A Chic and Timeless Wedding Set at the Golf Club They Both Grew Up On

The Planning
Design / Vibe / Vision
The wedding exuded a classic and traditional style while maintaining a simple and effortless feel. The couple drew significant inspiration from their shared history growing up at the golf club and their parents' weddings. This was evident in the song choices, the invitations crafted by the bride, and the vintage car inspired by an old photo of the bride's parents. The simplicity and sentimental touches created a heartfelt and memorable celebration that resonated with everyone in attendance.
The Fashion
Wedding Gown
The bride's gown, designed by Monique Lhuillier, featured an altered neckline to create a sweetheart shape and a custom double-bow on the back. She wanted a traditional, poofy veil that complemented the bow without overshadowing it. The result was romantic and timeless.
Bridesmaid Dresses
The two maid of honors wore elegant ivory silk dresses, the rest of the bridal party had the freedom to choose their own attire, which was easy and resulted in a stunning variety of floral and solid-colored dresses that beautifully complemented each other. Both parties got ready at their parents' neighboring homes, allowing them to hear each other laughing and cheering as they took photos in the backyards. Groomsman Attire
The groom and the best man as well as the officiants wore classic black tuxes.
The Details
Food & Drink
The couple served their favorite drinks during the cocktail hour on the patio of the golf club. The bride's choice, Dirty Shirleys, a nostalgic nod to her childhood spent drinking Shirley Temples at the club, were a huge hit. The groom's selection, TSPs (tequila soda pineapples), were simple, delicious, and incredibly popular with the groomsmen. For the meal, they offered a classic wedding menu featuring Caesar salad, flank steak, halibut, and potato-au-gratin. The dessert table was a highlight, with homemade Portland Golf Club ice cream, cookies, and brownies. Afterward, they listened to heartfelt and hilarious speeches and toasted with espresso martinis.
Florals & Decor
The wedding planner and florist extraordinaire, Suzanne Shick, created a stunning backdrop for the ceremony using all white flowers. She decorated the mantles and tables with beautiful greenery, florals, and an abundance of candles. Suzanne sourced all kinds of polished silver decor which was seamlessly integrated throughout the wedding. She also crafted boutonnieres and gorgeous bouquets of white spray roses for the bride and peach spray roses for the maids of honor.
Wedding Cake
The mother of one of the maid of honors made the cake. Rather than opting for a big, fancy cake, the couple wanted a personal size, homemade cake to cut. The result exceeded all expectations, turning out to be a beautiful, two-tiered almond vanilla cake with cream cheese frosting.
Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs
The couple shared their first dance to "Have I Told You Lately" by Van Morrison. Following that, the bride and her father danced to "To Sir With Love" by Lulu, and the groom and his mother danced to Ed Sheeran's cover of "In My Life" by The Beatles. To get the party started, they transitioned into "Let's Groove Tonight" by Earth, Wind & Fire, and the dance floor was flooded with friends and family.
