This Vineyard Owner's Wedding Was All About Seasonal Celebration
After an intimate proposal at Eden Rift Vineyard, California's oldest operating vineyard, Michelle and Christian knew they wanted to welcome their friends and family back for their wedding celebration. As the owner and operator of the vineyard, Christian wanted his wedding to Michelle to be a weekend filled with fine wine, effortless design, and representation of their backgrounds (Michelle is Taiwanese-American and Christian is a fifth-generation San Francisco native). Drawing inspiration from the colors and textures of early summer at the vineyard, the wedding day design was chic and effortless, with emphasis placed on the florals, the cuisine (and wine!), and the fashion for an instantly epic occasion.
Cocktail hour featured passed bites inspired by the couple’s favorite Asian flavors featuring Beef Tataki Onigiri and Carrot Sesame Bao. A bright consumer was served to transition guests from the eastern palette to classic California dishes featuring locally sourced ingredients such as spring artichokes and sea bass. Dinner was held in a beautiful white structure under the oak trees with warm lighting creating soft lines throughout the space. Jazz musicians carried guests through the 3-course meal in the structure before transitioning to an after party under the moonlight DJ’d by Vandelux, a friend of the couple.
A highlight of the design was the multidimensional florals created by Jenn Sanchez pulling in expected textures with lush blooms creating modern and sophisticated arrangements.
Christian surprised Michelle with a special bottling created for the wedding with custom art by Heather Day, who introduced the couple. Two of Eden Rift’s most award-winning wines were bottled for the occasion - 2018 Terraces Pinot Noir and 2019 Estate Chardonnay - with labels to celebrate the couple and the beauty of the estate. The special bottling was named the Espousailles Cuvee as a nod to the nuptials.
