Neutrals with pops of various greens (emphasis on the chartreuse) & lavender So first of all, the venue we chose was very southern. Like, Lowcountry Southern. Gorgeous, but Southern is not my style at all, or Lawson’s. We wanted to give it a whole vibe that existed on its own but complimented the southern beauty of the resort. Lawson loves lavender, so we started there. And I was very into the combination of lavender and chartreuse. We knew that if done right it would be really beautiful. I think we pulled it off. Our wedding choices reflected both of us at every point. It was never about what I wanted… we wanted it to feel like us, and it did.

Priority number 1 for us was always about the experience for us and our guests. We wanted to be present. Unbothered by the usual stresses of the wedding day. It was about our family becoming whole. Togetherness. Love. Joy. Friendship. Not pretty flowers… which by the way were gorgeous. We never cared about the fluff. We never cared about being featured in a magazine, all of that stuff didn’t really matter to us. Our vision was us. It’s funny, I think not being so consumed by all of the little things that didn’t matter made it all the more effortless and beautiful.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

We were on a family vacation with my (Kelsey) side of the family in Aspen Colorado. I had an idea that he might be thinking about proposing, we had already talked about what a life together would be like. We drove up to this beautiful spot at the Maroon Bells in Aspen and he surprised me there and asked me to marry him. My ring was a family heirloom. It belonged to his grandmother, who had recently passed before our engagement. She was amazing and it is an honor to wear her diamond.

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Most of all, I wanted to feel like myself. I wanted my gown to be beautiful but effortless and at the same time give me a moment to feel bridal. I loved my veil. It felt very romantic in contrast with my more modern slinky gown. I opted to forego an outfit change and it was the right call. I was happy dancing all night in my gown.

The rehearsal dinner outfit was Tom Ford. Enough said. I loved it as soon as I saw it. I think it will be in my closet forever![/field]

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

The wedding planner curated a style guide for the bridesmaids to get inspiration for attire. The bridesmaids wore mix-and-match dresses; pattern play and solids, in hues of champagne, lavender, and chartreuse.

[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]

The Groom wore a custom tuxedo made by Bauman’s in Little Rock. The Groomsmen wore their own suits and opted for a casual no-tie look.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

We kept everything fairly neutral, leaning into the character and charm of the venue; a mix of greens, accents of lavender, and pops of chartreuse. The design was clean, modern, and fresh. The Bride & Bridesmaids carried a hand-tied bouquet of tulips. The Mothers carried nosegays of lavender tulips + chartreuse orchids. The rehearsal dinner included tropical foliage: Birds of Paradise, Palmetto, Areca Palm, and Monstera. Reception floral included large groupings of lavender tulips, paired with other tropical florals.

The Bride & Groom cut into a cake for the tradition but served their guests raspberry sorbet in lieu of cake.

When it was time to go to the rehearsal dinner, we decided it would be so fun to go by boat. It was Lawson, myself, and the two boys. Initially, I was indifferent about if we should do it, but Lawson insisted. He was so right! I am not sure I can explain the magic but it was a chance for the 4 of us to be completely alone, we took it all in. The kids took turns driving the boat through the May River. We saw dolphins

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

Can I say the entire wedding weekend??? Okay, fine.. so there was a moment for me just before the ceremony. I was “hiding out” in a blacked-out SUV parked just near the entrance of the chapel. No one knew I was there. I watched as our family and friends lined up, ready to walk the aisle of the church. I got to see the emotion on Lawson’s face as he hugged his mother, fist bumped with his friends, and generously greeted mine. My heart was full seeing the man I was about to walk toward and give my future to absolutely beaming. And then as if that’s not enough, he took the hands of both of my little boys and proudly walked into the church to wait for me. It’s the vision of the three of them standing at the altar as I walked through the door waiting to make our family official that brings me to tears even now writing this to you. Phew!

[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

Wedding Day started with all the ladies attending Brunch with the Bride, and all the gentlemen attending Gold with the Groom. The morning was slow, intimate, and intentional.
