shot with First Mate in Marblehead MA, where Davids parents and older brothers grew up. We were so happy with the pictures we knew we needed to have our wedding day shot by them as well. Our menu’s and programs were designed by Michelle Hickey from Elegance & Enchantment who is sisters with my very close college friend.

Our wedding day started at The Church of the Resurrection where our ceremony would take place. It was important for us to be married at that church because it was in David’s hometown and was the church where his older brother was married. The grandness and beauty of the church made for an unbelievable setting for our special vows that we wrote ourselves and for a unforgettable performance from my brother and childhood best friend who sang and played Hallelujah by Rufus Wainwright.

Once at Riverside for the reception, we really got to see our vision come to life. Our cocktail hour was held in the ballroom which was adorned with our engagement photos and our parents wedding photos. We had special love quotes framed and gold compass’s laid on the tables. Our tent was set a few feet from the Long Island Sound and was filled with the music from our amazing band The Rainbow Room Orchestra from the Hank Lane collection. David and I danced to “XO” by John Mayer for our first dance.

Coming from Italian decent, my father spoke in our native tongue for his speech and then danced with me to our song “It’s Not Unusual” by Tom Jones. Our maid of honor and best man gave incredible speeches that had everyone laughing and crying from start to finish. And after an amazing night on the dance floor my new husband had one more surprise for me. Throughout the whole day my maid of honor was passing me little notes David had written me, each one hinting at a special surprise he had in store for me. David gave a wonderful speech thanking all of our friends and family and at the end broke out into song, singing me one of our favorite songs, “6 Months” By Hey Monday. I had made a CD for David when we first started dating with that song on it and he included the lyrics during his proposal to me when he was down on one knee. And to cap off the magical night he had our band playing the song while he sang. It was a moment I will never forget for the rest of my life!

Fabulous Wedding Ring Trends for 2016

You’ve been dreaming of saying “I do” for what seems like forever, so when it comes time to put that ring on your finger, you want to get it RIGHT. Enter Long’s Jewelers, our go-to experts for all things jewelry who also happen to know everything there is to know about this year’s most anticipated styles. Think gorgeous bands that will stay timeless even beyond 2016. Scroll below for a look.

Trend #1 – Unique Wedding Bands

You + yours are unlike any other couple you know, so obviously your wedding rings from Long’s Jewelers should be as unique as you are. From crazy cool details to uncommon designs to colorful gemstones, choosing a one-of-a-kind look is the perfect way to stand out amongst the crowd, add that extra spice to your classic e-ring or mix together two very different tastes and styles. It’s letting your personality shine through your jewelry and we.are.obsessed.

Trend #2 – Stacking Bands

Let’s be honest, you’re a total fashionista… and staying ahead of the style game also means showing off your wedding rings with a little more “flare” than the usual one band + one engagement ring. Which is why Long’s Jewelers’ stacking bands are the perfect option. Think thin rings that sit flush with one another to form a beautiful grouping OR a fabulous look spread out across each finger. Plus, with different shapes, colors, designs and price points, stacking bands are most definitely chic and original.

Trend #3 – Mixing Metals

You’re the type of lady who throws rules out the window and mixes and matches metals until your hearts content. In other words… those gold earrings and platinum bracelet? Perfect for your night out on the town. So why not apply those same principals to finding your wedding ring and choose a hue from Long’s Jewelers that is totally opposite to your engagement jewelry. I’m talking an e-ring in rose gold meets a platinum band that is super sparkly. It’s bold, fashion-forward AND unique. We love that.

Trend #4: Meaningful & Sentimental Wedding Bands

Your wedding ring is one of THE most important pieces of jewelry you will ever own, so why not make it extra special by adding an additional touch of sentimentality to this already meaningful piece. With Everband rings from Long’s Jewelers, you’ll start with a band that holds one interior diamond for your wedding day and, with each passing anniversary, add a diamond to the inside or outside of the band as a symbol of your love and partnership. Such an amazing statement.

Trend #5 – Halfway or Three-Quarter Diamond Bands

If you fell head over heels in love with eternity bands last year, you were not alone… 2015 was the year of the diamonds. This year, however, it’s all about scaling back to a half or 3/4 eternity band. Think cost-effective, more practical and easier to handle if you work with your hands. (Read: no cracking or damaging a diamond or losing a stone.) It’s rockin’ the bling from Long’s Jewelers sans the anxiety… we can get on board with that.

Excited to see these new trends in person? Head to Long’s Annual Wedding Band Weekend on March 18-20, 2016 for wall-to-wall wedding bands (including the new Everband collection!), chit chat with fab wedding ring vendors and selection and pricing that is all sorts of ah-mazing. You’ll even have a chance to win $1,000 off your wedding ring, plus even more spectacular prizes. Think a dream honeymoon, groomsmen suits, dinner + wine, a shopping spree, a pair of TAG Huer watches, gift certificates and MORE. RSVP here, because you absolutely don’t want to miss a moment.
