1. Weekend exclusivity

This is one of our favorite things about Round Hill Hotel & Villas – they only host one wedding per weekend. How amazing is that!? This way you don’t have to worry about your guests being confused on who’s wedding is where or hearing another wedding’s cocktail hour during your ceremony (cringe-worthy…). It also allows for unparalleled service and undivided attention given to you and your guests during your entire wedding weekend… guaranteeing every moment is personalized to perfection.

2. Your very own wedding planner

Paradise shouldn’t include caring about timelines, stressful deadlines or worrying about anything besides where you’re getting your next piña colada – are we right?! From making sure the décor is looking on point to assisting vendors with anything they need. Sounds pretty ideal, huh?

How to Host the Perfect Destination Wedding From a Bride Who Knows

One look at Round Hill and it’s easy to see why it’s one of our fave spots on the planet. The gorgeous accommodations, the tasty cuisine, the breathtaking views… You guys, this place is awesome. But you know what’s better than listening to us go on and on about all of its amazing attributes? Hearing from a real bride who knows firsthand. Say hello to the insanely gorgeous Leanna, a bride who tied the knot in one crazy cool celebration, handsome groom and candlelit reception included. Scroll for an awesome Q&A sesh.

Q: HOW DID YOU DECIDE ON ROUND HILL AS YOUR WEDDING DESTINATION?

Long story short, we fell in love at first sight. Although, my family is originally from Jamaica, most of our guests would be travelling from abroad and we wanted a location that was convenient and showcased the best Jamaica has to offer. Prior to selecting a venue, we planned a 2-week trip driving all over Jamaica – from Montego Bay to the Blue Mountains – to visit venues we had been eyeing online. Round Hill was the second venue on our itinerary and we were blown away. Every inch of the resort is pristine — the pictures simply do not do the property justice. Everyone we met was warm and welcoming. Most importantly, we trusted they understood the vision we had for our special day.

Q: WERE YOU ANXIOUS ABOUT PLANNING A DESTINATION WEDDING, AND DID THE ROUND HILL TEAM HELP ALLEVIATE THAT? HOW?

Absolutely! We live in New York City. We knew planning from that far would be challenging and our tastes can be quite discerning (read: picky). The Round Hill team was very helpful in easing a lot of our concerns and answering every question we had along the way. They know the very best vendors on the island and were flexible in allowing us to use some vendors we had also sourced ourselves. We could rest assured that our wedding would be top notch while avoiding a lot of wasted time doing extensive research on our own.

Q: WHAT MADE THE PLANNING PROCESS EXTRA SPECIAL FOR YOU?

Focusing on the little details that made each guest feel special and showcasing our personality as a couple. 50 to 60 of our closest friends and family were travelling great distances, so many of the details I planned were to make their stay as seamless as possible and help them feel appreciated for sharing this weekend with us. Each welcome bag included a handwritten note, a few of my favourite Jamaican snacks, sunscreen, mints, heel protectors (for the ladies), bottled water, and a bottle of rum. We made sure paper fans were on hand during the outdoor ceremony and instead of standard place cards, we had each guests’ name laser cut out of wood as a keepsake.

Q: BRIEFLY TAKE US THROUGH YOUR WEDDING DAY.

That morning, we both woke up nervous and anxious, but we fully trusted Racquel, the Round Hill wedding planner, to deliver on everything we had planned. We opted not to have bridal parties to keep it simple. Instead, we invited family and a few close friends to share the afternoon getting ready with us at two separate villas. When the photographer arrived, the day moved pretty quickly from there. Running slightly behind schedule made for somewhat of a hurried first look and shortly after we were shuttled to the ceremony site, the Spa Lawn. Our absolute favourite part of the day had to be the ceremony – the setting sun and ocean backdrop, looking down the aisle to see your soon-to-be husband, and reciting your vows in front of everyone you love. It was nothing short of magical. Lots of hugging, champagne, and pictures ensued.

Another highlight of the day was seeing the reception site! As a detail-obsessed person, for months I tried to envision it all. Yet, I still wasn’t prepared for how beautifully it would all come together. Two days prior I had handed over two large suitcases of wedding décor to Racquel and, with no explanation at all, she had arranged everything exactly as I had envisioned.

