A Blossoming Coastal Garden Party Wedding on Martha’s Vineyard at Daniel Fisher House

The Planning
Design / Vibe / Vision

Madelyn and Christopher’s garden party-inspired wedding beautifully embraced the late-summer blooms of Martha’s Vineyard, with the island’s coastal charm serving as the perfect backdrop. Madelyn drew inspiration from the vibrant gardens on their venue’s property, blossoming with incredible color.

Proposal Story
During their freshman year at Providence College, Chris invited Madelyn to join a study group for their final exam - a moment that marked the beginning of their journey together. Nearly a decade later, their bond has grown stronger through college memories and post-grad adventures. In June 2023, Chris proposed during a weekend trip to Martha’s Vineyard, planned as a kickoff to summer with Madelyn’s family. That evening, their group had dinner reservations in Edgartown. Chris devised a clever plan, telling Madelyn that their reservations were delayed. He suggested the two take a stroll to the lighthouse to catch the sunset. With a sailboat drifting in the distance, Chris knelt down and revealed a treasured heirloom: Madelyn’s grandmother’s ring. Overwhelmed by the sentimental ring, Madelyn said yes. Chris’s family was hiding in the brush nearby, secretly capturing the moment in photos.
The Fashion
Wedding Gown

A timeless vision, Madelyn posed amid the manicured spaces in her strapless Monique Lhuillier ballgown, carrying a charming white parasol. "The moment I put the dress on, I felt like a bride. I was drawn to the full skirt and strapless neckline."

Groomsman Attire
Chris wore a classic black tuxedo to add to the classic, handsome vision.
The Details
Food & Drink

During cocktail hour, Madelyn and Christopher shared a quiet moment together, sipping drinks and sampling hors d’oeuvres before mingling with guests.

Florals & Decor
Creating the tented setup for their reception felt like a “dream come true” to Madelyn, who expressed her joy in seeing everything come together. Coastal details fell into place through blue-and-white patterned tablecloths, woven basket accents, and hanging lanterns. A floral-adorned seating chart featured names handwritten on blue cutouts shaped like Martha’s Vineyard.
Wedding Cake

The couple's white wedding cake rested on a table near the gardens, adorned with fresh roses and ranunculus, blending seamlessly into the blooming theme of the day.

Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs
The ceremony took place at the picturesque Saint Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, just steps away from the reception venue. After exchanging vows, the couple exited the church, with bridesmaids and family showering them in rose petals as they descended the steps.
Special Detail #1

"Madelyn is a middle school teacher, so we are headed on our honeymoon in June when school gets out. We are planning to go to the French Riviera and the Amalfi Coast to celebrate our Nuptials. Madelyn is actually a French teacher and we are super excited to go away!"

Special Detail #2
"The advice we would give future couples planning their wedding is to take a moment to enjoy every aspect of their wedding celebration. Many times throughout the weekend, we took a step back and looked at the event taking place in front of us with all the people we love most all together in one place. We made sure to enjoy every moment and every event and note how incredible it was for this to be about celebrating our love and our lives together. Through these moments, we really realized how fortunate we are to be surrounded by so much love and joy."
