Retro-Inspired Garden Party at Barr Mansion in Austin

The Planning
Design / Vibe / Vision
The Remi and gold floral team brought the couple's wedding colors to life with a vibrant and full ceremony arch. They utilized yellow, gold, orange and white blooms, along with compote aisle arrangements to create an airy and open garden party feel. Barr Mansion's modern farmstead complemented the historic getting ready house, further tying into the modern yet nostalgic feel for the day.
Proposal Story
After six years of dating, the groom planned a touching proposal at Vic Mathias Shores overlooking the Austin skyline. For the highschool sweethearts, the location was deeply sentimental—the park was named after the bride’s late grandfather, a cherished figure whose presence was especially felt on that day. The proposal ended with a joyous “Yes,” lots of cheering from locals at the park, and celebrations alongside close family and friends.
The Fashion
Wedding Gown
The bride's gown was designed by Alexandra Grecco and featured a square neckline with floral lace detailing on the back bodice. She wore a family heirloom tennis bracelet, and ivory heels with an asymmetrical bow design by Bella Belle.
Bridesmaid Dresses
The bridesmaids dresses were all from Revelry and they each chose their own dress style in the Soft Champagne color.
The Details
Food & Drink
Cocktail hour featured two speciality cocktails – a lemon vodka blackberry mint cocktail and old fashioned. Dinner featured a goat cheese beet salad, a maple and mustard glazed chicken breast with pecan and apricot gremolata, beef tenderoin with red wine balsamic reduction, and sides of brown butter miso whipped potatoes and sriracha green beans.
Florals & Decor
Barr Mansion's open air farmstead served as the perfect backdrop for both the ceremony and reception. The ceremony featured an angular arch of yellow, gold, white and orange blooms against the windowed frame siding of the farmstead with an aisle of compote floral arrangements of the same colors. While guests enjoyed cocktail hour, the space was transformed.
Wedding Cake
Dessert featured a three tiered white chocolate raspberry and chocolate fudge wedding cake with an assortment of florals added by Remi and Gold to tie in the citrus floral theme of the day.
Special Detail #1
During cocktail hour, guests were given the opportunity to visit live typewriter poets for a personalized poem based on a word or phrase.
Special Detail #2
Completing the retro theme of the day, the couple departed with streamers to a peach orange 1970s Volkswagen bus.
Special Detail #3
The wedding invitation's wax seal included a custom lemon stamp. This citrus theme was what inspired the colors behind the floral color palette. The bride's aunt also drew and designed the art on the cocktail hour napkins.