Q: IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY?

Not much. Everything turned out better than I could’ve imagined. If I had to choose one thing, I would’ve taken a few more deep breaths, spent less time worrying about the weather or my look and more time in the moment, soaking up every second with family and friends. I would’ve taken a few more bites of that delicious food too, lol.

Q: DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR PERSONS PLANNING A DESTINATION WEDDING?

Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and imagine your entire family and all your close friends spending quality time together in an immaculate resort on a beautiful island. A destination wedding can be a lot more to think through, but all the minutiae of wedding planning will be absolutely worth it. And of course, choosing to work with people that you trust with your life is essential in helping you enjoy every minute of it.

Whether you dream of an intimate celebration with just close friends and family or a grander affair with all of your loved ones, Round Hill can make it all happen… and beautifully. Plus, with six fabulous venue options, amazing wedding packages and a team of talented planners that know everything about pretty I do’s, you can rest easy knowing that your every detail is being taken care of – even from far away. Leanna and Mario’s wedding was a dream come true, and yours can be just as magical. Contact Round Hill today to start planning that wedding in paradise.

A Hibiscus Bouquet + Palm Frond Motif Are the Epitome of Summer

Since summer is my favorite season, I was delighted to see this Caribbean Bridal portrait inspiration session by Shannon Leahy land on my desk. With its palm frond motif, refreshing green palette, hibiscus bouquet by Bows + Arrows, and stunning Jamaican beach location, it celebrates all the best things summer has to offer. I’m ready to pack my bathing suit and jump right into the enviable gallery of images by Sylvie Gil Photography!

From Sylvie Gil PhotographyThis beachy styled shoot is the perfect inspiration for a tropical destination wedding. Shot near Half Moon Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica, we went for a relaxed, dreamy vibe with just a Bride in a flowy white gown and a single reception table set on the sand. The palm tree motif shows up in the gorgeous landscape as well as the lining of our understated mustard invitation suite. A loose, hibiscus-studded bouquet and centerpiece complement the dark wood accents of the paper goods and reception table.

The Dreamiest Beach Wedding With Dinner on the Ocean Pier!

Imagine the softest, prettiest, most ethereal beach celebration of your wildest dreams and that, my friends, is this wedding. Set in Montego Bay, Jamaica, it begins with a ceremony on the island’s white sand beaches followed by dinner on a breathtaking ocean pier. Of course, behind every amazing wedding are amazing vendors and Meggie Francisco Events + Tracy Enoch Photography are two of the pros who made it happen. Follow your tropical wanderlust with even more this way in the gallery.

From Tracy EnochMary and Mike exchanged vows on the white sand beaches of Montego Bay, Jamaica surrounded by an intimate gathering of their close family and friends. Using a soft pastel color palette, Meggie Francisco of Meggie Francisco Events succeeded in designing a warm and minimalistic event that emphasized the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

Using locally foraged foliage to compliment the soft white and pink tulips that were shipped in from the states, Leslie Dupre worked her magic and created stunning floral elements used for the wedding day. Mary and Mike began their wedding day celebration on the beach exchanging rings and vows, and ended the evening with an intimate dinner under the stars and dancing at one of the Hyatt Ziva Jamaica resort clubs.

Colorful Jamaica Wedding Designed With Effortless Island Elegance

If I had to describe this wedding in one short phrase, “easy, breezy island elegance” are the words that jump straight to mind. Karen and Mark hoped to give their guests a tropical escape and a celebration set in Montego Bay, Jamaica totally fit the bill. Shannon Leahy Events and Bows & Arrows infused the affair with color-happy moments, and the one and only Sylvie Gil captured everything behind the camera.

From Sylvie Gil… Karen & Mark’s Caribbean wedding was a lovely spring departure from the bustle of city life. The ceremony and reception were highlighted by richly colored island florals, a bright tropical color palette, and coral and pineapple accents. The couple integrated plenty of custom designs with the surrounding Jamaican culture – monogrammed “escort cups” for guests, ikat table runners, local flowers, and steel drums at the farewell brunch. A relaxed and idyllically beautiful affair, this wedding is the definition of effortless island elegance.

