A Modern Black-and-White Wedding with a Southern Twist at The Gadsden House
Mason & Meghan wanted their wedding day to have a modern design with a southern twist, using a classic black and white color palette with gold accents. They loved the feel of the Gadsden House and how it provided a neutral backdrop with a southern feel. Heather with Carolina Occasions went above and beyond making their vision a reality!
Mason & Meghan got engaged in the fall of 2022. Meghan thought that Mason would propose over the holidays, so she wasn't expecting the proposal at all! It turns out that Mason had asked for Meghan's father's blessing back in March of that year. So, Mason planned for several months to make this a special surprise! The day of the proposal, Mason took Meghan to Table Rock Lake, MO. This is a place they have visited often for its gorgeous views! At sunset, Mason asked someone to take their photo with the beautiful view and the sunset. Before Meghan realized it, Mason was down on one knee! Of course, she said yes! And as a sweet surprise, Mason had all of their family and their closest friends meet them there for dinner to celebrate the occasion!
Meghan's ceremony gown was a fit and flare design in satin by Elysee Bridal, who is known for their use of modern silhouettes that contour the shape of the body. The gown was a perfect complement to the modern design of the wedding day itself. Meghan also wore a cathedral-length, pearl-scattered veil, which created a classic southern touch to her modern look! Meghan's reception dress was a fully beaded design by Justin Alexander!
Bridesmaids wore long floor floor-length, classic black floor-length gowns with an off-the-shoulder neckline and carried beautiful white bouquets.
Groomsmen wore classic black tuxes in keeping with the classic black-tie feel of the wedding day.
The Gadsden House is known for its impeccable in-house catering by King Street Hospitality Group. And when you have a wedding in Charleston, food is always a top priority! Guests were served Hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour, which included mini-Chicken & Waffles bites...a southern favorite! Then guests were invited to dine al fresco style in the beautiful courtyard. Guests had their choice of beautifully presented plates as they browsed the variety of culinary stations. Signature drinks included the choice of a Spicy Margherita or a Gold Russian.
Bliss in Bloom was able to play into the bride's vision by creating a modern bouquet of white orchids and tall white floral centerpieces. The ceremony space was a heavenly floral dream of white florals lining both sides of the aisle as they led to a breathtaking white floral altar.
The wedding cake was also designed by King Street Hospitality Group, and they kept with the classic and modern theme by doing a classic white cake with white florals.
During the ceremony, the bride's uncle David conducted a passage reading.
One of the sweetest design elements was the envelope seating chart with handwritten notes from the bride and groom to each guest! What an incredible way to warmly welcome friends and family! It was clear that this couple deeply loves all who attended.
