Swedish Midsummer and Minimalism Inspired the Beauty of This Tented Spring Wedding
The Planning
Design / Vibe / Vision
The vision for the wedding was an expansive celebration influenced by Swedish Midsummer and minimalism to honor Rebecka's heritage and memories of time spent in Sweden. The couple wanted to fully embrace the beauty of an outdoor wedding, giving their guests an elevated garden party experience from start to finish. The understated backdrop of white linens, white draping, and natural wood helped the colorful florals pop, giving the guests the experience of an elegant summer celebration!
Proposal Story
Rebecka's parents live on Cape Cod in Barnstable, so she and Nick visited Nantucket often. In 2021, they took a trip to the Nantucket Christmas Stroll with their golden retriever Ryder, her sister and her parents. They all split up once the ferry arrived to the island but Rebecka didn’t think much of it. Nick suggested that they go to the Brant Point lighthouse to take some photos. Rebecka thought that was a little weird since Nick isn’t the one who usually wants to take pictures. She quickly realized what was about to happen when they got to the beach and she noticed him looking around anxiously. When they reached “the spot”, Nick handed her Ryder's leash and when she looked back at him he said “are you ready to do this” and got down on one knee. Nick then pointed out that her family was also at the lighthouse watching in the distance. They spent the rest of the weekend celebrating at Cisco Brewery and The Chicken Box. Rebecka's engagement ring is actually from a Nantucket based jeweler, Calista West, so that made Nantucket more of a perfect place for the proposal.

The Fashion
Wedding Gown
Finding the perfect dress was quite the challenge for Rebecka. It started when she said yes to a dress then canceled the order an hour later. She then found “the one” at L’Elite in Boston a couple weeks after that. When it came time for my first fitting, I quickly realized the dress I picked didn’t feel like me. Luckily, the staff at L’Elite was so helpful with restarting the search. A sales associate pulled a beautiful drop waist Carolina Herrera gown off the rack, even though it wasn’t close to what she was searching for. The dress fit like a glove. She was obsessed the very second she put it on and still obsessed to this day. For the reception, she wore a lace Brock Collection gown. She wanted something feminine and easy to run around in.
Bridesmaid Dresses
The bridesmaids dresses were from Amsale. Rebecka's sister (MOH) wore a Monique Lhullier dress. She wanted the girls to feel good in what they were wearing so she told them to wear any style they felt best in. As for the color, she went with a blush pink. To her, blush is a timeless/summery color so she knew it would fit the wedding perfectly. A common theme throughout was wanting the girls to feel their best!

Florals & Decor
The florals from Avela Floral Design were vibrant and airy arrangements of flowers, primarily locally grown in the Berkshires. Celebrating June and Midsummer through the use of poppies, peonies, ranunculus, and sweet peas the colors really popped against the neutral design elements chosen by Rebecka, who was instrumental in bringing her vision together with her amazing eye for design!
For Rebecka's bouquet Amy with Avela Floral Design was inspired by Rebecka's Carolina Herrera dress which was so classically elegant yet luxurious, Amy knew the bouquet needed to emulate that same look. She kept it simple and small, choosing locally grown specialty blooms in creamy tones with light touches of blush.
Rebecka pulled together design elements from Drape Art Designs who transformed the tent with their simple and elegant draping, bistro lights, and rattan pendants which Avela Floral Design adorned with simple vines to keep the entire design ethereal and spacious. Rebecka chose natural wooden elements throughout, sourcing her own candle holders and pulling together rentals from various companies to achieve the overall Swedish minimalist look.
For the stationary Abby Armistead created custom floral filled illustrations to adorn the couple's stationary suite. The delicate floral illustrations were the perfect addition to the garden party aesthetic.
Wedding Cake
The cake was classic and simple, designed by Stacie's Cookie World and adorned with dried and pressed flowers.
Special Detail #1
On what looked like a rainy and overcast day, Rebecka and Nick's dream ceremony location on the lawns of Chesterwood with views of the Berkshire Hills didn't seem like it would be a possibility. But at the very last minute the skies cleared up and lead by the extraordinary Mary Kate Morrissey of MK Your Dream Day the entire vendor team lent a hand to move the ceremony out onto the lawn and the couple's outdoor ceremony dreams came true!
Special Detail #2
Rebecka's mom is from Sweden, so she grew up spending half of her childhood there with family. It was important that they incorporated that part of her into their wedding day and overall wedding weekend. The wedding fell on Midsummer, so their rehearsal/welcome party was centered around the holiday. Rebecka's in-laws actually surprised her with a beautiful maypole that they built for it. Rebecka and Nick also incorporated Swedish heritage throughout the wedding with a Swedish reading during the ceremony by a close family friend and Swedish meatballs during cocktail hour (they also had Italian meatballs for Nick). And they couldn’t forget about ABBA. They made sure the band played plenty of it all night long.
Special Detail #3
With Nick being a huge Bruce Springsteen fan, Rebecka wanted to do something special for him and their ceremony music was the perfect thing to surprise him with. She reached out to Stephen Beerkens to create a piano mashup version of Nick’s favorite Springsteen songs, which was then performed by the pianist/keyboard player who was part of their band, The Sultans. Shockingly, she was able to keep this secret from Nick and he realized the surprise when he started walking towards the aisle and heard the music playing.
