Tuscan Garden Meets Palm Springs Glam At This California Wedding
Tuscan Garden meets Palm Springs Glam: romantic, floral and contemporary with a splash of edginess. The wedding venue, Toscana Country Club, is unique from most Palm Springs area venues in that it has lush landscaping, gorgeous stone architecture, and truly feels like you are in Italy. We wanted to work with the Tuscan vibe of the venue, while incorporating a little bit of Palm Springs character and edginess - it was a destination wedding, after all! It was also very important that we designed events reflective of Haley and Marco's fun-loving personalities. They are social butterflies and love to host their friends, and it was important that the wedding events felt like them as a couple.
Haley wore a timeless Paloma Blanca gown with an off-the-shoulder neckline and A-line skirt.
The bridesmaids wore nude gowns by Shona Joy from Revolve Clothing.
Haley had recently graduated culinary school, so food and drinks were very important! Immediately following the ceremony, tray-passed appetizers were served on the Garden Terrace, as guests enjoyed the scenery and live music. For dinner, guests indulged in their choice of New York strip, Chilean sea bass or Napa Valley rack of lamb for their main course. His and hers signature cocktails - custom created by a good friend of the couple's who is an award-winning bartender - were aptly named "Chef's Kiss" and "McDavid in the Desert," as the Edmonton Oilers were in the playoffs at the time of the wedding (the couple rarely misses a game).
The reception was held in an outdoor space called "The Olive Grove," which was filled with gorgeous olive trees. We designed a unique layout to optimize the al-fresco experience. Guests dined at a mix of long wooden rectangle tables and rounds covered in luxe linens. We used black as an accent through the chairs and flatware to bring in a modern vibe to a traditional setting. Two lounge seating areas with contemporary pieces included accents of ochre yellow and dusty rose; colored marble and fluted tables added texture and interest to the vignettes. Native Poppy did an incredible job bringing our floral vision to life! We used a mostly traditional palette, but added in modern floral selections and designed the arrangements with negative space to allow for movement.
Haley and Marco hosted a "welcome fiesta" on Cinco de Mayo the day prior to the wedding (since it fell on May 5th). The event was held at Marco's parents' home in Indian Wells, and was brightly decorated with vibrant colors, florals and pool lanterns. Guests indulged in signature margaritas, tacos and churros, and were serenaded by a Mariachi band. It was the perfect way to kick off the weekend festivities!
