Colorful Vintage Wedding Inspired by the Bride’s Floral Dress!
The Planning
Design / Vibe / Vision
The bride and her planner with Bird Dog Wedding based the design of Andrew and Jillian’s wedding off of her unique Monique Lhuillier floral dress and their historic venue. The feminine and vintage touches from the dress and venue carried into all of the details of the wedding from the stationery custom crest to the tablescape floral napkins.
From the bride- "For the wedding I kept the inspiration of vintage, colorful, and romantic for the design and Emily at Bird Dog was the perfect person to help bring it to life! I chose Mattie's because of its romantic historic charm. And I fell in love with the venue's roaming peacocks! I found vintage peacocks at an antique store for the head table, and used them in my invites and wedding signage. I wore my grandma's vintage clip on earrings that my mom wore on her wedding day. And I picked a floral Monique Lhuillier wedding dress to go with my love of all things colorful and romantic."
Proposal Story
From the groom- "I proposed to Jillian in front of the Forsyth Park fountain in Savannah, Ga., in January 2022. Jillian, not knowing of the impending proposal, scheduled a bike tour for that morning. So I was riding around Savannah, patting my pocket every 30 seconds to make sure the engagement ring (which belonged to my great grandmother) hadn't fallen out. That evening, we celebrated at the historic Olde Pink House restaurant."
From the bride- "The proposal was amazing. The ring is so special from his great grandma bought it for herself in Thailand with a Thai ruby! I really wanted a ruby ring so it was serendipitous that his family had such a gorgeous one."

The Details
Food & Drink
Guests were greeted to the outdoor ceremony with pastel macaroons, fans, and sweet tea. The dinner menu tied in with their southern venue with Texas favorites like buttermilk fried chicken and a farmhouse salad.
Florals & Decor
Abundant florals and an extravagant ceremony floral arch by Mountain Laurel Floral was only fitting for a wedding based off of the bride's floral wedding dress. The reception tent was lined with colorful flowers with greenery hanging from the ceiling. Feminine touches inspired by the dress were seen in the delicate bows placed on the beautiful seating chart made by LBV Design House. The bride's love for anything retro was apparent with the vintage glassware and dial telephone guestbook.
Wedding Cake
The wedding cake was sweet and simple placed on an antique cart with rose petals and florals surrounding it. The cake cutting and champagne tower was shot on 35mm film to complete the vintage look.
Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs
From the bride- "My Aunt Jan was our officiant and wrote us the most beautiful ceremony. And my brother and sister in law were our wedding musicians! He is a classical guitarist and she's a violinist. It was so special to have them play me down the aisle with my dad! We had flower girls that are my cousins kids and our ring bearer was our nephew Forest."
Special Detail #1
Their wedding venue Mattie's was formerly a South Austin farm house turned restaurant in 1946. It is known for having peacocks roaming the grounds on this southern property. Vintage touches and peacocks were incorporated in the custom crest, invitations, table numbers, and tablescape decor to tie in with the historic venue. A peacock even graced it's presence during the bridal party photos!
Special Detail #2
From the bride- "Family was such a huge part of our whole story. Family members at us up to start. My Aunt Jill & Uncle Dan worked with Andrew's mom Terry to set us up! They all were in a pilates class together in Denver and collaborated to bring us together. Then we were given Andrew's family ring for our engagement and Andrew proposed in a significant spot to his family. Then my Aunt Jan married us. My brother and sister in law were our wedding musicians. And all our family traveled to Austin for our wedding from all over the country."
Special Detail #3
Also our band was amazing! Andrew and I love wedding dancing and we literally danced the whole night away. The band was so great and so energetic and we had such a blast.
