The best thing we did was hire a wedding planner that was local and had great taste! Jen from Aspen Event Solutions made the process super easy because I would tell her what I was looking for, and she paired me with the vendors who would make it all possible! We wanted to keep it really authentic to us, so everything we did was centered around everyone having a great time. We wanted to keep an authentic Aspen feel and introduce our friends and family to our favorite activities and places in Aspen. I wanted the decor to be true to Aspen but pull in some of my favorite floral elements. Aspen is such a beautiful place in the summertime, and I wanted our wedding weekend to feel personal and cozy. We chose Kemo Sabe for the welcome party to kick off the weekend. We had drinks, and everyone was able to make a customized cowboy hat. Our rehearsal dinner was the following evening out at T Lazy 7 Ranch, so we wanted our guests to have an opportunity to get a hat for the occasion. It was the perfect casual way of getting everyone together to get excited about the weekend and to meet and mingle. The next day, we invited our guests to join us for a little bit of friendly competition. We hosted a pickleball tournament, which was a great way to get some fresh air, sunshine, and exercise. It was also a great way for our guests to get to know each other, as they came from all over the world. Everyone had a blast. Our rehearsal dinner was at T Lazy 7 Ranch. We had the cutest little donkeys with beer in their saddlebags, greeting our guests at the entrance. We had live music, dinner, and drinks. It was an easy-going, beautiful night that ended with a bonfire and smores under the stars. Our ceremony was sweet and intimate. Our families joined us in the procession down the aisle. My husband and I chose to stand up during the ceremony, just the two of us. We really wanted to focus on each other for the special moment. The guests rode up on the gondola. The ceremony had the most breathtaking view. Raggy, our dog, walked down the aisle with us. Our reception was so much fun! You could feel the love in the room. We had an incredible DJ, and the dance floor was immediately packed. We had to encourage guests to sit for dinner. For dinner, we served our favorite dishes (I love Mac and cheese), so we had a Mac and cheese bar. We kept the guest list small, so everyone who knew us really understood us, and it was magical. I changed into another custom dress by Wei and had my ceremony dress on display as a centerpiece. Everyone was in awe. It was such a beautiful and fun night. The after-party was at one of my all-time favorite places in Aspen, Caribou Club. We danced the night away. It was the perfect way to end the weekend.

Wei (the dress designer*) and I had met at Parsons School of Design in 2011. I started the search for a dress in NYC, and I was extremely disappointed in the whole process. It felt like you had to fight for an appointment, and then when you finally tried things on, it felt very underwhelming. For such an important event, I wanted my dress to feel equally as important and like me (not my everyday casual look, though, haha). I reached out to Wei to see if he would be willing to design something for me, and luckily, he said yes! We started working on the dress in July 2022 with our initial meeting in Paris. We sat down and brainstormed the important elements of the dress. The next day, we had the opportunity to visit a renowned hand embroidery atelier in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, known for their work with high-end brands. We spent the entire day there, searching for the perfect embroidery that aligned with the vision. We eventually found an exceptional embroidered piece that ticked all the boxes. The creation of the dress itself is a true piece of art. 12 expert artisans spent over 5,000 hours embroidering the material. After they completed their work, the hand-embroidered material was sent over to Weisheng Paris, and his team began the delicate task of hand-sewing the gown, a process that spanned seven months but was beyond worth it! *A bit about Weisheng Paris, the brand my friend Wei established in 2021: it’s a haute couture label with a strong emphasis on traditional French craftsmanship, particularly in areas like featherwork and the art of embroidery. We also created a beautiful custom dress for my rehearsal dinner that was the perfect Western bride look. He also created my mom’s dress for the ceremony, and she looked stunning.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]

We wanted the food to be reflective of us as a couple. We met in Texas, so we had Tex-Mex-inspired food. Margarita is my favorite drink, so we had those. We had Aperol Spritz waiting for our guests after the ceremony so they could enjoy them on the gondola ride down to the reception. They had the table assignment number on the rim. We loved that detail, and it was great that everyone knew where they were heading upon arrival. My husband eats everything, and my favorite food is macaroni and cheese, so we had a beautiful mac and cheese bar.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]For florals, I didn’t want anything too formal or structured. I wanted it to be almost whimsical and play off the summer wildflowers and aspen greenery. It turned out perfect.

Some of my favorite details were the gold accents and the custom linen napkins with our monogram.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]I wanted the cake to tie in the aspen birch bark and lattice. The lattice detail came through The invitation, dress, decor, table scape and the cake. Our cake also featured a little figurine of our dog Raggy. we wanted it to be simple and beautiful [/field]

Aspen was a place that was special to both of us. My husband went with his family growing up and had the fondest memories skiing. I have had family trips and trips with friends over the years as well. Aspen was actually our first trip we went on after Covid. We ended up accidentally driving up the back of Aspen mountain looking for a hike to arrive right in the spot where we got married.
