A Dream Pastel Explosion in Santa Barbara at Dos Pueblos Ranch
The Planning
Design / Vibe / Vision
Spring, spring, spring! We had a nickname for this wedding and it was "Spring Dream"! We wanted all the blues, yellows, pinks, and greens to create a joyous, colorful atmosphere. We really wanted it to feel homey, happy, and personal. I had a Pinterest board with so many ideas, but it turned out so much better than I could have imagined. It was 100% a Spring Dream come true.
Proposal Story
We met in college at the one and only dinner our Christian Club hosted during COVID. I saw this tall blonde on the other side of the room and managed to get his name.
Patch had just transferred from a different school and was at the dinner to try and meet new friends. After the dinner, I found him on instagram, sending him a message
that if he ever wanted a friend to hang out with, I'd be interested. Our first time hanging out one on one, Patch suggested watching the sunset on top of a mountain. I
agreed, thinking this was bold, but it turned out to become the most memorable night for both of us. We started dating soon after, and almost three years in, we went to Tahoe
for Patch's birthday. Patch used the excuse of his birthday to steal the car and go on a fun date around Lake Tahoe. He was practicing flying his drone for most of the day,
and when we got to the top of a hike later on, he pulled out his drone again. He asked me to model for him on top of a rock overlooking the whole lake. Patch soon joined me
on the rock, getting down on one knee, all for Patch to capture it with his drone. I was speechless, but I got a tearful, joyous YES out! It was a beautiful moment we'll remember forever.
Getting Ready

The Fashion
Wedding Gown
My dress was by Natalie by Serene and I absolutely fell in love with its beautiful floral detail and the open back. In the last few weeks before the wedding I added a personal touch and sewed individual pearls all over my dress.
Bridesmaid Dresses
The bridesmaids dresses by Hello Molly were in a pale yellow color, and the Groomsmen were in blue, a huge part of these colors are due to Patch's nickname for me, "Sunshine" and my nickname for him, "Blue".

The Details
Food & Drink
We wanted to incorporate Patch's love for sailing and the tropics into our drinks. I was a tap dancer, so I love my Shirley Temples. Because I love to paint, I couldn't help but paint the drink signs as well.
Florals & Decor
April is the beginning of all these amazing flowers, so we literally used ALL of them. Garden roses, peonies, lilac, delphinium, sweet peas, muscari and of course had to put some lily of the valley in my bouquet. Thanks to our Event Coordinator and Floral Designer Toast of Santa Barbara, we also incorporated local nurseries and brought in at least 100 potted roses, delphinium and wisteria that we incorporated in the ceremony and at the entrance to the dinner reception tent. I will say, the flowers were quite happy in the unexpected rain. Another fun flower detail was also allowing all our guest to fill up their own bags with tons of flower petals, so they could toss them at the recessional.
Wedding Cake
Following the spring theme
, we wanted to incorporate both pearls and flowers into our cake as well! The cake made from our wonderful vender and friend at Enjoy Cupcakes.
Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs
Our grandparents entered to "Great is thy Faithfulness" to emphasize the goodness of God through the generations. Patch and the party entered to How to Train Your Dragon, as it's one of his all time favorite movies. I'm an old soul, so I entered to one of my favorite songs, La Vie En Rose. We had some hummingbirds join us in the tent for the ceremony!
Special Detail #1
We wrote everyone a note on how much we love them and how they've impacted our lives. On the back, I did a single-line drawing representing something we loved about them or about our relationship.
Special Detail #2
We did not see rain in the forecast until 6 days before our wedding, which caused the team to have to pivot hard and fast. The entire morning, I was watching everyone set everything up in the pouring rain. Once we went outside under the tent,
the lighting was surreal. It was bright and beautiful. The sound of rain on the tent was the cherry on top. Once our ceremony stopped, the sun shone through, and it made everything green and gorgeous. The sun glimmered on the ocean. Snow appeared on the mountains, which is rare for Santa Barbara. During our reception, a rainbow appeared in the sky. It was truly the most remarkable day.
Special Detail #3
Our parent's dog Bear was our "Ring Bear-er"!!! Bear has been a huge part of Patch's life, and he was made for the job. During the ceremony he ran towards Patch when it was his time to shine, but he was so excited that he couldn't let go of the ring pillow. It was hilarious and precious all at the same time.
