One of my and Garrett’s favorite things to do together is travel. So for Christmas one year I decided to surprise Garrett with flights to Iceland – it had been at the top of our travel list for some time. We took our trip to Iceland and little did I know the surprise that Garrett had in store for me as well. On day 3 of our trip we woke up at sunrise to see the place that I had been dreaming of seeing for years, Stokksnes. Garrett and I have always asked each other if we had to choose between the beach or the mountains which one would we choose – we can never answer that question because we love them both. Well for those that have never heard of Stokksnes, it is a place where the black sand beach meets the jagged mountains that line its coast. So it’s both! Once we got to the beach of course I had to set up my tripod to document us in this place, I pressed the record button on my camera and then we danced around the beach. A few moments later Garrett got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. It was one of the happiest moments of my life!

Guests were greeted with Green Tomato Bruschetta, Ahi Tuna Tacos, Mini Braised Pork Biscuits, and Mini Philly Cheese Steaks as the passed appetizers at cocktail hour. Cru Catering also designed a fabulous raw bar oyster display to bring in the culture of the coast. Once the guests took their seats at the reception, they enjoyed traditional bread service and a Southern Arugula Salad with a Honey-Sherry Vinaigrette. Their main course was a duel entree featuring pan-seared local white fish and filet mignon. The entree was accompanied by garlic-whipped potatoes and grilled asparagus. The wedding cake was served as dessert.

The florals were provided by Candice Stewart of CS Floral Design. She traveled from Birmingham to Charleston for this wedding. We went with pink flowers at the ceremony, then more pastel colors at the reception along with trees to bring nature into the tent.

Julia had a vision of a 3 layered cake with statement florals surrounding it and RISE Bakery did just that. The white wedding cake, encircled by a wreath of fresh, vibrant flowers, exudes an air of graceful charm and refinement. The vanilla cake with buttercream icing was so delicious and every guest wanted more!

Julia and Garrett ended the night by singing Forever by Chris Brown with all of their family and friends before saying goodbye for their 3-month long honeymoon in Europe.

The seating chart was a luggage tag wall that was custom-made. It was a nod to the bride and groom’s love for travel. They spent 3 months backpacking Europe for their honeymoon.

Low Country Valet transported our guests from their accommodations to the venue and back on the sage Volkswagen-inspired bus “Jasper”.