Well, we’ve got you covered, because today we’re joining forces with Jennie Kay for a quick run-down on all things beauty with tips + tricks on achieving that glam wedding day look, no matter the gown or style you’re dreaming of. Your style? Laid-back with a big ol’ side of sophistication. Which means rocking a stunning gown that shows some skin and hair + make-up that is just as sleek and glamorous. Jennie Kay suggests pairing your dream dress with a rope braid pony or soft low bun that is dressy enough for a wedding, but is also completely effortless.

LOOK 2: VINTAGE ELEGANCE

You’re a vintage-inspired lady looking to rock that elegant lace number, but still maintain a modern, yet sexy edge. Jennie Kay’s tip? A bright red lip for that much-needed side of sophistication and a stunning updo that frames one side of the face, plus sweeps across the back in a beautiful style that is reminiscent of the past.

LOOK 5: TOUSLED SOPHISTICATION

Waves are a girl’s best friend and when it comes to a wedding day look that is equal parts laid-back and sophisticated, Jennie Kay keeps those tousled waves down with just a few sweet strands pulled back for a look that is all sorts of romantic. From Tracey Jazmin… Ben and Steph’s wedding took place at the Secrets Wild Orchid Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica and was one of the most emotional weddings I’ve ever been to. From love notes, to handwritten vows, to a sweet father daughter first look and some heart wrenching first dances, I assure you that even my waterproof mascara was gone that day.

But tropical Jamaica wasn’t just any place for Ben and Steph; it was where they first met! Both taking a much needed vacation, Ben from Ottawa and Steph from Chicago, their paths crossed and then started their journey to forever so seemingly so Jamaica was the perfect place for them to tie the knot!

The events continued with a hilarious and incredibly welcoming family and group of friends that were sure to make Ben and Steph’s wedding one to remember. Before the evening bonfire, dancing and yoga battles started one of Steph’s best friends, was even challenged by the bartender to a Mai Tai chugging contest.

Opting for a quick day after session the following evening, we spent our last hour of daylight taking advantage of the beautiful grounds and all the resort had to offer until the sun had finally set behind the hills.

From Natalie Franke… There aren’t words in the English language that could adequately describe how incredible Hannah and Mark’s wedding truly was! When we arrived at the Half Moon Resort in Montego Bay, I was absolutely blown away by the beauty of this tropical coastline and the rich history that the resort has developed in Jamaica! Add in an exceptional couple like Hannah and Mark and I knew that I was in for the wedding of a lifetime!

From the beach ceremony to the portraits around the resort, I felt like I was constantly having to pick my jaw up off the floor sand! Everything was styled perfectly and Hannah was one of the most beautiful brides that I’ve ever seen! And not only is she gorgeous, but she has such a compassionate heart! When she found her dress at The Brides Project in Ann Arbor (a bridal boutique where all the proceeds go to the Cancer Support Community of Greater Ann Arbor) she decided to become a volunteer bridal consultant and after working with the organization for a few months was hired to run it! She dedicates her time to helping brides find the perfect gown and raising proceeds for a good cause in the process.

Can’t you see why I fell in love with these two? Ah! Hannah and Mark are an incredible couple and this entire weekend was one for the record books!

Coral + Gray Jamaica Wedding

Winter is upon us New Englanders so I’m officially in hibernation mode. For the next several months I’ll be daydreaming of warm weather and beaches, starting off with this beautiful wedding in Jamaica. Under the guidance of Travel & Events With Style and captured by Dwayne Larson Photography, this celebration has me soaking up every single seaside photo and craving more.

From The Bride… Sean and I wanted to chose a destination that would reflect us as a couple – Sean has been brought up with a Jamaican influence and it has shaped his life since he was a child. When we decided we wanted a beach wedding it seemed like a natural choice for us. Plus it gave everyone an excuse to escape one of the coldest cities in Canada!

