Wine Country Wedding Proves Something Blue Is Always the Answer

The Planning
Design / Vibe / Vision
The couple’s main priority in the wedding design was to embrace the venue’s wine country setting. This was a destination wedding for their guests, so showcasing their favorite things from the Napa Valley was a key component to the weekend’s overall feel. From a custom watercolor vineyard landscape in the invitation suite, to olive branch details and even cork backings on the stationery; the wedding design had not-so-subtle nods to wine country at every turn.
The Details
Food & Drink
Jenn Robirds Events reached out to Park Avenue catering to create a custom summer menu to showcase the best of wine country. Park Avenue answered the call and created a seasonal but hearty menu for the couple to make sure all the guests left satisfied. For appetizers, guests noshed on summer corn arancini with basil oil, prosciutto and goat cheese mini pizzettes with arugula and fig-balsamic reduction, and wine country BBQ pork with papaya-jicama slaw. Dinner started with wines from B.R. Cohn and a first course of local burrata and heirloom tomato salad. Guests noshed on filet with summer corn succotash and house made gnocchi with chanterelle mushrooms and seasonal summer squash.
Florals & Decor
Decor: The couple’s style was clean and timeless. The planning team kept things neutral in the reception space with floor length ivory linens from BBJ. Interest was added by layering lots of textures. The dinner chairs were off white but had amazing cane backing with interesting turned legs and linen tufted seats. The flatware featured olive wood handles, lovingly selected to continue our olive theme. Organic rim stoneware china felt un-fussy yet elevated. Modern edge glassware made the whole look feel current. A satin green napkin was a perfect natural pop and allowed the flowers to steal the show. Florals: Jenn Robirds partnered with Macy of the Posh Posey to create the floral theory for the wedding. Katie’s dress was feminine with embroidered flowery details. The goal for the wedding day floral design was a romantic and soft extension of the bride’s attire. Fluffy flowers with local foliage were the perfect pair. The dinner table flowers showcased a long floral runner drawing your eye through the space. The ceremony arch framed the couple as they said their vows- a perfect frame for the rolling vineyards. The pops of blue flowers turned out to be the perfect addition as the morning of the wedding the bride was gifted a spectacular aquamarine diamond necklace and earring set from her family. Proof that something blue is always a good idea!
Wedding Cake
The wedding cake was anything but your standard white cake- an unexpected sage top tier with the couple’s monogram and olive leaves tied the color theory together yet again. Dried lemon slices and fresh olive branches gave guests a hint at what was inside: a decadent olive-oil Meyer lemon cake by the talented Flour and Bloom Bakery.
Special Detail #1
The reception patio space was made playful with custom ordered Edison bulbs over 24’ long tables. Dripping smilax greens in the ceiling brought nature inside. After sunset the flicker of candles and the warm glow of the Edison bulbs set the stage for an intimate dining experience.
