New England Wedding With Coastal Hues And Fantastic Florals
Gabrielle and Will are adventurers at heart, and much of their wedding was geared towards providing a wonderful and immersive experience for their guests. They wanted the quintessential coastal New England feel with special touches that hinted to their love for travel and places they had adventured together. The day's design focused on elevated, lush florals and chic coastal hues.
From the couple... We got engaged August 20, 2022 in Wengen, Switzerland which is a small mountain village. The setting was extremely picturesque and the Swiss Alps backdrop is like a fairytale movie. The mountains are green and snowcapped, waterfalls are flowing everywhere, and it truly is a unique escape from the day to day in the city. Will had every detail planned for the moment. He had the hike planned, the spot where he was going to do it along the hike, a photographer waiting to capture the moment, and I was completely clueless of this grand plan. I was so completely surprised that I didn't even think to paint my nails or dress for the occasion because I thought we were just going on a trip to Switzerland to hike and explore the Alps! I am so happy we were able to capture the real moment of Will getting down on one knee and me, excited and shocked with my beat up nails and hiking clothes.
Gabrielle wore a minimalist chic gown by Dana Harel. From the bride... Another memorable item on the day was a necklace I wore, which my mom gave to me on the wedding day. My mom had repurposed a diamond from a ring my dad had given her, into a beautiful necklace. This necklace is something I have worn almost every day since our wedding and is a special gift from both of my parents.
In contrast to Gabrielle's more fitted gown, bridesmaids wore flowing, floor length light blue gowns. While all the same color, each dress had a different cut or neckline.
Will's airplane cufflinks gave a nod to the day's celebration of adventure and the couple's love of travel. From the couple... Will has a very special watch that he wore for the day of the wedding, his late brother Nicholas's watch. While we ultimately felt his presence throughout the entirety of the weekend, it was nice to be able to look down at the watch and think about him.
Travel-themed signature cocktails - the Jet Setter and the Jet Lag - greeted guests at cocktail hour. Gabrielle and Will love gelato and wanted to offer a more unique dessert option to their guests. We rented a gelato cart from Chic Party Carts and printed their initials on the front of the cart with an adorable umbrella.
To create the perfect setting for Gabrielle and Will's ceremony, Stone Blossom used a variety of soft greenery, vines, and flowers. They aimed for a lush yet unstructured aesthetic to complement the natural beauty of their outdoor venue. For the ceremony, they kept the palette muted and soft with creamy whites and natural greens. We incorporated several local favorites such as dahlias, lisianthus, phlox, lace hydrangea, orlaya, and campanula. All of these blooms were expertly arranged to create a dreamy setting, lining the back row of chairs to define the ceremony space amongst the vast Castle Hill Inn lawn. A manicured pathway of delicate rose petals lead the way to an exquisite, asymmetrically designed floral arbor which served as a stunning backdrop for the ceremony. The combination of natural beauty and floral elegance was magical. The bride wanted the head table to feel as though you were dining amongst the flowers in an upside down garden. Together, Leila James Events and Stone Blossom designed a stunning, draping delphinium installation was added over the head table, which created an extra pop of blue to the already breathtaking surroundings. The reception was a vision of elegance and style. The color palette was a perfect blend of coastal blues, earthy greens, and pristine whites. The result was a laid-back and whimsical atmosphere where guests could relax, have fun, and celebrate!
The chic square cake provided a more minimalist balance to the lush florals surrounding it, while painterly touches of blue and delicate florals softened its overall look.
An "Adventure Awaits" escort card wall included globes hand-lettered by Wouldn't It Be Lovely with meaningful destinations and "flying" paper airplanes for each guest. The locations chosen were significant moments in Gabrielle and Will's relationship - their engagement in Switzerland, or truly once and in a lifetime experiences like hiking in Patagonia, Argentina or going on safari in Botswana.