As a graphic designer, I started with the stationery design, and the everything else seemed to roll out from there. We wanted our wedding to evoke simple, casual elegance and compliment the gorgeous natural backdrop of Negril. Our color palette was coral, greys, white and a light seafoam green. I based our invitations off a casual handdrawn script I made of our names, and since it was a beach wedding I chose to incorporate stripes to give it a nautical feeling. I chose coral as our main color because it felt tropical and I knew it would look great with the clear blue water as a backdrop. I had custom rubber stamps made with a graphic of the island with a heart overlaying Negril to customize various items. I had the main invitation letter pressed, and tied the pieces together with grey and white bakers twine.

Once the invitations were tackled I got to work planning craft nights with my friends to ensure we had decor that reflected us as a couple. One of our favourite things to do as a couple is to go to see live music, and travel to music festivals. My maid of honour found vintage sheet music at a thrift store that we used to make table runners, and pinwheels to label the bride and groom chairs. We made a backdrop for the guest table out of garland made with music sheets and paper in the color palette I chose. I chose to incorporate shells to tie in the beach theme, and made boutonnieres for the wedding party and family with starfish, grass and music sheets.

We had our ceremony on the beach with the waves crashing just feet away from us. We wanted an intimate feel for the ceremony. The aisle was lined with white lanterns with ribbons flowing from the chairs, and flowing white curtains on bamboo framed the altar. For our guestbook, we really wanted something that would encourage guests to write something more personal, so we made a book with various questions for guests to answer on each page.

Making sure our friends and family had fun at the reception was really important to us, and our choices for music reflected that. We had prepared our own playlist with a wide range of motown, soul, reggae, funk and hip hop, and had spin the bottle dance offs. A highlight of the night was when guests wanted us to kiss, we made them hula hoop. To end the night we set off Chinese Lanterns over the ocean.

My friend Dwayne Larson did our photography, and my maid of honour who is lead photographer with Victoria Anne Photography couldn’t help but snap a few shots for us when she wasn’t fulfilling her attendant duties. It was so great having two people that we feel comfortable with there to capture our day.

I cannot express enough about how much our wedding planner Jaime Valdes- Riench did for us. Planning an event from so far away adds a lot of stress and she made the process unbelievably simple and stress free – she kept us on track with decisions, gave us honest feedback, coordinated meetings with hard-to-nail down vendors and seamlessly planned the flow and sequence of our event.

Ocho Rios Tower Isle Destination Wedding

It just so happens that I was in Ocho Rios almost 5 years ago on my honeymoon, so when I saw a destination wedding in Jamaica with Lauren Fair Photography on the agenda today, I had some pretty high expectations. And leave it to Lauren to completely blow them all out of the water. She captured the wedding (and the island) flawlessly and as luck would have it, it’s all right here.

From the stunning bride… Kyle and I decided to have a destination wedding because it would’ve been impossible to throw a fete as nice at home because the groom comes from a very large family. We knew right away that the most important aspects of our wedding were him and I. After perusing website after website, we came across Couples Tower Isle, a resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica with one very special feature… it’s own private island. In addition, the resort was a hot spot for hollywood royalty in the 50’s and featured art deco styling and clean lines. It reminded us of our favorite hotel back home (The Chelsea in Atlantic City, NJ). I knew we had found our venue! We selected 10/4/13 as our wedding date, our dating anniversary was 4/10 so we felt it fitting. Working with the hotel staff was great, I received phone calls from the wedding manager multiple times in the weeks leading up to our arrival to iron out details and to assure me that everything was going to go off without a hitch!

We traveled to Jamaica and were joined by 26 friends and family members and 4 very talented vendors, Lauren & Tim of Lauren Fair Photography and Greg and Olivia of Willow Tree Films. Photography and videography is extremely important in a destination wedding since not everyone was able to travel with us. There was an itinerary for the weekend including rehearsal dinner on Thursday night, the wedding on Friday and a farewell sunset cruise on Saturday. The hotel catered to our group and surpassed every one of our expectations.

We started our Friday with a quick breakfast, then Kyle and most of the wedding guests went out on the early morning snorkeling trip while I relaxed on the beach for a bit. I think that’s the best part of a destination wedding, I was laying on the beach the same day I said “I do”. There was no stress, no pressure, everything was laid back and it felt amazing! I then headed off to the spa for my hair and makeup appointment. My mom came by a little later and Lauren and Olivia showed up to capture getting ready. After that, we met up with Greg and Tim and ate lunch at the buffet before getting into my dress. After changing into my dress, we set off to meet Kyle for our first look. I was on the verge of tears as I walked towards my groom, so happy that this day had finally come. We then took our formal pictures in the jungle in front of the resort and out on the beach before heading towards the private island.

