Inspired by the majestic beauty of Banff National Park, with its sweeping grey mountains, crystalline blue glacier lakes, and dense forests, this wedding exuded a modern yet timeless charm. The ceremony, framed by classic mountain vistas, featured rustic wood accents, evoking the rugged elegance of the wilderness. Transitioning to the reception, guests were welcomed into a fresh and contemporary atmosphere, while retaining the natural allure of the surroundings. Small rustic details, such as wood textures and verdant greenery, harmoniously blended with the modern aesthetic, creating an enchanting celebration amidst nature’s splendor.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]We got engaged on Christmas Eve of 2021. Lauren had been working all day, so when she came home we decided to have a chill movie night in christmas PJs with our roommate. Before we did, I told Lauren she had to look in the tree for a surprise as I played “Invisible String” by Taylor Swift — a favorite song of ours and one that feels extremely personal to us being we grew up just minutes from each other but barely knew of each other. After several “OH MY GOD”s, I think she squeaked out a yes! [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Finding two wedding dresses that are unique to each bride and compliment each other was scary, but turned out to be much easier than we thought! I (Theresa) was convinced I wanted a suit, but went shopping for dresses for fun and to confirm that I did. Jokes on me, because right when I tried on the dress I ultimately chose, it was game over. My dress was simple and elegant, which gave Lauren (who went shopping second), free rein to get any dress she wanted. [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]
We had an amazing lineup of food and drink courtesy of The Bison. We each chose a signature cocktail (a classic French 75 and a delicious Moscow Mule). It was also important to us to have as many non-alcoholic drink options as possible, which the Bison provided via mocktails and non-alcoholic champagne! They made it amazingly easy to make sure all of our guests felt well accounted for,

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]
Theresa and Lauren wanted the ceremony to have a bit more of a rustic feel with the furniture almost blending into the background of the forest and mountain views. We opted for wood benches for the guests and a grand wood arch to center the brides complete with beautiful floral swags of white hydrangea, white roses, and a pop of bunny tails with trails of smilax vines. As guests moved into the reception space at The Bison they wanted the aesthetic to feel just a bit more modern. Guests arrived to the venue and were passed prosecco or non alcoholic bubbles before making their way to the patio. Accents of gold were found in the signage, the flatware and the mercury votives. The tables were full of white blooms like panda anemones, dahlias and roses. Pops of green were found in the goblet and pops of a teal blue in the napkins, the signage and the stationery. The brides each had their own bouquet design, Theresa’s with panda anemones and a bit more greenery for a rustic touch and Lauren’s with heavier white blooms and a more traditional rounded shape. Their maid of honour’s carried smaller bouquets that matched each bride.

The wedding cake was made by Bake My Day and was a small single tier cutting cake with the backdrop of their wedding ceremony (Tunnel Mountain) designed into the buttercream.

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]There were so many special parts of our ceremony. Our sister in law, one of our favorite people in the world, was our officiant and did an amazing job telling our love story. A truly unforgettable moment was when Lauren’s dad sang “This I Promise You” for us. He is a reserved man who does not always express himself in words, but through this song we could feel how much love he (and the rest of our parents) had for us. To this day we both tear up when thinking about that moment and all the love we felt.
