Tonal Blues Complemented by Natural Wood Elements and Fresh Greenery at Black Butte Ranch
The Planning
Design / Vibe / Vision
This wedding design features a palette of tonal blues, complemented by natural wood elements and fresh greenery. The setting is modern, with a romantic garden ambiance and elegant vibes, creating a beautiful and serene atmosphere for Emily and Adam's wedding celebration.
Proposal Story
The couple got engaged not too far away from where they were married at Black Butte Ranch. The Ranch has always been a special place for them as a couple and them were so excited to share the Black Butte Ranch experience with Adam’s parents who were visiting from Massachusetts. While out on a walk around the Ranch with Emily’s mom and her dog, and Adam’s parents, they stopped to “take a picture” where there was a view of Emily and her late dad’s favorite mountain. Completely unaware of what was about to happen, Emily posed for the photo and then looked over to Adam to see him holding a ring and he then got down on one knee and officially popped the question. After the proposal, they wrapped up our walk and when they returned to the condo, Emily’s sister was waiting to surprise the newly engaged couple!
Funny story! Before leaving the condo for their walk, Emily teasingly felt Adam’s pockets for an engagement ring. Thankfully Adam had the ring in a jewelry pouch and not the classic ring box so Emily didn’t feel it–whew!

Bridal Portraits
The Fashion
Wedding Gown
Emily's wedding dress was an elegant, off-the-shoulder gown with a form-fitting silhouette that flares out gently at the bottom. It features intricate floral lace detailing throughout the fabric, adding a touch of romance and sophistication. The dress has a sheer overlay, creating a light and airy feel, perfect for a modern yet timeless bridal look. The long, flowing train adds an extra element of grace and drama to the overall design.
Bridesmaid Dresses
The bridesmaids' dresses were a soft, pastel blue color, which creates a cohesive and elegant look. The dresses feature different styles, with some bridesmaids wearing off-the-shoulder designs and others in spaghetti straps or cap sleeves, adding variety while maintaining a unified color theme. The fabric has a silky, satin finish, which adds a touch of luxury and sophistication. The bridesmaids complement their looks with simple, white bouquets with each having a single type of floral type to all add up to Emily's stunning bouquet.
Groomsman Attire
The groomsmen were dressed in sharp, navy blue suits paired with light blue ties, creating a stylish and coordinated look. Each suit is complemented by a white dress shirt and a white pocket square, adding a classic touch. The ensemble is finished with white boutonnieres, tying in with the overall wedding color scheme and providing a crisp, elegant contrast to the blue suits.

The Details
Food & Drink
The meal began with a Hearts of Romaine Salad, featuring a classic Caesar dressing, freshly grated Parmesan Reggiano, and crispy croutons. For the main course, guests enjoyed Alaskan Halibut, served with a Basmati Rice Pilaf, Heirloom Carrots, and a rich Citrus Coconut Curry sauce. Another option was the American Wagyu Striploin, accompanied by Garlic-Herb Whipped Potatoes, tender Haricot Verts, and a flavorful Cabernet Demi-Glace. For vegetarian guests, there was a delicious Forest Mushroom Lasagna.
At the wedding, guests enjoyed a delightful selection of beverages, including exquisite Oregon wines that showcased the region's finest vineyards. The bar also served expertly crafted cocktails, such as the sophisticated Espresso Martini, offering a perfect blend of rich coffee flavor and smooth spirits. Another popular choice was the classic French 75, a refreshing cocktail made with gin, champagne, lemon juice, and a touch of sugar, adding a sparkling and elegant touch to the celebration.
Florals & Decor
A true celebration of Spring, we leaned into the fleeting seasonal blooms for a flower forward aesthetic. We recreated the scene of walking through a lush garden, incorporating layers of hydrangea, campanula, sweet peas, nigella, delphinium, garden roses, and underripe blueberries for visual texture.
Imagine walking through a garden and holding out your hand to gently touch a spray of delphinium with your fingertips. The sense of serene beauty. That's the feeling we wanted guests to have as they experienced the celebration. Immersed. Elevated. Natural.
Wedding Cake
For dessert, a display offered a selection of four options: Dark Chocolate Tart, S'mores Trifle, Mini Red Velvet Cupcakes, and Berry Shortcake Jars. The meal concluded with a two-tier cutting cake, featuring vanilla cake layered with milk chocolate mousse and Italian buttercream.
Special Detail #1
Emily and Adam’s signage design was inspired by their favorite florals and a classic garden vintage vibe. We brought the key blooms of their arrangements into custom watercolor designs that spanned across their various signage elements from bar + dessert menus to guestbook sign to a plated dinner selection identifier on each guests menu. The highlight was a statement 10 foot seating chart wall that boasted a bloom filled bud vase for each guest that was hand stamped with a custom E+A wax seal.
