Monique and Justin were married at the iconic Fairmont Banff Springs, Canada’s Castle in the Rockies, and what a royal affair it was. Drawing influence from the Victorian era, wedding planner and designer, Raven Alexandra Signature Weddings, wove refined vintage moments throughout the design to achieve perfect balance of effortless romance and classic elegance. At the center of the design were the words to Édith Piaf’s renowned “La Vie En Rose” honouring the bride’s French heritage.

On our 3rd first date-iversary (July 4th) I surprised Monique with a crab and champaign picnic in the park by the river. Afterwords, we walked over to the bench where we had our first kiss and I surprised her with the ring!

Guests were treated to their choice of smoked signature cocktails prepared by Spirits With Smoke. A Black Manhattan for the groom and a Clover Club cocktail for the bride were among the evening’s favorites. A four-course dinner prepared by the Fairmont Banff Springs featured seared scallops, roasted beet salad, and a choice of Alberta beef tenderloin, pan-roasted chicken breast, or Icelandic cod, ending with a slice of the couple’s wedding cake. After cutting the cake immediately following Monique and Justin’s grand entrance, dinner was served amidst a series of toasts, many of which contained beautiful bilingual moments. Following dinner and a series of formal dances between the couple and their parents, a champagne tower commenced the dance, which was led by a Local DJ until moving to Fairmont’s Bowl Valley for after-party celebrations, late-night nibbles, and several lanes of bowling.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Floral design, perfected by Creative Edge Flowers incorporated pops of burgundy and toffee to achieve an organic yet antique look. Leaning into the stunning architecture of Mount Stephen Hall, altar arrangements mirrored the symmetry of the space while the tall floral-wrapped candelabras at the center of reception tables guided the eye upwards. Striking accents of hunter green amidst classic gold pieces were sourced from both Modern Rentals and Special Event Rentals, along with a traditional French colonial-style lounge set complete with an audio guest book from Confetti Call where guests, young and old, left personalized voice messages for the couple, throughout the evening. With the bride’s great-grandmother in attendance, these voice notes will be treasured for years to come. Guests searched for their names on an upright antique gold mirror and then for their table numbers on scalloped table numbers and belly band place cards matching the floral print vellum from the invitation suite. These delicate paper goods, and others crafted by PaperOcelot Studios incorporated Monique and Justin’s monogram, also seen on decals created by YNOT Digital throughout the space.

A three tiered wedding cake was brought to life by Yvonne’s Delightful Cakes. Featuring a delicately stencilled blush buttercream finish with lifelike white and gold sugar flowers carefully placed upon each tier, this masterpiece was nestled in a garden of soft and complimentary blooms.

Dreamy harp music by Harp Angel greeted guests as they arrived at the ceremony. Along with a selection of the couple’s favorite songs, “La Vie En Rose” accompanied the ladies as they processed down the aisle.

A day heavily rooted in family and tradition, the father of the bride greeted the newlyweds in his late father’s 1963 Mercury Monterey to whisk them into the heart of the snow-capped mountains for their private portrait session with Corrina Walker Photography.

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Monique was not the only one dressed to impress. Justin wore a custom emerald paisley tuxedo from Atelier Suiting, staying true to his personal style and providing a pop of colour to the gentlemen, who were otherwise suited in black.[/field]
