A Wedding Palette Inspired by a Coastal Summer Sunset at Terranea Resort

This wedding was an ode to California inspired elements, with modern and elegant infusions of sunset tones. Selecting Terranea as the backdrop to host this wedding, guests were asked to dress West Coast formal with fun and colorful designs. Important elements of comfort and bright colors of the wedding were required and requested by the couple and families. With the first part of the wedding ceremony, cocktail and dinner being outdoors against Terranea's breathtaking ocean cliff view, the couple requested to have some of the outdoor/coastal elements brought indoors. We brought in large trees and vignettes of lounge seating that still allowed for flow and access to the dance floor, bars and desserts. Most importantly was highlighting the band as this was a dancing crowd. Ensuring that the band stage and backdrop also continued with the themed colors and elements, adding a subtle touch on the stage helped to make the space feel more colorful and intimate.

The Bride selected a very modern, chic and fashionable off the shoulder large puff sleeved Monique Llhuillier white wedding gown to wear. As a little fun touch, she wore a very special hand embroidered floral veil walking down the ceremony.

Each bridesmaid wore different color tones matching the overall wedding sunset coastal theme.

Despite the wedding elements being coastal, the Groom and Groomsmen were dressed in formal black tux attire to keep with the elevated and chic atmosphere.

The couple added custom signature drinks where guests were able to choose between a zesty Spicy Margarita, featuring Tanteo Jalapeño Tequila, fresh lemon juice, soda water, agave syrup, a splash of orange juice, a Tajín-rimmed glass, and a jalapeño garnish, or a refreshing Passion Fruit Fizz, made with passion fruit puree, Pinot Grigio, and soda water. During dinner, guests were welcomed with a refreshing watermelon salad with arugula, watermelon, California Feta, red onion, Persian cucumbers and an orange mint dressing. For their 2nd Course, guests previously chose either the Pacific Halibut featuring a Terranea Honey Jus or grilled "eye" of the ribeye with purple cauliflower, orange carrot and confit of marble potato. Vegetarian guests were served a delicious market vegetable risotto. To finalize the dinner set, guests were invited into the lounge and dancing space where a an ice cream sundae bar selection of vanilla, chocolate and mango sorbet with selection of toppings were made available. To cap off the evening, wedding cake by Vanilla Bake Shop was cut and served with coffee and tea.

Being a florist herself and owning a shop in Connecticut (Lemon Dahlia), Karen, mother of the bride played a hand in creating the bridal bouquet as a tribute to her daughter and showcasing her craft. Honeycomb Affair adorned ceremony and remaining spaces in the venue with bright and vibrant dahlias, poppies, cosmos, bougainvillea, faux or dried, and garden roses.

For anyone with a sweet tooth, a 4-tiered cake was available with layers of vanilla lemon berry and triple berry cream.

A beautiful and loving ceremony featured songs by The Beach Boy - “God Only Knows” and “Good Vibrations” along with “In My Life” by The Beatles (Bridal Song) and a processional fit for the coastal them, “California” by Phantom Planet. Their first dance song is one we all love, a classic, Fade Into You by Mozzy Star. The bride and groom each danced with their supportive and loving parents to Strangers In The Night by Frank Sinatra and La Vie En Rose by Louis Armstrong.
