Southern Elegance Wedding With a Touch of New Orleans at Thompson Dallas

The Planning
Design / Vibe / Vision

Classy, traditional, and timeless with touches of New Orleans and Texas to incorporate their families, as well as references to American Airlines (where they both met).

Proposal Story

HOW THEY MET: The day was March 6th, 2021, and I was at DFW Airport's Gate B34 about to hop on a flight to Panama City Beach, FL. I caught a glimpse of Olivia for the first time walking down the terminal with friends, one group of several girls trips on my flight that day. I boarded and grabbed my seat, 6A. Shortly after that, Olivia sat right next to me in 6C, both of us in face masks. I spent about five or so minutes trying to figure out what to say to her first, and in the most creative fashion asked, "Are you going on Spring Break?". I am known to have the best pickup lines… She replied and soon we figured out that we were both seniors in college, moving to Dallas, and starting our careers in commercial real estate. We chatted it up the whole flight, from takeoff to landing. In the end, I asked for her number and asked her if she wanted to go out when we both got back to Dallas. A week later, we did exactly that. However, the date lasted much longer than either of us expected. All evening, we zipped around Dallas to more than several spots that we still hang around to this day. Turns out, that was the first of many dates, with many more to come. Olivia connected with my family instantly, particularly my sister Abby, which made me fall in love with her even faster. My closest friends loved her just as much. After two years, we still make great, wonderful memories every single day. PROPOSAL STORY: Jack asked to marry me on the back porch of his family home in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. We celebrated with a beautiful dinner at home with our families right after. It was the best day!

The Details
Food & Drink

The food was an array of stations served family style all night long (New Orleans Style)

Florals & Decor

The decor included over-the-top pink and coral florals, with touches of blue and sage green. There were touches of American airline details in the cocktail hour napkins, as well as the services dressed like American Airlines flight attendants. Likewise, photos of their parents were hung up on the welcome board. For the rehearsal Dinner, Alice and Aprocat transformed the Adolphus Hotel into New Orleans to reference where Jack grew up in. Furthermore, the welcome dinner was a Texas theme. They ended the night with a second-line band parade in Dallas to share Jack's New Orleans traditions with their guests.

Wedding Cake

Classic, white geometric cake. Fun fact, after Jack and Olivia cut the cake, they had their bridesmaids do a traditional New Orleans cake pulling, where they pulled out a charm with a fortune.
