A Dusty Blue Summer Wedding at Peconic Bay Yacht Club

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]My husband, James, and I really wanted to bring our guests to a destination we love, without traveling too far from home. We always loved going out to the North Fork of Long Island, and thought the serene, small town feel of the area would be a perfect backdrop to host our guests for the weekend. I first saw our venue, the Peconic Bay Yacht Club, featured on Instagram and immediately knew it was the one – I absolutely loved the classic feel of the venue, the amazing views of the water, and the picture-perfect outdoor ceremony location. Once we chose that venue, we set to work choosing quintessential North Fork venues for our welcome party and brunch, and landed on Pellegrini Vineyards and the historic Jedediah Hawkins Inn. The whole weekend was planned and executed to perfection by Kristin at Eventful Days and her spectacular team, and brought to life by our many local vendors.[/field]

[field title=”Proposal Story”]My husband proposed to me in July 2020, while we were living at home with my parents due to the pandemic. Things had just begun to open up, when my friend and bridesmaid, Gabriella, asked us to meet her and her husband, Greg, at The William Vale hotel in Brooklyn for drinks on a Friday evening. When we arrived, my husband led me up to a suite filled with roses, candles, and balloons (which our sisters, Talya and Meghan, had set up for us) overlooking the city skyline and popped the question. Afterwards, we celebrated with a dinner at the hotel with our parents and sisters, my grandparents, and Gabriella and Greg. The next day, my parents hosted a dinner party for our close friends and family to celebrate, followed by a brunch and pool party on Sunday.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]I wore three different dresses on my wedding day. My first dress was the Monique Lhuillier Rose gown (Spring 2022). It was an absolutely beautiful satin-silk ballgown with a strapless ruched bodice, an oversized A-line skirt, and hand-rolled silk rosettes throughout. I customized mine with a slightly longer train and extra rosettes, and styled it with a cathedral length satin-tipped veil from Monique Lhuillier, a crystal headpiece from Christie Lauren, and satin platform shoes from Aquazzura. I first saw the gown in pink on an Instagram preview and immediately knew it was the one. I went to the Monique Lhuillier flagship store on Madison Avenue with my mom and grandma as soon as it was available to view at a trunk show, and we bought the gown the same day without ever seeing it in white. When my gown finally came in over a year later, I could not have been more thrilled with my choice. Wearing this gown was an absolute dream come true!

After the first dance, I changed into a crepe Oscar de la Renta column gown with a deep V (Spring 2019 Look 10), which I styled with blue Manolo Blahnik pumps and matching blue earrings from Nicola Bathie Jewelry. This was actually the last gown I bought, and was not planned. My mom and I were shopping on Madison avenue a few months before the wedding and saw this gown at the Oscar de la Renta store. As soon as we saw it, we knew it would be the perfect transition between my first gown and my party dress and couldn’t leave without buying the last one they had in stock.

For the cake cutting and after party, I changed into a short and sparkly slip dress from Michael Kors Collection, which I styled with crystal shoes from Aquazzura and crystal hair pins from Jennifer Behr. The dress was entirely covered in hand-beaded crystals and had coordinating crystal straps. It was the perfect end to my wedding day ensemble.

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]My sister, Talya, was my maid of honor, and I knew from the start that I wanted her to stand out and wear something really special. After months of searching, we found the perfect gown at Mark Ingram Bridal. It was an Ines di Santo wedding gown with an open back and a long train, which we were able to custom order in the most beautiful and vibrant blue. The team at Mark Ingram tailored it to fit her perfectly, and crafted a beautiful French bustle so that she could shorten it for dancing. Talya’s dress really tied the whole scheme together, and photographed beautifully.

My three other bridesmaids – my two best friends, Danna and Gabriella, and my sister-in-law, Meghan – custom ordered their gowns from Michelle Mason. Each selected a gown in a style they liked best, and Michelle Mason custom made them all for us in the most rich, shiny, silver silk.

[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]My dad and my husband, James, both bought their navy blue tuxedos with black lapel’s at Victor Talbots. James picked a slightly brighter blue, while my dad picked a darker navy. Our three groomsmen, Adam, Bryan, and Ryan, ordered black tuxedos from Generation Tux. We loved how the combination turned out! [/field]

[section title=”The Details”]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]The Peconic Bay Yacht Club and Robbins Wolfe Caterers did an amazing job with the food and drinks. At the cocktail hour, we served yellowfin tuna ceviche cones, truffled grilled cheese, a mini smash burger served with a tiny cup of beer, and fish tacos served with mini margaritas in patron bottles, among other passed appetizers. We also had a pasta station and a sushi station. For dinner, we served a burrata salad, followed by a choice of sea bass, filet mignon, or an arugula and Meyer lemon ravioli. For dessert, we serve a “dessert parade” of eight different desserts that were passed out on the dance floor, along with our wedding cake. Our signature drinks were Pat’s Gin and Tonic, to honor my late father-in-law, and Anika’s Aperol Spritz, named after my dog family’s dog.[/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]We worked with Pedestals Floral Decorators to fill every part of our wedding with the most spectacular floral arrangements. Joe at Pedestals worked for months to execute my vision and to find flowers in the perfect shade of blue, to match the rest of our décor. All of the floral arrangements were made up of roses (to match my gown), anemone flowers (for their deep blue center), blue hydrangeas, and white orchids, among other flowers. For the ceremony, we created an oversized chuppah with an asymmetrical top, and lined with aisle with blue floral hedges. We also designed three different centerpieces for the ballroom, including a lush, oversized runner for the king’s table, a tall and round centerpiece with cascading orchids, and an arrangement made up of differently sized glass vases filled with bouquets of the flowers used in the other arrangements. The cocktail hour, bar areas, and patios featured smaller arrangements of the same flowers for each table, plus greenery and florals decorating the venue’s chandeliers and staircases. We are still not over the flowers![/field]

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]James and I like to joke that the only part of the wedding he got to choose was the inside of the cake. We served the most delicious four-tiered coconut cake layered with raspberry jam and chocolate ganache, baked for us by Leanne’s Specialty Cakes. The outside was frosted in the same blue and white as the rest of our décor, and was decorated with fresh flowers to match. The whole cake sat on top of a sea of flowers to match the centerpieces.

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]All of the wedding décor was pulled together by a custom monogram and a custom-painted flower motif, which was created especially for us by Lucy at Harley Blue Design. Her amazing artwork was featured on everything in sight, including the invitations, welcome bags, menus, programs, escort board, signage, and custom cups and pillows.

Our first dance was set to Everything by Michael Buble, and choreographed by Jessica at Xtreme Rhythm. Jessica made the dance feel effortless and helped us feel really confident when we performed it on our wedding day – even the lift went off without a hitch!

Our band, the Dreamtime Band from EBE Talent did a spectacular job bringing life and energy to the reception. Our guests could not stop talking about how talented they were. My family is from Israel, so we also played Israeli music during the reception, which got everyone dancing.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]We were married under my late grandfather, Eli’s talis, which my husband inherited from him after he passed in 2020. It was so special to have this memory of him with us during the ceremony. [/field]
