Cozy Cottage Meets Coastal Spring Vibes At This California Wedding
The couple worked with Olivia with Elle Events to bring their wedding day to life. Their vision was to create an elegant cozy cottage and coastal spring vibe with variations of blue colors and patterns for their theme. The couple's idea was for the flowers to take the stage and show off, so they went for a soft organic design, using wispy greenery and sprouting flowers with pink, orange, blue, and white hues to balance the blue theme and to compliment the wooden elements and neutral tones of the votives and bud vases. To bring all these together they also added some citrus fruits on the tables for reception which was a great pop of color. They rounded out this vision by having a tented reception to create a close atmosphere with chandeliers and sheer drapery to play up the elegance.
Blake proposed to Lindsay on October 30, 2021 in Death Valley at the Badwater Basin (Til Death (valley) do us part). She wasn't expecting him to propose that year since they talked about getting engaged the following year. Lindsay actually had a dream a couple days before the trip that he proposed where she was holding her hand up to the sky looking at an oval diamond with a gold band (which later turned out to be teardrop with gold band in real life!). When she told him about the dream and asked if he was proposing, he had to deny it, but thought her sister gave it away. Moreover, Blake wanted to propose that weekend because they have made it a tradition to go out of town every Halloween weekend since he asked her to be his girlfriend on Halloween in San Clemente in 2019. Lindsay’s sister and her boyfriend were there for the proposal and they all stayed at a resort called the Oasis in Death Valley (which was quite an interesting experience!).
Lindsay bought her dress from Dress Theory in San Diego. Her dress designer was Sarah Seven, the "Rosanna" dress. She customized it by adding buttons down the back and a slit in the front. Other notable accessories were a Mikimoto pearl necklace, and her ring set which is from Marrow from the San Diego location.
The Groom attire was from The Black Tux, black and white loafers were from Gucci, and his watch was a Breitling Premier automatic 40. He also wore Presidential cufflinks from the white house which was a gift from the best man.
The couple really wanted the flowers to be the main decor for the day so that it could play off of the venue's beautiful garden. With that in mind, they chose to go with a soft organic design while working with Leah from Mai Floral Design. They had a blue theme in mind and to balance the blue and compliment the wooden elements of the day they used sprouting flowers with pink, orange, blue and white hues while using greenery to tie it all in with the venue's beauty.
Their wedding cake was made by VG Donut & Bakery and it was a marble cake with Bavarian cream filling and fresh bananas.
