Moody Meets Modern at This Autumn Vineyard Estate Wedding
The vision for Carly and Nate's wedding was a California-chic autumnal soirée that blended a relaxed, fun atmosphere with effortless beauty. We sought to harmonize romantic and contemporary aesthetics, pairing organic florals and foliage with sleek, modern table settings and furnishings. Thoughtful, personalized touches brought the design to life, such as the bespoke stationery suite inspired by the Sonoma Mountain landscape—the delicate lines on the stationery were traced directly from the mountain’s contours. Another standout detail was the ice cream bar, a nod to the couple's shared hobby of making homemade ice cream. Carly and Nate created custom flavors, which guests enjoyed while choosing their favorite toppings, adding a sweet and personal touch to the celebration. Every element, from the seasonal, family-style menu to the warm and inviting ambiance, was designed to make guests feel appreciated and welcome. This wedding was a testament to the power of intentional design and meaningful details to create an unforgettable experience.
Our proposal was very low-key and intimate — Nate proposed in our kitchen with flowers, an incredible bottle of wine (for us to age and drink on our 10th wedding anniversary), and a beautiful ring before we went out for a celebratory dinner at Saison in San Francisco.
After the ceremony, guests were welcomed with a striking champagne shelf installation, adorned with seasonal fall fruits, nuts, and foliage. This inviting display set the tone for the cocktail hour, blending natural elements with a touch of elegance. Dinner is followed by a thoughtfully curated, seasonal menu served family-style, fostering a sense of intimacy and connection among guests. Every bite reflected the couple’s desire for a warm, communal dining experience.
The wedding cake was a minimalist masterpiece, featuring the same mountain line detail as the stationery, a nod to the Sonoma Mountain landscape that held special meaning for the couple. Its clean design was beautifully complemented by the surrounding lush florals, creating a stunning focal point that seamlessly tied into the overall aesthetic.
There were so many wedding details that were incredible (the flowers! the photographer! the amazing venue, food and wine!). It meant the world to have our family and friends there, and to be able to create an experience that felt true to us (a particular highlight was sharing our love of cooking by creating an entire homemade ice cream bar). But some of the most special moments were the ones where we were able to step away just the two of us. Whether it was enjoying some apps and champagne while signing our marriage certificate, taking a second to look out at our family and friends before walking into dinner together, doing our 'first scoop' of the homemade ice cream for our guests, or when Nate whisked Carly away to the dance floor at the end of the night; the moments where we could enjoy the day together made everything feel extra special thanks to the planning that allowed those moments to happen.
