A New England Summer Wedding Complete With Rattan Details

[section title=”The Planning”]

[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Sophie & Nate’s wedding day featured a mix of pale blues, white, and soft green florals. The reception space also displayed stunning rattan elements and floral patterned tablecloths. [/field]

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Overall the vision was a chic New England summer vibe, emulating where the happy couple first met – at camp. The reception area featured a few canoes filled with cocktail hour drinks and the table numbers were nautical “blowing in the wind” flags. Even the featured cocktails were summer-inspired [/field]

[field title=”Proposal Story”]The story of Sophie and Nathan begins in Fryeburg, Maine in 2007– two brace-faced tween campers meet for the first time. It is still unconfirmed, but rumors are that the Groom sent the Bride his first “Pony” (an intercamp handwritten love-letter) way back then…

The First Chapter: Summer Lovin’

Fast forward 5 years to July 4th, 2012—a kiss under a firework filled sky on top of Jockey Cap mountain solidifies the new “couple”. It is also decided that Sophie and Nathan were not just going to be a summer fling… One final Pony in August confirmed that the couple was going to carry on post-Summer, and “see where things go…”—which begins our next chapter.

The Distance Chapter: High School Sweethearts to College Couple

Junior and Senior years’ ACT prep and college counseling sessions were now taking place in between late night facetimes and flights to DC and Dallas. There were homecomings and winter formals with the Hockaday gals; concerts and sweet 16s with the DC boys. Though they now came through USPS instead of the Pony Express, the Ponys continued, and the love inside of them grew stronger by the day.

Then the “King and Queen” graduated High School, and the trips moved to Winston-Salem and Georgetown; ACT prep and college counseling was replaced with Tri Delt date functions and lacrosse games on Cooper Field (Go Hoyas). There were 2am taco nights on Ewing Street and post-game parties at 3208 Prospect. Now they were delivered by hand at the beginning or end of a trip, but the Ponys continued, and the love inside of them grew stronger every day.

The Manhattan Chapter: “Start Spreading the News… Your Favorite Couple is Here to Stay”

After graduation in 2018, and 6 years of being long distance, Sophie and Nathan finally share the same zip code: —Tribeca, NYC. Sorority parties and lacrosse games became double-dates and soul cycle classes together. There were week-day date nights at Bar Pitti and Sunday strolls to Trader Joes. 3 years later, Sophie and Nathan finally share the same address: Apt 31E. Date night became every night at the kitchen table, and the Trader Joe’s shopping list was now for two instead of one.

Then, exactly 3,461 days after that first kiss, the shortest pony was the start of the longest and never-ending chapter; popping the question: “Will you marry me?”

The Next Chapter: September 2, 2023—It’s Time to Say, “I Do”[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Sophie wore a gorgeous Sareh Nouri dress. The strapless gown featured white floral appliqués that suited the bride and matched not only the florals but the overall summer vibe of the wedding day![/field]

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Sophie’s bridesmaids wore a mix of bright colors and patterns – with no two dresses the same! Some dresses had floral patterns, while others were solid colored but featured fun fringe, ruffles, or feathers. Colors ranged from hot pink and turquoise blue to a soft yellow and green. [/field]

[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Nate’s groomsmen wore classic navy blue suits with a light blue pattern tie (similar to the colors found in the reception space). The groom himself was sporting a white tux with a black bowtie. The ring bearers stole the show in their matching blue suits, patterned pocket square and light blue loafers! [/field]

[section title=”The Details”]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]The food at cocktail hour was a spread of bites from Sophie & Nate’s years together, including mini griddled pastrami sandwiches and pretzel bites with spicy mustard as a homage to NYC. For Maine, there were lobster rolls and blueberry biscuits and corn chowder. The signature drinks were also New England themed, with a Wild Maine Blueberry vodka concoction and a classic summer Aperol Spritz. The bright colors of both drinks perfectly matched the bridesmaids’ ensembles! [/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Flowers everywhere!! Sophie had a truly incredible vision of light blue and white florals mixed in with plenty of greenery. Almost every table was cascading with them, in addition to the tent corners and edges. For the ceremony, the aisle was lined with the same floral arrangement and the jewish chuppah adorned a tasteful display across the front. [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The best way to describe the wedding cake is a blend between Sophie’s wedding dress and bouquet! Crafted by a local bakery, the all-white cake featured floral appliqués just like the bridal gown and then had small clusters of the pale blue flowers on all three tiers. [/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The grand exit featured a fun exit via John Deer tractor – complete with a just married sign and lights! [/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The couple finished out their newlywed portraits with a boat ride around the lake on the family’s stunning antique boat – appropriately named “Sunset Cruise” [/field]
