A Spring Mountain Wedding Colored by Wildflowers at Black Canyon Inn
The Planning
Design / Vibe / Vision
Our vision was a spring mountain wedding colored by wildflowers! I love dinner by candlelight; our meals at home are often illuminated with light and warmth. I wanted a sense of familiarity amidst the glow of candlelight for the reception with vibrant wildflowers throughout.
Proposal Story
Justin and I went on a ski strip with close friends to Fernie, British Columbia. We stayed at a beautiful chalet. The expansive back patio looks out on a stunning view of the Canadian rockies. Everyone was in on the proposal, except me. Justin tricked me into thinking we were going to the hot tub for a quick dip after a day of skiing. Instead of kneeling, Justin got off his wheelchair and onto a raised patio step, took the ring out of his wheelchair pocket and asked me to marry him!

The Fashion
Wedding Gown
I found my dress at Little White Dress. It’s a gorgeous A line from Enaura bridal. I fell in love with it the minute I tried it on. I just felt so elegant and special for the momentous occasion. I wanted a dress that I could look back on as timeless with a touch of luxury, and this dress definitely made me feel comfortable in my own skin.
Bridesmaid Dresses
I had 11 bridesmaids! I trusted them all to choose their own dresses. I did provide my bridesmaids with a mauve/champagne/pink color palette and they just nailed it. They all did an amazing job coordinating style and color.

The Details
Food & Drink
Matt Townley, Head Chef of The Black Canyon Inn, blew our expectations out of the water. Somehow the food on the day was even more exquisite than at the tasting.
Florals & Decor
Spring wildflowers throughout the ceremony and reception brought vibrant color and a spirit of joy. Deb Harris of The Garden was flawless in her taste and was an absolute treat to work with.
Wedding Cake
Homemade Mini Churros from Estes Park's very own Bird's Nest. Served with vanilla ice cream, chocolate ganache and caramel dipping sauces.
Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs
Justin's mother Randi led us in prayer and my brother Luis read from scripture: Ecclesiastes 4:9-12.
Special Detail #1
You might not notice at first, but Black Canyon Inn has is not just a stunning mountain venue, it is also an accessible one. From the subtle ramp leading naturally up to the altar to the beautiful hard wood floors and spacious modern amenities, we loved that accessibility concerns were far from our minds on our big day!
Special Detail #2
Maria expressed her Peruvian culture and love for all things color through a traditional Peruvian skirt worn under her wedding dress
Special Detail #3
During their second set, the HomeSlice big band was joined by Justin (trumpet), his 2 brothers Tyler and Colby (drums & tenor Saxophone), father Larry (piano) and cousin Daniel (guitar). Needless to say, they brought the house down!
