A colorful palette of yellows, pinks, and blues was perfect for this late-summer outdoor wedding. We kept everything a bit more neutral for the ceremony. Still, we chose to add color to the reception through the table linens from BBJ and florals from Tourterelle to match the “late summer garden party” vibe.

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]
The bride’s parent’s home was an easy choice of venue for the nuptials! Which gave some serious “Father of the Bride” vibes on their special day. (Minus Franck and the swans!) “Our favorite type of challenge is building a custom wedding from the ground up. We really debated how we were going to utilize the property, and this project really evolved over time,” explained Kate Phillips of Kate Phillips Events. “We really wanted to show off all of the beautiful spaces within the property – the house itself, the gardens, the pool!” Elegant peaks of an 81′ x 141′ sailcloth tent (which was specially ordered for this event by Rent-E-Quip) in the front field created the perfect framework for the celebration! “We added draping around the perimeter of the tent to add a sophisticated layer of texture to the hay field location!” The vision was to incorporate several areas of their property to serve as different “event” spaces for each part of the day. Guests would begin with shuttles to the front of their home – then enter the side garden/lawn space for the ceremony. Moving onto cocktail hour – guests would pass through the garden and into the backyard where canapes and cocktails flowed surrounding the pool. The reception vision was to be a grand tent out in the middle of an expansive hay field on the property. Their summer wedding embraced all the colors of the season, too, with colorful florals in a comfortable but elegant way.

The soft floral arrangements added a delicate touch of color to the day that perfectly accented the white and yellow tablecloths. Bringing a bit of the outdoors in – greenery was added to the tent trailing down the sides, as well as potted arrangements to make a more inviting feel to the space. This outdoor, private residence event featured classic, Southern charm throughout all of the design. The florals were designed to be lush, with a sense of whimsy, a colorful, end-of-summer garden party! The bride’s cascade-style bouquet included soft hues of ivories, creams, and blush finished with a vintage silk ribbon. The sailcloth tent hosted lush arrangements in terra-cotta pots, soft candlelight, and waterfall bistro lighting as guests danced the night away from tunes by Broadsound Entertainment. The band was positioned on a custom stage fabricated by Paisley & Jade!

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]In anticipation of her daughter’s wedding day, the mother of the bride spent a year dedicated to nurturing hydrangea trees and extensive gardens to serve as focal points for the ceremony and cocktail hour. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]With the family property being expansive, and the tented reception being held a good distance from cocktail hour (which was in the backyard of the home), the couple opted to have guests escorted by a bagpiper to the tent. It served as a fun guest experience as the couple led the way, and was a great functional way to move guests from one space to the next without confusion. And – guests were greeted by a fun “tentrance” installation of greenery and the previously mentioned homegrown hydrangea trees.[/field]
