An Elegant Lakeside Wedding Weekend With an Early Autumn Palette
The Planning
Design / Vibe / Vision
Kathryn and Matthew wanted their wedding weekend to feel like a sophisticated and elegant "grown-up summer camp" for their family and friends who traveled from all over the country to celebrate them. The wedding weekend included an emphasis on fashion and fun.
We used an early autumn palette as a nod to the turning of the season in Georgia. We incorporated pattern and textural elements to balance the rustic wood tones of the venue to soften the space.
Proposal Story
Matt pulled the ultimate surprise by planning the proposal on his own birthday while Kathryn unknowingly was planning his birthday festivities simultaneously. They went out to brunch with Matt’s friends while he had Kathryn’s friends decorate and set up the apartment full of flowers and photos of the two of them. Upon coming home, he dropped to a knee, and that evening they celebrated at a NYC speakeasy, J. Bespoke, with friends and family from both NY and Michigan.

The Details
Food & Drink
Cocktail hour included a dirty martini tower and a Soho House Picante signature cocktail, as an ode to one of the couple's favorite NYC spots. Mini lobster tacos, baked brie and peach tartlets, and mushroom arancini were among the passed hors d'ouvres.
Guests were served a 3 course meal including a Caprese salad and an entree selection of Red Snapper or Filet Mignon with Lobster Risotto and local vegetables from the Ritz Carton Lake Oconee culinary team.
Florals & Decor
We layered peachy pastels and rich wood tones to accent the gorgeous, natural lake setting. Textiles and florals were comprised of muted tones of in-season garden variety blooms and foliage.
Each guest table included a mix of pattern, texture and color creating a soft, elegant and cohesive look in the reception space. Watercolor stationery, cane details, and colorful taper candles gave the design a playful edge.
Wedding Cake
The wedding cake was a 4-tier champagne cake with Tahitian vanilla mousse and a vanilla buttercream with a vintage piping design and topped with fresh sliced strawberries. A porcelain retro-inspired cake topper adorned the cake.
