Heritage and Haute Couture: A Destination Wedding in Croatia You Can’t Miss!

The Planning
Design / Vibe / Vision
Our design and vibe were brought to life with the invaluable assistance of Tamara and her team at Adriatic Weddings Croatia. We aimed for a timeless elegance, crafting an atmosphere that felt both classic and intimate. Envisioning our gathering around long tables adorned with an abundance of flowers and gentle lighting, we achieved a setting that reflected our personal style—simple, neutral, and enduring. This careful planning ensured our wedding's beauty would stand the test of time, a vision Tamara helped us realize to perfection.
Proposal Story
The proposal was a moment of pure magic, set against the backdrop of the picturesque Park Zrinjevac in Zagreb, the heart of Marcus's hometown. After a delightful dinner, the evening unfolded with what was supposed to be a casual stroll, cleverly planned to capture our annual Christmas postcard photo. Amidst the historic charm of the park, Marcus's proposal took Ema by complete surprise, transforming an ordinary moment into an unforgettable engagement celebrated by the spontaneous applause and cheers of witnesses.
The Fashion
Wedding Gown
At the heart of this captivating wedding was a gown designed by the bride herself, a testament to her personal aesthetic and realized with the skilled craftsmanship of Polina Ivanova. The ceremony dress was unique and elegant, complemented in the evening by a 'Robin' dress from Eva Lendel, allowing for a graceful transition from ceremony to celebration. The bride's choice of Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin footwear added a sophisticated finishing touch to her outfit.
Bridesmaid Dresses
The bridesmaids were attired in white, sleeveless dresses that featured a tasteful slit at the back, embodying the wedding's theme of timeless elegance. This choice ensured a unified and refined appearance for the bridal party, perfectly complementing the wedding's overall aesthetic.
Groomsman Attire
For the groomsmen, classic black tuxedos were chosen, emphasizing the wedding's formal atmosphere. This traditional choice matched the event's elegant vibe and brought together a cohesive look that complemented the grand setting of the wedding, creating a memorable scene.
The Details
Food & Drink
The wedding menu highlighted simple, local flavors, starting with a cocktail hour featuring bite-sized delicacies like canapés, cheeses, and charcuterie. The main meal began with a creamy truffle pasta, followed by a rich ox cheek in red wine sauce with gnocchi and grilled vegetables. The standout was the wedding cake, a delightful pistachio and raspberry combination, chosen for its exquisite taste and presentation.
Florals & Decor
The floral arrangements and decor at the wedding were meticulously chosen to create a luxurious and natural atmosphere. Emphasis was placed on abundant, slightly untamed arrangements of large roses, hydrangeas, and soft pastel-colored smaller flowers, filling the space with lush, romantic vibes. The bridal and bridesmaids' bouquets were composed exclusively of white flowers, adding a playful touch with white berries. For a personal touch, the couple incorporated their family monogram on linen napkins, blending elegance with sentimentality. These napkins, intended for use at future family gatherings, were also cherished takeaways for some guests. Overall, the decor maintained a classic, soft, and natural feel, without bold colors or materials, perfectly executed with the help of the wedding planner, Tamara from Adriatic Weddings, and the florist, Anita, who together brought the couple's vision to life.
Wedding Cake

The wedding cake, a creation by the renowned Tea Mamut, was a highlight of the celebration, reflecting the couple's long-standing admiration for Mamut's pastries, known for their traditional roots with a modern twist. After a tasting in Split, the couple decided on a delightful combination of raspberry and an unexpected pistachio flavor, encapsulating both tradition and surprise. The cake's design was elegantly understated, all white with a garnish of fresh raspberries on top, making it a visually stunning centerpiece as well as a culinary delight.

Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs
The couple's entrance in the Trogir cathedral was marked by the iconic wedding march, resonating through the grand space with the organ's magnificent sound, while the ceremony was further beautified by stunning vocal renditions of "Ave Maria." For their first dance, the couple selected "Stand by Me" by Ben E. King, a classic tune that offered both nostalgia and an easy rhythm for dancing. The reception celebrated a diverse musical blend, featuring local Croatian melodies, the soulful sounds of a saxophone, the modern beats of a DJ, and the traditional serenades of troubadours, ensuring the entertainment reflected the varied origins of their guests from Sweden and Croatia, catering to everyone's musical tastes.
Special Detail #1
A particularly special detail of the wedding was the bride's gown, which was her own design. This personal touch added an extraordinary layer of intimacy and uniqueness to the celebration, as the dress was a direct reflection of her style and vision. Her collaboration with the talented Polina Ivanova brought this custom creation to life, blending the bride's creativity with Ivanova's craftsmanship to craft a truly one-of-a-kind bridal ensemble.
Special Detail #2
Another special touch to their wedding was a dream Ema shared with Marcus when she was 17. She had always wanted to get married in the Cathedral of Sv. Lovre. Making this dream come true for their wedding day added a meaningful and personal layer to their celebration, showing how their relationship had grown and fulfilled long-cherished hopes.
