A Bloom-Filled Garden Soirée with Classic Style and Soft Hues
Whimsical garden party
Blake and I had been dating for 3.5 years before the proposal. We were on a trip together to London and Scotland. On the last night of our journey, Blake had booked us a “dinner cruise” that ended up being a private boat for our engagement. He proposed on the River Thames, accompanied by fireworks, after gaining permission from parliament. He had our favorite song playing in the background and had hired paid actors to 'play' other guests on the boat until the big moment. After I had said yes, we had the boat to ourselves as we cruised down the river and had our favorite meal and favorite bottle of wine.

Bella Collina Catering served a thoughtfully curated menu beginning with a first course of butternut squash soup with citrus crème fraîche and garden greens topped with sun-dried tomatoes, red onions, toasted pine nuts, Boursin cheese, and balsamic vinaigrette. Guests then chose from three entrée options: grilled filet mignon with truffle whipped potatoes, wild mushroom vol-au-vent, petite carrots, asparagus, and red wine jus; spinach and ricotta stuffed chicken breast with garlic whipped potatoes, petite carrots, asparagus, roasted tomatoes, and herb beurre blanc; or a vegetarian lasagna roulade featuring zucchini, squash, roasted pepper, asparagus, béchamel, and spiced tomato. Late-night bite offerings were served from 11 pm to 1 am in the ballroom and included savory small bites such as mini all-beef hot dogs, truffle fries, shaved parmesan fries, a pizza display, and garlic knots. A custom Tower Bridge ice luge honored the couple’s engagement, and espresso martinis kept the energy going late into the night.
The bride wanted a classic, garden party with timeless decor, with lots of candles and flowers.
