Refined Softness While Leaning Into Modern Design at Fox Chapel Golf Club

[section title=”The Planning”]

[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Creams, Whites, Ivories, Soft Greys, pops of Black[/field]

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The couple had an effortless grace to them, a refined softness in a modern world. They are sophisticated and fashionable while leaning into the modern design elements. The goal was to bring all of those together in our design. Using soft blooms and light colored linens paired with small accents of black and modern plates were a few ways that we brought their vision to life. [/field]

[field title=”Proposal Story”]I surprised Maddy with plans at our favorite local spot for drinks. We were the only ones there, and I had flowers set up at our table. I got down on one knee, she said yes!, and then we celebrated together over champagne and espresso martinis. We then headed to our dinner reservation where we were surprised by our family and friends all together for an engagement party! We left for London and Paris a few days later and continued our celebration! [/field]

[section title=”The Fashion”]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]I called New York City home for many years where I was surrounded by my love for fashion! I always knew I’d go back to find my dress. I chose to have a custom gown made from Nardos Design. The dress had a strapless silhouette with a drop waste and small floral hand embroidery. The focal point was the custom removable cascade in the back that made me feel so special wearing it! My mom surprised me with a blue heart in the gown made from my father’s dress shirt as my something blue. I wore Manolo Blahnik heels and a cathedral veil. [/field]

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]My bridesmaids wore long black gowns of their choosing. I always loved the look of different style dresses next to me and most importantly, wanted them to feel confident and love their gowns for this black-tie event! [/field]

[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Ethan wore a custom tuxedo from Larrimor’s in our hometown of Pittsburgh. He wanted something timeless and personalized for our wedding day, styling it with a chic black bow tie and Paul Smith cufflinks.[/field]

[section title=”The Details”]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]When it came to personalized details, the food and drinks were not forgotten, it was actually first on our list! Cocktail hour featured sushi boats filled our favorite rolls and a chef for live sushi rolling. At the reception we had a tequila tasing bar representing our hobby of learning about the craft and flavor notes. We had unique tequilas in mini monogramed tasting cups with a display of different salts to chose from. At the end of the evening, per the famous Pittsburgh tradition, we offered a cookie table with a modern twist. We had a custom-made cookie ATM where guests could order from a touch screen and cookies would dispense out with monogram to-go boxes![/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The Farmers Daughter created romantic florals in whites, creams and ivories with mixed textures and soft blooms reminiscent of an English countryside garden. All florals were sculptural and texture blocking in style. We kept our ceremony neutral with soft grays layered into our reception with patterned napkins and paper products custom made by our stationer. We love hint of modern simplicity, so there were finer details, like our custom monogram, that were bold and black font. [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Alex Robba Cakes brought our vision for a cake that resembled a piece of art to life. It was a soft grey tiered cake with gum paste anemone flowers with exposed stems for a sense of movement. My favorite part was that I showed Alex pictures of my wedding dress, and he incorporated the cascading back of my gown into the overall design. He arranged appliqués in clusters to create the clean modern look. The cake not only looked like a piece of art, but it tasted delicious. We chose two flavors – Funfetti and Cookies & Cream! [/field]

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The ceremony was the most meaningful part of the day for us. My mother walked me down the aisle and our ceremony began with honoring our loved ones who could to be with us by reading a poem that my late father wrote and acknowledging Ethan’s grandmother who passed shortly before the wedding. Ethan and I come from different religious backgrounds, so we had a mixed religious service with his brother officiating and my cousin performing the Hebrew portions of the ceremony. Saying our personal vows to each other with our closest family and friends is a moment we will hold in our hearts for a lifetime.[/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]My dad passed away a few years ago, so it was important for us to incorporate him throughout our special day. He always had a journal in hand to write down his every thought and he loved to draw, so I wanted to showcase his doodles throughout the evening. We created a bookmark using his doodles for each guest as escort cards and used one of his art journals as our guest book.[/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]We got married on a summer night with a storm rolling in off in the distance. We opted to have the ceremony outside as the storm tracker showed we had a 45 minute window. Winds unexpectedly picked up and as we were acknowledging the passing of my father and Ethan’s grandmother, it started raining 30 minutes early and picked up as the ceremony continued. We got SOAKED! We chose to embrace the rain, and it felt like our loved ones were shedding happy tears from above to let us know they were with us. [/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #3″]The couple’s pride and joy is their goldendoodle, Mercer! Their special day would not be complete without incorporating him into the details. We opted to make custom Mercer pizza boxes for late night wood fired pizza, so guests could enjoy a snack during dancing or the ride home![/field]
