Step Into an Enchanted Wedding Where “Secret Garden” Meets “Alice in Wonderland" at Nestldown
Imagine stepping into a whimsical, enchanted wonderland where “Secret Garden” meets “Alice in Wonderland.” That was the essence of our wedding day. Nestled in the heart of the redwood forest at Nestldown, everything felt magical, with lush florals, flickering candles, and natural details. The couple wanted to create an experience that transported our guests into a fairytale world, full of love, beauty, and wonder.
Jamey’s proposal was nothing short of perfect and completely “them.” It took place during Thanksgiving in Winter Park, Colorado, surrounded by the people they love most—Richelle’s big, boisterous, and hilariously chaotic family. They had rented a gorgeous mountain home, and with over 20 of us under one roof, it was a weekend filled with laughter, games, and love. Jamey originally planned to propose on Thanksgiving Day, but the nerves got to him (adorable, right?). The next day, as we all gathered around the dining table playing Exploding Kittens (a family favorite) and sharing what we were thankful for, Jamey took his turn. He stood up, and the room went quiet as he began talking about how grateful he was for our life together and the love he felt from being part of Richelles family. Then, to her surprise—and in front of everyone who means the world to the bride—he got down on one knee and asked her to be his forever. It was heartfelt, intimate, and exactly how she had always imagined—sharing such a monumental moment surrounded by the people who shaped them. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house, and Richelles heart has never felt so full.
Her bridesmaids wore stunning dresses by Shona Joy in two complementary shades: Terracotta and Antique Rose. The dresses, with their silky and elegant silhouettes, reflected the warm and romantic tones of the day. The mix of colors added depth and visual interest, creating a beautifully cohesive look that popped against the lush greenery of the redwoods.
Their menu was a celebration of delicious flavors and meaningful inspiration. Guests dined on Prime Sirloin Tri Tips, West Coast Salmon Filets, and Roasted Vegetable Ravioli. For hors d’oeuvres, we served oysters, beef satay, and vegetarian arancini. Our signature cocktails were inspired by cherished moments: Spicy Mezcalitas, a nod to our magical Tulum getaway, and refreshing Mojitos, reminiscent of family gatherings. For dessert, they served a petite wedding cake adorned with florals, paired with an assortment of tiramisu shots, key lime pie shots, and chocolate-dipped strawberries.
The redwood forest already provided a breathtaking backdrop, so we worked to accentuate its natural beauty. The decor featured lush florals, including orchids and hydrangeas, paired with cascading greenery. Mixed-height candles created a warm, glowing atmosphere, while the florals and arrangements tied everything together with a romantic, whimsical touch. A huge thank you to Rachelle Castaneda from Friday Flowers for bringing the floral magic to life! The natural charm of Nestldown added its own magic, making it feel like a true fairytale setting.
Their two-tier wedding cake was simple yet stunning, with a Chantilly cream filling and Italian Meringue Buttercream. Decorated with soft florals, it tied into the romantic aesthetic of the day while providing a sweet, elegant centerpiece for the dessert table.
Their ceremony music was performed by the Garden Strings trio, who created a serene and magical ambiance. Rabbi Sara Shendelman officiated, blending traditions from Christianity, Judaism, Native American spirituality, and Yoruba culture. We also wrote our own mission statement, which made the ceremony deeply personal and meaningful. It was a beautiful reflection of our values and love.
The most meaningful part of their wedding day was having all the people they loved gathered together to celebrate their love. Seeing our friends and family, who have supported us through our journey, all in one place, laughing, crying, and dancing, was truly the most incredible gift.
Exchanging vows amidst the towering redwoods was an extraordinary experience. These ancient trees, with their strength and resilience, felt like silent witnesses to the couple's union, symbolizing growth, longevity, and the deep roots of their love. The redwoods stood tall, creating a sacred, natural cathedral that added a profound sense of awe and reverence to their ceremony.
