Colorful Jewel Tones Meets Classic Design at the Iconic Beaulieu Garden
The Planning
Design / Vibe / Vision
Jess & Matt wanted to tell the story of their relationship on their wedding day. From the bright and cheery color palette, down to the custom illustrations of all the things they love, Jess & Matt were very intentional about all the details. It was important to them that their guests felt the love they shared, and they wanted family and friends to feel celebrated as well.
Proposal Story
In Covid, they spent a lot of time exploring Bay Area beaches together. Matt surprised Jess with a trip down to Half Moon Bay. There, he proposed on the beach and had a photographer hiding to take photos. The next day, they headed to Aspen to celebrate with their good friends!

The Details
Food & Drink
Jess & Matt worked with the dynamic team over at Paula Le Duc to curate a menu that intertwined California classics with fan favorites from their hometowns.
To honor Jessica’s New York roots, we featured a Smoked Trout Gravlax and Cheesecake Lollipops. To pay homage to Matt's heritage in Louisiana, we dished out Fried Shrimp Po Boys and Lemon Curd Beignets.
Many guests traveled across state lines to celebrate Jessica & Matt, and to showcase California cuisine, we had an artisan cheese and farmers market vegetable display at cocktail hour which showcased local Bay Area favorites.
Florals & Decor
Anna Hoffman of Loop Flowers brought our vision to life with gorgeous magenta dahlias mixed in with many other brightly colored florals. Jess & Matt loved teal accents, so we brought the color in through the water glasses and napkins.
For rentals, we brought in the classic crossback chairs and tables in a light wood that felt reminiscent of the natural beauty of wine country. We did a mix of long and round tables to create dimension in the space.
Guests dined under the twinkling lights that were interlaced in the trellis overhead, and as the lights went down, the warm glow of the candle light created a cozy atmosphere.
Wedding Cake
Jess & Matt have been long time Susie Cakes enthusiasts, so we served a tasty three-tier cake that our florist decorated with fresh colorful blooms.
Special Detail #1
Jess & Matt are parents to furbaby Lola. Although she couldn’t be at the wedding, we named a signature cocktail after her. The “Lola Paloma” was a total hit with guests. Our paper vendor Ji of JK Designs created a custom watercolor of Lola that we featured on the bar signs. Jessica & Matt’s planner, Stephanie Chau of Lally Events, surprised the bride & groom with a cut-out of the watercolor, which then arguably became the favorite prop of the night at the photo booth.
Special Detail #2
Wine country holds a special place in Jess & Matt’s relationship. The two met in San Francisco and have spent many weekends all over Napa and Sonoma County enjoying all the delicious food and wine these magical places have to offer. For their seating chart and table assignments, Ji of JK Design hand-painted all of their favorite cities in wine country, and each guest was seated at a table named after these cities.
