Rachel and Wright’s wedding day was a perfect blend of coastal elegance and thoughtful hospitality. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of The Ocean Course on Kiawah Island, the event featured a neutral color palette complemented by lush, understated florals and chic marine blue accents. Every detail was designed with the guest experience in mind, from the lively putting competition on the greens to the spirited second line that led everyone to the reception. The result was a celebration that felt both sophisticated and inviting, with the natural beauty of the coastal venue enhancing every moment.

Proposal Story

Wright and I were always supposed to be “off limits.” As the younger brother of one of my best friends, Becca, he wasn’t someone I was meant to flirt with—so naturally, I did. What began as playful banter during Becca’s engagement and wedding celebrations turned into something more. After our first date, we never looked back. Fast forward to Labor Day weekend in Highlands, NC, a cherished destination for Wright’s family. I was told we were heading there for a golf tournament, though I don’t even play golf! As it turned out, there was no tournament—the weekend had been a cleverly orchestrated plan. It was a rainy afternoon and Wright suggested we head to dinner early while the others got ready. On the way, he took a "shortcut" through a scenic neighborhood, parked the car, and led me down a trail to a breathtaking overlook of the Smoky Mountains. Despite my hesitation about hiking in the rain after just doing my hair, I followed him—and it was worth it. At the exact moment we reached the overlook, the rain softened, and a double rainbow appeared. Wright knelt down, said the sweetest words, and asked me to marry him. A hidden photographer captured the moment, and we spent time soaking in the joy before returning to the house, where Wright’s family had planned a surprise celebration. The most touching part? Walking into the kitchen to see my dad, whom Wright had secretly invited to share in this special moment. We spent the rest of the weekend celebrating in the mountains before returning to Nashville to begin planning our wedding adventure!

During cocktail hour, guests enjoyed passed hors d'oeuvres and bourbon cocktails while competing in the putting competition on the green. At dinner, guests dined on southern and coastal favorites at dinner like shrimp and grits and filet with whipped gold potatoes.

Florals & Decor

The florals for Rachel and Wright's wedding at the Ocean Course were the perfect touch of coastal elegance. The ceremony featured lush arrangements of white roses, delphiniums, lisianthus, and seasonal greenery that created a romantic, timeless vibe and blended beautifully with the oceanfront backdrop. Flowing arrangements lined the aisle, leading to a stunning altar display that framed the couple perfectly against the coastal horizon. At the reception, the tables were adorned with soft, neutral floral centerpieces paired with textured greenery, adding a natural yet sophisticated charm to the tented space. The blooms tied seamlessly into the marine blue and neutral color palette, elevating the entire day.

Rachel and Wright’s wedding cake was a true work of art. The four-tiered creation featured a smooth, elegant buttercream finish, adorned with cascading, sculptural sugar flowers that added a touch of modern sophistication. Set on a vintage-inspired silver stand, the cake perfectly complemented the refined yet romantic aesthetic of their wedding day.