Kyle and the guests were the first ride over to the island, I would be the last boat to go over. While the guests were on the island waiting for my arrival, the sky above the resort looked as if it might storm, but when I arrived on the island the skies cleared right up. I was given one of our signature cocktails when I got off the boat and a few minutes to sip before walking down the aisle. The music began and I started to head towards my groom. Tears immediately started falling down my face. I don’t think there was a dry eye on the island. What an incredible moment to share with an intimate group of people. Kyle and I wrote our own vows, and tearfully recited them to each other, exchanged rings and the traditional “I Do’s” and sealed it all with a kiss.

The sun was setting on the other end of the island so we raced toward it for some beautiful pictures. I didn’t hesitate and jumped right in the water (only up to my knees) and Kyle needed some more coaxing, but eventually he joined in. I’m so glad he did because those pictures are among our favorites!

Cocktail hour began immediately and flowed flawlessly into dinner and dancing. We were careful to include some traditional Jamaican wedding traditions. Our wedding cake was covered with a ‘veil’ and our mothers lifted the veil to reveal our peach colored cake to our guests. After that, we fed each other pieces of cake from his lips to mine and back.

My favorite detail was my wedding bouquet which was placed inside of a conch shell. I had small and large white orchids with purple hydrangea interspersed. The conch shell made a wonderful souvenir since flowers cannot be brought back from Jamaica.

From Amy ArringtonKelsey and Kevin were married in beautiful Montego Bay, Jamaica, on April 6, 2013. Their ceremony took place on the beach between two palm trees with the clear Caribbean ocean in the background. To keep with the tropical theme, Kelsey wore a pink hibiscus flower in her hair, and Kevin wore a fun straw hat. One of our favorite details from their wedding was their “save the dates,” which were airline ticket themed. Another favorite detail from their wedding was the parting gifts for the guests, which were monogramed beach towels draped over each one of the chairs.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica Wedding from Christina McNeill

This wedding right here?  It’s amazing.  A pink-filled love fest type of amazing with an adorable bride and groom and crystal blue waters filling every last image.  It’s the kind of day that you totally wish you had… and totally wish you could attend.  It’s just that awesome.  And when you dive into the full gallery of lovely captured by Christina McNeill?  Well, you won’t know what to do with yourselves.  So sit back, relax and start your Friday off right here.

From Christina McNeill… Kelsey and Cory had an awesome wedding in Jamaica, on a private island no less. They married at Couples Tower Isle, a resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The hotel decor was inspiring and pretty amazing, so on top of an amazing outdoor venue they also had some sweet spots indoors for photos.

From the Bride… We began looking at venues near our home in New Jersey, but the costs were just adding up and nothing was ever quite what we were looking for. We didn’t want the typical country club or reception hall, and we wanted to be married outdoors. At the time of our engagement, I was going through many difficult things in my life, and wedding planning just added to the stress. That’s when Cory suggested a destination wedding, and the idea stuck. I went on a hunt for the perfect resort, and Couples Tower Isle stood out. The location, the package, and the price were just right. The resort was gorgeous, and after many hours researching and scouring the resort’s forums for others’ wedding experiences, we took the plunge. Without ever having been to the resort, we booked our wedding there!

The Tower Isle was the biggest draw to this Couples resort. There were so many gorgeous resorts but none of them featured a private island which you could have the ceremony, cocktail and reception on. The island was too gorgeous to pass up. Also the fact that everything would be taken care of by my coordinator and there was very little planning to do made our wedding more beautiful and stress free than I could have imagined.

Walking down the aisle and seeing my groom in tears was probably my favorite moment of the day. I had always joked with him that if he didn’t cry when he saw me come down the aisle, that we would have to do it over and over until he did! Turns out he didn’t even need to see me – as soon as the music started playing, he started crying. He’s never been a very emotional guy, so seeing him get so emotional was super sweet.
