This Romantic Seattle Inspiration Shoot Brought A Beautiful Garden Indoors

We wanted to create something that featured the beauty of the Sunset Club, which is a year-round indoor-only venue while highlighting its beautiful areas to photograph in. Its main feature, the Georgian ballroom, with beautiful botanical wallpaper, makes you feel like you are in a garden indoors. The wedding colors were inspired by the beautiful ballroom and the garden effect we wanted to invoke while protected from Seattle’s rain. We worked closely with the florist, A La Chloe, to plan a lush floral design that was used throughout the space and intentionally selected the bridesmaid dressed to give a bit of garden whimsy while featuring several options from Dessy. We also included a subtle nod to the architecture of the ballroom’s white crown molding in the cake design, as well as the linen choice. The venue was really the center of the design inspiration; it was definitely one of Seattle’s hidden gems!

The Sunset Club is a private and exclusive venue in the heart of Seattle. The large, Georgian-style Clubhouse offers entertaining that is both elegant, gracious, and uniquely timeless. This fully indoor venue boasts a unique experience for guests who are guided from one spectacular room to the next on the wedding day. The stunning ballroom is adorned with original Georgian style-painted panels and features beautiful chandeliers, a full theatrical stage, and a balcony. The venue is richly decorated with elegant eighteenth-century furnishings and artwork that have been thoughtfully acquired over the past century.

The bride wore Spring by Monique Lhuillier. Monique Lhuillier’s collection embodies an Italian garden. The intricate lace embellishments and floral details of Spring were the perfect complement to the garden glam aesthetic that Events by Genevieve created at the Sunset Club. In crafting the bridal look, Ivonne of IM Artistry approached hair and makeup with particular intention. Her goal was to evoke a sense of enduring elegance, one that transcends generations and never fades from style. She meticulously curated every detail to achieve this timeless aesthetic. For the bride, Ivonne opted for a classic yet refined updo, artfully tailored to accentuate her natural bone structure, ensuring she exuded grace and sophistication. Complementing her ethereal glow, they chose rich terracotta hues for her makeup palette, delicately enhanced with a touch of pink blush to create the radiant aura of a bride. The bridesmaids’ ensembles echoed this romantic sentiment, with soft and flirty looks accentuated by cascading waves in their hair. The result was a bridal party that exuded polished elegance, radiating a timeless allure that captivated all in attendance.

The bridesmaid’s dresses were all from Dessy. We love that Dessy has so much variety, allowing the bridal party to select something that feels true to their personality and complimentary to their body type while still aligning with the couple’s overall vision for the wedding day. Each bridesmaid selected a dress in the garden glam color palette of soft blushes, pinks, and greens with options for a solid gown or floral detail. We loved the mismatched yet cohesive look!

The A La Chloe team curated a floral arrangement that embraces soft, understated tones, echoing the elegance of the Sunset Club‘s gorgeous painting. Delicate hues of ivory, pale yellow, blush, and dusty pink intertwine seamlessly, creating a captivating visual harmony. To infuse an extra layer of romance, the designers incorporated an exquisite selection of garden roses, lisianthus, sweet peas, and seasonal blooms. The addition of plum branches adds a subtle yet striking touch, balancing strength with delicacy. The reception boasts an array of arrangements in varying heights, offering depth and drama to the ambiance. Each arrangement is crafted to enhance the overall aesthetic, complementing the venue’s sophistication. While the ceremony setup exudes simplicity, its elegance is undeniable, perfectly harmonizing with the modern floor tiles of the venue. Every detail is thoughtfully curated to ensure a seamless blend of beauty and sophistication. Personal flowers and additional arrangements are designed with a singular focus: to elevate the romance of the occasion. Each bloom is chosen with care, embodying the essence of love and celebration. The cake design was heavily based on the rich historical beauty of the venue. With a muted pink fondant and molding to mimic the iconic walls of the ballroom, the colors, and architectural aspects tied in beautifully with the surroundings. Six towering layers were accentuated with flourishes of rice paper and abstract flowers, in addition to a stenciled airbrush detail to add a softness to the bottom two layers. The invitation suite, designed by Honest Calligraphy, was a juxtaposition of refined simplicity and luxurious detail. The color palette remained soft and romantic, reflective of the overall design, featuring clean whites and the softest blush. The custom crest and menus were designed to reflect similar architectural elements present in the Sunset Club ballroom and wedding cake, and soft floral accents were a continuation of the garden aesthetic featured throughout the wedding day design.

We simply cannot get enough of this stunner of a cake, artfully designed by Alewa Bakeshop. Lisa is a true artist and has a special talent for taking inspiration from the couple, venue, and overall wedding day design. Her work often features hand-painted elements and sugar flowers nearly indistinguishable from fresh flowers. For this masterpiece, Lisa incorporated more structured elements, like the hexagonal layer situated amidst traditional rounded layers and fondant molding to reflect the architectural elements of the grand ballroom. She softened those elements with airbrushed floral accents on the bottom layer of the cake and wispy, soft-white wafer paper flowers.

[field title=”Tips To Pull Off The Look”]

If you want a garden glam style for your wedding day, be prepared to place a high priority on florals in your budget and think outside of the box about where you’ll want to feature florals. Bouquets and tabletops are a given, but sometimes people overlook the opportunity to make a statement and create a cohesive guest experience by incorporating florals at the cake & escort display, entrance to the ceremony/reception, or as a unique statement at the cocktail hour or on the dance floor. If your venue has a unique element like an architecturally interesting doorway or a grand staircase, highlight that feature with a floral installation. And, if possible, pay to have your floral team on site for the duration of your wedding day. What really brought this garden-theme full circle was incorporating florals into unique moments of the day; the bride was surrounded by floor arrangements during her getting ready/bridal portraits, floral accents on the grand staircase, and the vignette of the wedding gown on the mannequin with florals. Having your floral team at your venue means they can assist with all the moving parts to create these magical moments. Lastly, higher a planner who knows their stuff. Gen from Events by Genevieve left no stone unturned when it came to the design for this day. From the cake to the paper products to the candelabras and linens, she ensured that every design element was in alignment with the overall garden-glam aesthetic.
