Modern Black And White Summer Wedding With Lush Pops Of Green
The design of the wedding really allowed for the surrounding space to shine. Tasha & Chandler both grew up visiting Elk Ridge Resort & its surrounding area, so they wanted to be sure that the guests were able to get the full experience. The ceremony was located on the golf course, where the couple and their guests were surrounded by lush grass and tall trees for a completely private location. They chose natural greens and whites to accent the already beautiful and luscious space. While the venue itself is very rustic and mountain-like, Tasha and Chandler's personal style has a modern flair to it. We incorporated hints of black into the cocktail hour & reception design while also mixing in some natural wood tones to stay true to the surroundings. The reception tent was lined with dozens of candles, creating a beautiful grand entrance for the couple & their guests. A lush arch of baby breath & roses marked the entrance with a neon sign reading "Forever & Always," as that is a phrase that Tasha & Chandler say to each other often throughout their decade-long relationship. The clear-top tent was centered by a black & white dance floor to give it a touch of modern flair, and each table wore a classic, crisp white linen surrounded by black chairs. As the sun started to go down, the twinkling lights above stole the show as guests danced the night away under the stars.
All food was delectably chosen as a delicacy to the surrounding area and to compliment the summer season. A fresh seasonal greens salad was served as the first course with candied pecans, goat cheese, and pumpkin seeds. The guests chose between a roasted chicken, beef tenderloin, or walleye fish for their entree. The walleye is a freshwater fish native to most of Canada. The Stephenson's Signature Cocktails included a Moscow Mule & Stevie's Margarita with just a hint of spice.
Tasha and Chandler wanted to do a small cake for the tradition of the cake cutting, but in lieu of serving guests cake, they wanted to incorporate many well-known Canadian desserts, like towers of Timbits from Tim Hortons, chocolate glazed donuts from Nutana Bakery, and a candy station, as they both share a love of sours and sweets.
