An Intimate Tented Wedding Like No Other in Autumn Hues at Villa Montanare

The Planning
Design / Vibe / Vision

Elevated old-world romanticism. Since we got married in autumn, we wanted the color palette to reflect the changing seasons and the celebrate the grape and olive harvest taking place during this time in Tuscany. It was important to us that the design not lean too modern or too romantic, just a perfect blend.

Proposal Story

Joey planned a surprise proposal at Lake Como on their first trip together to Italy. We had been together 9 years at that point, so I was not expecting it at all. We both cried happy tears at a very crowded Villa where we were having our photos taken. So it only made sense for us to plan our wedding in Italy as well.

The Fashion
Wedding Gown

I knew the gown was going to be my dress the moment it was buttoned up. I wanted something very simple and timeless (and easy to travel with!) It was also just the right amount of modern to balance out our wedding design.

Groomsman Attire
Joey had a custom suit made complete with personalized initials in the jacket lining he chose.
The Details
Food & Drink

No Italian celebration is complete without an Aperol Spritz. Our cocktail hour was a perfect pairing of delicious cocktails, a champagne tower with rosè Sangiovese Spumante of Baracchi Winery (you looking over the vineyards where they grow the Sangiovese grapes from Villa Montanare), and beautiful small appetizer plates. For the dinner, we ordered a 3-course menu with the most incredible risotto with porcini mushrooms, Bronte tortellini with pistachio cream, and as the main course, a classy "Chianina Bistecca Fiorentina" steak with grilled vegetables. As dessert, we enjoyed the strawberry mascarpone wedding cake.

Florals & Decor

We wanted fluffy, colorful florals that complemented the season and surrounding landscape, like dusty heirloom colors mixed with deep burgundy and plum. Fresh fruits alongside the floral arrangements added to our old-world design goal.

Wedding Cake

The cake was a simple two-tiered strawberry tiramisu decorated with florals in the same palette.

Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs

Joey's uncle was our officiant and had gone to school in Italy, so much of the ceremony was in Italian- it was the most special touch since Italy holds a very special place in our hearts.

Special Detail #1

Troy - the beautiful bride - is a Fine Art photographer by herself, so the perfect fit was the magical Villa Montanare near Cortona, Tuscany, which is owned by the Fine Art wedding planner & designer Weddings by Silke, which made their wedding dreams come reality.

Special Detail #2

"Sposa bagnata sposa fortunata" means a wet bride is a lucky bride. It started to rain unexpectedly during the cocktail hour. No problem at all, Troy and Joey had a beautiful plan B and enjoyed the cocktails with many laughs at the beautiful pool bar. Troy sang along with the singer under an umbrella, and everybody had so much fun. The stunning dinner took place under a beautiful gazebo, which elevated the "Terrazza Bellavista" in an even more cozy and romantic dining area.
